    Rotting betta. Definitely worth $15.

Employees are arrogant and don't care about the health of the animals at all. There's always several dead fish in their tanks, not to mention that there are always several dead and dying bettas on display. When notified of the state of these fish, employees reluctantly check on them, then confidently declare they're "doing fine." It's horrific. Also the last few times I've been in the store, there's a stench of rotting flesh. I can see that there are certain fish that have remained on the betta rack for several days after dying. I know because I saw them there dead the last time I was

Not to impressed with this store or their Fish department. While looking at the salt water fish over the weekend I noticed that there were a lot of dead fish in almost every tank. One of their most expensive fish, the Yellow tailed Blue Tang was dead at the bottom of the tank for a while. This should be unacceptable for a pet store. They have Humuhumunukunukuapua'a in such a small tank no wonder why they die. And the bad think is they probably don't even know what fish I am even talking about!

I went to this pet store to browse the small animals in the hope of taking one home. When I found the little guy I was interested in, it took me a very long time to find someone to help me! They were either understaffed or not very vigilant. I ended up having to approach someone and ask them to call over the intercom for an associate to help me. Once he got there he was very helpful in recommending accessories and products to me and I appreciated the good customer service. Although my experience with small animals here was alright, I do not recommend that anyone have their dog groomed at branch stores such as PetCo or PetSmart as they do not have high standards for their groomers and they do not train them properly. They may not be informed of the specific needs of your breed and may cause injury due to negligence or ignorance.

This is the best PETCO ever for dog training. Chad Melson knows what he is doing. My dogs are so much better off going through his classes. They have really learned a lot. Lucky to have found him!

This is a pretty average Petco. We had just moved here and were in desperate need of dust for our chinchilla. (Anyone who knows about chinchillas, knows how important dust is!) We stopped in, only to be told they were out of stock. They offered to order it for us, but were unable to do so because their supplier was also out. They took down our phone number, and said they would check on the status of the dust everyday, and give us a call when it was in. Thankfully, the sweetest employee, and a fellow chinchilla owner, was kind enough to go into the back and get some dust out of the stash they use on the stores chinchillas to tie us over. And boy, am I glad she did! It was just over three weeks before we received the call that the dust was finally in! Although, everything happens for a reason... While waiting for the employees to figure out what was going on with the dust situation, I fell in the love with the sweetest face, and ended up bringing home another chinchilla that day! My sweet baby boy, Queso! I love how it seemed like every employee had a special connection with him, and a fun story to tell! Everyone came up to say goodbye to the little guy, and one employee even got teary eyed! It makes me believe that the animals are loved, and well taken care of! Thank you, Petco, for our newest furry family member!

My husband and I (and our little girl dog) were at Costco filling up gas for our car rental when we decided to make a trip to this store (although I did see this store when we first arrived in Fairbanks this past Saturday). After finding parking, we walked in (yes leashed dogs are welcomed) and were greeted by two friendly employees right away. My husband immediately saw these cute little soft dog booties (what my husband refers to as house slippers, lol) and decided to get 4 for our little girl (they range from different sizes from XXS to XXL. The XXS and XS cost $2.49 each, prior to tax). He though it would be a good idea for our little girl to wear them when he visits his mother's house with her (since my mother in law had made a comment about asking where were her shoes. My mother in law has hardwood floor and indirectly was making a comment about not wanting our little girl's paws to scratch the floor.... oh and yes our little girl wears Ruff Wear brand shoes for when we go hiking to protect her paws from rocks and jagged surfaces). What I thought was really interesting was that there is quite a selection of shoes available for dogs with different sizes and colors (although the "house slippers" only came in the color grey on our visit). There is also a large selection of different jackets, harnesses, treats, food, etc. I would say that Cold Spot Feeds seems to carry a much larger selection than most pet stores that I have shopped at (and I have shopped at a lot of them). Over 2 separate visits (we ended up visiting this store twice in one day because my husband thought it would be best to have two pairs of house slippers for our little girl... even though our little girl would rather have none, lol), we purchased 2 pairs of booties, meat sticks (that our little girl picked out herself, which I told my husband he had to pay for since he is making her wear these cute little house slippers against her own will) and a bag of lobster with cod treats. I really like this pet store and wished there was one like this back home. If I lived here, I would definitely be a regularly.

It was after 6 pm so we chose to rush to After Hours veterinarian clinic. The Vet Tech was very nice and got us in in a relative fast manor. Though my dog was bleeding and we showed our credit card we needed to fill out lengthy paperwork before Dr. Forster even came out to look at my dog. The "treatment" was done in the "shabby", smelly and not clean looking waiting area, which was very small. I explained what happened and Dr. F. looked superficially at my dog saying we have a few options, let me write a quote for you... A quote? Can we not discuss the options and I decide what is best? No I need to write a quote and then you decline what you do not want. After 10-15 minutes or so I get a lengthy quote with a cost of about $1000 plus dollars offering to stitch the lower chin laceration. I had to decline every item Dr. F suggested. I was taken aback by that procedure. Mind you I have had many animals, volunteered in Shleters and Vet Clinics, as well as have 1 semester of training as a Vet Tech under my belt as well as participated in many no cost vaccination clinics. I can tell when something is off. But I was frazzled as MY dog was injured. I declined them taking my dog back to the surgery room, but asked if they could make sure she is ok otherwise and nothing is missed. There was no further examination, no temperature measuring, no overall examination of any sorts. I was prescribed antibiotics and she was been given a 1st subcutaneous injection. I was charged $ 70 normal examination fee and a $ 80 after hours fee. Plus the Antibiotics. I came home to read the invoice in depth to see the explanation and charges, and it shows Dr. F did temp measure, an examination and other testing - but that is incorrect and false. The next day when giving my dog her meds I saw that she was trying to tap her lower lip with her paw, so I examined it closer to find the Vet missed that the lower lip was caught in the lower canine. I was upset to say the least. Thank goodness I have a bit of experience and was able to release the lip to avoid further damage. Dogs are resilient and lip injuries do heal faster than other places. I called the office asking for an office manager. The Tech who answered repeated multiple times there is no office manager and no one is available to talk to me even when I asked when I could talk to someone responsible to discuss my frustration. In my opionion a: Let me check and get back to you as soon as I find something out OR let me talk to the Vet who treated your dog and get back to you OR the owner of the clinic will get back to you. BUT NOTHING even in the vicinity of a caring response. I got a call from the owner eventually, who told me bluntly it is what it is and the lip got caught in the canine AFTER our visit. I shared mt frustration and to avoid any negative posts on public media I asked if as a gesture to waive the after hours fee, but she insulted me and hung up. I tried getting a refund through my credit card disputing a partial charge, but that was declined too. They are not compassionate, not empathetic and money seeking. I cannot recommend you trust your pet in their hands. I would NOT have shared this lengthy and detailed experience if the owner would have understood that mistakes can happen and refunded the partial amount I asked for the missed injury. PLEASE - if you love your pet - do avoid going here at all
