This place is old, dirty, and SELLS LIVE ANIMALS. If you are an animal lover you will be incredibly stressed out seeing the animals in these tiny cages under bright blinding lights. The sound of birds calling from the back of store, in their TINY cages, unable to fly, unable to see any daylight or the sun or the sky or the grass.. it's all so devastating. I cannot wait for this company to go out is business because it appears that's where they are heading. The staff is a bunch of disinterested people that do not care for the animals properly. I saw two young male employees watching YouTube videos in the aisle. It took 10 minutes to checkout for one item because the 1 cashier was pretty incompetent and frazzled. Please support a business that actually cares about animals. Any animal lover will leave here with PTSD wondering how they can help these poor helpless and sick looking animals. read more

I had my first grooming appointment for my 6 month old Goldendoodle puppy with Ethan today. He have her a bath and the cutest haircut. She went right with him no problem and he was very gentle and friendly. It was very quick, he was done in 1.5 hrs and the process was easy. He even put the cutest Trick or Treat orane Halloween bow in her fur. I'd definitely go back and highly recommend Ethan. read more

Two stars only because they price match here. But their customer service on the other hand was just terrible & unpleasant. I called prior to coming in because I saw on their website that they had this 2-in-1 water bottle/feeder & collapsible bowl I wanted, but the woman who answered the phone wasn't very helpful. She said they didn't carry much of the brand's products. When I asked if they had the 2-in-1 bottle/bowl I was looking for, she just told me the same thing. I was really just looking for a yes or no answer. So I decided to go in anyway, if they didn't have it I was going to buy another collapsible bowl. Upon me & my pups arrival there was no greeting from the cashier upfront, eh no big deal. But as I was walking around all the workers didn't bother to look up or even try & see if I needed help, even though they saw me going in circles looking for this specific item. I even got a few glares. Not sure if they're not dog people or what, but if so..you're in the wrong business honey. So finally I find the item & it says that it's $19.99, but on their site it's $9.99, so I brought the item up to the front to see if I was able to get it for the price online. I get to the front & as I'm telling cashier how I saw the price online was different, he cuts me off & says "We'll beat the price." Which I was very happy to hear, but as I mean it would've been nice to finish my sentence. He didn't even check my phone to see the price he just asked me how much, I mean I really could've said $5.99 & he probably wouldn't have cared. After paying I say the whole "Thank you! Have a nice day! Bye." But all I got in return was my receipt in my face & dead silence. I almost never come to Petco because of this reason, but I really wanted this bottle bowl for my walk today. But really, if you guys are looking for a 2-in-1 item like this, get this one! I give it 5 stars! I love it! There's a divider in the bottle so you can have water on one side & food on the other & the collapsible bowl has a hook so it can hang onto the bottle. Totally worth $10! TAKE THIS AS A WARNING: i used to work here and i loved the store and i loved working here. it was the biggest pleasure of my life. i loved being there, i loved stocking, i loved everything about this job. i quit this last week because i couldn't take it anymore and finally feel comfortable speaking my true thoughts on the store now. if you noticed that the quality of customer service has gone downhill there since this last summer, you wouldn't be wrong. almost everyone in this store is leaving or unhappy because of the management. the manager (whose name is listed in another review) is incredibly condescending, rude, and horribly spoken to customers, doordashers, and her employees. she is also discriminatory towards those who don't speak english and who are elderly (eg: told a russian woman to "go to a russian store" instead of our store because the woman didn't speak enough english in her opinion (there is no official language of the US fyi)). she says the most off-handed shit to customers and to employees (eg: after a man walked out of the store with a cane she came up to me and told me quote 'you need to take care of yourself so you don't end up like That.' even though i am a partially disabled worker LMFAO). she tells employees to their face that she doesn't think they are good at their job or worth the company's time. in my entire time working there, there was never any animal deaths and under her watch there have been multiple animals who have died in store. she encourages us to not help customers (she told us customer service doesn't matter and actually checks the time as she watches us interact with customers because she doesn't actually care if you are helped) and she does not make the time for employees to take proper care of the animals. you are much better off visiting the woodland hills or the van nuys location. read more

First, I like this Petco because it's never ever busy and we almost never have to wait at checkout. Second, it carried the cat food line 'Soulistic', which isn't carried over at Pet Food Express. So we literally go in grab the food, go straight through the checker, and we're out in 5 minutes! That's pretty amazing to me, I really don't know if it's the location or what. It's just always easy to run in real quick. The staff working there are helpful but not pushy. This is important to me because I hate asking for something and then they start trying to sell me something else in that aisle. That happens at Pet Food Express often I feel... I took my did there on Monday for a nail trim. The groomer was just finishing up a dog. She took the dog to the back and without sanitizing her had or the work area took my dog and placed her on the table. The next day my dog started cold symptoms as cough. Took him to the vet and the first thing they asked was if he had gone to the groomers. This is not the first time this has happened at this grooming salon. Last year my dog got an eye infection few days after visiting this Petco grooming. My dog is very healthy and these 2 incidents are only after visiting this Petco grooming. So Beware!!! read more

As a store manager that works in the area and is very familiar with the way customer service works I was appalled by the way that I was treated by two of your employees today. I had went in to replace two of my Goldfish that unfortunately died this morning that I had purchased from your location yesterday afternoon & Colleen handled the situation very disrespectfully. At first I didn't have my original receipt which I had no problem going home to bring back and after learning they were just goldfish she stated "oh, they're just 23€ they can be replaced" I than corrected her stating that they were the fan tail bulkier ones and her overall persona changed towards me. She than stated that she needed to ask me a few questions (in which I soon felt attacked) in the way she was asking me the questions and how after every answer she kept repeating how she doesn't feel comfortable selling me the fish again! I work in retail and never have I told one of my customers that I didn't feel comfortable selling them something! She made me feel like a fish killer when I own a beta fish of three years and a aquatic turtle and three snails! They're Goldfish! And not only that I've never been treated this way ever at this location and I'm a long time regular customer! She than rudely referred me to her co worker who treated me worse once she finally came to the aquatic department to help me. She flat out told me that if the fish left with me they would die! At this point I was ready to go to PetSmart and I voiced that to her and she threw her hands up in the air with an attitude pointing to the tank that also had dead fish in them telling me to choose what I want so she could ring me out. I was disgusted! I went all the way home and obtained my receipt and came back and politely asked for a refund. There manager was than on the floor this time when I came back and let me tell you the experience this time was DIFFERENT. I explained what was happening with my fish tank and she immediately understood and had reasonable and rational advice for me. "I placed an order with Petco Store .com that included a large sliding door pet door and an extra replacement flap. I intended to use the extra flap on my screen patio for a custom install. I did not really care if the flap was for the sliding door or a hard door, I just needed an extra flap. Pete contacted me immediately before finalizing the order. He wanted to check to make sure the hard door flap I ordered was not to replace the sliding glass door flap I ordered. This is the type of communication any consumer expects but rarely experiences in a purchasing experience. This extra step was not necessary but greatly appreciated, Thanks again Stan! When Stan took this extra time to contact me, I made an additional request for an item not listed on the store site. He took a few moments to look up my request and was able to order the part and include it in my order. Ok... Update... this place sucks. I warn everyone not to go here. Incompetence abounds. I just got off the phone with the groomer to make an appointment. It started off badly, you can tell she did not want to be on the phone or make an appointment. Total BAD attitude. This is the person you are going to leave alone with your pet?? I think not. She asked for my phone number several times. She could not find me in the system. I tell her I have a Petco card. I should be in the system. I just bought a harness last week. (story about that one too) After several attempts using my phone number in the system I say, "let me bring in my dog and I'll bring my Petco card... " She's says "OK... what's your phone number?" I realize that rules change now that COVID is upon us but not accepting returns and not letting your customers know BEFORE they purchase is awful. I went in to return a dog conditioner that I purchased 2 days ago, unused. I walked up to the cashier and said I have a return and she replied with, "Oh as of January 1st, we are no longer accepting returns"....I said, well is that policy printed on your receipts? "No, it just got put into place on Jan 1st." Uhhhh, it's January 18th. A large company can't get it together to either tell their employees to let the customers know that it's final sale at the time of purchase, have a sign at the register, or print it on the receipt? This cashier made me stand by the cashier area - she said she will get someone to help me get the crickets for my 7yr old who was with me. She made us wait 15 mins, while she kept attending to others. No help arrived. I approached her again and I was told that I need to fall in line because she is entertaining other guests. By this time the line had become long already. The manager was right there too not doing anything. So I fall in line again. I asked for pricing for the cricket container I wanted to buy. She tells me I have to get another one with the tag price on it and I will have to fall in line again. So I went and got another one, fell in line, paid for it. Still waiting for someone to help me actually get the crickets. After almost 30mins of waiting, I decided to return the item. This cashier tells me I have to fall in line again. Only this time that the manager said I can help you with that. Still no one helped me get the crickets. When I finally got someone for the cricket, I was told they can only give it to me inside the plastic, that they can't put the crickets inside the container that I brought with me. It was not like this the first time we came here to get the crickets. Needless to say, we were treated very poorly and almost like it was intentional because of my looks. Sad to say my 7 yr old was with me to witness that. I am a frontline in this time of covid and it is disheartening to see people treat others like this. We bought our guinea pig here and within few weeks she got sick. Brought her back they gave us an option for money back or exchange but we loved her n wanted to help her so they advised us they can give us our refund send her to a pecto vet which they will pay for and after we can take her home. Well after a month of her healing from ringworm we got great news that she is healed just had a patch of hair missing where the ringworm was we can come and get her back. The people here are very nice and helpful and educated about animals , but, there is one guy that works kind of late and he's a jerk. So I try to come during the day. But the place is always clean and they have shelves fully stocked. Kitty adoptions are everyday, I just wish the guinea pigs were given more veggies ,instead of just oranges, I say this because I know oranges can be a little too tart for them and they can get sores in their mouths. I also wish there was more reptile supplies,in larger sizes , I have an iguana and he's growing pretty fast, it would be convenient to stop by here and shop for the piggies and iguana at once but since reptile supplies are limited here, I have no choice but to go to the Reptile Outpost. I've been going to this location for about two years. Most of my interactions have been pretty okay, some even great, but today was not that day. I ran in to grab cat litter. I also had my roommate's dog with me because he's been cooped up a lot due to the pandemic. He loves visiting this store. Well, as I'm waiting in line to check out (holding a big bag of litter), poor dude has to poop. I'm asking if there are any baggies and cleaner, and the staff seems to just stare blankly at me. Finally one girl came out from behind the register and handed me a petco shopping bag. Then I needed to throw it away....and the staff completely ignores the situation, no help, no nothing. So I'm standing there holding dog crap and start walking around to locate a trash. I find one, and lo and behold there are cleanup baggies and cleaner there. Would have been nice to tell me that initially. My cat litter and dog have been sitting in line as I handle all this. I wait in line some more. Staff seem to come and go and help a bunch of other people. It's been about five minutes and it seems nobody wants to check out my item. The one guy who is at his stand is with a lady who apparently wants to ask questions about every single individual dog treat. The two other ladies at the front saw me waiting, saw me cleaning up the poop, saw me waiting some more, and chose to help people who came up behind me to ask for help. I brought in a former street dog that I am fostering to this Petco Grooming Salon. She was severely matted, dirty, and scared. Tacia was her groomer today. She was very patient with her and gave her a haircut and flea bath. She looks like a new dog! She went above and beyond while grooming her, taking into consideration that she was scared and probably has never been groomed before. Tacia has also taken care of my dog Henry and he always gets great care. Tacia and the rest of the groomers I have encountered there have been very professional and take the time to answer all of my questions. read more

Let just start by saying that Tacia has truly impressed me with her customer service skills. I have never been treated so accommodating and to think it was at a petco. I loved how she was able to explain the process of getting my dogs groomed. She was able to provide an amazing experience and my dogs seemed to love her. She was even able to provide her expertise about their diet and I purchased a salmon oil for my dogs food and It actually helped. Ethan is a great groomer. My little dog is a rescue and doesn't like his face touched. But Ethan was able to bathe and shave him and still get his face a bit cleaned up. Also love that the store accepts returns of opened items. My dog is very fussy (cocka-poo-terrier) and still haven't found him the right treats. But my first visit, I had a helpful person assist with the list of things to get as a 1st time dog owner and some of the food recommends were spot on. All the workers are friendly and helpful. Prices are comparable to other stores. And good coupons and discounts as a member. Great store! read more

HORRIBLE! SALON REVIEW ONLY! Took our two boys to get a wash and a de-shredding treatment, they forgot to do the de-shedding so it cost us $100 to get two pugs washed... Manager Tacia said next time Ill do it and wont charge you... Fast forward to today. I took them in and the manager Tacia is acting like I made the whole story up... After dealing with her bad attitude she decides to comp the shedding treatment and takes the dogs... Fast forward three hours later, the dogs are sitting here wet, I had to take their collars off so they dont rash up, and look at my shirt...
