This is one of the only areas on the "other side of the river" that doesn't require me to drive 15-20 minutes for Blue Buffalo brand foods and snacks. The shop is located off a main street in town. It's really easy to navigate TO, but SOOO easy to miss. FYI- If you're coming from Lowell/Centralville, it's a half mile drive through a curvy, windy road and across the street from the convenient store. There are a few parking spots in front of the business that it shares with one or two other local shops. Upon walking in... it's kinda scary (it's not something I'm used to seeing in regards to a retail setting). You find what you're looking for in a large warehouse-type facility. The bags of foods and goodies are lined up on metal shelves (a la Home Depot?) down a long hall. Regardless of how unkempt the place looks, I like that the store carries a good number of Blue Buffalo (and a number of other brands, like Wellness and Nature's Balance to name a few) lines and the prices are similar to what I paid in Connecticut. What I like most about the store are the owners (and the chug (face of a pug and a body of a chihuahua!!). The owners were a woman, who checked me out, and a man, who sat whilst speaking with me, who carried themselves with such care about their animals! I really enjoyed my ten minutes there with them as they marveled at my chug (face of a chihuahua and body of a pug). I'll enjoy coming back! read more

Pete's Grain is a great local place to get high quality pet food, so you don't have to shop at a big chain store. The prices are much better too. It's the kind of family run business that's hard to find these days. Anna is very responsive and ordered a different variety when my cat's diet changed. They also sell eggs from their own chickens, but it's best to call ahead as they sell out quickly. They also carry stuff like mulch, straw and compost for gardening. A couple of cool things I love about Pete's Grain--in the spring they have live chicks for sale hanging out in their own coop, and there's a stuffed rooster above the door in the shop, which I didn't notice until I'd been going there for a year! read more

The best selection and service at Pete's Grain. I foolishly thought I had rock-bottom prices from Chewy.com, and I would of course make my order at least $49 to get the free online shipping. When Chewy stopped carrying Orijen, I looked elsewhere for my dog food. Pete's Grain has all the best dog food brands (and cat food and bird food and horse food etc etc etc.) including Orijen, Merrick, Stella and Chewy. Prices way better than I've found ANYWHERE. Now instead of $49 a month for dog food (and accessories I didn't need to get that free shipping,) I'm paying $21 from a family business that's been around 100+ years. Family service cannot be beat. You'll be a friend after your first visit. The owners will help you find exactly what you need, and are happy to special order anything you like. They'll give you free samples before you buy a new brand. Natural, holistic, organic choices. Love this place! read more

Snow Plowing - STAY AWAY Our Neighbors hired these guys during the blizzard of '15 so we asked them to send them our way when they came to plow. He had quoted our neighbors $30 (found that hard to believe) so we were excited about not having to shovel. When he finally came by to talk to us he started complaining about there being to much snow, we told him we didn't have cash but the neighbors had agreed to pay him for us when they settled with him. he made 2 or 3 passes at the end of the driveway and was noticeably irritated. We told him to stop and that having the end done was a help (and it was). The next day we asked our neighbors how much we owed them...he charged us $50! $50 for plowing 3 feet of our driveway. This company should be ashamed of themselves! We used to buy corn stalks and plans from them but never again. One star because 0 stars is not allowed! read more

Love this place! Warehouse/mom & pop shop. She sells Fromm, Weruva, Blue Buffalo and more. Such reasonable prices! Shipments arrive on Tuesdays and she sells out quickly. I love the turnover in stock, my cat's food is always fresh. Parking is scarce so be cognizant of that. Happy shopping. read more

I come here for the Fromme cat food and always want to stay. This place was one of the first businesses around when the area is settled and you can tell its still a family operation. Only place around you can get healthy, organic pet food. Parking kinda stinks but not really their fault since the location has never changed. The inside has been re-modeled, so be sure to check it out. In the spring and summer they have baby chicks! Be sure to pet the fat little dog too, he's awesome. Ton of character in this place. read more
