    April, @ PETCO, after grooming

I absolutely trust the groomers with my dog. She also comes back to us looking great-evidence by her picture with her stylist/groomer. Have never had a problem making an appointment! Prices are very competitive. Their quick fix- drop in- grooming service (e.g.: nails) is great.

Sonnis tank with some of the fixings we got today with the insight of employee Sam. More stuff to be added soon!

I've only been going to this Petco for the past 10 months as it's near my boyfriends house and convenient to stop by when I'm over his house. That being said, anytime I have stopped by during these past months, the employees have been nothing but helpful to us. The place itself is always clean and organized. The employees are always so nice and answer any questions no matter what they're doing. Today in particular, my boyfriend and I impulse bought a Sunfire Djungarian Hamster. We were there for a while and did some research in the store on if this was an actual possibility for us or not and employee Sam was in that section cleaning another animals habitat. She did not hesitate to answer all of our questions, never seemed annoyed that she had to stop and go over stuff with us and she simply gave great advice. She seemed very knowledgeable (her info has been backed up by further research I did when I got home). Sam made this experience very nice and she was just very easy to talk to, made us feel comfortable with the whole process. I couldn't recommend her or this Petco location enough. Just an all around good place and awesome employees!!

I'm on the west coast, so I didn't think we could actually work together, but find her quite accessible since she does virtual sessions and is also active on her Patreon. I have a lot of experience with dog rescue, and I often adopt dogs with special needs. I have a dog that has obviously experienced some trauma around other dogs, and Erika has been incredibly helpful. She is generous with her knowledge and her time, she has lots of training tools like handouts and videos, and she is a delightful person in general. Great sense of humor, and it feels warm and fuzzy to work with her, which is so nice because often when we have problematic dogs, we don't feel good about it and we blame ourselves. Not only does she use positive reinforcement in her training for dogs, but also for people, because often it is us that needs to be trained. My dog is doing so much better since I started working with her. I highly recommend. I'm excited to work with her more in the future.

We did the puppy basic but Erika adjusted to our speed (Koda is fricking smart and picks things up so fast). I have never seen anyone respond to emails faster in my life! And Erika is always on Instagram like me so I can get tips and tricks even when we aren't in session! Koda is now 4 months old.. he responds to sit, stay (with distractions and long periods of time), down, touch, paw, other paw lol, crate, "home" (his play pen), leave it, drop... and he is amazing on a leash now. He goes potty almost on command. I got him potty trained in 4 days (aside from the occasional accident when he is excited to see people) Anyway.. I love Erika and wish I wasn't moving to St. Louis. I dropped her off, when they called, I went to pick her up. As soon as I stepped foot through the door to the grooming area, an older woman shouts at me "she's going to have to be an express from now on!" I'm assuming this was Alexis, because that's who was supposed to be grooming my dog that day? But I don't actually know if that was Alexis or not. I was taken aback by her shouting at me, and that being the first thing said to me. The other girl in there, Bri, intervened and spoke kindly and said "she just had some trouble in the crate, she was very excited." And that was the whole exchange. Nothing else was said to me. I assumed express meant I just had to stay there while she was being groomed, so as soon as she was done, I could take her, and she wouldn't have to be in the crate at all. Now, my dog is crate trained, she sleeps in a crate every night. So I thought that was odd, but I have no problem doing whatever to make it easier on my dog and the groomers. Regardless, this issue rubbed me the wrong way and I have not brought her to be groomed since, until today. I brought her to the turnersville location because I didn't want to bring her back to Sicklerville. When I walked in to check her in, the groomer told me there was a note in her file that said "recommend express" with no other notes and asked if I knew why the recommended that. So I told her what happened. She seemed confused and almost wary to work with my dog because of that note, and there being no other context. She also explained express meant that the grooming service would take almost double the time, because she would only be working with my dog during that time (I never realized they switch around dogs during a service to give the dogs breaks) and would be extra time to be extra cautious through every step. Of course the express service is also an upcharge. I'm not upset with the girl from turnersville, but I am upset that none of this was explained by the people at the Sicklerville location. They never told me what express even meant, they never told me it would be going in her file, they never offered context as to why it was included in her file, all I was told was that she was too excited in the crate. I'm very upset by this experience, and hate that the groomer at the turnersville location was uncomfortable grooming my dog because of a note with no context (but I don't blame her). My dog is a pitbull, so of course she already is stereotyped. And yes, she can be hyper when she's excited and she's always excited to go to the groomer. But she is friendly as can be and a giant cuddle bug. Everyone at her vets office loves her to death and understands some dogs just get excited. And just a quick side note, the amount of people who work with dogs but do not know that red nosed pits get very red when they're excited is truly astounding. With all that being said, the woman at the turnersville location was wonderful! She was very patient with my dog. And after the service, she walked me through each step. She also said she doesn't think my dog needs to be expressed, but stated she does get excited seeing other dogs and recommended calming treats before she comes.

It has taken me a while to be able to write this. Over the Summer, I had the amazing folks from Paws First watching my dogs while I was away for the weekend out of state. My senior dog's health had been in decline for a while, but it didn't seem to be cause for too much concern- just typical old dog stuff. One night, her health took a very sudden and dramatic turn. It was clear that if she were brought in to the the vet that she would not be returning. I didn't want my old girl's last moments to be spent someplace unfamiliar. The staff at Paws First went above and beyond to provide extra care and comfort to her when she needed it most so I could race home to be with her. I am forever grateful for all they did for her.

When I received the call from Dr Hosier after surgery she said they removed the tumor but found another. They aspirated that tumor and found that it was a mast cell tumor. She never told me that meant it was cancer. When I picked him up and received written instructions I was told that he got a shot of benedryl because aspirating the tumor could cause it to granulate releasing histamines. That was all I was told nothing was explained. When I called because my dog was not walking still the next day and could not stand they blamed me for giving him gabentin which I was instructed to do in writing. I told them my dog had diarrhea was vomiting and would not eat. They suggested stopping the novox and offering chicken and rice diet. I did that then had to rush him to the hospital on Sunday because his face was swollen. Red Bank animal hospital explained that he had cancer, that his symptoms were from degranulation. They had to give him another benedryl shot and put him on benedryl meds. They told me to follow up with my vet immediately I called Monday they said I could wait until his appt Sat to get his stitches out. Went for the appointment it was obvious Dr Hosier never read the report. She prescribed him a bunch of new meds including steroids to try and get him to eat. She said she would check in, in two days. She never checked in and also forgot to removed two stitches from his chest. I called to speak with the owner Dr Masso on three occasions. They would tell me she would call back. She never did. Once the receptionist even told me the matter was closed in their system. I am so disappointed. I was calm and polite with every call. I said I didn't want Dr Hosier in trouble but I think the owner should know when so many mistakes are made. I have an appointment with a specialty surgeon soon but I'm sad that I now have to find a new vet because either Dr Masso could not spare five minutes of her time or the office, Jen, Tori and Dr Hosier, are hiding what happened. At the very least you could have told me it was cancer and know the signs of degranulation.

We spent time holding them, playing with them, rubbing their bellies, and bonding with them. They were so comfortable with us -- they were licking our fingers, letting us rub their stomachs, and even falling asleep in our arms. The employee Gina even said while we were with them, "I never seen these kittens so calm with anybody." That meant a lot because it showed how comfortable they were with us. We also made it clear that we had experience with cats and have had cats before. The same day we saw them was the day the kittens came into PetSmart. We submitted our application the very next day and waited. We were told we would receive a phone call either way, whether we were approved or denied, but two weeks went by and we never received any call at all. When we went back into PetSmart, we found out the kittens were no longer there because they had been adopted on June 23. We were very upset to find out we were never contacted, especially after building that bond with them and expecting the chance to bring them home. What hurt the most was finding out they were adopted by someone else who was able to adopt three cats, while we were never even given an update about our application for these two kittens. I am very disappointed with how this situation was handled. I understand animals need good homes, but communication matters. We were really hoping to take these kittens home, and it was heartbreaking finding out they were gone without ever getting a call.
