I took my dog in for wellness check Jan 17, 2026 and at the time got a prescription for Simparica Trio but told the vet at the appt I wouldn't need the prescription for a few months. I called recently to see if I could change it to NexGard but was told I would need another appt at $81.00. I balked at the price and the receptionist was very rude, so I ordered the Simparica Trio online. Out of vindictiveness THEY CANCELED THE PRESCRIPTION! The prescription says its good 1/17/26-1/17/27. My dog was scheduled at 2:30, someone calls me and says if we can go in at 2pm, we show up at 2, and they inform us, we are early!? Like what?. That was the second time it has happened. I visited Petco last night to purchase a few last minute things for our new puppy and had a great experience. We were able to find everything we needed pretty easy and they had a good selection of products. One of the doggie collars that we bought didn't have a tag, which I thought was going to be a problem at check out but the girl who helped us was so nice and made everything very easy and smooth. When we were at check out we weren't sure if we had a rewards program with Petco and I thought she was going to be like in other stores and say "you can sign up later". Instead, the girl was very patient with us and walked us through every step on how to sign up and how to check if we had an account. Kim G and the young blonde woman (I didn't catch her name) at the Dog grooming service section treated me horribly. At worst, I was racially profiled by the two of them. At best, I was treated unprofessionally by the two of them. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Kim G. refused to have my pet service by anyone in grooming, subsequent to our disagreement. If it wasn't for the store manager, my previous two weeks scheduled appointment would have been canceled. Attitude and behavior of this type should not be permissible by any trained staff. If I could give more than 5 stars I 150% would!! We took our Great Pyrenees to a "specialist" groomer that apparently deals with their breed and their special coats a lot. When we got him back he was super traumatized and his hair was choppy and was shedding like mad. I was nervous to try a new place, but we decided to give this petco a shot and I am SO SO thankful we did! They were absolutely amazing with our big boy!!! Denise groomed him, while I'm sure others probably had to help a bit, and they were so gentle with him. He smells and looks amazing and came back so happy when we went to pick him up a few hours later! I've been bringing my dog to Petco for years for the mini rover make over because she has a broken leg that hasn't healed correctly and I'm scared to death of trimming her nails. They always took good care of her, until I brought her in today and asked me if she has any medical problems. They've never asked my this before and stupid me I was being honest and told them she has a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. Because I told them that they told me they can't take her. I talked to the manager and she was of no use. I told her that I've been bringing her here for years and she's always handled the services well but that idiot manager refused to help me. !!DO NOT LET KIM GROOM YOUR DOG!! Kim mislabels dogs as aggressive and difficult. Kim did this to my dog recently. My dog has never acted aggressive towards anyone. Kim never made me aware of any concerns with having my dog groomed. It wasn't until I booked an appointment recently that I was made aware that Kim had an issue with my dog. When I confronted Kim about this she told me she doesn't know why she mislabeled my dog. She does not recall anything that happened with my dog. Therefore, Kim has mislabeled my dog as aggressive based only on breed. There was no incident with my dog. Kim told me for the "safety" of her staff, only she could groom my dog. As far as I'm concerned, no one would be unsafe around my dog. If that were true, I would not be taking my dog out in public and would not be leaving my dog with strangers to be groomed. I've asked repeatedly to speak with a district manager, regional manager or anyone who can provide an explanation, and have been denied. Do yourself and your pet a favor and go to another location or another store to have your pet groomed. Not once did Kim apologize for her unprofessional behavior. I have found another groomer who is more than happy to provide grooming services to my pet. Both have been diagnosed with Tracheal Collapse and in the event the choke leash is pulled to tight this may occur. The groomers have always acknowledged my concerns and did everything they could to have me feel comfortable and trusting while leaving my dogs in their care (using the leash I provided or carrying my 8lb dog.Today, while speaking with the Groomer Supervisor (as she identified herself) she was not empathetic regarding the situation and informed me my dogs must remain on their leash (choke leash). While attempting to inform her of my previous-positive experience, she was passive aggressive and stated, "...I will talk to MY groomers. They shouldn't be doing that". At this point while conversing, I didnt understand what she was implying. Groomer shouldn't be acknowledging of health concerns? Requests? I did inform her in a polite manner, "I will no longer bring my dogs here and will inform family and friends to not bring their animals here". She replied by stating, "Sounds great". I will suggest to remain cautious when leaving your animals at this groomer. We signed up for the puppy training class after we had attended an hour of Puppy Play Time. Our trainer was Ms. Jane. She is very sweet and attentive to the puppies in the class. After the first day of play time, she would always recognize our puppy during Petco visits and stop by to say hello. They always have anything and everything we need. This is the first dog I've ever taken to a Groomer, but her coat sometimes needs more maintenance than I can do myself. I've been pleasantly surprised at the wonderful service! My pup loves to go get her coat brushed out and her nails cut, and I love the way she is treated! I also have been taking my pup to Training Classes here since I got her.
