No doctors was available overnight, wait times on the website is laughable at best. Too bad staff and management doesn't have to come in as a regular patient with no special needs. I wonder how they would find the situation. please avoid Rockyview as much as possible.

They released me and then my heart started to fail so another ambulance ride unfortunately brought me to Rockyview. One of the doctors asked me if I was a smoker and I told him that I smoke one pack per year but not every year, and since I got so sick I'm never touching a cigarette again. Well he decided to gossip about me to the nurses at emerg and since they were grouped right outside my room with the door open I could here them exclaim "Oh my God she's a SMOKER?!" And they all treated me like shit after, refusing to make eye contact, being rough when touching me and giving a bad attitude when talking to me. One of them almost got vomit on them because he refused to hand me a puke bowl when I asked he said "For what?!" As if I was asking for no reason. Heart failure can also come with really bad nausea just FYI. This is 2025 and people in North America are literally doing the nazi salute and goose stepping over human rights but IM THE VILLAIN because I smoke sometimes? What about people who smoke everyday, every year?! How are they going to be treated? I find it absolutely disgusting that Rockyview staff treat people differently based on their personal opinions. Well they decided a filthy smoker doesn't deserve respect so they threw out my green sleeve from foothills. That information is now lost thanks to the judgemental douchebags at emerg. I wish this was the end of my rant but this is Rockyview so ofc the bullshit continues, they transferred me to unit 71 where one of the receptionists who has never met me or even seen what I look like decided to have a personal Vendetta against me, she constantly paged my hospital bed for staff "Alex to the front desk please. Alex to the front desk." EXCUSE ME MISS BUT ALEX IS NOT IN MY BED and it's hard to sleep with a speaker blaring right in your face so I tried telling HCA and nurses that she keeps paging my bed but no one believed me because it's never happened before so the nurses resorted to gaslighting me "maybe your just hearing things." And "maybe it's coming from somewhere else." Sweetie, it's a speaker that is right in front of my face and it vibrates when someone talks through it. I tried telling them I can hear her page my roommates bed before she pages mine and it only happens when she's on shift, no other receptionists were paging my bed. Finally one of the nurses gave me the benefit of a doubt and taped a pad over the speaker and silence was bliss. But not for long though because why not put someone with heart failure in the same room as a lunatic, cutting up her diaper first thing in the morning and then screaming as loud as possible "NOOOO GO AWAY! SHUT UP! GIVE ME MY KNIFE BACK! I WAS WORKING ON THAT FOR TWO HOURS!" or spending her days angrily commanding me to turn the sun off and yelling louder when I obviously couldn't. She had to make every day and night miserable for everyone, especially the staff, I felt bad some of the nurses in 71 were really nice but got zero respect from her. Speaking of which one didn't take me seriously when I asked for a sponge bath, I know it's not a pleasant thing to do but I wouldn't be asking if I was able to shower, but she made me shower and guess what happened? Couldn't see, felt sick, vomitted at some point and passed out. I came to in the bottom of the shower, naked ofc and this nurse looked at me with disgust and audibly said "ugh!" Like ok I know I'm not pretty to look at but can you keep your bullshit to yourself I literally have heart failure and the warmth and steam made me collapse. I really hope my heart doesn't give out and I get sent back to this hospital. Foothills or Peter Lougheed please, I don't appreciate being at the mercy of such judgmental opinionated staff.

Normally I am a very patient person but I wanted to passed out. So I told heR I can't breathe and I need help. That was the only time she put the phone down. They took me in and let me say down for 30 min while I was struggling to breathe. Finally the RT came to help me with different puffs that didn't seem to work on my condition. But she was compassionate and kind. I was moved to a bed. The young nurse was kind. Another RT respiratory therapist came. Reason I am giving this hospital a star at all was for the RT. After 3 hours with no improvement on my lung funCtion but because my "vitals " were normal Dr Allison Foran insisted on discharging me for the reason that my vitals were normal. Nobody even counted my Respiratory rate since I came in. I was in moderate respiratory distress and she thinks the computer vitals is good enough to discharge me with my wheezing audible without using a stethoscope. I am a doctor too in my country. And we do not let a patient go with wheezes who can crash on his way out of our hospital . The only person who waNted me to stay was the respiratory therapist. Dr Foran you better review your books again and use your better judgement. You have a long way to go and patient care lives in the heart. Being a doctor is a privilege to help because you know better. It is not an authority to use because your protocol says so. I have Not slept because my wheezes has not stopped but I am better at home than there when I know my doctor does not care but to empty a bed. When I come back I am pretty sure I will request for another doctor. Your nurses need to know why they serve too. Nobody even gave me a blanket and I was shivering. My dentist calls me every 4 months for a cleaning or checkup. When was the last time I had a blood test.?... 10 years! I know many have adequate medical care through established family practices via standard health care, but some don't. I did not. I think I knew something was not right and when I couldn't arrange a standard medical exam through my MD (after 1 year of trying and two misconnects) then I signed up for Copeman. After the intake questions and battery of exams and tests, it was found that essentially everything was off the charts. I was actually in pretty bad shape. Fortunately things were found early enough, I received some expert advice, and was able to get some lifestyle choices turned around before it was too late. The actual facility is centrally located, has easy off-street parking with nice (modern and clean!) offices and waiting room. There are nutritionists, physiotherapists, exercise kinesiologists, nurses, lab staff and counsellors available, but most importantly, physicians who actually take their hand off of the door handle when they talk to you. For lab tests, samples are all taken on site. This is the way health care should be. It is not luxurious, unless you compare it to the standard squalid waiting rooms at physicians' offices, usually located in dilapidated medical buildings with antique furnishings and equipment from the 60s. How we have come to accept the current state as acceptable is bewildering to me. While I feel a twinge of liberal guilt about the whole thing, this is a complicated issue with no easy answers. I was not willing to die waiting for politicians and government to figure it out. At $4K/ first year and $2.5K/year following (there are also family plans), it is certainly not for everyone. I am a supporter, and while this kind of service is not the answer to our current delivery problems, it just might be part of the solution.

She had booked an appointment at this clinic in advance and to my surprise, was able to see someone within a few weeks. Upon arrival, my client checked in and we waited. I spotted a sign on the wall that encourages patients to notify front reception if they've waited for more than 30min. I'm glad they have this sign because after waiting this long, at least my client felt justified to complain. I watched everyone else in the waiting room come and go, so I'm not sure what happened there. I liked that music was playing and there are nice photos of some of the physicians on display. I sat in on part of the meeting between my client and the doctor, who was rather lovely. She was soft spoken and friendly. To my surprise, the doctor informed us that the clinic does not provide referrals. My client had specifically asked that question on the phone when booking the appointment and she was told otherwise. At least my client was able to get some important tests done and felt good afterward about being able to express her concerns without being brushed off.
