Grooming Service After making an appointment for my dog, I arrived on a rainy morning for my appointment and the staff and the office manager decided to not to take my dog due to her age. They didn't have the courtesy to call me in advance and informed me that do not accept elderly dogs. All of the staff were rude and bias because of my dog's age. We took our pet here for his vaccines because it closes to home. We didn't realize it's a mobile clinic. It's such a hassle to get answers especially with prescription. They had me call Pasadena location for questions. When I called Pasadena, the people said I have to wait until my next visit to ask because they don't have the answer. I'm new to this area and unhappy because after they transferred me to many people, I still didn't get my answer and I guess I have to wait until Feb for my pet next visit read more

Made grooming appointment via App, since the store is busy to answer their phone. The app, doesn't show confirmed appointments and cannot make 2 appointments at the same time if you have multiple pets (you need to call in) Because you cannot view or receive an email of scheduled appointments I accidentally over booked appointments. Unfortunately my regular grooming place (Poochies on Portrero Grande) was booked for over a month I had to go to Petco. They're styling isn't that great. They have nice employees. Grooming service We usually take my dog to PetSmart but since they weren't available we ended up going to Petco. BIGGEST mistake ever. When we dropped him off the room didn't smell but when we came to pick him up it reeked. They also didn't allow us to see MY dog until we paid, and now I know why. Usually when I pick him up from his bath he smells fresh and clean. Since I couldn't really smell him bc of the bad odor in the room, while driving back home I could smell the odor still, when I got close to my dog, I realized he smelled like the scent from the room and a mix of wet dog and shampoo, they definitely had done a half ass job. They even left his coat feeling rough from his lower body. I had to come home and shower him again bc of the bad odor, definitely not worth the $50 read more

The grooming salon never picks up their phone. I wanted to ask if they had time for a dog nail trim and if my dogs shots were in the system. Never answered, but on the petco website it says it's a walk in service. So I walk in for the nail trim with my shot records and they ask if I made an appt online. There is no way for me to make a nail appt online....because it's a walk in service! And then the groomer asks if I wanna make an appt. I agree and I'm thinking it will be that day. No, she wanted to book the appt for a walk in service 4 days away. Of course I didn't make that appt and I went to Poochie's dog grooming instead and I was very happy by their service. The shopping center in which this Petco exists has become somewhat of a wasteland over the years. If it weren't for an event I was attending in the area, I doubt I would ever purposely shop here in the future again. I'll tell ya' why... Boxes everywhere. Mobile carts in the way. Staff is usually friendly, but always preoccupied and not going out of their way to move said boxes and mobile carts. Expired canned cat food on clearance. Maybe it can't be that bad to feed it to them, but best by April 2019? Ordering online to pick up at this Petco has been quite a flop... Items say they are in stock on their website, then a few hours later I'll receive an email stating that some items were unavailable. Makes me all Sebastian Maniscalco and "you bother me." read more

I went right afte work to pick up cat food, my girlfriend had ordered. We called the night before to make sure my girlfriend did not have to be there when the catfood was picked up and an employee said "no" just give a name. I arrived early in the morning and an employee opened the door and right off the bat I got a bunch of sass. He would not give me the cat food without an order number. I told me him I would like to speak to a manager and he told me he was the manager. I told him an employee last night told me all I needed was a name, and he continued with his sassy personality and he gave me a hard time. I told him if he could please train his employees to properly answer questions and he gave me the weirdest look. He treated me like a potential criminal, instead of being a reasonable customer. I brought my dog for grooming. I would do it myself but my doggy razor stopped working. I was happy until I went to pick him up. No, he looked fine, but the lady told me he was "infested" w fleas (of course they charge me the de-fleeing fee). I have never, ever seen one flea on my light colored dog, ever! So I get home and my poor baby is completely raw on his underside (see photo). She wanted me to think he did this. I know my dogs body every inch and he NEVER looked like this. They did this to him. I came to see her again for my regular nail trimming and buffing only to find out that she is "no longer with the company." No word on why... and apparently there's a new company policy where if your dog shows any sign of aggression, they can't take it. My dog growls but has never actually bitten anyone before. Now I can't get my dog's nails cut here anymore. I understand the reasoning, but I feel betrayed by Petco. read more

My wife and I always come to Petco to buy treats and dog food for our dogs and other items for our other pets.

I had a very disappointing experience with the website yesterday, so I had to physically come in to make a pickup of literally 7/8 of what I'd ordered. However, there is a happy ending here, because I was greeted and helped by a smart, friendly employee when I entered the store, and he made it all better! I was able to find different items to replace what I'd needed, and he retrieved my online orders while I was shopping, so everything was ready when I checked out. This cheerful and quick employee is named Marcanthony, and I'd literally come back to this store just to have his assistance. He anticipated needs and was funny, too. He really made the day much better! read more

Lemme just say this will be a long one I've been shopping here for a while. And lemme just say stephanie the manager thinks she's the ruler of the petco. She legit doesn't know how to be nice, she only knows how to have a sour attitude and not help. Like I tried to return 3 things that came up to $60 all together... they didn't work I didn't like them for my fish tank they caused issues. But she gave me $20 for all of them, she also over charged me for the sand being sold in store. It was supposed to be $5 each but it was $10. Ah yes and let's add another thing to it. I recently bought fish from here (on Tuesday) and it died on Thursday. Like I don't know if it contaminated my tank, there's like 5 or 6 fish in it and now those might die because these people wanted to sell me sick fish. Like this is so sad for the poor fish I wanted to give it a good life and it didn't even get that chance. Like the tank was cycled and had no ammonia in it and this picture is proof of that. I've called and it seems like I'm not gonna get my money back for the fish and I have no receipt for it since I didn't expect the fish to die. Now I won't be getting my money back for it and my fish can die from an illness all because of this petco location. Go to El Montes location the manager there is such a sweetheart. Groomer did NOT LISTEN. I am very upset When I walked into the grooming station this morning I specifically told my groomer (Allene P) that since my dog has a double coat, I did NOT want him to be shaven, and since his hair length is about 5 inches across his body, I would want about half the length so that his hair is still roughly 2.5 inches. I clarified this in about 4 different ways, taking the time to show the groomer specifically how long I wanted by holding up his hair on his body and indicating how long I wanted his length. She seemed confused and showed me the "hair length" board and said she wanted to do half an inch, and I specifically instructed her "No, I do not want his hair that short" since he needs to have long hair. I pointed to his face hair length (which is shorter than his body) and said I want that length across his body. Finally, she seemed to understand and repeated that she would cut his hair about half of the length he currently has. When I went to pick him up a few hours later, I was shocked to see that she had NOT listened to my instructions at all and that my dog had been shaved. He is a Great Pyrenees mix and his hair will grow differently if he is shaved. The first thing I said was "Oh my God why is it so short?!" and the groomer had the audacity to respond with "it's not short." I told her that I had asked for two and a half inches and this is definitely a 1/2 inch length. In addition, she had not even cut his tail hair at all so the original hair length was even visible, and she could clearly see that half of his length was wrong. She tried to laugh it off and say "it's okay" and I simply responded with, "actually, I'm very upset right now." She tried to tell me that there was no longer clip option, but I previously had an amazing grooming experience at the same location a few months ago where they did a great job of keeping his hair length long. I brought him in and I always pay extra to make he gets the hydrate and restore ! They rushed him ! And even admitted they didn't have time to fully dry him off ! Well he got a " hot spot " I told them he has dry skin and that's why I bring him in to get his skin restored and hydrated but since they rushed him he developed a hot spot ! This review is for their grooming services only. We have 2 dogs that we normally take here - one for a bath and one for haircut and bath. The majority of times there hasn't been an issue other than a long wait time since they only allow 1 customer inside at a time, which leaves us waiting outside for 20 minutes even if it's just to pick up our dog. Recently they adopted a new policy where if the dog doesn't willingly come back with them then they can't take them in, which I sort of understood, but also we have one very nervous dog... so at one of her bath appointments she got too scared to go in and we had to reschedule and make another appointment. For our other dog, they did a horrendous job cutting his hair the most recent time, but I made my peace with it since they said he was being difficult to work with when it came to touching his paws which I totally understood. They recommended I book with a certain person since she can handle difficult dogs, so that's what I did a few months later. It took 20 minutes for us to finally check him in and things were going well - he wasn't resisting on going in or anything, but the stylist looked at his face and asked me if his eyes were normally red. I said yes, sometimes he does have a pinkish hue around it and it probably doesn't help that his hair is long and poking them. She said that she couldn't take him back because if she bathed and/or cut his hair then it would irritate his eyes so she couldn't work on him due to "safety reasons". She said I should get eye drops and reschedule and I'm sitting there thinking what the actual heck??? So I ask her what if I get these eye drops and his eyes are still red the next time I come in because that's just how his eyes are..... and she says maybe get eye drops from the vet instead and give them a call when his eyes are no longer red. I'm thinking to myself as if I'd ever come back here... like dude... if you don't want to work on my dog, just say so instead of wasting everyone's time!!! read more

I toke my husky in for a standard bath and brush because her usual groomer was booked. During check in, they did an inspection of her current condition and said everything was looking good. She developed a bad ear infection and an inflamed laceration in between her paw AFTER her appointment. This costed me $300 in vet bill and my dog has to be on 2 different medications. Worst part was I called back to see what had happened and was told the manager will call me back. NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK; COMPLETE RADIO SILENCE. Truly disappointed after spending literally hundreds dollars on my daughter's aquarium and supplies. We had a problem with a crayfish that died in 48 hours after purchase. Instead of honoring their online replacement policy the said first said due to COVID-19 they weren't accepting returns, but they "might" if we brought back a separate water sample and a few other hoops to get an exchange. Even that would gave been ok, except the attitude suggested even if we did that, they might, again with COVID-19 as the excuse, no accept returns. They it made so difficult for me to get my German shepherd in for a wash and clip nails. Came in Thursday and wouldn't take him in because the proof of vaccination wasn't the one "they wanted"so they called the vet. Vet doesn't pick up. Made an appointment for the next day, we call the vet they verified he's up to date. l leave 10 mins later l get a call, sorry we can't take him he's stressing too much in the kennel. Called earlier today in hopes of getting my 5 month old Havanese puppy a grooming, I called and was enthusiastically greeted by grooming employee named Alex, she was very courteous, professional, and helpful! She gave me advice for my dogs special coat and let me tell you she did an AMAZING job with my dog. He smells and looks great! Couldn't be happier with my dogs result, she did exactly what I wanted my exceeded my expectations! Got all this done in the same day and I only waited a few hours! My only downside is the pricing is a little high, but you get what you pay for. Regardless I left a well deserved 40% tip! Thank you Alex for my great experience at Petco today. read more

Horrible customer service. The staff there are too busy rolling their eyes and have such a bad attitude. I witnessed the manager and cashier be rude to an older lady. Instead the male shift leader/manager was sarcastic and a straight up knucklehead.Instead of trying to resolve the issue with the elderly lady he was too busy being a smart Alec. Listen to the customer, have control and resolve in a calm manner. The cashier and the other cashier across the way were making faces at the lady behind her back. All I know is if that was my grandma I would told off all 3 of them. There's is no need to be rude. There is no need to humiliate a customer let alone talk about them when they are walking out. I am a customer at Petco. I would like to share my experience at Petco when I took my puppy to Petco for vaccination on 3/4/2023 at Petco in Montebello, CA. I have a 16 weeks old puppy and I planned to come for her rabies vaccine. I arrived at the store around 11 am and I went through the check-in process. Everything was OK by then. The only thing was that my puppy was a little bit over-excited when meeting other dogs, so she barked several times. When Dr. Denise Hall preparing for the vaccines, she asked me to buy her recommended crate and collar/leash set to solve the puppy barking issue. I did not buy what she asked. Dr. Denise Hall's assistant tried to calm down the dog and it somehow worked. Then Dr. Denise Hall suddenly said "let me tell you how to do that" and she suddenly beat the table hard and shouted at my dog, "NO!". Then the puppy started to be scared and peed. My dog started barking again. Then I gave my puppy a hug, and she became quieter and calmer. At this point, Dr. Denise Hall came and pulled the blue leash Petco provided hard, suffocating my puppy. Then the puppy started to bark and pee again. Then Dr. Denise Hall came to insert the thermometer hard into the puppy's ear, but because of previous experience, the temperature was higher than expected. Dr. Denise Hall's way of solving that issue was to spray alcohol ALL OVER the puppy's body, which was too smelly, even to me. The puppy started to be scared and peed again. Dr. Denise Hall then came with a dog mouth muzzle to put on my puppy. Her assistant came to calm my puppy down and my puppy could calmly kiss her hand. The assistant and Dr. Denise asked me if I allowed some kind of restraining, I said OK. I thought It was fine. But then it was the time Dr. Denise Hall blamed me for not allowing her to finish her job. So I requested her to act gently, because I know my dog that if people are gentle then she will be gentle. She seemed to be irritated by my request: she said she was so experienced but I knew nothing about dogs. She clearly stated that she would not provide any service to my dog. She gave me a tube of dewormer, and let me do her job. I fed my puppy the dewormer right away in front of Dr. Denise Hall, and she was completely calm. As she refused service, I requested a refund and left. After I got home, I called the Petco store at Montebello to ask when I could come for a vaccination without meeting Dr. Denise, and an employee told me she did not know. I said it was fine. But after the first call, I received an email with the visit summary: Dr. Denise clearly stated that I did not allow them to restrain the dog, and the dog needed to be muzzled. However, I allowed restraining as she ordered, and the dog was muzzled using Petco's device. The medical record was completely a lie. After reading the medical record, I made another call, angrily asking who wrote this medical record. It comes out that Dr. Denise Hall wrote this note. Then immediately I decided to file a complaint with customer service. During the call with customer service, I received another email with a modified medical record, adding even more notes to list my fault; even more ridiculous, she blamed me for the two calls (she named the calls "repeated calls"). read more

I want to thank Wendoline for introducing my pets to Just Food for Dogs. My dogs love it! I have two senior dogs that are very picky when it comes to food. But when I introduced this one to them, they left their bowls clean! One of my senior dogs had been struggling with stomach issues and finding the right food for him was hard. Been coming here for years. Staff is always nice and always friendly to my dog. We even took my pup to their puppy training here which She loved. The issues with this store are that the online order pickup method is horrible. You wait in line only to have to wait for a different person with the "scanner" to come get it for you. If it is crowded, it may take a LONG time. Another thing is that sometimes it takes a LONG time to get any help in aquatics. But they generally always have what I need in stock. Do yourself a favor and buy it online and do in-store pickup. Their in-store prices are incredibly high and online they more or less have the same prices as Amazon. PLUS if you do in-store pickup you save 10%. read more

The staff working there are not ready to help and filled with bad attitude. I asked to see a hamster for my daughter and the girl only opened the glass for one second, then closed it as fast as she could. My daughter didn't even get a chance to see. She interrogated me about our "readiness" of having a hamster, and within 30 seconds, she decided that I should not have one unless I purchase one of the overpriced cage with it. I was thinking getting a used cage later, but apparently she could not understand it. I should have get her name, but WHATEVER, I would definitely avoid this place forever. Went to EXCHANGE an item. Definitely was past the 30 days so I didn't expect the full value of the item. I was going to make a much bigger purchase. 1 associate had no idea how to work the register and then the "manager" came up with an attitude saying that there was no returns. I explain that I know and why I specifically asked for an exchange. Her answer was "I can't so you'll have to contact a GM". To which I KNOW if guest services were properly conducted she'd reach out herself to handle it right then and there, at store level. I work retail I know how it goes. But to deter refunds/ Exchanges this HUGE processed has to be done... We used to be huge shoppers at Petco. Stop doing grooming a while back because the groomer my boy loved left. We have 5 pets that constantly need stuff. But guest services have dramatically gone down so we won't be retuning. read more
