Stay far away from Dr. Peter Chi. If you value your life and health, you need to avoid this doctor at all cause. He is unfit to be a doctor, bad temper, hardly there since he's using nurses or medical student with little or no experiences to act for him most of the time since he's hardly in the office. This so call doctor is a phony with bad attitude, poor communication skill and terrible temperament. This so call doctor has no clue on healing/helping patient recover. COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All patients are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for patients to use. This place is open and available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between patients. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. They do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is non existent. You will have to park on the street. However, I discovered a public parking lot right next to their establishment. Just park there or park on the street. Staff: The office is very clean, neat, and tidy. The staff here are very RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, and JERKS. While waiting in the waiting room, you can actually hear the doctor chastise his patients. Red flag #1. Then, while I was waiting in the waiting room, someone came in and asked the doctor to sign some documents. The doctor came out and demanded that the patient pay him first before signing anything. Red flag #2. This doctor is hella money hungry and doesn't give a single flying f*** about his patients. How the hell did he make it as a doctor?!?! Finally, when it was my turn, the doctor only saw me for 7 minutes. He brushed off all of my concerns as me "over thinking" things and ushered me out the door. What an a**hat. Red flag #3. Never coming back again. Also, his receptionist is very impatient and aggressive. Has a fricken sassy AF attitude and tone. Red flag #4. AVOID THIS PLACE! They accept both cash and credit cards. No urgency, doesn't matter what you are going through, they won't see you till...‍ Last year I was out of my Blood pressure medication. I've been on the meds for 18 years now. Pharmacy called this office, doctor refused to issue more prescription until I come in for consultation. If they are human, at least prescribe for 1 month while I schedule an appt? Since the damn appt is gonna take awhile! And recently, I had a major accident and hit my head on the pavement, with a lot of cuts and abrasions, went to urgent care and was told I should get a CT scan. So I had to call this office to get an appt for a ct scan referral. I had nose bleed everyday for the last 3-4 days I told this office, and they gave me an appt like 3 days later. I've been treated by Jayne Zhang & Tanya for the past year & half at Dr. Chi's office in TC. I have never met Dr. Peter Chi personally, but the staffs (Cindy, Veronica, Stephany, Calvin etc.) are great, helpful, easy to schedule my follow up appointments. Authorizations are submitted & I get them w/in 2wks or earlier. Unfortunately, Jayne NP has left the establishment so sad she was able to assist me, very understanding, get me to the specialists that I've needed. My diabetes has drastically improved with my own hard work as well! I'm glad Tanya is still with Dr. Chi's office, but she's only there on Mondays. :) I don't understand why Dr. Chi has such low ratings. read more

I had a couple sores on the back of my throat and was luckily able to book an appointment on 6/18 afternoon at 4:45pm. The office is a decent size with proper COVID accommodations. I got there around 4:30pm waited not too long (10 minutes to go in and another 10 to be seen by the doctor) Dr. Chi was kind and caring. He assured me the diagnosis of my symptoms, and I was able to pick up the medicine from 986 pharmacy across the center area. All in all, a good experience and will definitely go back for another visit. read more

Healthcare worker here: this man is the worst doctor I've talked with. He has no patience, has a bad attitude and a bad temper with staff and patients. We called for records from an outside hospital and he refused to give them to us to help out one of his patients. Told us to call the Arcadia hospital to get medical records because he refused to give us any medical information, even though the patient gave us clearance, and delayed us giving proper medical care to his patient. Today is the first time I went to this business for annual physical. The receptionist asked me for copay to establish the customer profile. I said annual physical is free at all other locations. She is rude and impolite and asked for the copay regardless of what I had said. The office was super damp and dark. The employees there are not friendly at all. I'm disappointed to say that my first and only experience at this office is awful. My healthcare insurance automatically assigned me to this office, and so I decided to go in for lower back pain and sporadic hives. For this visit, I did pay a copay. The nurse practitioner who met with me was Tanya, and she ordered blood work and X-ray. I asked her if she knew how much these tests might cost me, and she replied that she doesn't know because she doesn't handle insurance. She clearly told me that after my blood work, we could speak over the phone about the results. I didn't realize that their office actually charges to receive an explanation of lab results. I did the blood work at LabCorp, which emailed me the results the day after. But there are a couple issues with my results that would be most helpful for a physician to address. Unfortunately, on a phone call with the office, the receptionist, Aileen, told me I'd have to schedule an appt to hear an interpretation of my blood work results. Aileen not only sounded uninformed about the office's procedures but also uncaring. Note that this office doesn't use email or texting to communicate with patients - a sign of how outdated they are. To sum up, this office only cares about money, and failed to get me towards treatment for my lower back pain or hives. Just ignore the very old bad reviews. Dr. Chi has been my doctor for years now, ever since Dr. May retired, and Dr. Chi was Dr. May's own physician at that time. That alone was all the recommendation I needed. Dr. Chi practices very good medicine, and really cares about his patients. He has had staff problems in the past, but that is ancient history. If Dr. Chi has a personality trait it is simply that he let's the appointments run over time. He let's the patients take all the time they want, and he talks at length. I can always count on being seen exactly one later than the appointed time, so I bring my smartphone. His hospital and nursing facility rounds run over, so even his first office visit in the morning or after lunch will run late. If having a very competitent, caring, informative physician is what you want, you will find none better than Dr. Chi. If you only desire to get in on time and get out quickly, go elsewhere. read more

Literally the worst office staff I have ever encountered. I had not been to a doctor in several years. at the urgings of my wife I made an appointment. At the visit, I am told I need blood work done, but they said they can't do it because I didn't fast. I told them that no one had told me that I had to fast before getting blood work done they said ok, you can come back tomorrow. So i go in the next day and they say I have to pay another co-payment, I said well i already paid yesterday and I would have had the blood work done had some one told me I had to fast so i wouldn't have been charged. They said they assumed that everyone knew you had to fast and I replied well I informed the office member that I made the initial appointment I had not been to a doctor in more than a decade. They said fine I wouldn't be charged. They took my blood and said I would get my results in about 2 weeks. 4 weeks later I call since I had not heard anything from the office. They inform me that I should have made an appointment at the time of the blood draw to get my results. I said no one told me or asked about making an appointment. Before my call, I was also informed that your annual visit is supposed to be free so I asked the lady on the phone about that. You said, she doesn't know why I was charged, but that charge was applied to my visit for the blood work. I told her my long tale, but she didn't seem to care. She said that blood work is not always a part of an annual check up and only if a condition is found that blood work is ordered so not being told that I had to fast before the first check up was not their fault. I told her I had no condition nor was I informed of any condition I had prior to them having the blood work done. Then she put me on hold and another lady jumped on the call. She informed me that I could pick up my blood results for free or I would have to pay the co pay if I wanted the doctor to read the results to me. My biggest issue or issues is the staff all seems to say different things: First, no one informed me I needed to fast before blood work. Second, they charged me a co pay when it was my annual wellness visit and had I not brought that to their attention they would have taken that money. Third, if blood work is only ordered if a condition is found (which is supposedly their policy) then even if you came in for your free wellness check, you probably are going to have to pay something (seems really shady to me). Lastly, the lady I spoke to today told me that the money they shouldn't have been charged was applied to my blood work visit, but no one told me. Her reply was it was something internal and that they didn't need to inform me (even though on that visit the lady that gave the ok for them not to charge me that day, did not know I paid the day before). I could care less about the co pay ($20)....their lack of professionalism, overall lack of logic and strange "policies" makes this place 1 star. The funny thing is, the doctor seemed ok. Mom passed away a few months ago. This doctor put our family through hell. He has always had a very negative tone and no compassion when he talked to the patient and members of our family. He also never gave a clear diagnosis of our mom's illness. At the end of our mom's life, because of the language barrier between her and the doctor, we needed to translate for Mom. We told him that Mom was very tired and had requested to stop all treatment and that she wanted to go painlessly. He then said, in a very loud voice, "You want to die? You can never wake up to see your family again". It was a very painful and rude question for us to translate to our mom. But we did anyway. Mom closed her eyes and nodded her head and tears rolled down her cheeks. When we asked for hospice service, he told us to wait. Furthermore, instead of showing respect and empathy for our situation, he rudely said, "You need to chill out! You have anxiety. You need to take medication instead of your mom." This doctor has no professional manners and should not remain a doctor. The medical board should take his license away. read more

I've stayed with Dr. Peter Chi out of convenience for way too long. My previous PCP was literally across the street but unfortunately had a stroke and had to dissolve his practice, passing off patients and their files to Dr. Chi. I had a PPO for a long time which gave me the luxury of not needing to see Dr. Chi for everything since PPOs allow you more flexibility in who you choose to see w/o needing a referral from your PCP for every little thing, including a change in a specialist. Anyways, my husband has been asking me to change our PCP for years and today was finally the day. I dropped off CT results w/ the recommendations noted for further testing to Dr. Chi's office 3 WEEKS ago. I did not have an appointment but went with the intention to drop off the results and schedule an appointment. When he saw me at the receptionist's window he acknowledged me and asked me what was going on, so I explained. He told me to follow up w/ my OB but he would look at my results. I explained that I had seen my OB but that she was not going to follow the recommendation for the further testing. His voice escalated and he asked me what I wanted him to do. I told him I wanted a referral to a different OB or for him to order the MRI. He proceeded to tell me that I was a problem and I could not dictate my own healthcare! What?!? In today's medical landscape I disagree strongly, you must be your own advocate. Aggravated and upset that he yelled at me I decided to let things be for now but TODAY, 3 weeks later, Stephanie (his nurse) calls me and said the Dr had reviewed my results and wanted to know if I had the MRI done. REALLY?!? The MRI Dr. Chi told me was not of any importance 3 weeks ago. Of course, I was upset for several reasons 1) I personally gave them the results w/ the MRI recommendation 3 weeks ago. Why look at them now? And, if he never submitted a request/referral for an MRI how on earth did he expect me to get it done? I was so blown away and Stephanie seemed shocked at my total surprise and upset emotion that she put me on hold, I told her that wasn't necessary that it was clear to me that I needed to find a new Dr ASAP. After waiting on hold anyways despite my better judgement, she came back on the phone and said the Dr wanted to talk to me. Again, now he asks, if I got the MRI done. SERIOUSLY?!? I told him that after he yelled at me the last time I was there that I did not feel the need to follow up with him any longer. He proceeds to tell me that I inappropriately had a consult with him over the receptionist desk without an appointment...wait, he stopped and asked me what was going on. Needless to say, I now have a new PCP. I want to make a few points (although there are many) as to why those considering him as their Dr. should reconsider: 1) No privacy: The walls are paper thin AND he has computer monitors on in his patient rooms with the names & date of birth of his patients for the day...um, HIPPA violation? I think so! Total disregard for patient privacy. I once heard him tell an elderly man in the next room over (yes, paper thin walls) that just because his wife could no longer meet his sexual needs that he didn't have to go without, that he had options! Wow! Did the Dr just suggest infidelity? I highly doubt this elderly man came in to discuss his lack of sexual activity! 2) Does not understand time off vs disability compensation: After talking to him about how I felt my condition warranted a brief period of time off from work he wrote me an off work Dr's note. I went on to explain that I would need his staff to also help me fill out FMLA paperwork and State Disability (and I acknowledged he probably had a fee that I was more than willing to pay). He refused. Said I couldn't have it both ways, FMLA OR State Disability, he stated doing both would be "double-dipping." I explained to him that I had administered leaves for many years for a large employer and FMLA is a job protecting leave (without pay), State Disability would provide partial compensation during my leave. Again, he disagreed. Finally I got through to him by telling him that State Disability was only available to me if I paid into it, which I have for over 20 years AND if I was double-dipping the state would be sure to come after me for those wages. Reluctantly, he put his ignorance aside and helped me out. 1 star is way too generous, too bad there is no option for a ZERO star review! read more

My mother is disabled, 87 years old and adores Dr. Chi, as do I. Years ago, he was the only doctor who listened when we explained my mother's symptoms. The underlying problem could have killed her. He had her admitted and into surgery the next day. Our well regarded family doctor did not take her symptoms seriously. We had met Dr. Chi when he consulted on a case when mom had been hospitalized and were impressed. Dr. Chi's staff are excellent at dealing with insurance, pharmacies, labs and everyone you have to interface with to get the care wanted and needed. They are excellent at keeping you advised on what is going on with your health. I find Dr. Chi and his staff to be friendly enough, but more important to me, they get the work done that counts, take you seriously and take care of you. We have been with Dr. Chi around 15 years now, through all kinds of health crises. He works with an excellent team of specialists and calls on them when needed. He takes excellent care of you as does his staff. Over time, there is nothing more endearing than good care, efficiency and excellent results. They are outstanding professionals. I was a paramedic years ago and have learned to be a little skeptical of doctors based upon how they actually care for medical needs. The most popular doctors are not necessarily the best. I have known Dr. Peter Chi since high school back in 2003. I mostly went to see him for antibiotic shots during AP seasons in the spring, where stress weakened my immune system. That was between 2004-2007. Most recently, I've consulted with him regarding my heavy metal poisoning that I concocted in China during my year off from college in 2009. Dr. Chi has always been very patient in listening to my thoughts and providing a comprehensive plan in tackling my issues. We undergone different testing to provide for a more complete view of my illness, and thankfully I am now better. This review is more for the staff than Dr. Chi but because what you need 80% of the time comes from the staff they are a critical part of a doctors review. They are incompetent. I needed a simple letter stating that my mother was not capable of decision making post stroke as she has considerable damage to her brain. After over 10 calls and stressing that we needed it by Wed after 4 working days they have not been able to produce a simple letter. Office Manager's first question after the PA had received a text and office had received a fax from mother's care center , not to mention my 9 previous calls, was "what letter"?
