My mom bought her dog in for a grooming appointment, and the experience was beyond disappointing. The dog growled once out of nervousness , nothing aggressive, just fear , and the staff immediately turned her away without even trying to calm her or assess the situation. What made it worse was the customer service. One staff member was outright rude when turning my mom away, and another gave her a very disrespectful dirty look, as if we were inconveniencing them for showing up. This was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. I even called the team lead afterward to explain what happened, and she didn't bother apologizing or showing any empathy. She acted like the situation didn't matter and offered no solution. Any groomer should know how to handle nervous dogs with patience and compassion , and the staff here showed neither. If your pet is even slightly anxious, or if you expect basic respect when you walk in, I would not recommend coming here. There are far better groomers who actually care about their clients (both pets and people). read more

I'm delighted reading all of the good reviews on this establishment, but unfortunately, for my dog & I that was not the case. Let me start by saying anyone working in the "vaccination" clinic is an incompetent wanna be vet-tech parading around in scrubs to make you believe they know what they're doing. Please don't be fooled. I've never in my life heard of refusing a dog vaccines bc it is stressed. The dog is at a vet clinic with other animals & chaos ensuing everywhere. Of course it is stressed... I've read multiple reviews on how this place worked so well with other people's reactive pups. Not sure what changed when me & mine walked in, but I'm happy to take my business & my MONEY elsewhere. Hire more competent employees. Clean your store, it's filthy. read more

Went into petco today for crickets. They have been sold at the registers for years. When I approached the lady at the register was very rude saying they are not at the register anymore while rolling her eyes at me. I proceeded to the reptile department where the gentleman who was working that department said he was the right person because "he was the only person working" while getting flustered that I needed crickets. I walked out saying I would go to another store. He followed me saying "come back I will get them for you." I proceeded to take my business to another pet store. My appointment was at 1 pm today, I arrived at 12:45, and before 12:58 notified me that I could take my pug. It took less than 15 minutes. I left a tip of $ 5.00 to her (I wish I knew her name)because I was a person who knew to tip. But what made me angry was that, when I went home to take a closer look at my pug, I found that some of his nails were crack cut, and some were not cut at all, and all the nails were not polished. Very dissatisfied, since you charged $ 15.00 for nail buffing, less than 15 minutes of nail cutting, and some of the nails even Not Cut at all. I don't understand how did you get this job? This is your typical Petco pet store, maybe a bit smaller than some of the others in the area. The reason I am give this Petco 5 is their dog trainer, Scott. He is amazing! He's so good that Petco has him train people for all the stores in the area. The classes are so much fun, and Scott tailors the direction of each session towards what we want to work on. You don't feel like you're in a strict canned curriculum. Scott runs a free puppy playtime on Saturdays at 10:00am, for puppies younger than 5 months. We started our baby when she was 9 weeks. Puppy playtime is just as much fun as it sounds, and it's a great way to socialize your dog. read more

I'd give a fat zero if it was an option. Went for vaccine clinic- total chaos is an understatement. Customers are left to stand around asking one another what the process is because there is not a single bit of direction. Waited 20 mins to even check in, then another hour to be called to fill out paperwork. Then the guy tells me they won't update my dogs rabies vaccine because I reported that she had a reaction to a different vaccine in the past. I asked why they wouldn't tell people that or have a sign, etc. The staff member stated that he had told me when I checked in. No, you clearly didn't tell me anything because it's not my idea of thrills having to wait for an hour and a half for nothing, so I surely wouldn't still be hanging around had you informed me of this. I will never again consider taking my pet here for any type of service and I will be sure to never recommend this program to anyone. If you can't handle administrative tasks - then you probably can't handle taking care of my pet. read more

I am an experienced unpasteurized cow milk taste tester. I can taste the defect in almost any cows unpasteurized milk. The defect in this one is bleach, this one tastes like the cow got into an onion patch, etc. Quick question though, Do your chickens have large talons? Every time I come here, everyone is so nice and helpful. My favorite part about coming here is the grooming staff. My dog has always been terrified of getting her nails cut, and she now doesn't mind it when she gets them done here. We think the vet scared her when they held her down, and the first time I came to petco, Devyn treated Rosie with such love. Devyn did an amazing job making Rosie feel comfortable, and even though she doesn't like getting her nails cut, she loves seeing Devyn and giving her kisses when she's finished. My wife and I recently adopted a puppy. So naturally our first stop was Petco. We were greeted by an employee named Scott. Great guy. Very friendly and professional. We explained to him that after the adoption fees, and a visit to the vet, funds were limited, and didn't want to break the bank before we even brought the puppy home to the kids. He walked us throughout the store and helped us with everything we needed. He was very thorough. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. He made suggestions, and made comparisons between products. He knows what he's talking about. If you're in need of pet products, stop off here and see Scott. read more

I am speaking only on their grooming services, which are superb. Staff is very friendly attentive to what I ask for, and my dog always looks great when I pick them up. I also like that they have a special on bath and blow dry if you book an appointment during the early part of the week. Helps me keep my dog looking pristine on a budget. read more

I'm not a huge fan of Petco. They're much smaller than Petsmart, and they remind me a bit of Pet Supplies Plus, which is where I used to go before I realized that there are much better (and cleaner) pet stores around. When I walked in, I expected to get a nice greeting since I was the only person in the store and I walked right past the register. No cigar. I also had my dog, Simba, and the workers didn't even offer him a treat or ask about him the whole time I was there. I'm accustomed to much friendlier service at the Petsmart I typically go to, on Telegraph. Petco has a fair selection of products, but at least at this location, the workers didn't seem to know much about them. When I asked the cashier, I was sort of testing her, because I have done the research and simply wanted to hear what she would recommend...ah well, learned my lesson there. It's much better to trust your own judgment than a girl who probably only got this job to pay the bills. I only stopped here because I was in the area and had to grab some of those poop bags to bring with me to the park. Not the best experience, so I probably won't be back. If my four-legged friends can't get a little "hello" at a pet store, that's enough to make me try other places that are more welcoming. read more

Took my schnoodle to be groomed here when the Livonia petco at 7 mile & middlebelt turned him away. His groomer was Amanda, she was wonderful, very good with older dogs, especially him he was a little nervous. Highly recommended that you check them out!!! read more

The trainer allowed a reactive dog in our puppy 2 class. As the rest of us sat there watching in horror, the trainer repeatedly squirted that barking, terribly upset dog in the face with water. Also, I paid a lot of money for training and spent most of the time walking my dog around and around the store. Sorry, but I can do that for free. There was no structure to what would be covered in each session either. The instructor was making it up on the fly. read more

I took my dog here for a bath and nail trim and when I came back my dogs nails were bleeding! they trimmed too low and instead of admitting they were wrong they said her veins in her nailbeds are too long! Made my usual monthly trip for dog food for our adopted Labrador. Blue buffalo chicken and wild rice mix has been his food since adoption back in 2010. I like the organization of the store. It was clean and ready for a new day of business. I do wish that they would keep someone working closer to the cash wrap. Took our new puppy in that he have only had 2 weeks. She is nervous around a lot of people & dogs, so we wanted to let her explore at her own pace. An associate picked her up after I said she could pet her. She also insisted on a free nail trim, which I agreed, but she swooped her up and took to the grooming area when another associate was giving me pamphlets, she didn't even wait for me. I wanted to watch my puppy get her nails done (it was her first time & she was scared) and the associates were visibly annoyed?? The sales associate was also recommending so many things outside her scope of work. She's an hourly employee NOT a veterinarian. Also do not touch or pick up my dog without permission. The customer service was good. Everybody seem to be someone happy. It is definitely a supply store before a pet store. They do have a small selection of pets. I bought a couple of different fish from there and within a month they died. It's not my water because all my other fish are very very healthy so beware of that. The place was clean for the most part. If you're looking for supplies over pets this is definitely the place to go but just beware of buying fish from there have them test the water first before you buy their fish. I took my dogs there serval times i don't think i'll be back the grooming is terrible cuts uneven nails barley clipped so that you'll have to come back more often. When I'm paying $45 each I'm not to happy kicking out $90 for poor service. Other than that I haven't had a problem but i'll be looking for a new groomer. They were friendly but the groomers need more training or lower your prices. read more

The grooming department has terrible customer service. They are always "short staffed" and it takes an act of god to get an appointment to get your dogs nails cut. I asked for future appointments for a 5 minute service and they couldn't even give me a time as they are always working until different hours so I would have to "call back tomorrow" to see if they can get me in. read more

I will tell you my Experience with this petco. I wanted to become an owner of a little hamster but the Petsmart next to me only had boys and I was pretty set on a girl. and I use to live near this petco and I had been there before with not much trouble. They had girl Hamsters. But their prices were about 5-15$ more for everything I wanted to purchase then petsmart which Is crazy. No one asked if I needed help, I had to go up the cash register and ask to get assistant to get a hamster. It took them a bit to get there and I just picked the one I wanted and the lady shoved it in a box. No you want to hold her? or Oh she is cute. Also I will add no one told me about anything or gave me some tips which I expect them to be a bit more helpful then ringing her up. But I was happy I got a cute little friendly pet. Well that isnt the end of it. The ending to this is very sad. I brought my hamster home. and she was fine the first day or so but she was VERY skittish. Then she just sat in her house all day and I started to get concerned she had poop all over her butt, and so i looked up info myself and realized she had something called wet tail. So I called petco and they explained to me they would take her and bring her to the vet and put her on meds for free if she was under the 10 day warranty. which I was very happy about. So I took her up there and they told me it would take 7-14 days and they would call when she went to the vet. Well NO one called so I called them and they said she was still a little active and they she would be good as new in probably 7 days just like she got a little cold. They said they would call in 7 days. Well after 7 days No call, so I had call them. They said she was still under care and they would call well again after 14 days no call I called them. They said she was still under care, but the next day they left a voicemail saying she was back in the store and I could come get her. I couldnt that day because I had to work so my boyfriend went instead. He and the guy saw her and she was NOT well. Like she hadnt gotten treatment at all. They said they would be taking her back to the vet. I was not happy. But here is the worst part! a day or two after I decided to call cause I had no word if they took her or not. So I asked the lady and she just goes "oh your hamster unfortunately did not make it" I was upset and angry ! I asked when this happen and she said Wednesday morning and it was Thursday in the late afternoon. I angrily asked why I was not informed and all she could give me was that she was not working that day so she does not know why I wasnt. I just said thanks for the info and said goodbye. I am not happy! Just because I had the hamster only for a week or so does not mean I do not care about her. I will NEVER go there again. I felt they were not communicating with one another or me very well and I fear my hamster never even got any care. Buy all pets from smaller pet store businesses is your best bet. read more
