Had an 8am appointment, was there early and right at 8 only one employee showed up, said she can't let me in until a groomer arrives. Fine. 8:10 an employee arrives and lets me in, checks me in and proceeds to tell me my groomer called in for the day and there is no room in the schedule for her or other groomers to accommodate my 8:00 appointment. I scheduled a time a not a particular stylist. She asked me to reschedule, and I will just not this location. I'm required to give 48 hours notice for cancellation but it's ok for me to arrive on time and be told that there is no stylist to perform a service I scheduled them for. Anyways, 2 stars for a reason. Avoid this location. read more

Manager is a nut, says I cant return to store after I asked her to adjust price to what's on the shelf. Zero altercation, just a power trip for this nobody. Corporate hasn't returned my calls. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

I made the silly decision to look past the 2.5 star review. Got 3 loaches and 5 hatchet fish for my 60 gallon and all of the sudden all of my rich have ick. I called to let them know but I highly doubt they stopped selling fish from those tanks. Not to mention they were jam packed in these 20-30 gallons. No wonder why they had ick. read more

There is a ton of parking here because this plaza is very dead. This Petco looks small on the outside but is indeed very, very large inside. I came here saw no one at the registers but quickly bumped into someone as I walked further into the store. They immediately helped me to find the cat products I was looking for. I am really impressed with all of the different food options and litter box options here. They carry many interesting brands and products. I also thought they had an awesome collection of cat collars. They had a cute banana and kiwi collars! I was super tempted to buy these $9.99 collars but knew it was unnecessary since my cat doesn't wear a collar at home and we already own 2. I am not sure what you get when you enter your phone number in with their system. I was hoping it was discounts, but I have yet to receive any. They sell rodents and birds here. I think the bird pet trade is sad and major pet stores like these are contributing to that market. read more

This Petco has seriously gone downhill since Chris F. has left the aquatic department. I'm literally sitting in my vehicle outside in the parking lot, as I write this because of how disappointed and disgusted I am by this place now. I came in to this location for a couple of things, being that this is the closest location to me. I noticed some female guppies up for adoption in the Peacock Gudgeons (P.G-one of the species that I currently & have owned for several years now) and one of the fish in the group, was neither of the species tagged. When I asked Bryan (the now "aquatic specialist") he said the fish I was interested in was a Peacock Gudgeon. I showed him a picture of an actual Peacock Gudgeon and explained the difference. He stood firm on that's what the fish was and wanted to charge me $9.99. Seriously... this fool wanted to charge me $10 for a fish that wasn't even the correct species, nor did he have any idea of what species it was. Moving on... dead fish... lots of algae in & on the tanks... sick fish. This place is no place to shop for fish anymore. I saw lots of dead Otocinclus, a very sick German Ram, an injured/sick loach, more dead fish... it was horrible. I wish I would have taken some pictures of all the algae too, but there was just to much. I'm leaving this place in total disgust. Don't shop here, go to the Petco in Camillus next to Costco... You won't be disappointed! Even if I have to drive an hour there, that's where I'm taking my business. read more

This review is for Vetco Clinic and not necessarily Petco the store. My family used to use Vetco for about 7 years for shots because it was fairly simple and easy. You'd just walk straight to the back of the store, wait in the line there, and then check in and wait for the vet. Recently they must have changed things because we arrived about 15 minutes before it officially started, I walked to the back with my dog and started waiting in the line of about 6 customers. After a short while someone in line asked if I check in already, I told them no and was directed to return to the front of the store (this was a customer, not an employee - had it not been for this customer I would have waited in that line for 20 minutes to find out I actually have to start all over! No employees were at the back verifying we checked in). So now I understand that they have two Vetco stands inside the store, one at the front for check in, and the one in the back I'm not sure what it's for now (but it's no longer a check in station). Not a huge deal, but the front check in station wasn't obvious at all, off to the side and no signage showing what to do. So I started to wait behind the cones again at this station for the customer in front of me to wrap up, and after another little while an employee came up and asked if I was here for Vetco, which I said yes. She pointed out that the line started around at the front of the cashiers area, not at the cones, which again was not obvious at all. Ok, I get it, I need to move to the end of the line like everyone else, I'm not special, and I never intended to be, I'm just trying to find the end of the line. So again, I start walking all the way around the store checkout register lanes to the very front windows to exactly where the employee pointed to. After getting up there another employee now tries to stop me by saying "wait, wait, wait." (I'm literally just walking around to the front, don't picture me running or being evasive or anything, just walking slowly to the front.) She then goes on to tell me that "there are a lot of people in front of me and that I need to wait in the line." (She said it in a tone as if I was cutting in front of people, but I was just doing what the other employee told me to do and walking around to where she had pointed.) At this point I gave up, I told her that none of this is obvious and I just need to be told where to stand. There were people standing in line at the checkout, I think now that maybe they were in line for Vetco? It looked like they were all in line to buy something at the checkout (2 checkout lanes with people). Keeping in mind this is 15 minutes before Vetco officially opened, so I'm definitely not thinking everyone in line at the checkout is actually in line for Vetco (it's never been THAT busy in the past at opening time). Also keeping in mind that last time I was here for this we just walked to the back and waited in the line back there, which was never really more than a few people in the past. I had no way of knowing that everyone at the checkout was actually waiting for Vetco, it didn't even look like they all had pets with them. Anyway, I decided to just leave the store at that point. If the store is this unorganized with just having people wait in line I don't think I'd like to trust them with the organization of medicine and shots etc. I know that sounds a little harsh, but we're talking about my dogs well-being here, it's important (and honestly would be good customer service to be helpful on this most basic thing - I was obviously confused and stated that, help me). If this happened at an actual vet I would leave too. I can't be the only one that was confused by this mess either. There was no way of figuring out what to do here, especially those of us that haven't been here since they changed things. I don't totally understand the change either, it was simple to just walk back and wait, there is WAY more room for the line to develop and doesn't save any time to have 2 Vetco stands, it just congests and confused everything at the front. Not to mention that all dogs don't get along, close quarters up front is not the best strategy. I'll end by saying that I'd rather pay WAY more for my dog's shots at the actual vet than go through this mess again. This used to be simple and easy, now it is unorganized and frustrating. I definitely wont be coming back to Vetco. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very pleased that not only were his nails clipped but also filed down. Chose to have the deshedding done, after a couple days noticed a difference! Much better experience than at a competitor store, will return again! read more

The staff here is so great! My staffie sometimes barks at other dogs (he just wants to play) but, they are so understanding and really kind about it! We tried the 30 minute-free training seminar with Barb, and she was GREAT! She was kind patient and really seemed to care about the dogs she works with. The prices are okay but, the staff makes it so worth it to come here! The thing I love most about it is the treat bar, my staffie and lab mix love coming here and trying new treats, and it helps me as a pet owner because they have healthy and grain-free ones too! read more
