Best grooming in Houston. Period. You might really like your fancy groomer, you might feel super awesome about paying more than you should. Maybe you're the kind of person who orders bottled Dasani water at the movies at the "reasonable" price of $4.25. Maybe you gave up on toilet paper and leave a stack of Andrew Jacksons by the throne to wipe with. Even still, maybe you don't like doing your laundry so you buy clothing to discard after one wear. e However, if you like high end things but don't think you should pay ridiculously inflated prices.... this is your dog's groomer. Fido will still look and SMELL amazeballs, but you won't feel like someone tried to express your anal glands in the process. Misty is thorough, incredibly sweet and a charmer with our four legged friends.... better yet, she just strikes me as a good person. All of my family takes their small dogs here. Everyone is very nice and I have never gotten a bad vibe here. My dogs do not seem traumatized afterwards so I'm sure they take good care of them and do not mistreat the animals. The only reason I docked a star is because the owner does charge more, for anything it seems... I have 2 poms and one has more hair than the other And does not like to be brushed as well as the other. We keep them furry during the winter so this visit it had been a long time since the last visit, little bundles of fur they are, especially the one with more hair. Yet she is not matted... But he is going to charge $10-15 more (making that a total of $35 turn to $45-50) she may have a couple knots, but nothing crazy and definitely no matting. I can't run my fingers through my own hair at any given moment either. I probably wouldn't complain about the price here but I had brought in a dog who was In fact really matted, not knotted, but matted. solid pieces of hair balls throughout her coat and they charged $45, or $50, I don't remember. But I was fine with that because this dog needed it (she passed a few weeks later) and besides that matted precious thing, we have paid $35 for the hairy Pom there before... So idk why the price ranges... Guess it depends on his mood on what to charge that day... Either way my pups need a hair cut and this place is still a good price. But basically, if your dogs hair is not groomed better than your own you might end up getting charged more. I dropped my poms off at about 9:45 and by 5pm I have them a call and got a "oh, yeah they're ready" and they seemed really thirsty and relieved themselves for about a minute... I used to use a groomer in my neighborhood, but she was unreliable. I found Village Groomer and have been happy for many years now. They are wonderful with my doggies and keep the schedule you make. They also do nail trims on a walk in basis. Everyone is wonderful and they remember who you are. I would never use anyone else! read more

I absolutely love this place. We have been going here for about 3 years now and I would not take my dogs anywhere else. I have a yellow lap that is my mom's that I bring in every 3 months to be shaved as low as possible and Ebose is the only one that will groom him to our needs. My mom's husband is on dialysis and this is medically necessary for him to be groomed this short. I also have a large rhodesian ridgeback that I bring in 1-2 times a year for bathing and they have always taken great care of them. Never have they come home hurt or looking upset. My dog Lyte is 16 year old cacapoo, so she's an old Lady. Let me tell you, Lyte loves the Village Groomer. Lyte is a finicky gal and we started going to The Village Groomer when we moved to Houston from Philadelphia. Through an unfortunate turn of events Lyte was really behind on her grooming. I spoke to Misty the Certified Groomer and made arrangements for Lyte. Lyte was so happy to get there she started whimpering when we pulled into the drive way. This place is awesome. They are extremely conservative on their pricing, do a great job grooming my Papillion and my Schnauzer mix. My dogs love going there. You can tell the staff really cares about the animals. These negative reviews are hog wash. I was a vet-tech for 6 years and I know what a good groomer is all about as I had a Shih-Tzu before these guys. so it's been about 2 years and I stopped using this groomer some time ago, but before I updated my review I wanted to give my dog 3 add'l visits at another groomer before I write anything. So every single time I brought my dog here she would come home extremely lethargic, throw up, have the runs, and wouldn't eat or drink for a day or two after returning home 2 times like this I finally asked what the deal is? they said "oh well your dog gets aggressive and bites" mind you I have a 8 lb maltipoo, but hey you never know right? and I asked "why hasn't this been mentioned to me?" I got "oh well she's still a puppy and she might grow out of it" They showed me a video of my dog acting a crazy fool so I thought "mmm ok maybe she is being a pain in the butt" so I went to the vet and got her something to take to chill her out. That did not help! at that point I started think "I wonder if they are missing with my dog??" so since they had already raised my price every single time 'cuz my dog was soooo "aggressive" I decided to take her to Pet Smart and told them that I had been told my dog is "aggressive" and a "biter", but I also told them I suspected she had been mistreated, thus she's extremely nervous. After our first visit to another groomer my dog came home happy and not sick! They did say that they could tell that she was extremely scared, however was far from aggressive and never tried to bite anyone. 3rd groomer session at the new groomer and my dog is a PRO! Stay away from this place! Imagine my disappointment when I recommended this place prior to me realizing that my dog wasn't the problem to a friend who also has a lil dog and reported the same issues as mine dog came home with....smh! I brought my 10 lb poodle in for the 3rd time on 2/12/14. Previously I have had ok experiences here. I understand that my dog probably doesn't enjoy being groomed. And I also understand that mistakes happen. He was cut on a previous visit once. But the groomer came out and spoke to me herself, showed me the cut, explained the situation. Which I feel like thats the exact way to handle it. This time I pick him up, go home and a few hours go by and I notice he is grooming himself a lot. And keeps doing this for several more hours. I'm not paying super close attention at first. Animals do this. Well later hes cuddled up to me on the couch and still grooming. Its driving me mad the constant licking. Finally I tell him to stop, roll him over to see what's bothering him. What I saw shocked me and made me sad and mad at the same time. On his belly was a open cut, and so I look more closely and see 2 more cuts. I was so stressed and worried. I didn't know when or if I should take him to the vet. I didn't know if it would get infected or what. My fiance convinced me to just keep an eye on it and if started looking infected to go from there. I can't tell you what happened while he was there. I don't know because they didn't tell me this time. What I do know is I don't feel comfortable bringing him back. Like I said, I know things happen but they cut him 3 times w/o informing me. Luckily I kept him from licking (as much as possible) and it did eventually heal. The fur there is still stained from the blood tho. read more

Business has really went down. The new staff does not communicate properly and the management is unapologetic about it. Instead of accommodating the customer, it is more important for them to loose loyal customers. So in a nutshell you could try them, be disappointed and then find another groomer. I was very pleased with their service the 1st time I went. But then all of a sudden I called to make the 2nd apt for both my dogs (shizt-Zus) And the girl that answered the phone told me they are no longer open on a Saturday. However I do have the option of leaving the dogs their overnite & pay a small fee. I explained I would call her back. I called back a couple of days later and she then told me they did not offer that service anymore. They are only there M-F 9-6. I explained I work, she told me to take 1/2 a day off to take my dogs to them !! What?????? I explained I was not pleased and they were not the only place in Town, So I would take my MONEY & BUSINESS Somewhere else, her response was That's Is Good & Fine with Us. Very Rude (Younger girl) Obviously is not the owner and has NO CLUE the IMPACT to the business, But I would never waste my own personal time ( Sick or Vacation) to take my dogs for a haricut, SO BYE BYE DOG GROOMING 1 sTAR place. read more

VERY ANNOYED AT THIS PLACE. Called to make an appointment for both of my dogs. I was denied because I have a pit bull. "No, we don't do pit bulls" is her exact words. When I asked "Why?", she tells me that "Pit bulls are too aggressive". Excuse me? I wouldn't take my dog anywhere if he was too aggressive. So I proceed to tell her that "That's a bold statement, don't you think?". She tells me that they have alot of small dogs here. I continue to tell her "Well that's still a bold statement. Those smaller dogs can be more aggressive than my dog." I disagree with their policy, but I disagree more with their ignorance. EDUCATE YOURSELVES. read more

I waited a few hours to calm down and try to be fair but I am very displeased with Village Groomers. I tried to make an appointment for my dog for Saturday the 21st but they were completely booked. The lady who answered the phone told me they were completely booked but they were making appointments for Sunday to get everyone in. I was happy because my family is having pictures taken for the holidays and it was a bit last minute for petsmart. I bring my pooch in on Sunday at his appointment time and the groomer tells me I do not have an appointment. Whoever wrote down my appointment had it for Monday instead of Sunday which the groomer tried to convince me that I must have gotten the day wrong. I understand that it's an hour before you close on a day when you're normally closed and that you were the only groomer there but do not tell me I made the wrong appointment when I specifically requested a particular day and I was told by a member of your establishment I was set for Sunday. I'm not sure if this place does a good job or not but their customer service was horrible. read more

I have a beautiful Golden Retriever and brought him here for a trim. BIG mistake! Specifically told the guy to keep him long, and what did this guy do? He shaved my beautiful boy! He was not matted and there was no reason to shave him. Goldens shouldn't ever be shaved except for medical reasons. Then, on top of that, he charged us $75. Also, I am having to take my sweet dog to the vet. today because he shaved the inside of his ears so close that they are very red and irritated. Stay away from here if you love your dog! read more
