PETCO at Ingram has created a horrible situation. I took my dog in for wellness check Jan 17, 2026 and at the time got a prescription for Simparica Trio but told the vet at the appt I wouldn't need the prescription for a few months. I called recently to see if I could change it to NexGard but was told I would need another appt at $81.00. I balked at the price and the receptionist was very rude, so I ordered the Simparica Trio online. Out of vindictiveness THEY CANCELED THE PRESCRIPTION! The prescription says its good 1/17/26-1/17/27. The meanness of punishing me for not wanting to pay again is horrible. I liked the vet, it's just too bad PETCO & its employees come across as just another greedy corporation. read more

I would rate this location no stars if I could. This is specifically for the grooming department. (Amanda) I have been brining my pets to this location for over 5 years now. Never really get friendly service but it's fine, people just have bad days. This for the appointment management system this is the second time Petco grooming has messed up my dogs appointment and the way they handle it, is they don't. My dog was scheduled at 2:30, someone calls me and says if we can go in at 2pm, we show up at 2, and they inform us, we are early!? Like what?. That was the second time it has happened. The first time was an early morning appointment where No one was present at the store to open the door, "someone was running late". "Amanda and Ken" refused to service my dog because they were "booked" for the remainder of the day. However there was a 4pm opening online and I scheduled it. This place is chronically understaffed. You have to explore the store to find help if you need it. Additionally, I have had employees tell me contradicting information. It's annoying when it comes to exchanges and receipts to be told different things on differing visits. I bought a snail for my tank and it didn't even survive 24 hours. I took it back for an exchange and was told the 30 day policy doesn't apply to crustaceans. So, they're losing a loyal customer over a $2.99 snail. I'm writing this as I stand in the Petco line. There is only one cashier available while there's a line of 10 plus people. I see an employee walking around doing nothing. Actually more than one employee, there's at least 4. That employee comes over and doesn't offer to help just chatting with the cashier and lollygagging. When I got up there she didn't greet me or say thank you. I heard her saying to her coworker that she doesn't care at this time of day because shes almost done. Also while I'm standing in line, I'm watching the dog groomer stress a poor little white dog out. Laughing at the dog shaking and continuing to agitate her. The one with the septum piercing. I visited Petco last night to purchase a few last minute things for our new puppy and had a great experience. We were able to find everything we needed pretty easy and they had a good selection of products. One of the doggie collars that we bought didn't have a tag, which I thought was going to be a problem at check out but the girl who helped us was so nice and made everything very easy and smooth. When we were at check out we weren't sure if we had a rewards program with Petco and I thought she was going to be like in other stores and say "you can sign up later". Instead, the girl was very patient with us and walked us through every step on how to sign up and how to check if we had an account. The only reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is because we were looking at some doggie beds and a few of them were dirty or had dog hair on them. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Before I dive into the negatives, let me tell you that Michael, the store manager, and Jordan in Dog Grooming should be rewarded for their professionalism. I tipped Jordan $20 for his Dog grooming services and his professionalism. Hopefully, Petco will read this and incentivize him by more than just monetary means. Kim G and the young blonde woman (I didn't catch her name) at the Dog grooming service section treated me horribly. At worst, I was racially profiled by the two of them. At best, I was treated unprofessionally by the two of them. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Kim G. refused to have my pet service by anyone in grooming, subsequent to our disagreement. If it wasn't for the store manager, my previous two weeks scheduled appointment would have been canceled. Attitude and behavior of this type should not be permissible by any trained staff. At minimum sensitivity training should be ordered for both employees. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I 150% would!! We took our Great Pyrenees to a "specialist" groomer that apparently deals with their breed and their special coats a lot. When we got him back he was super traumatized and his hair was choppy and was shedding like mad. I was nervous to try a new place, but we decided to give this petco a shot and I am SO SO thankful we did! They were absolutely amazing with our big boy!!! Denise groomed him, while I'm sure others probably had to help a bit, and they were so gentle with him. He smells and looks amazing and came back so happy when we went to pick him up a few hours later! I can't recommend this petco grooming salon enough or Denise, she was very knowledgeable on the breed and really took care of our big baby. Thank you so much everything!! We are so happy. I've been bringing my dog to Petco for years for the mini rover make over because she has a broken leg that hasn't healed correctly and I'm scared to death of trimming her nails. They always took good care of her, until I brought her in today and asked me if she has any medical problems. They've never asked my this before and stupid me I was being honest and told them she has a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. Because I told them that they told me they can't take her. I talked to the manager and she was of no use. I told her that I've been bringing her here for years and she's always handled the services well but that idiot manager refused to help me. I told the manager that the staff has never asked me these questions before and her response was that they're supposed to. All of a sudden now they're making up their own rules. Now I have to take her to her vet that charges quite a bit just to get her nails trimmed. Screw Petco. I filed a complaint against them. !!DO NOT LET KIM GROOM YOUR DOG!! Kim mislabels dogs as aggressive and difficult. Kim did this to my dog recently. My dog has never acted aggressive towards anyone. Kim never made me aware of any concerns with having my dog groomed. It wasn't until I booked an appointment recently that I was made aware that Kim had an issue with my dog. When I confronted Kim about this she told me she doesn't know why she mislabeled my dog. She does not recall anything that happened with my dog. Therefore, Kim has mislabeled my dog as aggressive based only on breed. There was no incident with my dog. Kim told me for the "safety" of her staff, only she could groom my dog. As far as I'm concerned, no one would be unsafe around my dog. If that were true, I would not be taking my dog out in public and would not be leaving my dog with strangers to be groomed. I've asked repeatedly to speak with a district manager, regional manager or anyone who can provide an explanation, and have been denied. Do yourself and your pet a favor and go to another location or another store to have your pet groomed. Not once did Kim apologize for her unprofessional behavior. I have found another groomer who is more than happy to provide grooming services to my pet. Kim, if you are too scared to groom certain dog breeds for no reason, then maybe you need to find another profession instead of spreading lies about people's pets. read more

SAFETY CONCERNS AT PETCO 3143 SE Military, San Antonio I will begin by stating, I have taken my two small dogs to Petco on SE Military, San Antonio, Texas for approximately 1 year. Both have been diagnosed with Tracheal Collapse and in the event the choke leash is pulled to tight this may occur. The groomers have always acknowledged my concerns and did everything they could to have me feel comfortable and trusting while leaving my dogs in their care (using the leash I provided or carrying my 8lb dog.Today, while speaking with the Groomer Supervisor (as she identified herself) she was not empathetic regarding the situation and informed me my dogs must remain on their leash (choke leash). While attempting to inform her of my previous-positive experience, she was passive aggressive and stated, "...I will talk to MY groomers. They shouldn't be doing that". At this point while conversing, I didnt understand what she was implying. Groomer shouldn't be acknowledging of health concerns? Requests? I did inform her in a polite manner, "I will no longer bring my dogs here and will inform family and friends to not bring their animals here". She replied by stating, "Sounds great". I will suggest to remain cautious when leaving your animals at this groomer. Given the "Groomer Supervisor" attitude and lack of empathy, I would not trust leaving any animal here due to safety concerns. read more

We signed up for the puppy training class after we had attended an hour of Puppy Play Time. Our trainer was Ms. Jane. She is very sweet and attentive to the puppies in the class. After the first day of play time, she would always recognize our puppy during Petco visits and stop by to say hello. They always have anything and everything we need. I like to stop by sometimes to find a nice treat for the pup. They have an awesome little treat bar for dogs right at the front. Will continue to stop by here often. read more

Today's experience at Petco was hands down the worst customer service I've experience since moving to San Antonio. The couple in front of us in line forgot something and left mid-purchase to go get it. The cashier did not acknowledge us to ask to wait or void the transaction. After a few minutes of us standing there, she took a phone call, still without so much as a glance in our direction. After she got off the phone, we tried to get her attention. At this point another "associate" walked up to her and they started talking! We still attempted to get her attention to no avail. Just as we were about to put our purchases away, the lady who was in front of us returned to finish her purchase. The lady, who was a customer, apologized we had to wait so long. She said she had no idea the cashier wouldn't cancel their order and if she's known she wouldn't have taken her time. We responded that we knew it wasn't her fault and there was no need to apologize. All this was said in front of the cashier!! AND THE CASHIER STILL DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE US!! Once we got to the register we were rung up as if nothing had happened. The groomer said our dog "almost bit him 3 times." Our dog has never been aggressive and never had a problem getting groomed. He then said he could only did "90% of the work because he was almost bit." First off I dont believe him because my dog isnt aggressive and second off why did I pay full price for only 90% of the work? We did a de-shed treatment and it was horrible. I have a German Shepherd that I have been taking to this Petco for the past 2 years. This is the first dog I've ever taken to a Groomer, but her coat sometimes needs more maintenance than I can do myself. I've been pleasantly surprised at the wonderful service! My pup loves to go get her coat brushed out and her nails cut, and I love the way she is treated! I also have been taking my pup to Training Classes here since I got her. She is a smart pup and learned very quickly! Now that she is a bit older, I'm taking her to reinforcement classes and to learn a few more tricks! read more

She noticed I was having trouble, shared insight on what the real trouble was with my dog food and then made any excellent recommendation for a no hassle replacement!! I'm not a Karen but the lady was so mean we asked for a haircut AND a bath and the lady was so a bath I told her about the haircut and she said they can't cut my dog's hair when petco already cut it TWICE. We asked for the manager and said she was the manager but I don't think she even was the manager because she looked around and then just said that she was the manager. And also the previous time my dog came out so scared for her life she's never been like that EVER.
