Such an unprofessional experience with grooming. I took the time and GAS to drive to Encino to have my dog bathed and get a trim. And they were genuinely so unprofessional. Dude sat on the floor with my dog for like 20 minutes "trying to establish trust" with mh puppy and then called him "too aggressive" and "required to be sedated"??? Of course he was gonna be a little skittish it was his first time with these people!! I think my dog genuinely sensed how uncaring and unwilling dude was to work with my dog. Not to mention the lack of culturally sensitive customer care?? Gave me a nasty face when I gave him my dog's vaccine records which were in Spanish. Like it's not that hard to pull up google translate ESPECIALLY while sitting infront of a computer bro ‍ but yk what this is America I guess hahaha Made me waste an hour of my time bro and ended up taking my dog to another place near my house where he immediately got taken in, did not need to be sedated, and was so happy when I picked him up. I found a dog this morning that lives in Tennessee I needed to buy a crate to fly him back The lady that helped me, Sabri, went far beyond what a regular employee would do. She saw that I was nervous and didn't know what to do. She helped me find the right carrier and put it together for me. Helped me with other things that I would need and because I was paying out of my pocket to return the dog, she used her employee discount. She was so compassionate. I feel my poor Petco has become the forgotten child. This store is in absolute shambles. I actually asked if they were under a remodel or undergoing changes & the cashier laughed like I was joking - awkward. The treat section had bugs crawling (this made me leave empty handed) & the store is in absolute disarray. I usually bring my dogs with me to get some enrichment & socialization done while we shop for their monthly spree, but I will not be returning to this location. I went in for a companion fish for my Koi and met NES who is studying to be a marine biologist. I could have talked to her all day about the different fish and animals in the store. I used to think this store was less than others because we had bad experiences wit hamsters here, but NES's knowledge care and passion for the animals was so impressive. Petco needs many enthusiastic and helpful people like this who are a wealth of knowledge to help prevent pet tragedies. I had an associate in Aquatics come over to clean the fishes containers bc they were dirty and disgusting and the fish were laying on their sides. I was told "Ma'am....ma'am....I thought you called me over here bc you wanted to buy something. There's a woman who comes here to clean the fish once a week and she's not here." Mind you it was Wednesday and the fish would have to wait almost another week for water cleaning. He then proceeded to walk away w/out cleaning or helping the fish. I do not recommend this store for aquatics unless it's for supplies only. It's terrible business to talk down to someone trying to help you maintain your LIVE stock, and then walk away not doing anything about it leaving the fish to suffer. Do better. If caring for fish are too much trouble, perhaps this location shouldn't carry live animals at all. read more

I've always had a good experience coming in here. I mostly come in for my pet parakeets. I had two parakeets one for 11 years and another for 13 years. When my 11 year old died I got another friend for my 13 year old. But when the 13 year old died, I needed a friend for my 2 year old. So I have current 3 parakeets, I got them from this location. It was difficult during the pandemic because they kept getting sold out. Now, they have a lot. I still get the food and toys for then from here. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. They are knowledgeable and passionate about pets. The lines are never long. They also have a rewards program. Plenty of parking! read more

It was late at night, near 8:30 when the store would normally close. I needed plants for my fish tanks, so I asked a young women at the front of the store for advice, who ended up helping me. She was clearly passionate about aquatics, and her knowledge easily exceeded my own or any employee I had ever met before. We had a very pleasant conversation about plants, fish tanks, and aquatics in general. She helped me pick out the perfect plants, and later that night I couldn't help but smile later that night when my fishes swam through them. This employee is clearly an asset to the store and I had a very comfortable consumer experience. Easy 5 stars, and I never leave reviews. :) read more

I had two very tiny male toy poodles who were between three and five pounds. I was told they had a wonderful groomer. That she was experienced and moved from the Glendale Store. I dropped my babies off at their appointed time. I get a phone call two hours later saying my female toy poodle is going into surgery. My legs collapsed. Then I thought both my babies are males. I was told to meet them at the hospital next to the Corbin Bowling Alley. I could not not drive, or even breathe. I went down there and even though he wore a tag and was chipped they said I could not see him. They felt he was not going to live. I get in the car and am driven by my dad to the Encino Petco. I speak to the manager who said I need to talk to the gal in the grooming section. I hear, the groomer ran out side with a tiny dog dropping blood through the store and parking She was seated in the drivers seat drinking vodka from the bottle and by her trunk was a great deal of blood. The gal asked her what's going on. She told her she was taking her break. The gal said "Open your trunk, NOW". The groomer, an older woman, said "no". Then she said, there was an accident and while she was using the scissors she stabbed him across his abdomen. It was his entire side. She was going to let it die and say he ran out. The gal grabbed hi took him to the hospital. They first said it's to late. But my fighter Maxi, lived. Petco did not pay for pain meds during surgery or after. My vet was closed. I took him to them Monday morning and was given codeine for him. He cried in my arms all night. They wanted to charge me for the bath and third of a haircut, and a full stabbing. I picked up my other baby, Brutus, before she had a chance to hurt him Year's later I am told about this wonderful groomer in sun valley. The place took my pups. I get a call there was an accident and one is deceased. I could not drive there. I could not even stand up. They brought him to the hospital, and the Dr said we saved him but he may never be able to use his rear legs again. She cut the muscles and tendons, and nerves. The vet brought him out and he jumped from the ground into my arms. The Dr was in shock. She said, the surgery was so invasive but his love for you is even greater. Just then the same animal maimer from Petco came out when I went to pick up my other dog, he was in a cage. Was not batted or groomed. She said if I wait they will groom him. I yelled "GIVE ME MY DOG" She tried charging for two grooming although none were done. I said let's call the police. Let's have them do an alcohol test on you. ( she drove to work, and was drunk as a skunk) all of a sudden the owner gave me my other dog back. I contacted an attorney cause it was the same drink dog maimer. They DID NOTHING. They said take us to court. Dogs are property not living things. LAWS MUST BE CHANGED. LAWS ARE NOT NEEDED TO BE A GROOMER. SHE LOST HERS AND STILL GROOMER. SHE LOST HER DRIVER'S LICENSE AND STILL DROVE. PLEASE IT KILLS ME TO EVEN RELIVE THIS DOUBLE HORROR STORY. read more

Refused to sell me a fish. Horrible attitude. Was screaming at other patrons kids, ignoring people asking for help. Unfortunately the rest of the staff had no say over her word. I have been coming to this Petco for years since I live down the street - I have a fish tank and a couple birds so I am constantly in and out each month buying supplies, its always usually pretty nice. We got a puppy this year so we tried the grooming section for the first time today. Took our puppy in for a nail trimming, and I was worried he would be so nervous, but Terra took such good care of him. She is so wonderful and kind, you can tell she truly loves all dogs! I'm giving this store three stars based on the service I received from Stacy, and another gentleman with a ponytail prior to Stacy. The missing stars are for very poor service I received from Julianna. Today I came in excited to purchase a fish tank, accessories, and a betta fish for my daughter. When I first entered while my car was charging across the street, I was helped by the gentleman with the ponytail. He gave me great information about fish, showed me guinea pigs, and chinchillas. Answered all questions, however I had to leave to go and get my car so I could purchase the tank. I left and returned about 15 mins later, at this time the gentleman with the ponytail was gone (I wish I knew his name), I went to the front asked for help in which Stacy (working the register) greeted me with a smile, and called for someone to help. A few seconds later and woman approached the aisle, she did not look happy, in fact she looked as if she was being interrupted, she turned to Stacy, and then turned to me with her face frowned and shrugged at me, basically saying "yeah, what do you want". I was very perplexed as each interaction previous was great; so I tried to explain what I needed however Julianna (as I learned her name) continued to stare at me, and her face continued to look annoyed. At that I point I requested the young lady in the back that has purple hair because I remembered her being friendly while I was speaking with the gentleman with the ponytail. At that point, seeing I was growing frustrated Stacy stepped in and helped me. Julianna did not apologize, she just walked off as if she had something better to do. I later noticed a awkward encounter she was having with another customer. I don't want to harp on the terrible service received by Julianna, however I'd like this location to know that she is clearly not happy there. If it wasn't for the service from Stacy, whom even rang up my transaction, I would have never returned back to this location. Stacy was friendly, knowledgeable, and more importantly cognitively aware of the situation which allowed him to step in and take over. Sara was so wonderful as a cashier, she was so helpful and knowledgeable on products for my dog who has bad allergies, she recommended me food that had limited ingredients and has no poultry because she said my dog might have allergies to poultry since I changed his food, now my dog no longer has allergy attacks! I've been coming here for four years and I have never been ignored by an employee. I'm an Ops Manager and if someone on my team acted like Misha, she'd be let go immediately or at least receive verbal counseling. Today I had a really poor interaction with Misha. She always seems checked out and some what pissy. I asked her to speak up and she got irritated. Literally rolled her eyes at me and moved 2mph while she was bagging my items. I usually love going to this store, but a recent witnessed interaction between the manager and the employees has completely changed my opinion. I was in the dog toy isle purchasing something for my frenchie, when I heard an employee get borderline verbally abused by her manager (I believe the managers name is Cynthia). The employee was helping out someone and this manager abruptly came over and not only rudely interrupted, but talked in an extremely condescending manner to not only the employee but the customer. This store is a mess and I absolutely blame corporate. I go to stores up and down the valley and you can tell this company doesn't value this store. There is no investment being made at this location to either attract, hire, or retain talent. Every time I come to this store it feels and looks like a total DUMP and they're understaffed. It's so blatantly obvious and depressing. You can't even navigate through the aisles because the store is a total mess with inventory scattered about instead of on the shelves. It's impossible to shop here. Petco either needs to act like they value this location and the employees here or shut it down. Inventory is something that happens overnight, not smack dab in the middle of the day when ppl are trying to shop. It's always like this. There is not a shortage of ppl wanting jobs. There's a wage shortage. This is pathetic. I feel bad for these employees because how can they work the register, do inventory, and keep the store presentable all at once when there aren't enough people on staff? They can't. I didn't interact with anyone but the reviews of ppl stating employees are rude doesn't surprise me. I'm sure their morale is in the toilet, mine would be working at this location. I left this store and went to your competitor and dropped $600 on my new cat. I'm sure you had all the supplies I needed but I wasn't going to dig through this junkyard to find it.
