Dr. Yu has been my dentist for about 5 years. The office is nicely decorated and it gives a relaxed feeling. Dr. Yu is very caring that he attends to all of my questions about my dental needs and the works needs to be done. Dr. Yu had done a bone graft and implant for me. He explained clearly and answered all my questions throughout the process. I learned a lot about bone grafts from Dr. Yu. Dr. Yu has the state of the art equipment right in the office that he uses to make the crown on the same day visit, and this eliminates the need for a second appointment to come back for the crowning. On my visit for the crowning, it was awesome that Dr. Yu had let me watch when he operated the machine to mold and drill the crown. It was awesome to see how the crown was made. I had my regular teeth cleaning done by Dr. Le. Dr. Le is very gentle that I did not feel any discomfort at all. The staff in front office are professional, nice and friendly. I'm so thankful I found Dr. Yu and his staff. My usual dentist unfortunately is sold his practice a couple of years ago. Since I had already been going that that dental office since I was in middle school, I decided to continue going to that office after my dentist had left. GAH, worst mistake ever!! I had a few fillings that needed to be done and I must say hands down that's been the worst experience I've ever had at the dentist (and I enjoy going to the dentist). My experience was sooooooooooooooo bad that I completely stopped going to the dentist all together. That was it, I was done. I refused to give any other dentist a chance as I've already given two dentists, in the same office might I add, a chance and in the end both were not effective. That was more than enough for me to call it quits. Despite my efforts of keeping further cavities from developing, about a year and a half had gone by when I started to notice increasing pain while eating or when drinking something cold. I had dreaded this day... the day when I really needed to find a new dentist. I had heard of Dr. Yu from a friend shortly after leaving the previous dental office but had put off seeing him because I was THAT traumatized. However the pain was getting worse so after much research and deliberating, I decided that I would give Dr. Yu a try. Annnnnnnnnd I'm sooo glad I did. The front office staff - Sonia, Alice and Cyndi - had be so warm and inviting from the moment I entered the office until I left the office. They're also very knowledgable too! The dental assistant - Marlena - also very kind and knowledgeable. (There's also a guy but I didn't have too much interaction with him) Dr. Le - She did gave me lots of feedback on how I did with my oral hygiene as she was cleaning my teeth. She also gave me very useful tips to maintain that fresh feeling all the time at home. She was very warm and a pleasure to talk to. Dr. Yu - He is quite knowledgable and very, very thorough. I've never had someone do as much research and data collection about my mouth as I've seen Dr. Yu do. During my consultation, he was patient with me, taking time to listen to my concerns. He discussed his findings and observations of my teeth and gums with me in detail ensuring that I understood what he was saying. Dr. Yu allowed me to participate in my plan of care (where the other dentist didn't) which I really appreciate. I came to Dr. Yu's office when I was experiencing severe pain due to an infected wisdom tooth while up in the San Jose area for work. Not only did the staff and Dr. Yu fit me into their already full schedule the same day that I called, they were also very caring, informative, and helpful throughout my whole visit. I am so thankful that Dr. Yu could fit me into his busy schedule and still provide some of the best dental care I have received. He was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable at all times while performing the procedure of removing fluid from the infected wisdom tooth. The dental hygienist assisted me within 10 minutes of my arrival and immediately took X rays for Dr. Yu who saw me 10 short minutes later despite the fact that I was fit in between patients on very short notice. The front staff was very helpful in explaining my insurance benefits and what would be covered. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially being out of town and away from my primary dentist. If I was living in this area I would be sure to make Dr. Yu my dentist. Never being this joyful at a dentist's office! I had a couple of dental questions and would like to obtain a second opinion. I was referred to Dr. Yu by my friend. Dr. Yu did a thorough exam and took ex-rays of all my teeth and discovered that one of my teeth actually had a really bad infection and required immediate care. He took me back after two days on a Friday to take care of my tooth problem, which was outside of his normal working hours. Dr. Yu went through the steps with me and provided me with a mirror to look at it myself at the process. The work was done smoothly and without any pain. Cyndi, Alice and Sonia at the front desk are always very friendly and helpful. They make you feel comfortable and relaxed all the time. I have been laughing a lot when talking to them, not to mention that they offer you all kinds of drinks (wine is coming?) and movies! I only have great things to say about Dr. Yu and his amazing team. The team not only provides excellent customer service and care for their patients, but they're also so organized and on top of their game. Dr. Yu made me my night guard and you can definitely tell that he put in a lot of time and effort to make it perfect, just for me. During the process of making the night guard, he consistently kept checking with me to make sure everything fit comfortably and that the bite was accurate. I also come here for my regular 6 months teeth cleanings and I usually see Carol and she never fails to impress me. She does a fantastic job with making sure my teeth are white and sparkly by the end of my visit. I was overwhelming impressed with results of my implant as well as the overall office experience, passion and knowledge the whole team has. Dr. Yu has been my primary dentist since I was in elementary school, which means my family and extended family have been with Dr. Yu for about 10+ years. Dr. Yu and his staff have seen me grow through acne, braces, bad identity choices, college decisions, significant life events, etc. It almost feels wrong to write a review at this point because they feel like family. But the reason why I'm writing this review, and why they so rightfully deserve this million-star review is because I didn't realize how absolutely amazing Dr. Yu and his team were until I had to go somewhere else. I graduated this past year, landed my first job, and turned 23, all of which made me ineligible for my parent's health insurance. On my last annual clean-up with Dr. Yu, we discovered that I had a large cavity that required a root canal. Yikes. My new health insurance made it too expensive for me to continue going to Dr. Yu, so I went and found a dentist in San Francisco in my plan. The stark difference between my new dentist and Dr. Yu highlighted the absolute professionalism and experience of Dr. Yu's team - Carol, Tiffany, Brenda, Carol, and all - from handling my appointment, insurance, to the attention to detail and perfectionism in the actual cleanings and dental procedures. Dr. Yu also takes the time to walk you through all your questions and is great at articulating all the options, and makes you feel comfortable with the options you choose. My new dentist makes me feel like I'm going to the mechanic. Even after I was no longer his patient, he was generous enough to check in on my root canal - I was nervous that the other dentist did a shoddy job and that I had an infection - for free. That's the definition of great service. All my life, I've declared numerous times that I was never succumbing to the standards of our patriarchal culture, and, therefore, was never getting married (sorry Mom).
