We went in to get some desserts. We have been here multiple times and the food and baked goods never disappoints. From their amazing bratwurst to their cookies you can't go wrong. Yes Please!!! Visiting family in El Paso & decided to stop in & so happy we did. My husband & FIL had the bratwurst, son had Wiener on a roll & I had the Hawaiian Schnitzel. They all enjoyed their food & oh so did I. The inside is small but their is also some sidewalk seating too. The one man that was working there was super nice. I had heard their chocolate cake is amazing so I ordered a 3 layer round of chocolate cake for my husband's birthday. I also ordered #9 and two #11. 5 types of German beer and $100 later went home to enjoy the meal. We sang our happy birthdays and cut into the cake and discovered it was not what I ordered. Not a chocolate cake but black forest. It was ok but not a fan of cherries. The schnitzel was ok and the sausage was ok too. So I've always wanted to try this German place out since I regularly drive by. I stopped by to get some sausages and buns for a BBQ party and the lunch specials were too good to pass up. This is the fried schnitzel with mushroom sauce and German potato salad. I used the freshly baked bread to mop up every bit of that delicious gravy. I heard him pound out the meat in the back to make it and I'm glad there's a place that makes fresh schnitzel because I hate having to flatten it myself. Authentic German eats... that's all you need to know. Peter's is a no frills kind of place with the classics. Oh and they have a small selection of German foodstuffs (I levitated to the Contessa cookies #noshame). I've tried the brats and the jagerschnitzel. Both were good and I'd definitely order them again. The price was beyond reasonable and they're set up on Eat24 so you can totally order ahead of time. Even with it being a no frills place, it feels very homely. The owner is a great guy and hosts a few different German themed events around the city (he has a dance class once a week in a local bar, I believe). Next time I'm there I really want to try the cakes (which also were at a great price). This is the only German spot I'm aware of on the Westside and the only place outside of World Market that you can pick up Contessa cookies. Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. read more

My goodness! It has a little German shopping mart in it! I know it says bakery and I'm supposed to be talking about a bakery, but honestly, I didn't see a lot of baked things. There was a space on the wall, like a good sized space dedicated to cookies and sweet things. There were some loaves of rye bread on a table in front of the cash register. Buuuut... there was a very nice menu with a large selection of cakes and delectables on the back, that you order one day in advance if you want them! The really good kind of cakes. Ok now for my visit. I was really hungry after fishing in ascarate lake and not catching anything( it's called fishing... not catching) and there's a menu on the door with plates of food you can order. The reason I give four stars is because I wanted schnitzel and all they had was brats. 4 stars... the brats are excellent! They are moist but not so juicy that you are constantly grabbing your napkin. And sauerkraut is optional( yes please!). They have red cabbage or potato salad as sides. Yummy! Haven't seen red cabbage since Germany! Ok, best part. The food was great but the little market against the wall... you have to go! And they also have the GOOD German beer in the refrigerator case. I will let the contents of the market be a surprise except for this: the mustard in the little beer mug! Definitely go! Get some food, do some shopping! read more

Once we finally tried this place, it's one of our regular places to eat. It's small with a couple outside tables and ~5 tables inside. The owner, who also happens to be the chef and baker makes your food to order. You. An hear him pounding your pork after taking your order. He has specials everyday he's open. They are closed Sundays. The desserts, rolls & pretzels are freshly made each day. I'm extremely partial to his desserts and think they are the best in El Paso! His food is authentic German and outstanding! He's located in a small plaza off of Shadow Mountain. If you're in the area, give Peter's a try, you won't be disappointed. He also has shelves of authentic German foods that you cannot purchase in the local grocery stores. We've purchased pickles and mustard. Why did it take me so long to come here!?! This place is awesome! It's a cute little place run by a quiet but sweet guy. He's a one man show which makes this place so much more amazing! We walked in on Saturday and he was just pulling pastries out of the oven. The place smelled incredible! We both ordered the daily special; one with lemon slices and the other with a mushroom gravy. Both were very very tasty! I didn't care for the potato salad as it was somewhat sweet but whatever.....the schnitzel, bratwurst and the bread was delicious. Not that it needs it but there are several toppings and like six different types of mustard that I'll try next time. And by next time, I mean tomorrow when I take advantage of the Monday special lol. Amazing home cooked German food! Was so happy to visit and try this place while in el paso

Unfortunately, my overall experience was very disappointing! I have been to Peter's twice since I live nearby. During both visits the service was poor and staff not very friendly (dinner time). This was despite the fact that there were few to no customers present. I did enjoy the deserts during the first vist though. Yet, during the second visit, I was shocked seeing Peter leave his computer, serve me, and grab bread rolls with his unwashed bare hands. I spoke up about this and he did not apologize but appeared defensive. I ordered two Bratwurst which were semi-warm not hot. Also, both were taken from a warmer and not fresh from a grill. The potato salad was bland. I also tried a Pretzel and it did not taste fresh. Furthermore, it was spendy and cost me about $17.50 for this poor venture! This is unfortunate as I was anticipating a better experience! I am not originally from El Paso and am comparing this experience to others outside the area. read more

I knew this Bakery existed in different locations before and I'm glad I found it again. Peter himself will greet you as soon as you walk in the door to this small restaurant. There are German products including chocolates and candy you can purchase. I went in for some pastries and I'm glad I did, I left with some very soft marzipan almond horns and a slice of poppy seed cake. I also got two freshly baked pretzels that were delicious!
