Not too impressed. Been to other PETCO groomers but this one I will not return to. Dropped off my 2 dogs for their session and added the flea shampoo. Left to run errands and was called within the hour for pick up. That was fast. She didn't express anal glands because "they didn't need it". That's a first, but I let it go. I don't think flea shampoo, or any shampoo, was used. Both dogs started itching when I got home and they just didn't smell or seem clean. The whole vibe was weird. What happened? This store looks like a literal dump. There is product ALL OVER, like it exploded. There are rolling racks all over the store, full of supplies that are blocking several of the aisles. There are random buckets of aquarium rocks in the middle of the aisles. Water has dripped all over the floors, creating puddles. Has a hoarder taken over the store? It's filthy. One of the smaller Petco stores, it still has everything I need. Since I use SoPhresh kitty litter, whenever I finish a jug I put it in my car so I can refill when I pass a Petco. The Tigard location is the perfect stop if I'm making a Costco run. The litter refill station is just to the left of the door and it's always full and has funnels and scoops available. A refill is $5.99 for 16 pounds, a great deal, and it's the best kitty litter. Hardly any tracking and zero smell. A 16 pound jug lasts 3 weeks with 2 cats. Staff was friendly and patient as I stumbled with the app to move my rewards to the "loaded" status so I could use the $5 credit. Unlike every other loyalty card, with Petco you have to move the reward to your card, which they call loaded, in order for it to reflect when you enter your phone number. It's way too complicated; it should automatically deduct the reward. There is no sense in saving them as they expire! This is the fault of headquarters, not the individual store. In this case, the staff member was very patient as I went through all of the steps. There is plenty of parking out front and close to I-5 and 217 For easy access. read more

Get a new store manager. Member since 2019, Rewards member since 2022... Just found out I haven't gotten one benefit promised to me the day I gave them my private information. I wanted an $81 bag of dog food and didn't get a 10% discount on the shelf tag. The nice young lady said it didn't apply. I asked more about the terms and she got her manager. The store manager, Olivia, asked if I was a Vital Rewards Premium member and if I had the app. The app was offloaded on my phone, and tapped to download. I wasn't signed in, and didn't get signed in before she walked back with me to the shelf to say this discount is for "premium" customers. Olivia said the program expired 2 years ago, and they're terminating the program "for some customers," while others may still get benefits. Huh?! Another customer got concerned she wouldn't get her discount. I said I was told by whoever signed me up that's all I had to do to get benefits and every 10th bag of food free. Olivia asked me who said that. I didn't recall the "associate's" name from 2 years ago. I asked when I started. She couldn't tell. I asked if she could change prices. No. I asked for her boss. She said to call customer service. I went to my car to call. The other customer came out and showed me how she was tracking her purchases on the app. Problem was no one told me about the app. She also said she got a $5 price-match discount. What?! Olivia lied. I went to talk to Olivia. I told her she could change prices. She said she can price match, walking back her claim. She asked me to step outside; I did. She policed my frustrated tone, saying I was being rude. I recorded the interaction. Olivia apologized for lying backhandedly, then: Olivia: There was no price difference that could've been given to you that was relevant. Does that make sense? Me: So if I could find a lower price, you would give that to me, correct? Olivia: Yes. Me: [I say she could've bent store policy to fix it, because that's what people do all the time to appease a customer and keep them spending money. Then...] You didn't want to do *anything*-- Olivia: No, I'm so sorry. [In other words, No, I didn't want to do anything for you to make it right.] I can't just give *everybody* price overrides... [as if that's what I was asking.] Me: I'm not everybody [meaning I'm a long time customer who has shopped exclusively at that store for my $80 dog food--it turns out since 2019.] I reiterated how frustrating this whole process was from the time I was a member of the program. Olivia then tries to turn it around on me and say I was being rude: Olivia: And the entire phrasing and tone was very specific *towards me*. [paraphrasing me:] '*You* did this. I gave *you* my phone number. *You* did this. How do you think that comes across, though? Me, while she's still speaking: When I said "you," I'm talking about Petco. Come on. How long have you been in retail, Olivia? Olivia: Does that give you the right to be rude to people? Me: I have a right to be frustrated. Do I not? I wasn't upset until Olivia was totally unhelpful], then yeah, when I come up here and then receive that kind of phrasing and verbiage, that's not very kind. I went to my car, called customer service, and explained the situation. She said they can't help. I learned I've been a member since 2019--not 2 years, 5. I asked for her supervisor. She put me on hold. They wanted me to take a call back from the supervisor. I declined. On hold again, looking up the dog food I was going to buy. Found a cheaper price online. Went back inside, still on hold. I waited sitting against a register counter. I showed her the price difference I had found online. She asked me to show her if it was online pricing or in-store pricing. I said something to the effect of, "That's not what the other woman did to get her discount. She just showed the price difference and got the discount." Olivia said I was causing a public disturbance and called the police. I waited for a supervisor for 35 minutes to find they have a 24-48 hour "call back" policy to wear out individual complaints, hoping we give up. Not this time, Petco :) I. WILL. NEVER. SHOP. AT. Every employee I've ever interacted with seems like they're having a bad day and/or they don't want to be there. I think today was probably my last visit to this particular store. I asked Julie to help me with some fish, and I was responded to with a little gruff about doing an inventory count. There were four particular fish mixed in with the same species (slightly different breed but nearly identical), and I asked for those. It must have been a tough day because on my way up front, I noticed she only got two of them right and it just seemed to be a bother for her to get them, not to mention she busted the first bag and had to redo it all. I decided to not ask for this to be fixed for fear of unleashing hell. Cashier eventually strolled up and was basically comatose. Customer service must indeed be becoming a lost art. read more

I've never been to this Petco and had a good experience. It is always a mess and there is never anyone at the front to ring up your items. I have had a couple experiences (including today) where I have waited a long time to be helped and nobody even notices I'm up there so I just put everything back and leave, but you could honestly just walk out without paying with how inattentive the employees are here. They also never keep their disgusting bugs contained as I have seen crickets jumping around the store multiple times, as well as open boxes of meal worms by the front counter which is something I don't have any desire to see. The ONLY Petco I've been to with such terrible customer service, lack of team communication and an attentive to rip me off. I called to book the dog wash for 2 dogs, 2 tubs, the phone associate said "You'll have the entire area to yourself because we only allow one group at a time but I'll give you 2 slots". I arrive, the cashier says we'll be at tub 1 and charged me for 2 dogs. My boyfriend heads to the wash & the male associate told him we have both tubs. Once I arrive at the wash and place my dog in the tub another employee who claimed to be the Manager aggressively approached my boyfriend and said "Didn't you hear her tell you tub 1?" I said " Excuse me I paid for 2 dogs, 2 tubs, I've already discussed this with the cashier so you guys need to get your community together." This "Manager" named Jade states "Well I'm the Manager and I say you only get one tub." I went to the cashier, requested a refund and because I used my $5 Pals Bucks, I was only refunded $25. I asked how long would it take to put the Pals back to my account and she said "O, we can't do that." I just had to walk out. I feel like this was a racially motivated account, I lost my Pals Rewards and our dogs still needed baths. I ended up finding a groomer up the street that was able to bathe them as she had a last minute cancellation, it was double the money but we'll worth it. DO NOT go to this self wash! No assistance provided. The tub had no ramp to get the dogs in. The bins were dirty with clots of hair. The water temperature would vary greatly from freezing cold to hot without touching the dials. The nozzle on the hose was broken. There were 2 aprons. One for a very small child, neither were water resistant. There were 2 small clean towels for drying. We had two large dogs. Yelled for help- no one came. Had to leave dog to go get assistance, when pointing out the broken nozzle, the man had an attitude stating that he thought it was obvious that it was broken and I should have noticed. Such an absolute asshole. I told him that station should have a sign stating it is out of order since the temperature variance and broken nozzle. He looked at me like I was a total moron. At one point people stopped to ask us if there was someone working the register. This place is a total shit show. read more

I used to really like this store- my rescue dog and I would come here almost every day. The staff were friendly, helpful and kind. Today however, an associate scoffed, sighed, and rolled their eyes when I asked for help cleaning up my pet's accident in the store. And by help, I mean their accessible bottle of cleaning solution was empty so I couldn't clean it myself, and didn't want to leave a mess on the floor for someone else to find. We hit this place up often. Located in the shopping plaza next to Baskin Robins, Big sport 5, and Ham radio outlet. Our fur children prob eat higher on the hog than we do. They go premium with everything. Cat litter, food, toys, vet supplies, treats etc. They have adoptable cats on site here so give a new few kid a stable forever home. They have rodents and lizards here too. Grooming and Training here for dog people. Ample parking and just around the corner from a decent Thai place. I came in the first place to get a cute harness for my puppy.. the price had been crossed out with a black marker (no stickers) the price apparently went from $19.99 to $21.99.. to which I asked "well you can still clearly see the old price as $19.99 can you change it to that.. (I know Petco price matches) so I didn't think it would be a huge deal. Julie I believe her name to be slammed her scanner gun down and clearly was annoyed I asked for a price change. She changed it and proceeded to check me out and very rudely asked if I wanted to use my rewards.. I said no and she gave me the total. I told her that I'm sorry that that was such a huge inconvenience for her and that I thought they should take proper action and remove those Items and order more with correct pricing. They remodeled! Gone is the dark, low-ceiling, funny-smelling, and poorly-organized Petco i said such rude things about a few months ago! Now it's well-lit, better-organized, and smells, well, like a pet store, but that's better than smelling like a dumpster full of rancid cheese. The ceiling is still pretty low, though. So yeah, it's a petco. You can buy your relatively common pet foods, treats, litters, and whatnot here. If you buy some fancy-pants brands for your pet, they probably don't carry it, but you probably knew that already. They have a wall-o-fish to choose from if you prefer damp pets, and a small selection of rodents as well. I've never purchased anything living from a Petco, though, so i have no idea what you'd be getting into. read more

It's A-OK, now. I have a story to tell... My brother-in-law bought seven saltwater fish from this Petco. He was so excited, they were so pretty and colorful, and full of life. He took his new pets home and carefully acclimated them to his tank. After a while he introduced them, on by one, to their new home. They all swam and...swam....happily! The next day he was horrified to find his beloved yellow tang DEAD! Taken from him without a moments notice! He looked around, the other 6 little fishes still seemed OK, swimming around and....swimming...more (they're fish, thats all they do really..) So he thought to himself, "There must have been something wrong with THIS fish." So off he went back to Petco, to see if maybe he could get a new fish, he needed something to fill the hole left in his heart where that happy little yellow tang used to live. When he arrived at Petco he was greeted by a mean troll behind the front counter. He sadly showed the deceased fish to the troll and said, "The other ones are OK, but this little guy just didn't have it in him....Can I have another?" The mean troll cut him off! He said "No you can't have another! It says right on your receipt, we don't guarantee saltwater fish!" This went back and forth for some time, but the mean little troll just didn't want to help, so my sad brother-in-law decided it was time to go and never come back (here is where it gets really good!) As he left he dropped the fish in its little plastic bag coffin and placed it in front of the door and told the little troll, "You can keep this then" and went out side and got in his car. The little troll jumped over the counter and ran outside, scooping up the dead little fish in his grubby little hands, he ran right up to the car and slammed it right on the windshield and screamed, "YOU TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU!!!", then scurried back inside the store. Needless to say my brother-in-law was a little upset by the troll's actions he took the poor little fish, placed it back inside the store, along with a stern warning for the troll, that if he did it again, he may just have to open a can of whoop-ass. The sneaky troll waited for the car to pull away and yelled (not kidding here) "you're the brown stuff that comes out of your butt after anal sex!" Yes you just read that right, that is what the Petco troll screamed across the parking lot. Now, why would I give this Petco three stars you ask? That's because we called and reported this incident, and within 24 hours we were informed that the troll had been sent on his not-so-merry way, they exchanged the poor little fish, and my brother-in-law lived happily ever after. I applaud the quick actions of the management here. In the future I may up my rating, but for now, they aren't the best place to meet my needs because I like saltwater and their selection is small, and prices are not very good. Maybe that will improve though. They are generally cheaper than Petsmart, and USUALLY pretty friendly. The manager was very concerned about the experience and expressed true regret that it happened the way it did. I say give these guys a shot. If you have issues talk to the management, if they have trolls working for them they may not know it unless you tell them! read more

It's a big box pet store with loads of cheap wares. Don't look for quality or high end anything. If you want to buy a cheap beta tank and a mostly dead beta, this place has your ticket. Everyone knows my puppy as I bring her every weekend for puppy play time, which btw is the best idea ever as I don't know many other people with puppy's to socialize her with. I go into this Petco all the time for crickets and after today's interaction, I will no longer visit this store. I found a large juvenile bearded dragon in a small terrarium accompanied by a baby bearded dragon (maybe 2.5 inches long). Any experienced bearded dragon person should know that larger beardies should never be housed with smaller/baby beardies. I voiced my concern to Kirsten who did not respond, rather continued to clean the bird cage. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she stated that I was already speaking to one (later found out from corporate that she is NOT a manager). I asked her if she had a response to my concern and she proceeded to ask if I was an experienced Reptile person. First of all, yes, I am, but that should not have been her response. After a brief exchange, she stated that I should just buy one of their beardies.. assuming I would take care of the problem. I stated that I got a beardie from them over a year ago (April 2017) who had severe parasites so no, I would never purchase a Reptile from Petco again. She proceeded to say that that was old management but that wasn't the point! Overall, I was very disappointed with this interaction and was certainly appalled that an employee would 1. Speak to a customer in this manner and 2. Have NO regard for the care of their animals. I'd give this place a higher rating because Maria the manager is awesome but her employees are downright disrespectful and unprofessional. Took my girl in for a bath and waited in the store until they were done, they were kind, and friendly, I could tell she was comfortable there. Her nails were trimmed as short as they could go, and the bather took their time with her, making me feel like it was worth the money. A far better experience than she had at petsmart. read more

I go to this pet-co a lot and usually I am very pleased, but today I went in to buy a couple of fish and a snail, when the lady who was helping me reached in to get a snail, she told me all of the golden snails were dead and did nothing to remove them. When she went to get a mystery snail she checked them all and told me they were all sick or dead and then put them back in the tank. There were many other fish in the tank with the dead/sick snails. When I got my two fish home that were in the same tank as the snails, one died only a couple hours later before I had placed him in the tank. I am very disappointed and worried about the health of the fish at pet-co. read more
