This place is awful- they wanted to charge me 10 cents for my purchase- How cheap can you get - no more- I will go to Pets Mart

So over the weekend I saw an ad that the entire stock of nylabone dog toys, kong dog toys, treats etc were buy 2 get 1 free. I am dog sitting my grand dog #mansbestfriend so I thought I would grab these since getting one free is a great deal. I was looking and found 3 nylabones exactly the same price and they were on sale/clearance. My lucky day! I went to the register and when the young man rang them up he said the sale was over. I pointed to the sign that said they were clearly on sale. He tried to get it to work but could not so he told me it wasn't working did I want to just buy 2 of them. I said do I get the third one free and he said no it wouldn't ring up. I told him to call a manager over so I could get the sale. He called the manager (at least that's who he said he called) over and he told her he couldn't get it to work. She told him to plug in my PALS number. He did this and it still wouldn't work. The manager quickly looked at the bones I had and told me it was probably because they were already marked down. I said ad said "entire stock". She just said no it's probably because they were on sale. I left without purchasing anything. I will put a picture of the ad attached. read more

My dog has been going to a trainer named Eric at the Petco in Kenner. He is a great trainer. My grandson had gotten me a husky. I had a standard poodle for 12 years. But it was looking like the husky was going to be too much for me to handle. At one point I thought I would need to find him another home. But since working with Eric my dog has come a million miles. I now have confidence that my dog and I will have a great life together! Many thanks to Eric! read more

Went here for my first time ever tonight, usuallly go to PetSmart, but we were visiting Walmart grocery next door. WaLked in at 6:50 just to look at the adoptable pets, and wasn't two feet inside the door when the cleaning lady very rudely told us they were closing. I told her very politely that we were just trying to look for a minute and weren't causing any harm and she very rudely again told me to get out. Won't ever ever ever go here again. read more

I've been to several Petco stores, including in Alabama and none of them really impress me. This one in particular even less. I can never find a worker there around to help me find something and usually when I'm ready to check out there's no one at the register and I have to wait. It's just annoying to come here and it shouldn't be. I have yet to find a descent place to shop for my dog without a hassle. read more

I took my nephew here the other day so he could look at the kitties. I really enjoyed the fact how they push for older cat adoptions instead of kittens. The cashier came up to us and unlocked one of the doors so we could pet one of the kitties. The cashier was very friendly and chatted with us a bit until she was needed at the register. After that, we ended up looking at the other animals. When we got to the turtles, the pet care guy came up to us and asked if we would like to watch him feed the turtles. He was also very informative with all the questions I had to ask. Petco is also known to have a great selection of different pet foods. They seem to have a larger selection than Petsmart. Visited last week or so, the employee at the checkout (who was also a dog groomer) was super sweet and we had a quick convo about our animals, I shared about my cat and Bearded dragon. Very clean store, lots of helpful employees and will come here for everything for my pets. Great experience! Although I can't decide if I like the smell in the store or I don't?.... either way! Just left this Petco and couldn't get help There may have been 4 people working in the store with 3 being at the cash register and 1 working in the back. Most of the fish tank lights were off and I couldnt get anybody to sell me fish. Petco may be cutting hours and thats fine but they just lost a $50 sale and I sure others due to no help. I will say the employees were work, just not enough. read more

Grooming dept did an amazing job on my yellow lab Tucker. He smells good and got furminated.

Plenty of customer service, an excellent shopping experience. Found the "scratch and dent"'section, and got a few good deals on dog food. I prefer this location to the one on Tchopitoulas, as their employees are helpful, cheerful, and not engrossed by what is on their telephones. read more

Went to get some information about a future pet and the first staff member was not to happy that we asked a question but eventually we found a second employee that was friendly and gave us a lot of information. He even let the kids pet one of the sweet animals. read more

Got my puppy groomed for the first time here. I was very happy with the end result. I originally scheduled a bath and haircut because I really didn't know what he needed. I have a small mixed breed dog with short fur. When i got there and the service provider saw Tucker, and asked me what I wanted, (which really was just a shape up haircut. Just clean up his little scruffies around his face and paws), he suggested that I get the package for just a bath and add an upgrade service which provided 3 add on services. It ended up coming out cheaper than what I originally scheduled and Tucker got a nice bath, which included a brush out, ears cleans, nails trimmed, and his shape up haircut, blueberry facial and teeth brushed! I couldn't have been more happy and it was exactly what I wanted. I already made his next appointment for 6 weeks and can not wait to take him back. Btw, he smelled amazing and still does! read more

The service and staff are exceptional. The grooming is the part that needs serious work. I'd much rather take my pup to a professional groomer than these people. The store is in great shape, management and service are doing an excellent job. read more

Took my dog here for grooming. My dog isn't the most well behaved when going to the groomer but the lady who did her, did an exceptional job! I will be going to this petco from now on. read more

This place is disgusting. Smell hits you immediately upon walking in. Employees are so rude that it's unbelievable. I've watched management bully "lesser" employees multiple times. I've had nothing but negative experiences here and I'd rather order what I need off of amazon than visit this petco. read more

This place is a joke. All of their feed on the shelf is dead and when you tell the employees they don't seem to care at all. Their training programs don't do anything for the pets either and it's a waste of time and money. The cashiers act like their lives are so hard and can't be bothered with your concerns. The store is disgusting. It always has some strange smell. Anyway the main reason to write this review is about their saltwater fish. This review is not for the store in Kenner, it is for entire Petco. Whatever fish I bought from them, either they are sick or dying. It all started when I first bought the Blue Tang and it comes with ick. There is no ick before I purchased the Blue Tang. As per the company policy there is no warranty when the saltwater fish is purchased from the store. After few day the ick spread. I treat them with some medication but one of my Clown Fish died in the process. When the treatment is over and I don't see any ick I waited for few weeks and purchased a Koran Angle from their store in Alexandria, LA. Just in two weeks his eyes are cloudy. Exactly Eight days ago I purchased a Flame Angel from their Alexandria store, It also comes with ick, and started the treatment again, but today on 3/17/2014 when I wake up she died too. I called to their customer servise and after almost 35 min of hold and five min of conversation the agent very polity pardon me and blame me that there is something wrong with my setup. She said this after 10-15 min of conversation with her supervise; the supervisor never came to the phone. So do yourself a favor and don't buy any fish from Petco. There fishes are sick either you buy from Kenner La or Alexandria La or from anywhere. If the readers are agree with my above post, please spread it around. Thank You, read more
