I had a mysterious grinding noise emanating from my car that my old mechanic couldn't diagnose before I moved out of the area. I ignored it for awhile out of fear it was going to be some sort of huge and costly mechanical procedure. But finally out of fear for my life I decided I had to deal with it. I looked on Yelp and based on the good reviews decided to make an appointment to bring my 2001 Toyota Camry in. Of all the repairs he's done on my car, none of the problems has ever returned--he fixes it reliably the first time. His prices are far more reasonable than any other mechanic I've visited, and when I can do something easily myself, or the repair isn't worth making, he'll tell me. Honest mechanic who does great work. Specialist in Japanese, especially Honda, Toyota. Know that you can take your car here and not get ripped off on price or quality of service. I drive well out of my way to bring my vehicles here. V bought the business from Peter and now owns and runs the shop. The shop is nothing to look at for sure and has no curb appeal. I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied from my experience here. All I needed was to replace my driver side mirror on my car. I was told there was not an opening for my repair until the next week (I was fine with that since the reviews seemed like this place did great business and figured it was due to lots customers.) I show up on my appointment on Wednesday and I'm told that the part will not come in until Friday. I'm not sure why I had to show up to be told that they cannot repair my car that day, but that was still fine. When I show up on Friday, I'm now told that his vendor cannot bring him the part by the end of the day and I will have to come in on Monday. At this point I'm pissed and looking for anyone else to help me, but no one in the area offered to do the job for as low as he did so I gave him one more chance. When I show up on Monday, not only does he tell me he has the passenger side mirror, it's for the wrong model all together. At that point I decided I was done being jerked around and I would get the work done somewhere else. read more

I've been going to Peter's for about three years. I love that outside, it looks like a funky, "Old Berkeley" shop that hasn't changed since the 70s. But V's equipment and service is totally up-to-date. He's excellent at trouble-shooting, and I trust him to not sell me services I don't need.
