Peterson's Bakery came as a recommendation to me for their amazing donuts. I stopped in on a Saturday mid morning and they were still fully stocked with donuts, cookies, danishes, breads, and other sweet treats. They also had premade holiday cookie platters, cakes, gingerbread houses and more. I got a bavarian cream filled donut and cinnamon sugar twist. Both were so soft, fresh, and delicious! I loved the thicker bavarian cream filling and their chocolate frosting. The two donuts were just over $4 which was a steal! The woman who helped us was very sweet and made me smile. read more

Peterson's Tasty Delight Bakery in Hoffman Estates was a gem. This bakery had a good variety of baked goods to choose from. I came mostly for the donuts and I tried a couple of muffins based on a yelp recommendation. Service was fast and friendly. It looked like most of the orders were custom made and ready for pickup. The few pastries I had were fine. Some better than others. The glazed donut was alright, but the cake donut with the caramel frosting was so much better. I'm partial to apple pastries and I loved the apple danish. The blueberry muffin was good and I felt the lemon poppy seed muffin was a little strong on lemon flavor. Where Peterson's didn't cone through on taste, it made up for in variety. I would love to revisit this bakery to try other baked goods. read more

We have had cakes made here previously and they were delicious and timely. I emailed over images and a request for a birthday cake like I have previously. A few days later after I did not get a response I called and left a message. Then I called again..... finally I was connected with a very lovely employee who did not have access to the email to review the design. She did confirm my order and gave me a pickup time for Saturday. We decided on 3:30pm pickup and I arrived on Saturday to pick up my birthday cake. The doors are locked with a nice sign saying they closed at 12pm today for the holiday and will be gone until the next Thursday. WHY WAS MY PICKUP SCHEDULED AFTER YOU CLOSED? Why was I not contacted? I now have a crying 8yr old and a birthday party with no cake? VERY Disappointed! read more

I called a day prior to inquire if they had apple fritters We purchased several items to share Cheese Danish: far too sweet Strawberry Danish: the pastry was crusty (not in a good way) but the strawberry filling was good Pecan Danish: spot on Lemon Square: good flavor but entirely too much powdered sugar it was caked on & made a mess Sticky Bun: spot on Cheddar Jalapeño Bagel: delicious Apple Fritter the whole purpose of the visit and sadly the worst apple fritter I've ever eaten, not one piece of apple or even any apple flavor I was greeted by another customer, before I was greeted by any of the 3 ladies behind the counter. The bakery has quite a selection but there are no case labels so you have to keep asking what things are. I found it odd the woman waiting on me asked for my credit card before she gave me a total or even rang up the order. The interior is drab. There were more delights on the oven racks than in the display case so I couldn't get a feel for all the offerings, in fact as I was turning to leave I noticed something on a rack I would have tried if I had only seen it presented in the case. read more

Pastries were tasty so we decided to order the cake with half raspberry filling and half chocolate ganache. Everyone was raving about the tasty cake! The Best Bakery in the North West suburbs of Chicago. I lived in the area for over 31years before moving to AZ. We have been in Arizona for almost six years and I have been searching for a bakery that comes close to Peterson's. I have not found one yet. The bakeries that I have found in Arizona don't have danish sweet rolls. They don't have the same fillings. The Swedish flops are a special treat. Peterson's was a regular stop on my way home from church. If you enjoy fresh bakery goods and are in the Hoffman Estates area you should try them. They are on W Algonquin Road in Hoffman Estates. You can easily know that it is bakeries, cupcakes and bagels since there's a word " Bakery" in front of the stores. They have a parking lot in front of the store. If it is full you can park at the parking lot of the next store. I'm a regular customer here and I really like their baked foods. One of my favorites was their Almond Croissant with dipped chocolate end. It was very soft and chocolatey. Every bite I have I can taste the sweetness of the bread and I find it amazing and yummy. I can't get enough of this so every time I come here I order a box of it for take out. I really recommend this shop for you. They have the best bread. You will not be with this. Love this bakery so much! The cookies and cupcakes are amazing! We got custom sugar cookies for a bridal shower, I showed them a picture and they nailed it to a T! The taste of the cookies were also very good not too sweet and not hard, it melted in your mouth. We also got mini cupcakes which were raspberry and lemon frosting so yummy not too overpowering and the cake was very moist. The service is great, everyone is so kind and friendly! Do not order your wedding cake from here. I gave the inspo photo attached and ask for 1 layer only. I received the cake attached. The person who makes cakes is on vacation and cannot fix the cake in time. I ended up fixing it myself at home right before my wedding. I understand if the design was too advanced or they cannot do wedding cakes, but would have been ideal to know before being handed a cake that looked nothing like what we asked for. read more

Holy almond croissants!! They are huge and there is plenty of almond filling inside a nice, soft, flaky croissant. And an added bonus..... dipped chocolate ends!!! I saw them and couldn't resist sinking my teeth into it as soon as I got into my car. And it was massive enough for me to cut up and enjoy throughout a 2 day span. My only regret is that I didn't buy more, especially since my husband wanted to "try" some. The chocolate chip muffin was good as well, but the croissant was memorable... The place is a cute mom and pop shop, with lots of baked goods including breading, cakes, coffee cakes, and donuts. They also have a little coffee bar area. I had this place bookmarked for pastries, but someone mentioned they had great donuts. Decided to try both on Sunday, December 3rd around 10:45am. They had a line, but it moved rather fast, so we didn't have to wait long. I ended up getting half a dozen doughnuts: custard filled, cinnamon twist, raspberry filled, glazed raised, chocolate bar, vanilla iced cake. I tried most of the donuts and I liked the custard the best. The donut itself was a little denser than I prefer, but it had a good amount of filling. We also grabbed a Lemon square ($1.69), Whipped cream puff ($1.49), and a Mini eclair ($1.49). I enjoyed these the most out of everything we grabbed. Especially the eclair as it was filled with custard. Yum! We also grabbed a coffee cake. They only had about four flavors left, so we just grabbed the original. There were only two chocolate varieties and an apricot one left. Being from San Francisco, this resembled more of a giant danish than a coffee cake to me. But the roommate's cousin adores them, so we gave her the coffee cake after we tried it. In the end, we spent around $20 something for everything, which wasn't bad. I'm writing an update to mention their cakes are also fabulous! We were back in town for a visit and ordered a cake ahead of time for a special occasion. They require 24-hours advance notice for a custom cake, otherwise they have some ready to go that they can write something on quickly if you'd like. Everyone at the party raved about the cake and wanted to know where we got it from. The cake was so moist and the frosting was delish! Pro tip: if you want chocolate frosting, go with their Chocolate Fudge frosting, which is what they ice some of the donuts with...far superior to just the regular Chocolate Buttercream frosting, in my opinion. Oh, and their danishes are absolutely delicous as well! We've had danishes from quite a few bakeries and the ones at Peterson's have been the best. And the info in my previous review stands the same: Such yummy treats! I used to live around the corner from here and popping over for donuts or other treats on Sundays was a tradition. We no longer live in the area but my in-laws do so we have an excuse to get our sugar fix here on occasion still. I bought a plethora of goodies for myself and friends but the muffins stood way out. The chocolate chip muffin and chocolate chip espresso muffins were both so moist and the best I've ever had. Huge, as well! I'm going to have to go back just for the muffins! I tried a a brownie with a chocolate covered oreo on top --- ummmm, yes! I'm a sucker for chocolate and this was chocolate on chocolate. Perfection for a chocoholic! Their donuts are just delicious, as well. The frosting in particular was rich and thick. Been mostly away for nearly a tenth of a century but found the bakery at Huntington still in business... Nice store front staffed by polite young ladies ready to make your day better. I lived 5 mins from Petersen's for 15 years! It is the best bakery in my opinion by far! I would bring donuts to work They loved them so much they started filling a jar with money so Monday I would have their donuts and coffee cakes! I moved but only 20 mins away! I have driven there just on a whim but since covid I am not sure of the hours! The bake goods are beyond phenomenal and they people are so kind! I will catch them open one day and I look forward to it!
