I was scheduled for an estimate, and Mike D. came and evaluated my HVAC/AC and Water heater. I chose to hire them because of their years in the business. Castro Valley is a small town, and I wanted to hire local. They were responsive, and everyone who worked at my home was professional and thoughtful. They had my dual systems and installed a water heater in days. I am waiting for my county inspection and one small repair. I expect everything will be great. Two days ago I had an appointment with B A Morrison to do a complete furnace check. Jesus arrived right on time and explained what he would be doing during the appointment. He checked all operations of the furnace and general maintenance; the components; amp draws and electrical. Jesus was very thorough and did several tests on the heater; replaced the filter and checked the thermostat. He was so professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything to me. I was completely confident with the job he did. B A Morrison did the original installation of the heating system in 2006, and also installed a new thermostat in 2022. 11/06/24. This is the fourth project that B.A. Morrison has done on my residence. Construction Supervisor Dylan's supervision was truly impressive, tending to every detail: staffing, supplies, oversight, coordination with the county inspector, and many other tasks. He was patient, communicative, flexible, and visited the job site personally usually twice a day. Carl, the principal workman on the project, cannot be commended highly enough. Carl's range of experience in every phase of this project was nothing short of remarkable, whether it was plumbing, tiling, painting, or any other task. There was no problem that Carl could not solve out of his extensive experience. He was knowledgeable, efficient, fast, and helpful above and beyond, accommodating, and displaying a remarkable attention to detail. He took great pride in his work. Nelson, Miguel, and Ivan too were efficient and hard working. They kept the job site clean after each day's work, and arrived punctually at the start of each day's work. Punctuality is a rare quality these days, but every day, like clockwork, the B.A. Morrison truck(s) pulled up just as my clock was chiming 8 a.m.! We had an excellent experience with BA Morrison. We called to have someone check out our furnace that seemed to be having an intermittent issue with the blower. Within a few days, Roger came right on time. He took care of the furnace issue, evaluated the A/C Unit. His explanations about the problem and the fix were easy to understand. Called in Oct/Nov2020 to schedule a quote for a complete hvac replacement. Being local and rated well I figured they'd be a good fit. When arranging a time for a quote I was told they're extremely busy and it would be at least two weeks before they could get to me for a quote. No problem, gave my information and address, set a time for two weeks. No call, no show. Called to follow up, calls went unanswered and voicemails unreturned. Communication is key to me. read more

i used B.A. services in 2018 which went well. i called them back to get an additional split unit installed in October, but i never got a call back or follow up quote; i called into the offices to speak to the rep, but i never got a call back. it's pretty disappointing, but they got money out of me a few years ago, so maybe they don't need my business anymore. time to move on and find another vendor. read more

We had PG&E come out & do some maintenance on our gas line. They found a small leak on an antiquated, ancient gate valve. They said we had to hire someone to fix it. Our go to company is B.A. Morrison. Gave them a call, was quoted a price & the next day we had someone stop by and assess the problem. Shortly after a affable, no nonsense guy named Carl came back & said he'd have it done in less than an hour. 40 minutes later he had valve replaced & lighted the water heater pilot light. They don't like fixing older furnaces and just want to overcharge for new systems. I decided to try them because they were my neighbor when I lived in Castro Valley. They told me they could not get a gas valve, I found one but it was over $400. They stated that the burners were corroded. Check out this casting looks fine to me. So I offered them to fix the furnace with the gas valve, no call back. I purchased a furnace offered them to install it, no call back. There goal is to get their techs to as many addresses as possible to bill $145 for doing nothing. They are a lousy contractor and I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I have used BA Morrison over the last 20 years for all of my heating and air conditioning work. They do excellent work, have conscientious employees and charge reasonable prices. They are also general contractors. Recently, I noticed I had a major underground water leak losing about 100 gallons a day. I was afraid the source was a water main leak somewhere below 150 feet of a newly installed concrete driveway between the main and the house. They responded quickly and pinpointed the source of the leak to landscape piping. They also replaced water shut off valves to the house and garden with easy and effective ball valves. All of this was done quickly and at a reasonable price. I give them my highest recommendation and intend to use them in the future for all of my general contracting needs. Don't Do it! GO UNION or you will regret it! paid these guys $10k for full AC install two years ago and have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS ever since. Have run the system (maybe) 25-30 nights at the most. The first time was for an A/C unit we installed for our house that never had air before and the second was for a leaking pipe from an out-of-commission sprinkler system. We got our home's original 50yo furnace replaced by BA Morrison earlier this winter and it has made a WORLD of difference. We were referred by relatives and we couldn't have had a better recommendation. Joe came out for our quote and was professional, friendly, and honest. He didn't try to upsell us; we just said that we needed a new heater to fit in the same space and he knew the model that would fit there. He emailed our quote within a few hours (fair and great price, and they don't outsource contractors/labor like most other companies, it's all their own workers) and were booked for the next opening. Robert and assistant Sam came on installation day and didn't disappoint. They were courteous and worked hard all day on removing the old furnace and setting up the new one. They were neat, cleaned up, and explained everything: how the new furnace operated, new filters to buy, showing the new vent and sealing, explaining the new thermostat. Their work was high quality and they took care each step of the way. Our new heater works like a jewel, no comparison to the old one that was barely functioning. In the cold of winter, 5 days before thanksgiving, our furnace went out due to power surge. Contacted about 7 service companies and most could not look at until after holiday and several did not even respond due to peak season. Contacted BA Morrison (who I've used in past) and they also were fully booked, but explained we had an elderly family member we care for and really need heat. They said they will see if they can squeeze us in between appts next day. Received call around 1pm they were on the way. Ken & Sam arrived at 1:10pm and were done by 1:30pm and heat was back on. Ken methodically diagnoised problem and after replacing transformer, he tested all other functions and even cleaned of ignitor to assure good clean burn. They also use fixed book pricing so don't have to worry about gouging. Great job! read more

Replaced an old central air system and added air conditioning. We had one quote from an "acquaintance" that took almost a month to receive. We knew it was going to be a sizable expense so I called BA Morrison for a second quote. The day I called, Mike said he could come by the house, and he did. Our service experience: Prompt. Efficient. Honest. Cold day, heater died. Called BAM (B.A. Morrison), left message. Bam! 30 minutes later showed up. Bam! 5 minutes later problem fixed. Admittedly, a simple problem and maybe they were in the area, but promptness and professionalism should be saluted. Technician, Mr. Bent, was knowledgeable, personable, efficient and thorough. When it comes to service contractors that work on essential equipment in emergency situations, there are some wolves out there (ambulance chasers). Very poor communication/customer service within their office. Offered me an appointment by email, I changed my schedule around to make the offered appointment work, then I responded the same day to be told my appointment was given away. If you're in the business of racing to fill your schedule with appointments offered to others, perhaps phone calls would be a better way to schedule to establish good customer service. As I suggested this to Mike Morrison (owner?), he was defensive and abrasive when he spoke with me over the phone ("I've been doing this for many years. We do our scheduling how we want to"), and based on previous reviews, you're likely to see another defensive response here. It was a small job so it's not surprising the appointment likely went to a larger job. Stopped by 2 days ago and asked for a quote on a new gas line and electrical service for a gas fireplace insert....the guy took my name, address, and phone number, then checked his schedule and booked an appointment at my house for the next day after 1pm for a real quote and stated he would call first before showing up. So far so good. However....Wednesday. no show, no call so after 5pm I send an email asking if he forgot me. Thursday I get an email asking the particulars of the appointment and respond. Home depo sent another local contractor who promptly came out, estimated the job and gave me a bid on the work that proposed various options as wells delivery dates. I called Morrison several times feeling that I am obliged give the local company a chance to bid. I never spoke to anyone but the receptionist . These guys have come to my rescue many times. They are skilled enough to have ideas for most needs and if the issue is not in their wheelhouse they probably can guide you to a solution. The reason for four stars vs five is simply that the finishing work could be refined, not bad but could be better. Case in point: a recent project needed a small external door. When BA finished the hinges and knob for the door were of poor material. To me, a business is only as good as its weakest link. If the business accepts poor/cheap material it begs the question what might be happening on things you are not aware of. Though I am not aware of any other cut corners it does concern me. read more

The service was great back then. Professional people offering services as promised at a fair price. I called BA Morrison earlier this week to schedule a repair of the AC unit. Today, Roger was dispatched and called me ahead of time when he was arriving. He wore a mask and booties and took him only a short time to diagnose the problem. My AC was working again within the hour. Again, I've had nothing but a positive experience with this company. I am so appreciating this company right now! Originally there was a technician who came out to test my AC during the summer who had left the unit not fully put back together. Needless to say, that technician is no longer with the company and when I called BA Morrison to come out and double check the work and put things back to the original condition, they took full responsibility and was on top of it! The manager, Jim, made an appointment for me right away and had this super friendly and knowledgeable technician come out named Antonio, to clean up what was left undone. Antonio really knows what he is doing and I'm so grateful. He found out what the issue actually was and now my AC unit works again. This is the first time I have used them. My previous company abandoned our community without notice, leaving me with broken air conditioning (outdoor compressor) which went out on the hottest day of the year (of course). They installed it 4 years ago but were not interested in servicing it. The Morrison folks went out of their way to schedule a convenient appointment and gave me a 2-hour window. The tech who came (on time) was cheerful, professional, and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem in 2 minutes, and it was luckily something small that could be quickly fixed with a replacement (burnt out capacitor). He also checked air flow on our inside vents, a nice touch, as well as making sure that the components in the compressor were not drawing too much juice, which could have caused the capacitor to fry again. In addition, I appreciated that he and his company did not try to push additional services or upsell me, which my previous company had tried on one especially harried day. I am now a very satisfied customer of BA Morrison, and if I am unlucky enough to have problems with my heating or AC, I will certainly go to them. read more

I'm not familiar with this company's actual work ethics. This review is based solely on the fact that who ever had control of one of their work vans today, nearly crashed into my car while I was trying to get my daughters and myself home...SAFELY. This guy made it a chore to do that. He cut me off while we were on 880 north nearing the 580 interchange. Cut me off in a way that he didn't even have room for his van. I had to swerve my car into the next lane to keep him from hitting me. Thankfully there was a gap for me to do so as we were in traffic. In anger (obviously) I honked my horn behind him to let him know I was there and that he was in the wrong. All I got back from him was a small wave with his cigarette filled hand. Clearly he had no one else's wellbeing on his mind. And since it was nearing close of business he probably only had selfish intentions of getting himself no where near ahead of traffic. I try not to assume things about people, but in this case I think I have the right to. He really deserves an award for this one. #1. Driving recklessly in a company vehicle. #2. Smoking in a company vehicle. Shame on him and this company IF they allow employees to carry on this way. read more

We were having problem with our AC and called Morrison on the basis of his Yelp ratings. Unfortunately We had to cancel our first appointment because of a scheduling conflict and made another the following week which was the first available. Meanwhile we found another company that could come in sooner and fixed the problem. We called 72 hrs before the appointment with Jim to cancel. He hung up on me! When I called back and asked to speak to the owner because Jim's hanging up on me was not acceptable I got Jim on the phone again!!! Jim stated that 72 hrs was not enough time and that other people needed his help.This was totally rude and unprofessional! I hesitate to think how this person would act in my home. I would strongly suggest some kind of anger management/customer relations training for this company and its employees. read more

I'm a fan for sure! We had our new AC and furnace as well as an attic fan installed into our home. The work crew was friendly and hard at work from the minute they started to the minute they left. It took two days to complete the installation and we were very happy. Mike D. did a great job organizing everything and making our job go smooth. We didn't have to use the new system until a week later and ran into a small problem, but Mike and his team were right on top of it. They came out the same day and found that the fuse had not been changed to accomodate the newer furnace. The worker they sent was kind, courteous and quick about getting it done. There was one individual who was a little difficult to work with, but the two workers that actually did the work were fantastic and Mike D. really made us want to do business with his company. Okay, I gave this company a try and several chances since it was recommended by so many people but this has been my experience trying to get AC in my home. 1. called and requested an appt, nothing after several days of waiting 2. called again and they said that someone would get back to me. Gave up but several days later someone called back saying they could come by later that day. Great. 3. Arrived WITHOUT masks (hello we're in a pandemic) didn't offer to put covers over shoes. I don't wore shoes in the house. I've had 5 different HVAC companies come by and he was the ONLY one that didn't have face and shoe covering. 4. Said the estimate would arrive in a few days. 5. Waited over a week and got nothing so finally emailed him and said where is my estimate? 6. Said he wrote my name down wrong and sent it to the wrong email address and will tell someone to resend. I said ok. 7. 2 days go by and nothing. I emailed him again saying where is my estimate? Nothing. This is way too much work for me if you want my business.
