Located at FM1960/FM 529, always clean, well lit. As you walk in, you're greeted with a smile. Most times Marcko is working. Recently, my baby kitty Sparky passed. I had to go get dog food, so was going to donate Sparky's unused food. As I walked in, I walked up to the checkout, Marcko was ever so kind as I could barely talk. I ended up leaving before purchasing anything. On my way out, Marcko brought me a stuffed cat and a warm smile. It touched me so much, I had to take a moment outside before going to my truck. Visited the Vetco at this location. Had a Saturday appointment for 4 o'clock. After checking in and waiting 40 minutes, we were told that our dogs needed proof of their rabies vaccinations. These vets don't care about dogs, this is just a cash grab. I listen to them check people in and astronomical prices for treatment of dogs that haven't been there before. I would never recommend this place to anyone. One star would be zero stars if they would allow it. read more

The fish here are always showing obvious symptoms of betta sickness and the water is either extremely cloudy (too much treatment) or there is not any treatment added before they place the fish into tap water. When dealing with something that involves another living being, no matter how big or how small, the staff should be educated on the proper care for these animals. All of them. It's so sad the lack of effort at this location in particular, I've not had issues as bad as these at any other pet store at all. Attempted to call during store hours and schedule a grooming appt for dog nail clipping. Voice mail stated to schedule grooming needs using the Petco app. So I set up an account, located my store (eldridge town center for 15 years) and didn't see the service offered until I scrolled to the bottom of the screen and there was a green box with a star and the words "Groomer Tips: Walk into any salon for nail trim services without an appointment!" So, I walk in with dog to get nails cut. Groomers say: "No we don't do walk in nail clipping. You must schedule an appt." Manager says "Ignore app. That is a message from 3 years ago, before COVID. Now we don't have enough groomers for walk ins." OK, I get it. What I don't get is why both the app, and the website still advertise walk in service, and why when calling to schedule an appt, advised to use app that provides outdated info. read more

I'll start off with how much anxiety I've had in trying to take my puppy to get his vaccinations due to a traumatic event at animal hospital. I lost the light of my life almost a year ago and it left me unable to even step foot in to any vet office. Today I decided we needed to find some cute clothes for the upcoming cold front but was immediately greeted with some of the happiest people I've met in quite some time. I instantly just felt comfortable and my anxiety ceased to exist because we practically met the entire store. Just because they love dogs. We ended up microchipping my "Tupac" and they weighed him and checked his temperature, eases, etc. I only asked to have him chipped but they went that extra length. They discovered he had an ear infection, cleaned his ears for free and sent us with meds and ear solution. It was so easy and no wait! The way they also set up their VETCO was sleek and modern. Basically a free standing podium to take your info and then a room made of all glass. It was extremely inviting and just made you feel you could trust them because you could openly see what they were doing with your baby. They provided me a folder with his info in it. No vet office has done this ever in the 35 years that I've had dogs. Usually it's stapled sheets of paper with numbers and verbiage no one understands. I'm returning next week to finish off his vaccinations because I left confident that they would really take care of us. read more

All the groomers were super friendly. My stylist, Aubrey, did an excellent job giving my poodle mix a summer shave.

This place did a bad job of training my dog. However, to be fair, it could just be that she's a free spirit who can't be tamed. She takes after my stubborn girlfriend. We took her to the leash class at the behest of my girlfriend......$150 down the drain. I could have bought a new dog with that money. During class, she pretty much did tricks that she already knew and got fed treats for it. Also, I think my dog has a grudge on us for taking her to these classes because she now pulls on her leash even harder. However, although Ellie didn't learn much from this course, the trainer was extremely caring and did a great job of keeping her attention during classes. I'll blame this one on Ellie. Also, a lot of the employees are helpful and have cool tattoos. 4 stars read more

Constantly they are out and always blame it on delivery. With the pet store competitions going on and the rumor of them actually merging, I need to talk about ole petco. Maybe I'm biased but I feel they were the first ones to offer the grain free/healthier options for my animals. Maybe it was launched at the same time? But this is based On my perception. The store is one of their older stores, but they recently remodeled. You can still feel the age of the store, however. Everyone there is friendly and I love their rewards. With as many animals I have a little savings is pivotal to me. We have used the salon there too. They're about the same price as petsmart, so either or if good for my pups. But the ladies here have recently been remembering my pups. So the little things make me want to keep going back :) I dislike they don't match their online prices. This is frustrating because almost every store that has a brick and mortar and a online site honor the cheaper price. Maybe something to work on for the customers. Overall. Great store. read more

Joan is the instructor and she very knowledgeable about training dogs. At first it I didn't understand her methods but after the first week or two I saw results and began to understand how the training process works. I usually love this petco because I've got both of my beautiful comet gold fishes here but today I had the WORST experience ever. So I came in looking for a snail for my aquarium and there was only one worker in the back, cleaning the aquariums so I decided to ask her politely "can you help me with something? Are you busy?" And she turned around, rolled her eyes and said yes she's busy. Whomever the lady is in the red hair working here needs to be fired or disciplined, so she snatches the snail , throws it in a container , and puts it in a bag. Through out this process she was huffing, puffing and I could tell she was rushing and trying to get me out of her hair. The lady at the counter who normally helps me with my fish needs was asked if the snail was alive since it was basically being mistreated and neglected by the rude red head in the back. She told me that if it is dead that I could come in with a sample of the water in the bag and the water form my tank for a refund. Why would I hold on to smelly fish water from petco for 30 days? My snail has not moved once, and I am so extremely disappointed in the service I got today, I hope a PETCO representative from this store reaches out to me to resolve the employees obvious lack of respect for anyone. read more

Poor nail trim service and the girl was rude to us from the moment we walked in. My husband and I went to look at an item in store while he got his nails cut and not 5 minutes after we dropped our dog off he was brought to us because he was "attacking dogs" on the tables. We have an easily excitable puppy who listens to basic commands and can be bribed by treats. We have also brought our dog to this same employee a few times. Anyone who works with dogs could see that and if my dogs nails would've been cut right, I could handle the rudeness. Sadly I Will not be coming back. read more
