I got a Mother's Day tree leches cake here earlier this year and it was beautiful and delicious. I actually came in the week prior to order it and they said it wasn't necessary since so many would be available. I wanted a mocha one so I said could I order it just in case there were only regular ones available and I was assured mocha would be available. Unfortunately, when I went to get the cake early on Mother's Day they did not have mocha. It was upsetting since we tried ordering it so I'd advise to order it anyway and pay for it prior because the cakes are good they just aren't reliable staff. Not only is this place in amazing bakery, but they have desserts and ice cream and other great snacks that you can come in and purchase. They even have sandwiches premade up and beverages that you can buy for lunch on the go. They also have cake by the slice, I love the cheesecake with berries, and the Tres leches. Today for the first time my husband and I decided to try the fruit with cream. I had the strawberries with cream and it was absolutely delicious. They line the cup with strawberry syrup. My husbands was the exact same as mine but instead of the fresh strawberries he selected fresh bananas. They were both delicious! We also love and highly recommend the ice cream, my husband gets the eggnog with raisins and I always get the strawberry cheesecake. I don't have much to say on service, since this was a surprise birthday cake. But my mom said the staff was very sweet! The cake was absolutely delicious. There was layers of chocolate and vanilla cake, with a layer of strawberry jam, and a cheesecake like layer. My favorite frosting is a whipped cream frosting, so it was delightful on this cake. I tried their brownie and it was dense, chocolatey, and had a smooth top layer. Not too oily, not too sweet just right. They placed it in a sturdy paper box with a small parchment lining. I connected with this bakery after a baker we were working with was unable to do our daughter's graduation cake last minute. Azteca did an incredible job following the instructions I had for the cake and it turned out incredible! It was a delicious cake that looked so incredible! My pictures don't do it justice but I did purchase the flowers and macarons. They were able to arrange them so nicely and my daughter/all our guests kept asking about the cake! Custom cake: I was desperate to find a custom cake from a place that had strong reviews but could also take a short notice order as we experienced our Mother's passing the week before this planned celebration for my baby sister's surprise 40th birthday. I came across this bakery on Yelp as I was staying in Schaumburg. I spoke and texted pictures of inspiration of what I wanted for her cake design. This bakery did not have fresh flowers or macarons so I purchased and dropped them off. The cake decorator did an AMAZING and damn perfect job! It was absolutely gorgeous and the cake itself was so fluffy and light and not super sweet. Don't ever order your cakes here. after two time messing my order in the past I gave them another chance and usually they messed up my order again!!! i make sure to reinforce my request in writing this time I asked for the cake to have extra milk and the cake was so dry! secondly i paid extra for the design to be draw it and i received my cake with a piece of paper on the top! what can i said now since the event where i'm taking this cake is already waiting I mentioned this to the cashier and I know is not their fault but they didn't even apologize and they try to bragged me with $5 back. your cake maker definitely ruin the whole thing! EAT PAN DULCE, LIVE HAPPY! I am always on the hunt for a good bakery. My definition of a good bakery: Items baked on site (for freshness, obviously), sweet or savory foods that are baked in an oven, reasonably priced treats that will leave you wanting more. Azteca meets my requirements and then some!! I have been to several Mexican bakeries over the years and I have only found one other place that truly deserves 5 stars from me and that place is on the West side of Chicago and too far for me to frequent so I'm especially excited to have found Azteca right in my backyard. Some of my favorite bakery items are not the prettiest things in the world and as much as I like cupcakes, donuts and cookies from other random places nearby, Azteca has just earned my business after one brief visit. I have been wanting to get to Azteca Bakery for several months and tonight, I made a quick stop in since I just happened to be passing by and wouldn't you know, they were open at 6:30 pm on a Sunday night. In fact, they are open until 9 pm every night of the week. I'm a fan of the hours! The location is perfect for them located right next to an Aldi, a taco joint and a Fiesta Market, I can get all my Mexican foodie needs met at one small strip mall in Streamwood. Who knew? The store itself is extremely CLEAN!! I mean, eat off the floor, clean! The display cases are free of fingerprints and dirt. Management/owners obviously take pride in their bakery. The staff is very friendly and not one single person is just standing around which I have seen in plenty of other places the like; Everyone is working, cleaning, putting fresh items out, you name it. These folks work hard here. I selected about 12 or 14 items and left there for just over 7 bucks...ummmm, are you sure about that? I gotta admit I was a little afraid that the stuff wasn't going to be that great because it was so cheap, but Dios Mio, you weren't kidding, this place is fantastic!! Yelptastic, to be exact. I picked up a few rolls for sandwiches (3 for $.99...can you beat that?) that I'm looking forward to eating my sandwich on for lunch tomorrow. I also selected several Polvorones and a chocolate cake slice that was calling my name. I nibbled on the Polvorones tonight after dinner and I must say Azteca, you have made this picky little lady a very happy one! Looking forward to returning for more treats soon. Beware of dishonest bait and switch. They often mix very old, stale bread with their fresh baked. It's not just day-old, but several days old to the point where I'd doubt if it's safe to consume. On my most recent trip, I bought five conchas, one beso, two cupcakes, and a couple bolillos. The beso was hard as a rock and crumbly, clearly at least 3 days old. The conchas were stale and one of them was fresh baked, the cupcakes tasted moldy and disgusting. Azteca bakery tricks their customers into purchasing what looks to be fresh baked bread and pastries. As a kid I grew up with Mexican pastries and breads and always had one in the mornings with milk next to my grandma :-) Recently moved to Streamwood and found Azteca bakery. They bake everything fresh every morning and now I can enjoy it with my coffee. The pretzel rolls, the softest baked breads ever, sheet cakes, individual birthday cake slices, popsicles, multi-flavored churros, cookies, pastries, bacon bread, cheese dough, gelatin cakes, unicorn tears and everything in between. So many goodies. The selection was uncanny - even on a late Sunday evening when the store was arguably packed (a lot of the crowded-ness may have come from my incessant running back and forth with excitement over what to get), this place was stocked and still baking more fresh buns. The girls behind the counter were so sweet and only encouraged my ravaging their tres leches selection while my partner attempted to pry my face from up against the glass case. Normally when I do this I can hear people semi-audibly mouth the words 'pinche', 'gringa' and 'loca', but not here. Here, they are all about crazy, saccharin-starved, white girls. While everything I had here was majorly scarf-able (less one of my doughnuts that I forgot about in the back of my fridge until a week and a half after the fact) and sold for less than anything you'd find at even a Sara Lee outlet store. And if you're a coffee fan, do get the mocha tres leches. Ours only lasted for as long as it took to walk back to the car - then I pulled out my handy center-console-stored chopsticks and spork and dug right into that B. My only regret is forgetting about that doughnut in my fridge for so long and not getting a slice of the two other available flavors of tres leches. I've started a great tradition of coming here every weekend and just letting my kids pick anything their hearts desire. We never leave with less than 2 paper bags full of conchas, churros, and other assorted pastries. With that said I don't think I've ever spent more than $20 here. Maaayybe $25. But point being, you get sooo much for your money at Azteca! And the quality of the pastries are on point, more so when you get there early. Specifically right when they're rolling the carts out from the back. It smells sooo good and everything is still hot. You can't leave with just 1 or 2 things! And don't forget the michoacana side! It's my go to spot for a mangonada, and occasionally an elote cup. That side isn't AS cheap but hey, it's not like I can readily make a mangonada for myself at home! Now that I've completely gushed about this on a Monday night, I'm trying to decide how I can fit in a quick stop before work tomorrow for some breakfast pastries! I love Azteca! read more

I'll be honest and say that this was my first time going to a Hispanic bakery. I've had flan many times in the past but this was my least favorite. Very rubbery and minimal flavor. The cake pops were large & moist, but chocolate was too bitter for my taste. Overall though, the bakery was very clean, smelled amazing and the employees tried their best to communicate with me, even though I didn't speak Spanish. Excellent prices. Over the last couple of years their prices have raised a lot. Used to be able to buy at least 3 conchas with $1.00 they were $0.33 each. Now one concha is $0.69 each. Most of the other pieces of bread are around $1.00. Lately the size of the bread varies hugely. I know that every single batch is not going to be perfectly fine but come on sometimes the regular conchas look like the mini conchas. Another huge let down a lot of Hispanic people complain is about the stupid plastic bags!!! What happen to the paper bag. The star is for the food here being ok. I must say the customer service has lots to grow. I went in for an elote and dorilocos, specifically requested no tomatoes. I get home and find out there is tomatoes in them. Anyone can make a mistake, but when i called to let them know i would be going back for a correct order, the manager of the place told me that they do not do that. Said they would not be able to fix my order and if i didn't like it then i should stop going there for my food. Wtf! What kind of customer service is that??? Their cakes and cupcakes are very dry and tasteless. I purchased several slices of precut cake for a birthday party because the only whole cakes they had were tres leches. The individual slices didn't even make it for one hour before they were crumbly and dry. I wasted $24 at the bakery for horrible cake. Their cupcakes in the cases are also always dry. I absolutely love this place. It's a bakery that makes fresh pastries and bread every day. They also make cookies, donuts and cakes. They make their own ice cream, some of it has fresh fruit in it. They make their own juices, my favorite is the Chia lime juice. They have elote, which is a Mexican corn that is very delicious. They have some spontaneous snacks such as Cheetos with cheese. Hidden Gem! We try to stop in here a few times a month. They are hidden in a strip mall. Very, Very clean! Very friendly and very helpful! We've been beyond happy with every item we've purchased. Their Tres Leches cake, is out of this world! We actually ordered on, for a wedding shower we were hosting. Everyone LOVED it! Very moist, good amount of milk and topped with fresh strawberries! Yummy! We often stop in on a, Sunday morning to get some fresh donuts, which are always nice and fresh. Great variety of goodies... including fresh baked bread and rolls. My boyfirend and I come here at least a couple times a month to get some pastries. If it wasn't for him i wouldn't have discovered this great little Bakery that is tucked away in a small strip mall. I really enjoy coming here for my sweet fix. The staff here is always extremly friendly and the selection is great. I really enjoy the cookies and pastreis. They are great with a cup of coffee for breakfest. It is nice that everything isn't overly sweetened. Everything here is also very reasonablly priced.
