When I asked if that was the only issue, they told me I had to buy a new battery first before they could tell what was really wrong. They quoted $630.10 for a battery, diagnostics, and labor. I told them I'd buy my own battery because it felt like they were trying to get money out of me. Then they suddenly told the warranty company they "heard engine ticking" and needed authorization to remove the valve cover. I declined because it felt dishonest. I picked up my car and took it to Dodge--Dodge immediately found the real problem. They confirmed the battery was low, but said that wasn't causing my issues. So I paid $180 for a bogus diagnostic. When I told the owner I'd report them, he agreed to refund half. But when I arrived, he avoided speaking to me even though he was clearly there. This shop is not honest and absolutely wasted my time and money.

When I had a major transmission job done there in 2008, it was quoted at one price...and then things just kept getting added to the work order. Of course once the car is taken apart you are a bit over a barrel. What are you going to do? Ask for someone else to come in and inspect the new quote? The original quote was for $1500 and I ended up paying close to $4K for all the work. That really hurt and I felt that I didn't really get treated fairly. Fast forward to 2010 and I take another vehicle back in. I felt like the car was way overquoted, but since it wouldn't pass smog--I just got rid of it. That deal ended up being fine, but it didn't help with the "feeling" I had about the direction the shop was going. I went onto Yelp today since I had a GREAT experience with another local mechanic to see what others have been saying about this shop. Looks like I'm not the only one who has been felt like they were ripped off. Glad that I didn't go back for the recent work I needed done. There are plenty of other shops in the area. Check reviews on other sites as well and see what the majority have to say before you make your decision. Car repairs are too expensive to put up with this type of service.
