I contracted services with this company but had to cancel before delivery because the company did responded to my calls or callbacks as promised. I also lost confidence in their services after being told the wood did not need to be acclimated to my residence, which I found concerning and unprofessional. The wood was never delivered, and I requested a full refund of my $2,450 deposit. Unfortunately, I an still pursuing further action to recover my funds. Peter and his crew were exceptional from start to finish. We are in a newly built home but the builder did a poor job and only put one coat of poly on the floors. Peter visited our home and looked over the project answered our questions and concerns and pointed out that the floors were poorly finished by the builder with wave patterns across the oak floors. Peter responded promptly with an estimate. When his crew arrived to start the work they took great care in masking off areas and taping around cabinet bases etc. The quality of the work is beautiful. This is the worst flooring contractor in Chicago. Completely dishonest and in my opinion criminal. Peter will come out to give you a quote and when they can start. After that the communication ends. They send wood to your house that sits and takes up space. Calls go unanswered and they don't start weeks until they promised. When they start doing the work, they will increase the price on you and invoice you for way more than the agreed upon price. When you try to explain that this isn't what we had agreed upon they threaten to send it to collections. Shady company and deserves no business. Avoid at all costs. read more

Many years ago we had him refinish our first floor wood floors and later replace the carpeting in our first floor bedroom with Bamboo. Well, Peter came to my house gave me a quote and with my very tight schedule was able to get the job scheduled and install before my deadline. I was concerned of the quality of craftmanship and able to get the job scheduled (everyone else were 1 1/2 to 2 months out) and finished on time. Well, the job was flawless!!! Had 2 very minor areas that needed to be addressed but that was only because of a special NON-standard base trim install. They quickly addressed them for me and finished the job. Peter flooring did a wonderful job at our home, refinishing our hardware floors. They were very responsive to visiting the home, recommending solutions, and following up with the estimate. Peter Flooring took on the challenge to repair unsightly areas at a very reasonable price while other companies would not touch it. Peter Flooring also committed to our schedule (we did need to arrange to be out of the house with our dogs, so this is very important) and was very accommodating with providing color samples and options for coatings. The results exceeded our expectations. All of the unsightly areas are fixed and the floors look like original construction (hour home is 75 years old). Peter came for a quote and witnessed some disagreement between the doorman and my sister. Later on the phone, he advised me to be nice to my doorman and he kept calling me Mrs. I have no idea what transpired but I'm not in the habit of taking personality advice from a flooring professional. Strike one. I was discussing the styles I liked and he said no you don't want this, you want that. Strike 2. He said he would sent photos of recent project, I didn't even ask for them but It took him over a week to send them. I responded with a photo of a style we liked and asked him to send pictures of sample colors. Crickets. Nothing. 2 weeks later on a Friday night, after 10 pm, I get 3 phone calls, a voicemail and an email saying I haven't responded to his quote and he would really like to know over way or another. Then, I get, yet another text the next morning. You've got to be kidding. We are professional middle age women doing our elderly aunt's apartment. We had a wonderful experience with Peter Flooring from start to finish. Peter (the owner) came to our home to look at our job. He explained the process we would be needing to take: removing the carpet, removing old floors underneath, sanding, leveling, and then installation of our new floors. Peter had an excellent range of flooring to choose from. He was able to obtain the materials quickly and we set a date. His workmen were respectful, hardworking, and left our first floor beautifully redone. We can't believe the transformation that has occurred in our first floor. Incredible work, reasonable rate, and prompt communication. Peter refinished the original white oak and Douglas fir hardwood floors in our two-story house. He was able to squeeze us into his schedule so the floors had time to cure before we moved in, and even though we were sandwiched between two other jobs we never felt like he was rushing through our home. He even dropped off some extra white oak gratis prior to starting so my partner could patch some broken planks and missing boards on the first floor. Used them 2x. Everything is great until there is a problem and then you can forget about it. You are on your own. The owner was more interested in telling me why I am wrong instead of stepping up like a fair business person and correcting the issue. Over a relatively short time (within 2 years) after a smaller oak floor job that should have been good with no issues for 30 years, it began to curl up at the sides enough to be seen with the eye and felt with the foot when wearing sox. I asked Peter for help, but he quickly got me so upset by talking over me when I tried expaining my view of why he should help me. He absolutley refused to help of until I gave a bad review here and then offered a very weak and insulting "solution" to the problem (to sand 3 boards when a 10x 10 ft. area was affected, what??!! He only cared that I would remove my unfavorable review and had ZERO concern about my fair request to re-sand and restain the small area of the floor they installed to make things right. The owner would rather argue with you than be fair and fix their mistake. The issue was they did not allow the wood to adjust to my home's environment for long enough before putting it down, so it curled at the sides. I was stressed out with the problem but because of the fact they would not help me with a correct repair...it just made things much worse. I thought for sure they would help me out. Wrong! read more
