I was having the hardwood floors in my condo refinished. I mistakenly had my family handyman start the job. The moment he told me he needed to rent a sander from Home Depot, I knew this was a task too tall for him. Once he finished the first stain you could tell something was wrong - there was marks from the sander, uneven stain - it was a mess. I reached out to Unique Hardwood Flooring and they assured me they would be able to fix the mistakes of my previous handyman and sand and stain the floors to look how I intended. We scheduled a walk through right away and Mike again pacified my concerns about the floor, "We will fix this. No problem at all". Unique Hardwood Flooring is an excellent company to work with. Great communication from the first moment of contact to the completion of the order. I was able to schedule a walk through quickly and then I was on the schedule within the next couple of days. My condo was having about 500 sq ft refinished. When I went let the crew up I was amazing by how much equipment they had - about 2 elevators full. This is when I had 100% confidence. They had the tools for the job and the expertise to complete it. On the first day they sanded twice and applied a Dark Walnut stain. The following day they applied 3 coats of a water based varnish with a satin finish. Then boom. Finished. They even covered my TV, entertainment system, & kitchen with plastic to prevent dust from covering everything. I was also pleasantly surprised to realize they refinished the small ledge on my front door that leads to the hallway. The floors look fantastic. I will share pictures as soon as I have my baseboard and trim installed. I had Michael did some engineered hardwood floor refinishing a couple of months ago and then installed new engineered hardwood floor recently. The work is excellent and his team is always on time. During my initial contractor searching stage, Michael had always been professional and responsive. I've also looked at other Yelpers' reviews and pictures and everything turned out to be positive. He also made my condo remodeling application (for new floor installation) easy by getting all documents really fast. Most important thing is always the quality of the work. Fine, but would not recommend. We had Unique sand & stain our hardwood floors this past January. There are still many swirl marks in our floors, and areas with other large sanding marks that were not smoothed out. Unique tried to make things better by giving us a discount-- while we appreciated it, we would have rather have had the floors done correctly, as there are still many visible swirl marks from an edge sander. read more
