Petco is a good pet store for supplies and acquiring new family members, be it a dog, cat, fish or other animals. The parking is easy here, it has a nice sized lot it shares with other businesses. They ran a "$1 per gallon" fish aquarium tank sale, but it was just the empty glass tank, and didn't come with any covering. For a 10 gallon tank, yes that would be $10 for the tank along, but you need to add more to it... so a basic glass top would cost about $17 extra to add and a more elaborate light hood cover would cost $34 extra to add. So, they actually have some "kits" that come with more supplies. The deal is pretty much only good if you already have the other stuff and were replacing a tank, just the tank itself or didn't need a top. Overall, it's a reliable "A-OK" rating, similar to Petsmart, Petco is a retail chain. read more

Horrible. Just a horrible store and company. I worked there for 4 months and had enough of the snotty favorite picking manager and her brat employees. This company doesn't care about pets or their customers. Freezers always full of dead animals which the employees think is funny. Manager and other employees would insult customers behind their backs. managers always late opening the store. employees have to manage a cash register and get everything else done at the same time. What is so funny about dead animals that have suffered at the hands of petco. They care about money..not pets. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I took my kitten to the Crenshaw Location with the appointment for the 3rd dose of vaccine and the assistant G was really rude and cold to my cat. my cat was irritated by the aggressive attempts of wrapping her up with the blanket because they put her down to the table too harsh and rough. no one in the team tried to comfort the cat. The Vet was just standing there and the lady refused the service and asked me to take the cat to the full service cross street. I was so upset with their way they treated my cat and told her assertively that I wouldn't go anywhere else but here to get the vaccine done because my cat got the first 2 doses here without any problems. i Even offer the hell to calm my cat down but she rudely refused. Long story short. My cat got the shot with my attendance with the vet. I was so disappointed in this place. I hope the store can pull out the video to review the way they did there job. read more

Horrible experience bringing my golden doodle puppy to the groomers at Petco. The groomer was ill trained and claimed that my puppy had aggressive behavior and didn't complete the cut demanding I still pay full price. My dog came out half cut, shaking, terrified from the experience. Spoke to management to get this cleared up and was also met with rude behavior. Will never be returning and would encourage no one else to come here either. read more

Wow, what an awful customer service experience. I ordered two items online for same day pick-up. Hours later I receive a notification that my order is partially cancelled. First, the store is always empty...why did it take hours to pull one item off the shelf. And second, staff were incredibly inappropriate and immature with how they handled the situation. I came in to get my puppy groomed today. When I picked him up he was crying pretty terribly but I expected that since he has separation anxiety. I carried him around the store while I attempted to pick up the few extra things I needed. The associate Lisa helped me by carrying the items I needed while I tried calming down the puppy. She was also able to teach me how to use the no pull harness and made sure it was the correct size for him since yesterday he escaped the original harness I bought at a different store. I was so overwhelmed when I picked him up trying to calm him down and she went above and beyond to help me so both the puppy and I were calm by the time we left the store. First time going to Petco because the previous groomers sucked giving my dogs a good cut and this Lady by the name of Corey she was and is amazing!!! She helped me making calls to verify my dogs rabies shots when i had the paperwork in my car without realizing it afterwards. She did an amazing job .. i will definitely be going back!!! They gave me very hard time when I took my dogs for vaccine! The Clinic staff was not helpful and they let me wait for 2 hours to get into the doctor to get the vaccine and the girl was so hard to my puppy's and hurt them! I will never go back to that petco. read more

Called to see about bringing my pup in. His hair is too long by his eyes so I just wanted to trim it up. I spoke to the grooming department and they said they are open until 8pm which works perfect with my schedule expect the person that actually trims the dogs hair leaves at 4:30pm. So the grooming department doesn't actually groom for the last 3 1/2 hours??? I'll definitely be going somewhere else. read more

My roommate took my dog to get groomed here today. I had been trying to make an appointment for the last two weeks and only got automated information. My roommate took him in to see if they had time to see him today. They looked up my phone #, my PALS #, my email, and nothing. I had been taking him there for years and buying his doggy stuff there too. A rude lady got on the phone and said she was the manager. Long story short, she said she couldn't help me because she couldn't find my number. She was speaking to me on my roommates cell phone. She got into it with my roommate who had asked if, "instead of telling us what you can't do, can you figure it out so he can get groomed today?". The lady ignored her and when my roommate asked for her phone back and said she would take him somewhere else, the lady swiped her phone away and called her a bitch! She's the manager??? Wow! I will not go back there ever again! There are too many dog groomers in the area that want business and will treat my dog and I well. No one needs that kind of disgusting treatment. No one. Highly recommend you avoid this place if you want good service. Interesting that Diane from Petco said she hopes to see me again but made no effort to even lie and say she would fire the employee/manager for calling a customer an expletive. I've worked in retail quite a bit and the golden rule is always "the customer is always right". Until Petco does right by me and my family, I will not be returning. read more

I'm not sure about this particular Petco location. My friend had told me that they don't take very good care of their animals. I came here to pick up a hamster potty for Chester, my new hamster and the lady at the register said they didn't honor the discounted online prices when I showed her the print out I brought. I told her that the other Petco in Torrance does and all we have to do is bring in a copy from online. She said that in all her 4 years, she's never heard of anyone there honoring the price and suggested it may be a decision made store to store. Instead of pausing and asking if I still want to purchase the item, she went ahead and rang it up without even taking time to ask what I wanted to do. I didn't like her attitude and if I am forced to shop here again, I hope not to get this militant-looking 40ish dyed blonde lady again! This is a big store with everything you'd need for your pet. I went in for my monthly dose of flea medication and had an easy time finding it. Three stars because of : a) the lady with her hard-sell approach to selling me cat food that I didn't want. Questioning me about what I feed my cat and how the food that she represents is the BEST. Then to find out she doesn't even work there and can't tell me where the flea medicine is! 2) the teenagers that work the register that think its OKAY to talk on their cell phone while checking me out. She not only DID NOT finish my two cats and their shaving (she claimed they were difficult), but she charged me for the full service! She also told me not to bring them back again. Went here last week to purchase a chew bone for my pooch. Picked one out that was all natural made in USA for $10. Went to the checkout station to find no one around. Waited for several minutes, still no one except two other customers looking as perplexed as me. Finally (10 or so minutes) a person shows up and took my money. Got home and gave the bone to my pup. It lasted a whole 15 minutes and gone! I was hoping it would last at least a day but it didn't and I won't be buying another from Petco or elsewhere. read more

This review is directed at Petco Management and not the staff: I'm writing this because of my profound disappointment in being treated like a number. We've been shopping at this Petco store for 17 years (fish + Manchester Terrier). In returning 2 cans of dog food (rumored to have had some quality issues in the latest batch) without our receipt,  I was told no problem but Petco would need to scan my drivers license and number and that there are no other options. I told them to keep the 2 cans I brought in and I walked away leaving  $110 worth of dog food and treats on the counter I was about to purchase. For what it's worth, I try my best to support local businesses, especially the ones I can walk to, but this Petco return policy, as my daughter pointed out, reminds us Petco is a national corporation and not a small local business.  Now I'll order my dog's food and treats on Amazon Prime with built-in purchase history and  next day doorstep delivery like everyone else. I will however finish by mentioning that your staff has consistently been very helpful and knowledgeable and we pet owners always appreciate and value good people! My relationship with Petco began many years ago when I volunteered to help the group of women who run the cat adoption day. I wasn't looking to adopt, but I couldn't resist when I met a 5 year old Maine Coon female, whose owner had died and she was left orphaned. Samantha was so sweet and beautiful that I fell in love that day. Petco employees were very friendly and helpful over the years and I even found a sitter there when I would go out of town. Stopped in for a pheromone stake for my dog who likes to pee all over our flowers.They don't carry it. A lot of the shelves seemed empty or they only had one of each item. This isn't the first time we've visited, only to find that they don't have the item we need, whether they don't carry it or simply don't have it in stock. I'd like to give a shout out to Corey young who works in the grooming Department at the Petco on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach. She takes her time with your pet she talks to them the whole time she is doing their hair she's like a little beautician. You could not ask for a better groomer she's patient and she loves all animals no. There was one time I left my Seresto collar down there and if we know well they cost sixty seventy bucks she put it in the drawer for me so I would not lose it and called me and told me that it was still there she's a good groomer I would recommend giving them a shot read more

Went in to buy a case of cat food for my 2 cats. On the shelf was 8 cans. I asked the girl to see if she has a case in the back. She looked but nothing there. I said I can't believe how poorly stocked the particular food I wanted to buy and she said most people buy 1-2 cans at a time? WTF??? Are you kidding???? Like I want to go in there every day to buy 2 cans and then they will be out. Also the selection for carpeted cat trees/scratching posts is terrible. I brought my dog here for GROOMING. I had previously gone to two other locations for grooming and since I was going to be at friends house I decided to come here. Please do not take your dog here for grooming. All locations are not created equal. They brought my dog out and I went the register to pay for treats, apparently my dog saw me and my husband said the groomer looked pissed and yanked him back inside. When I finally picked him up they said my dog was difficult and they couldn't cut his nails which is why I had taken him to get groomed in the first place. TERRIBLE SERVICE! We moved to the South Bay from the Bay Area and was thrilled to find a local Petco to take our dogs to for grooming. Corey has been amazing with our pups, and was very attentive to our senior dog that had several health issues. Corey is awesome at handling our rambunctious "puppy" and has gone out of her way to make sure the dogs are happy, clean, loved and well taken cared of (she even offered to dog sit for us when we first moved here as we didn't have a regular vet/kennel yet)! In comparison to all the other Petcos I've been to, this one is just average. Not a great selection of fish or any other animals for that matter. If you're just looking to get dog/cat food, its not bad, but other than that, I wasn't particularly impressed. After going to the other location for pet mice-which died after four weeks, and then going back to that same location and having the second mouse die after three weeks, we came to this location. Yes, I'm all for supporting small businesses, however, none of the local businesses carried pet mice....... We were helped by Anthony who gave us some probable reasons on why our other mice may have died. He then gave us way more info on the care of our new mouse. He was so very helpful- much more helpful than anyone at any PetCo has ever been. (we've been frequent visitors to this store- we used to buy our crickets here) If I ever return to this PetCo, I'll be sure to ask for Anthony. Otherwise, I'll walk out. Yeah. I came here to get a betta fish to take care of. I have taken care of, have owned, and love animals my whole life. I have had 3 betta fish, each of them living past 4 years. A couple nights ago, the female worker and male worker(he was very kind and informative) refused to let me purchase to take care of a betta fish. I left and came back the next day hoping to purchase a betta fish again and the other guy who I assume is the manager offered to check us out. He asked if I had an ID in order to purchase the betta(I've bought fish from pet smart and the petco in lawndale before and have NEVER been ID'd or questioned about anything). Even the same female worker from the night before said she didn't know that. Mind you, I'm 22 and "had" to show him my ID. He was acting hostile and very rude towards me and my boyfriend the entire time and was not treating me with respect. I was spoken to like a child and with such disrespect. Personally I felt attacked. Idk if it was my race, or how I looked, but being rude without reason is no way to treat a customer who literally hasn't caused any harm physically or verbally(and I work retail so I know how to treat customers). This was my second time coming here and wasted my time and energy. I do NOT recommend shopping here. Or at any PETCO for that matter. I have never had any type of rude horrible experience such as this, when shopping at PETSMART. I am definitely never coming back to petco, especially this one on PCH. I had not been to this store in Redondo Beach for a very long time but on 2/13/20 I needed an indoor doggy grass potty. I looked around and asked where the grassy potty pads for small dogs are.
