Petco, it's where the pets go! The atmosphere is friendly and the service people very helpful. If you feel that you want to have your dog try on an outfit, or try a toy he may like, you can! They have hamster races, pet meet and greets, and other cool things. The only down side is their grooming. The groomers take a lot of time for a shoddy job. If your looking for good grooming, take it else where. Otherwise enjoy Petco for feline adoption, the great doggy treat bar, as well as the rawhide bar, and their discounts! read more

I was honestly glad when other stores with pet supplies (Pet Supplies Plus, Runnings) opened in this area because this PetCo has gotten more and more disappointing over the years. The last few times I've been to this location, the store has been dirty. The floors are scuffed up, unpacked pallets of boxes are blocking paths, pet hair and dirt accumulate along the edges of displays and registers. The last time I used the bathroom, it was so dirty I ended up going to TJ Maxx next doors instead. It seems that this location is seriously understaffed so staff are not able to do the cleaning and stocking as needed. I've also seen and heard many concerning things passing by their dog training area. Just one example, one time a reactive GSD was set up next to the front doors (NOT in the little training area!) to be rewarded / corrected when other dogs enter and had to pass him. That's not okay. Someone shopping with their pet shouldn't be forced to be a training dummy where their pet might be attacked. read more

Came in here the day before yesterday to start a freshwater aquarium. We trusted an employee to give us all the details on what we need, aftercare, upkeep, etc. She never advised us on purchasing a water clarifier and nitrate remover to clean the tank as further research online tells you to. Now our fish are dead. We will not be coming back. Petco needs to train their employees accordingly. If she had no experience regarding fish and how to care for them, why is she working in the fish section? read more

VETCO If you ever wondered why every other clinic is backed up on vaccination appointments and this place isn't, I'll tell you why; it's the quality of service. I could go on a huge rant with how many things went wrong today when I went for two simple shots but I'll keep it short. The site is set up in the open right next to the cash registers without any sort of privacy barriers for dogs being vaccinated, of course meaning dogs will be jumpy or anxious with the large amount of foot traffic walking by with pets. The staff also did not properly prep the needle so it had a huge air bubble causing the vet to stick the dog twice. The first time she stuck the dog and began to pushed the plunger she realized the air bubble and took the needle out to prep the syringe. Then the second time around she correctly administered the shot but had her staff hold our pup down making him get really anxious and he begin to try to get out of their hold. So before they administered the next shot they wanted us to place a muzzle on him, we placed the muzzle and they proceeded to readjust and tighten. He was once again held down by two vets but from the struggle he bit his tongue and bleed everywhere. He also vomited and used the bathroom. Keep in mind he is a 5 month old 29Ib Austrian Shepard. We get home and of course he's scared and very to himself clearly he's in pain from the wound on his tongue. For all this we were offered no compensation, I talked to Vetco and the best they could do is annotate it in our account. read more

We went here for the vaccination site. The vet co veterinarians we're not good at all and had me do most of their work on my dog. They treated our puppy horribly, will not be returning ever again to get any vaccines. DON'T BRING YOUR DOG HERE! Completely unprofessional set up and made our baby puppy extremely anxious, uncomfortable and sick. Just wait a month out for real veterinary care from a clinic, don't come here. read more

Terrible customer service and not enough workers every time I come here I spend about 30 minutes here and all I come here for is mice. I walk around looking for a worker most of the time. Today I found one and she send she would send someone over to help me when she wasn't even busy. I waited another 15-20 minutes before I walked out. My girlfriend bought a hamster from here about a month ago. He was perfectly fine when she got him. He was a sweet bubbly character. This is not the first time this has happened! My cousin has gotten two hamsters from this company and they both died within a few months. I don't know what they do to their poor animals but they need to do better or close! Not happy. Jennifer the groomer is absolutely amazing. First, she noticed that my little girl was super nervous so she came out and made she she was comforted with lots of pets and love. She also helped me with deciding on how short to cut her hair since she isn't used to the humidity here so her hair begat to mat a little. When we picked her up she looked absolutely perfect and we could be more in love with her grooming! read more

Dropped my dog off here and it took 3 hours to get her back. We understood that they were busy but customer service was terrible. Morgan the groomer was super rude to my wife and I and was rude once again when I went back to pickup my dog, wouldn't recommend. My dog also came back looking exactly the same, almost 100% certain that they just blow dried my dog and sprayed her with perfume. We will not be wasting our time or money with this Petco location for grooming again. read more

2 hours ago-Edit About 5 months ago I bought a puppy training package for both level 1 and 2. I did this with the understanding that I would be receiving lessons with the lead trainer, Christine. My time with Christine was AWESOME and my little pup really grew fond of her (she's pretty shy). I went in for a lesson one day and Christine was no longer going to be training dogs. Im not sure what happened but I tried to talk to Christine about it and the manager on duty was so unprofessional and essentially scolded me to get away from Christine and then told me they'll call soon to arrange a new trainer. Well, about 7 weeks went by and NOBODY called. And to be honest, I only wanted to train with Christine because that's who I understood was going to be training my pup when I bought the $200+ package. I called to talk to the manager to get a refund for my puppy package level 2, since I never started it and the new amatuer trainer called me back, NOT the manager. Finally I went in to talk to the store manager and she was beyond rude. Told me that unless I had my receipt from (at this point) over 6 months ago, she can't do anything because store records are only from the past 3 months. I'm sorry....do they not pay taxes? I have it on my statement that I spent that much at Petco on the date I purchased the training package , and you're telling me they can't look that up? Or have corporate look it up? Nice try. Store manager was a young girl, probably in her late 20's. So rude, spoke to me the whole time with her arms crossed. Pet supplies plus here I come! read more

I'm sorry to say that we received inaccurate information regarding having our puppy's nails cut back at 8 weeks. She didn't have her 2nd set of shots yet but I was told 'No problem' and my husband braved the snow to take her in. Then found out she had to have had her shots. He spoke to the manager who apparently couldn't have cared less about the misinformation or weather-related travel based on misinformation. There are very few choices in this neck of the woods but I assure you that Petco is at the bottom of our list. Too bad. We now have two puppies but shall prevail without PetCo! read more

Booked an appointment for grooming a week out. When we got there they were sitting around and said they didn't have record of an appointment, but I could schedule one for another time. There were no other animals and three people were just sitting around. I bought a clipper for the price of one grooming and will do it myself just to not have to deal with these people ever again. read more

After getting my pup groomed with "the works", my pup was still dirty, with a dirt spot on his head that he was dropped off with. He also had dry skin and unbrushed shedding fur. His nails were cut but not ground as described in "the works" from the associate. I'm very disappointed to spend $50 on a pup bath and receive mediocre treatment. We went to Petco to purchase a hamster. I kindly asked the worker if we could see a hamster we were interested in. She said she could not take them out unless we were purchasing one. I explained that we were interested in purchasing one. She seemed bothered and hesitantly said "Ok... which one were you interested in?" I pointed to a group of dwarf hamsters and she immediately said "Oh no I DEFINITELY can't take those out." Well alrighty then! So off we went to Pet Supplies Plus to purchase a hamster. I am new to the area and my golden doodle was overdue for a haircut. I was a little nervous based on reviews but needed to get her in ASAP so I figured I'd give them a shot. She is 8 and this is the best groom she's ever had. Usually she goes from furball to rat as far as looks go but they were able to remove a lot of hair and still keep her cute as can be. The staff is very rude and I've had several occasions where they schedule my pet an appointment and when you go in that day, they say their system didn't save the appointment and I had to reschedule. This place absolutely disgusted me. I browsed the whole store (because I want to keep ALL the animals) and there was not a single healthy looking animal in sight. 90% of their beta fish were dead (like... Disintegrating), dead fish were found in the tops of each tank. Greasy looking, lethargic gerbils and hamsters... Parakeets and canaries exhibiting very unnatural, concerning behavior (ripping their feathers out, writhing and thrashing)... Rats so crowded that they literally could not all lay on the floor of their habitat... Then, the kicker - a VERY dead rat in the corner of the cage. When I say very dead I mean DECOMPOSING. It's horrifying to me that out of the 20 something employees working last night, none of them noticed - or cared - about any of this stuff. I'll be calling their management today. read more

I love this place! My dog is an older dog and needs more natural products. I love the selection of the natural products. It is very pet friendly. I love that they do the vaccinations on the dogs here, and my dog enjoys the socializing. My only complaint is that it is pricey. Their prices on the natural foods is up there with a specialty shop. Dog bowls, leashes, etc. are also fairly expensive when they really do not need to be. read more

Went in yesterday for the marine sale and I was blown away! I have a fresh 125 gallon tank- and Cheyenne helped me out setting it up from day one. From live rock, to snails, to cleaner shrimp, everything you can think of. Now I have a new porcupine puffer, a blue tang, a diamond watchmen goby, and some very happy clown fish. I've dealt with many people in your fish department- the young gentleman (I can't remember his name), Victoria, and they're ALL very friendly and knowledgeable! I love this sale and it's so great the foundation donates to help save the oceans. I also bring my dog here for grooming and Jen is AMAZING. I won't go to anyone else BUT her! read more

I would like to know why every time we stop in to the watertown store to get feeder fish for our turtle we have to walk up front to the cashier ask her to page someone and then go back and wait just for no one to show up oh yes there are plenty of employees walking around and putting boxes in different areas looks at us and keeps going, never once asking if we need help or I don't know say getting the person in charge of the fish that day and telling them they have customers waiting, maybe your employees at this store need to take a class on good customer service, needless to say we walked out after waiting 15 min empty handed, so no fish for our turtle and no sale for petco. read more

Just went in for a grooming appointment. Got in line and on the list. After 40 minutes i was told this is only for vetco appointment,even though I told the girl I was here for grooming and she said ok, so I missed my grooming appointment when I was early for the appointment. On Sunday, 8/13 I brought my dog to Petco for a bath, and if there was time, perhaps to have a few nots removed. I was shocked when 2 hours later I picked up the dog (a Golden Retriever). I was told the dog did not look all that bad. I was upset but have learned a confirmation in the moment produces little reward, so I drove home (about 60 miles) and then called the store. I ask to speak to the manager and was eventually connected with a woman who reported being the manager. She had seen the dog, and indicated she was present when I pick up the dog. She apologized profusely and agreed this was not the way a golden should be groomed. She reported having a golden herself and would have been as upset as I was if her dog had been disfigured as mine was. She claimed to not realizing I had been charged for the bath and she would refund the money. I was also told the groomer had gotten in over her head and been severely reprimanded for what she had done to my dog. The fur on the front legs (where there were no knots) had been completely shaved as had been her backside. The sides remained ungroomed. The groomer claimed to have tried to reach me (all the shaving was done without permission) but my caller id did not show an incoming call. Sierra was one of the employees who offered to groom the dog is I brought her back. When I had the opportunity to examine the underside of the dog I was shocked to find all the knicks in the skin and the irritation around the nipples. I ask to speak with the manager the next day (Monday, and was assured he would call). As of this date, the refund has not been issued nor has the store manager called. The dog looks really bad. This was a beautiful dog that now is difficult to look at. In my opinion Petco performed actions on my dog that were not approved, injured the dog by the way she was groomed on her underside, promised a refund that was not delivered and was promised a call by the manager that never happened. Petco has made no effort to make this right and this is the basis of my complaint. read more
