Was visiting family in the area and decided to treat pup to a quick in-between grooming nail & hair trim. We walked in (no appointment needed for several services), were assisted immediately and the entire visit was fantastic start to finish. We worked with Kylee in the grooming area and she made the extra effort to help ease my girl when we arrived, and the grooming was fast and trimmed to perfection. We have visited this Petco on prior visits and this is by far our favorite pet store - every staff member we have encountered has been warm and helpful. ALERT! I bought dog treats at Petco and the cashier said that my card didn't go through so I should put it in again. Well, I was charged twice for the same item. I sent emails to Petco without any response. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Petco said they were sending a refund which should be in my account in 8 to 10 business days. First thing they really have trouble keeping appointments but. Let me start with the fact that they gave me a bunch of trouble over vaccine documentation which they accepted 3 times before. Had to drive an hour to get additional documentation.So dogs appointment ended up starting over an hour late. 4.5 hours later we picked our dog jack up and he was lethargic and hardly recognized us.Very out of character for our dog Jack. All night he was pooping all over the house. Diarrhea.I believe they gave him a laxative as a gift for us. This review is based solely on the grooming department. I brought my large 1 year old puppy in today for a nail trim, a girl who doesn't allow anyone to touch her nails. Breanna was so sweet and patient with her I can't thank her enough. She took the time for my dog to relax a bit and feel a bit more comfortable with her before even attempted it. Although she was only able to cut her dew claws, it was a start. We will be back, thank you Breanna!! read more

Most of the grooming staff are horrendous. I have only found 1 that is great and I feel sorry for her having to work with the other Hacks. They cut my dogs nail way short and did nothing to stop the bleeding and we unapologetic. So bad was the experience that she will no longer go into the petco willingly. The one manager I dealt with was as useful as used toilet paper. Its unfortunate that this is the only local Petco so will be using a competitor from now on, will be filing a credit card charge back for the vital care service we signed our dogs up for. read more

Where do I begin with the port charlotte Fl petco store. I've given the grooming department three tries to cut my dogs hair so that he looks like a golden doodle that he is. I pay for teeth brushing and my dog comes back with unclean teeth. Ive had bad experiences with the groomers there. The manager Elizabeth who has let me down twice no matter how much I complain. I give detail instructions on how I DO NOT want my dog butchered, I want him to look like a golden doodle. They use this matted fur display board to determine how long you want your dogs hair. The matted fur board is very misleading and I told them not to use this board. It's seems to me that the Petco grooming department Can do only one type of cut, and that is CUT IT ALL OFF. I'm going to try a different Petco and hope for the best. The pics below will tell it all. Oh, let me say I paid an extra $15 for this grooming. Total cost was $112 to look like a $10 home cut. I go to groomers because I want him to look like a golden doodle he is. read more

We recently added two puppies to our household and went to Petco to purchase supplies. I've used them numerous times in the past and truly appreciated all the advice offered previously. Last week, we had the opportunity to speak with Paige, one of the trainers. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, kind and understanding. I cannot express my gratitude enough to Paige for taking so much time with us to review some basic principles of puppy training. In addition, the dogs were added to a home with a cat that suffers some emotional issues. She recommended the fermone diffuser as other clients had reported success with its' use. It worked like a charm on the first night I plugged it in!!! Thank you again, Paige. You are the BEST and PETCO should be incredibly grateful to have you as an employee! read more

I have had it with this Grooming Place. I've been going there for over a year and have arrived for my appointment for my dog only to be told that the groomer called in sick and would have to reschedule! Never called me or texted me to tell me not to come by. This has happened at least 3-4 times. Finally the groomer went out on disability and they gave me someone new. I was very pleased with the new groomer But I arrived at my scheduled appointment at 4pm only to be told that the groomer called out today! Once again they had all day to call me but didn't! Not the biggest Petco I have ever been in and they don't have the best variety, but I did find what I was looking for and the associates were friendly and helpful. I picked up three Christmas stockings filled with dog toys. While the theme is of no consequence to my dogs, the abundance of different, squeeking toys tickles their fancy every time. Very poor attitude today from the salon manager Elizabeth. I actually was very surprised she was the manager because of her attitude. I simply asked her why we make appointments when it doesn't seem to affect at all how long it takes. (Anywhere for 1.5 hours to today - which was 3 1/2 hours) She told me that all of the appointments are booked staggered, so still didn't really answer me except to say that she has a lot of other things to do, then started listing all her responsibilities. Obviously they take your pet, put them in a crate and wait until the last hour to actually do the grooming. But it was really her condescending attitude that sealed the deal for me. Treating people like they are stupid, admonishing them like they are children. I've been going to different Petco's for a while and was never treated in a "catty" and snippy way like this. She also informed me on the way out that basically if I don't like the way they do their appointments I should start paying extra for faster grooming, but it would have to be scheduled based on her schedule. This is the last time I'll ever go to Petco for anything. read more

Do not waste your money on the pet training. I should have known better than to register for obedience classes when the training area consists of a 10x10 space blocked off with cardboard. It's a recipe for failure. The young woman who "taught" the classes was a very nice person who probably got her training in the back of the store on a computer in a half an hour. Go pro. Love this petco! the staff is friendly and helpful. I took my 8 week old new pup to get his first supplies and food last week, and was walked to everything I needed by an employee.She took her time and explained the safest toys for a Maltese, and gave me the formula for changing him to a better quality food. Then the manager in the grooming department came out as I was heading for the checkout, and introduced herself to me and asked if she could pet my new family member. She said his nails were too long and she gave him a complimentary nail cutting. He will be going there for his groomings, as my pup and myself were treated like royalty. read more

Took our lab in a for a shave, bath, and nails. Historically, everyone comments on how well behaved she is during the process. When I picked her up and got outside I noticed she was acting very strange unlike anything I had seen in 8 years. She didn't want to get in the car and seemed really disoriented. Got her home and she was still acting strange. Examined her and looked like she had been nicked in her female parts. Not one word from the stylist. As it was too late to see the vet, we waited until the next day and she seemed to return to normal. Accidents happen, but to not say anything, is inexcusable. Again, I had never seen her act like she did in the 8 years we have had her. Second time we had been to Petco and I guarantee we will never be back. read more
