I would not recommend this store to anyone in fact, no stars should be an option!! We just had the most awful experience. This morning, our son's fish died and he was devastated. We currently have 3 very small fish in a 20 gallon hefty size tank. We went as a family to pick out a new fish as we really wanted to make it up for my son. We found the exact same fish we had. Our current fish have been alive and thriving for 5 years. I have had fish all of my life and just really wanted to make my son happy from the loss. The person helping was very rude, childish and unprofessional. When we picked out the fish, I was questioned about our current fish and set up. Basically, what felt like a 10 question survey. Overkill for a 5$ goldfish. At first, they threatened to not sell us the fish because we needed a 30 gallon tank for the addition. Almost made my son cry. Really??? First off, this tank we have can hold 4 small fish that is the max. Is 10 more gallons really that much more of a difference for 4 small goldfish??? I asked to speak to a manager and same thing, for a 5$ gold fish threatening us that this fish wouldn't survive without the 10 extra gallons. Are you for real? My kids fish just died and you want to act like we are adopting a million dollar fish? Anyways they finally agreed to sell the fish, however, they said we will not be honoring a no return policy , okay so what it's 5$ I could care a less. Didn't stop there, they said they wouldn't sell any more fish ever! They even went to go as far as writing this on the receipt (in big letters covering the whole receipt) "no refund, no more fish" Very childish and unprofessional on both employee and manager. This is a very unfortunate circumstance, my son was very excited to get a fish for his birthday and one of the workers followed us around the store while we were looking for all of the necessities. While being followed my son dropped one of the fish tank rocks and it broke. The man approached me in front of my son and was very forceful in telling us we had to purchase the broken rock. My problem is not with purchasing the item we broke. It is how this man belittled me in front of my son and made my four year old feel awful for something that was an accident. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. This was supposed to be a fun experience and instead turned into a place I will not give my business to any longer. Avoid if you can and don't take your kids there. This place is great for nail trims. I take my pup here about once a month and this time Juno cut my pups nails and did a great job. They were perfectly short and well buffed. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back! read more

This review is not for the store itself, it's for the "Vetco" vaccination clinic which today was run my a group of incompetent individuals. Prepare to have your dog put in a headlock to receive its vaccines by the tech. I have a small, easy going gif that was unnecessarily manhandled and when I offered to hold her (which I've done for years) the tech told me that she's "got it". As she wrapped her arm around my small dog's neck to forcibly hold her still. We were the first appointment of the day. I specifically requested a one year prescription of both Heartgard and Nexgard. I was emailed only a 6 month prescription for Heartgard and no prescription for Nexgard. I called and asked for them to make the correction and I again received an email only for 6 months of Heartgard. I had to drive back to the store to request a correction and offered to purchase a 12 months supply of each in person. The veterinarian shouted through the glass (she couldn't bother to open it and speak to me) to ask if I wanted 12 months of both and I responded that I did. I waited and the prescription showed up in my email was for zero quantities and zero refills for Nexgard and 3 refills of Heartgard. I can't make this up. Clearly, the woman who checked us in made an error filling out the form right at the start. The techs and the vet all stood behind the glass complaining about me, and this was their error. I wasn't rude, but I was irritated. Time is money and they wasted my time today because of their incompetence. They ended up giving me one year of Heartgard and only 6 months of Nexgard in person because they told me they supposedly only had 6 months in stock because the Nexgard is "on backorder". I still can't even order the remaining 6 months of Nexgard online because the morons never entered the prescription online, so it doesn't show up on my Petco account. Never Again! They were rude, disrespectful, poor listeners, fast talkers, and incompetent. I'd rather pay three times the cost for a real vet clinic and not this Keystone Cops nonsense. It's now been 4 hours wasted from my day and I didn't even receive an apology from them. I will never recommend this location for "Vetco Vaccinations" to anyone. Just want to add that it's now been 24 hours. I have called customer service, emailed and tried to place an online order but the veterinarian at the Castle Rock, Colorado Vetco Clinic still can't seem to get it right. How hard is it to write a one year prescription for both Heartgard and Nexgard? Was this error caused by the tech who may have entered the information incorrectly? Was it the vet who couldn't open the sliding glass doors to ask me for clarification? This place is a joke! They rush you through like it's a car wash. If you go back with a question you are treated as an inconvenience because they are "so busy". I'm a paying customer too. I was there early and on time, but you opened late. You then screwed up my dog's prescription because you simply didn't care. Shame on you!!! read more

2 stars for a combo of reasons. 5 stars fir employees kindness. They have VERY kind people who work here however kindness only goes so far to cover up uncleanliness. I have went to the store a couple times this week looking for a few royal canin foods. Since royal canin has had supply issues I've had to continually check all stores. While there I've had to use the restroom and both times it was one of the worst bathrooms I've ever used. The first time I thought it was a one off. Maybe I caught them right before they cleaned it. It looked like they had a plumber fixing one bathroom so I equated it to that. But days later I go in and the same paper is on the floor, same dirt spots and now there's puddles on the floor. TERRIBLE. Especially in a pandemic this should not happen. read more

Ok so I was just there and I don't write reviews but what I overheard today was rather upsetting. I was in the kitty litter section and nearby the store employees were talking and one was making some comments about wether an employee was trans or not based on what they looked like. I kind of looked over and it was an older women that was asking and just overall over stepping some boundaries with her comments and remarks on both the employee she was talking too and about. She was an older women with grey hair not sure about name but she was making the remarks to another women younger with black long hair. But good on the employee with the black hair for saying it shouldn't matter if someone is in the LGBTQ+ community. read more

I am so disappointed. I've taken my dog there many times for grooming. When I took my dog on June 20 they refused to groom him due to a heart murmur. Their excuse was no one had asked the correct questions previously. But the manager was who had done the intake on previous occasions. I will not be back there. read more

Well y'all lost a customer forever, because you have self-admittedly endangered my dog's life, which is basically the worst thing you can do to a dog owner. I'm surprised there have not been any lawsuits aimed at this place (or have there?). First, employees were not wearing their masks correctly, but hey, it's their health to throw away during a pandemic surge. I've taken my dog to different Petcos (including this very location!) for grooming a total of 7 times. Today, I was turned away because, just like every other visit, I told them that my dog has a heart murmur. "I can't believe nobody has told you this before, but we cannot service dogs with conditions, they can literally die from the stress." Either the previous six times, they have knowingly jeopardized my dog's health without telling me, or the employees here simply don't want to do their jobs. Glad they're not laying a finger on my dog ever again. After not caring about their employee masking policy, yet turning away customer from their grooming policy, who knows what other practices they're cherry picking? The store manager was absolutely unknowledgeable, rude, unhelpful and condescending. I brought my 4 year old daughter in to pick out a new salt water fish. The store lead "Michael" had 0 knowledge and 0 care. I asked a price on a fish and he said he wasn't sure didn't want to have to look it up and that we should just come back tomorrow. I told him I wasn't coming back tomorrow since we were already here and she just wants to pick one out and he just gave a no care attitude. Not that petco has a dress code but "Michael" looked and smelled like he just walked in from the back ally. It was tough to keep a conversation w him since his awful halitosis made me just want to end the conversation and speak to anyone else. Overall an awful experience and we will not be coming back anytime soon which is a disappointment since this is the only local store that sells salt water fish in castle rock. read more

Petco does a great job grooming my feisty Yorkie and my elderly Yorkie Poo. They are polite and friendly and do a great job! The ease of getting my pups in quickly and even changing the time last minute wasn't a problem for Petco. Thank you Petco for showing great customer service! Apparently employees are allowed to wear sweatpants while they are rude to customers. Had to again yell for someone to come help me with my online order as always you walk in there's no one available. Managers response was "sweet". He apparently doesn't care either. I have taken my dog to this location for regular baths since 2019. She has mild allergies to things like grass, wool rugs, cats etc. so she is on Apoquel, and I like to keep her clean. Up until today they have done a great job. When I showed up for her scheduled appointment today I was told "new management " won't allow grooming on any animal taking medication. No one bothered to call me to let me know before I drove down there, and the staff was completely unapologetic. I'm sure they are going to lose grooming business because many dogs are on medication. I won't be giving any business to Petco again. read more

Very upset to say that I bought a snail from this location and I waited for several days for him to come out of his shell and he never did. I realized that he had been dead from the moment I bought him and even thinking back to when I bought it I'm pretty sure the lady who grabbed him even realized he was dead. I've owned snails before and bought a snail from Petsmart and I've had him for 6 months now and is thriving. Don't go to Petco just go to Petsmart they're much better. read more

Took my 14 year old Brittany in for a grooming. We've been going there for about 2 years. I was told that since my dog is on medication they won't be seeing him. No reason other than the manager decided they aren't seeing animals on meds. He's on arthritis meds and has Cushing's disease. The medication he takes keeps the tumor under control. Its not contagious and doesn't impact his behavior at all. I guess since I'm on meds my money isn't good enough either. Terrible policy, terribly customer service. read more

I do not recommend the grooming facility. I always take my dogs there and never had a problem. Today I took my dogs in for their appointment and I reminded them that one of my dogs can't be blow dried completely because he has epilepsy. Now they have know about his condition for a long time and have always taken him. This morning they refused to groom him and were not even nice about it. Didn't offer an apology or anything. About a month ago we took our dog here for grooming. After they shampooed him they used a eye wash. When we went to pick him up his eyes were super red. So we took him back in so the groomer can take a look at his eyes. She then washed it out again with the same eye wash. That is when we smelled rubbing alcohol. So we look at what is in it is had Alevera gel rubbing alcohol to make sure he will not go blind or anything like that and peppermint oil. We take him to the ER pet at 4pm and the vet said is sounds like they used ear wash. However wile we are waiting for him to get seen we call the manager (not going to say his name) was very very rude to us and was not helpful. The bill was about $300 and it took them weeks for them to pay for the bill that they caused. I would never recommend you take you dog here unless you want them to hurt them and make you go the the ER vet. I wish I could leave less than 1 stare. read more

Lost trust because of return policy. I was shocked to learn of Petco's nonsensical "easy return policy". Simply put they will not return items purchased from a store because of "COVID". This non-return policy was not clearly disclosed in the store at the time purchase, even though it was apparently in place. UPDATE 1-12-2021: Petco's local store manager was able provide an exception to the policy against accepting in-store returns. I returned the items to the store yesterday for a refund. As such, I updated the review from one star to three stars because the store ended up doing the right thing. I only gave three starts because PetCo still has not modified its policy on in-store returns. read more

The staff here are excellent. I was in town visiting friends and wanted to pickup some toys for their pets. The staff helped me find cute gifts for a super chewer puppy and a lazy cat. Great experience for an uneducated pet lover! read more

After I tried to ask the cashier why I was charged for 3 bags the cashier proceeds to tell me that I need to feed my dog more because she looks malnourished. This morning, my elderly Brussels Griffon had a grooming appointment with Finn. He was amazing with her. She has separation anxiety but did not mind him holding her. He was very gentle with her. Finn did an excellent job grooming her. The customer service at both grooming and check out was great. We will definitely be back and have scheduled an appointment with other dog. read more

Absolutely disgusted at the amount of disrespect the employees get from the bosses. I was shopping for my pets food and went up to the front with no problems employees were very kind asking if I needed any type of help shopping. A young girl maybe 17 or 18 was ringing me up when she rung an item 2 times on accident she told me and fixed immediately. A tall slim balled man told the young girl he was going to beat her(not sure if this was a joke but if it was it was very disrespectful) her face got red and she laughed nervously. He then told her she was dumb and told her to get back to her area(also not sure what that meant by area.) Worst place ever to take your dog for grooming. The lady at the front desk was rude to my dog when she put the leash on him and choked him to get him to the back. She had zero compassion and was rude to me as the customer. I will never take my sweet golden retriever there again. They lost a customer forever today. I don't know what happened to this Petco, but their groomers did not do a good job on my dog. I've taken both dogs once before and it was just 'okay', but this time, not good at all. First of all, the one groomer I saw had to leave a dog to come fill out my paperwork. One was coming on shift, and there was another doing something. It was 1030, and not organized. The groomer had hair all over her, and hair was all over the floor with one dog she was working on. I had to trim one my dogs hair again after I paid $100 for two. f I could give this company a minus review I would! Started a couple days ago when I went to exchange a cat food. I didn't have the receipt and Angela was little help and VERY rude.... On a side note I found out today that Angela could have taken a couple extra minutes on a slow Sunday morning to call the manager he/she could have looked up my receipt. So the exchange was done with a gift card... Not aware... I thought it was still done with my card and the remaining was put on a gift card. Today I had to return this bag and 1. Could only do a gift card... Again because Angela didn't feel like calling the manager and 2. They wouldn't even price match WalMart without me driving there to take a picture and drive back. Even though the online price and store price are the same at Walmart. It was for a $1.20 less and they couldn't even do that!!!! POOR customer service and I will never shop here again!
