Replaced tire pressure monitor sensor (TPMS)
    Darryl D.

I took my car in to have one of my TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensor) checked out due to the sensor not communicating with the on board computer. Once they diagnosed the problem they replaced one bad sensor. When it came time to pay the bill they tried to charge me $415.00. When, I asked them WTH, I could have gone Weatherford BMW and got the sensor replaced for half the cost. The sensor was only $138.00. The time it took to dismount tire replace the sensor, remount and road test that shouldn't take more than an hour. They tried to tell that the job took more time than usual. When I confronted them on the time and labor rate charges they quickly changed the invoice to a more acceptable charge. So the first invoice was $415 / the revised invoice was $268. I will never take my car back to Berkekey Motor Works. If, I hadn't questioned them about the over inflated charges they would have been happy with over charging me. I wonder how many other customers have they've done this too especially women customers.

Mike and Scott are an amazing team! I brought in my car for a routine oil change and asked them to check out the leaking coolant issue, which started up again. I didn't receive a lecture or a raised eyebrow, but felt supported by their interest in locating the problem. And they did! What more can you ask for? Moreover, Mike provided a loaner vehicle while my car remained at the shop for a few days. What more can any customer ask for--exceptional service, well-articulated explanation of the problem areas, friendly and approachable owners. I'm in good hands with Berkeley Motor Works!

You might as well go to the stealership. Parts are full list (eg spark plug $22 vs $5-8 online), labor rate $128.

Great service! Fast and affordable. I used to get my car serviced at the dealership, but have found AMW as a superior alternative.

Part of what Oil Changers proposes to offer is to check all fluid levels and to top off, to check brake lights, belts, signals, head lights and air filter, to clean the windshield and check tire air pressure. This is exactly what my old mechanic used to do before he retired. Too often, though, they skip many or all of these tasks. I could understand that this might happen if they were super busy but it often happens when they're slow. More importantly, when you get your invoice, these items are checked off as if they've been performed when they have not. Honestly, this does not give me the feeling of being well taken care of but leaves a taste of deception in my mouth even if the basic task of changing the oil and filter has been performed correctly. I leave wondering what else might have been missed through inattention. I have no problem in general with the folks that work there, they're always welcoming and friendly. If it's too much to ask of them to do these basic safety and maintenance checks maybe it shouldn't be asked of them and maybe it shouldn't be printed out on the bill that these tasks are required and have been performed. I really hope this is something that can be addressed.

When I dropped off my car, I was told it would be ready around 12:30-1:00 p.m. and that I'd receive a call when it was done. I decided to stick around the area. At 1:00 p.m., after waiting two hours, I walked back to check on the status and found that they hadn't even started working on my car. When I told them I was leaving, the employee suddenly asked if I could wait another 10-15 minutes because he could "start it now". So frustrating. My scheduled appointment meant absolutely nothing until I complained and I was not interested in a rushed oil change... If your business can't honor appointment times, don't offer appointments. Respect your customers' time. I would not recommend taking your business here. I certainly won't be back.

Upon Googling the ,' Nearest Location to Albany ' - I found a Store in El Cerrito near to Central Avenue on San Pablo Avenue about 3 weeks Ago. Mr. Paul , the Store Manager, was Polite on the Fone - Informing me that he could handle my request the same day if I reached there within about 30 minutes which I did. Upon arriving- I was greeted by Mr. Mirani who seemed an old hand @ the Trade having owned a Midas Store himself in the Past. S..o..o I decided to sign ' The Work Order '. I may've reached the store around 1:30 - 2p.m.'ish. Was informed there would be a wait as they had other vehicles ahead of me.
