Our sidewalk compliance wasn't completed with certificate in hand until the end of September. The actual "doing" of the sidewalk only took one day + drying time. But, the scheduling took several rounds of back and forth emails + eventually my spouse calling. Did it get done eventually? Yes. If we were selling and not playing catchup after buying a house pre-market would this timeline have been acceptable to us? Probably not. What broke on the backend? I don't know. Was it delayed because it was a "small" (5k) job? Was it just the season? Who knows. If scheduling for this portion of the business is a ritual problem for them, why not consider a platform like jobber to keep the bids all organized? Anyway, it is done. And that's unfortunately the best thing one can say about this.

When I saw the nails sticking out of our ceiling, stopped the work, and called him, the contractor said I didn't tell him we had an open beam ceiling, so it was my fault. First, I did tell him. Second, the contractor is supposed to check for that kind of thing, and not rely on a homeowner knowing what to warn him about. Third, laborers have to know how to locate framing and hit it when they nail sheathing. Where nails missed in many places they just went into sheetrock, not wood. I've also found that the room with the open beam ceiling gets much hotter in the summer than it did when it was covered with silver cedar shakes, which reflected and insulated better than dark asphalt shingles. A friend commented that a good roofer would have recommended insulation board under the new shingles over an open beam ceiling, instead of plywood. I think the problems were mainly due to a lack of attention from the contractor and foreman. The lack of attention and inexperienced crew was because they were over extended, with too many concurrent jobs. I'm sorry, I really don't like writing negative reviews, but incorrect work was done in several aspects of this job, and the contractor blamed me for their mistakes. People should know that.

He checked all operations of the furnace and general maintenance; the components; amp draws and electrical. Jesus was very thorough and did several tests on the heater; replaced the filter and checked the thermostat. He was so professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything to me.
