I'm deeply disappointed by our experience with Cypress Veterinary Hospital. Over a span of six months, our vet ran three different sets of lab work and even conducted a specific Cushing's disease test. Despite all of this testing and the considerable expense we had already incurred, they still refused to diagnose her with Cushing's or start treatment. The vet even admitted that her gut instinct said it was Cushing's, but she refused to act on it. Instead, she relied on an AI tool that claimed only a 53% chance. It felt like the AI was more about protecting the clinic's bottom line than actually helping our dog. In the end, we sought a second opinion. The new vet reviewed the same clinical notes and confirmed without a doubt that it was Cushing's, no extra tests or lab work was needed. They started treatment immediately. Our dog suffered unnecessarily for months because the vet here prioritized AI-driven uncertainty over clinical data, clinical symptoms and common sense. If you go here, I highly recommend you to ask for a copy of all the clinical notes, labs and test results and get a second opinion. Educate yourself, use AI that is available to the public (ChatGPT) to help you understand your animal's health condition and advocate for your animal! read more

My father had the worst experience here. he brought my 18 yr cat who is suddenly dying to be euthanize so she wouldnt suffer. my dad only wanted to hold her so that she would feel safe and comfortable during her passing. Dr. Poynter took the paprework and balled it up in front of my dad! He said he would not allow my dad back there to be with our pet while she is dying. I'm sure he enjoys the cruelty, which is why, he wants to be alone with our old confused and dying cat. This man has to answer his own clinic phone bc he likely is too toxic to keep a single employe. I absolutely adore these people! I moved from NM and wanted a new vet for my chihuahua mix, at the time I thought my baby had an ear infection. They were able to see me that same week! I took her in again for a teeth cleaning. I was so nervous about putting her under but the Dr gave me a call as soon as they were done (in under 2 hours) and reassured me that she was fine. So naturally, I wanted them to be my Lab's veterinarian as well! I had some concerns about my lab having bumps along her body. I had brought up this concern with her previous vets (Banfield) and they basically told me they can't do anything for me and I would have to be referred to another Vet. Dr. Richards took a sample of my dog's bump and told me within 10-15mins that it was nothing to worry about! And they're affordable! You can tell from the culture in this place that everyone, from the receptionists to the vet assistants, truly care about your dog and it's not just a 9 to 5 to these people! read more

Don't recommend going here at all after my last visit, we went to the vet for my puppies last set of shots and these suppose "professionals" double dosed both my puppies on there vaccinations basically just stole over $1500 of mine then proceeded to say I bought my puppies from a hole in the wall. Very disrespectful when I called back the owner wasn't even paying any attention to my phone call had me on speaker talking to me from across the room just felt like they truly didn't care about the well being of my animals. If they truly are professionals my puppies wouldn't have got two doses who doesn't check for the records when we have them in our possession? First of all, their address is 12002 Cypress N. Houston, in Cypress. Dr. Ricardo Caballero is the owner and primary Vet in this small clinic with a huge heart. In fact, Dr. C. has even added a dog park to the property behind his clinic in memory of his dog, Reba. We've taken our Yorkie there since 2004 - he has epilepsy. Dr. C. goes way beyond what we've ever seen a vet do and we definitely appreciate it. As an example, Vinnie, our Yorkie, hates to be caged and has even had a seizure when he is. When he had to have mouth surgery, rather than keep him caged overnight, we were able to take him home once he was out of the anesthesia and give his IV medications there in the comfort of his usual surroundings. No question is too small here, and owners are encouraged to be an active part of their pet's care. Dr. Caballero makes it a point to keep current on the latest treatments and is equipped for laser surgery. He's also spent time researching canine epilepsy, which is definitely a plus for us and for Vinnie. He'll always return a phone call if he isn't available and will work with you to ensure that your pet gets the best of care - from you as the owner and he as the healthcare professional. We were delighted to learn that he's a Purdue alum, as are my daughter and I - and now if we could only get him to tile over that huge burgundy Texas A&M logo on the waiting room floor all would be...well, you get the message! Are we pleased? Definitely! Would we recommend him? I only wish they had ten stars! In fact, over the time that we've taken Vinnie here, we've come to feel that Ricardo Caballero is a friend as well as a vet. That he cares about his patients and their families is very obvious. Our first visit was a week ago. Our 16-yr-old kitty needed immediate attention re: chronic kidney issues. From the moment we called for an appointment to the time we saw Dr. Caballero, we could not have been treated with more compassion. We were treated as individuals with specific needs; the office manager even asking detailed questions as to our kitty's previous care. We had our vet records transferred overnight. Dr. "C" had read the entire 16-yr. history over night and was aware of all our kitty's health issues, not just her kidneys! He didn't have to flip through papers in her chart, he had retained the information in his memory. Seriously, how many vets do that?? He was very knowledgeable about kidney issues; underlying issues that might contribute to her kidney issues; various courses of treatment, etc. He thoroughly explained various courses of action and never once talked down to us, or tried to rush the appointment. Warm, cordial, and definitely shows he cares about animals! All these 5-star ratings are to be trusted. There's no way I'll go back to my old vet; these people are awesome in every way. My Dane doesn't like the vet office I found out the first time I took him in there, the staff was gracious enough to allow me to continue to bring him there regardless of his rather foul temperament there. He doesn't act like that anywhere else, a bit perplexing but I certainly don't blame the staff. I chose this vet before getting my new puppy because he has great reviews and was glad I did when shortly after getting my puppy she collapsed one morning. Their staff and Dr. Caballero went right to work to get her examined. Fortunately, it was a minor issue and I was impressed that he did not want to prescribe any meds as none were needed he said. We just had to make the tough decision of putting down our dog down yesterday. We had been to another clinic a few months back, but decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Freddy was the one who attended us. We greatly appreciate the straight to the point and informative diagnosis he made. It was such a difficult decision for us, but we felt like Dr. Freddy definitely cared about our dog and was honest about the reality of the situation. We are confident we made the right decision, so that gives us some peace. The staff also was so nice and did not rush us after we let our dog go. I took my dog to this veterinarian hospital for a condition that a previous vet was unable to fix for several months. Dr. Caballero put a diet plan in motion prescribed meds etc and within a week she was appearing to not be in pain and was responding well with prescription dog food. The entire staff are very caring individuals who have only respect and understanding for the fact that your animals are your family. They are reasonable in cost. Most importantly is Dr. Cabellero is an excellent vet who explained to me in detail what was wrong and how to fix it. My dog is almost 11yrs old and suffered for almost a year because I trusted the wrong vet. I will forever be grateful for this vetrinarian hospital. I will recommend them to anyone who needs a vetrinarian in the future. The staff from the first phone call were wonderful. I need to mention the receptionist is extremely friendly and sweet. The entire visit was wonderful. I learned things about my dog that shocked me ..such as even my elder dog needs spaying to prevent breast cancer. Thanks ! read more

Dr. C and his staff are amazing and truly care about the animals! I called over 20 animal clinics because my puppy had a hook stuck in her mouth before I called Cypress Animal Hospital. I only had $30 in my account and it was going to cost a lot more than that to get my puppy help! No other animal clinic would allow me to make payments. I am a student and I was denied Care Credit. I called Dr. C and he told me to bring my baby in. She's a rescue pup and they took very good care of her! My pups name is Raven. Her and her brother found me! Not only did he work with me on payments, he was so thrilled that these pups found a loving home that he gave me dewormer for both and a free bag of dog food! I get to the counter to set up payments and he only charged me for the lidocaine. That is a vet that truly cares about the animals!
