I had a very disappointing experience with the grooming front desk at PetSmart in Chelmsford. The staff was dismissive and unhelpful, and communication was poor. Never bring your pups here. 3 weeks ago I called and asked for a manager of the grooming dept to call me before I went and made 2 appts. The following day a "manager" from Chelmsford store called and I asked point blank will you handle a 100 pound dog with a muzzle that can't be removed. Answer- yes muzzles happen all the time, manager was pleased with me being upfront. I said so his head will not be touched. Response we can work around that. But since we are booked so far out put those in the notes when you make an appt. I did that in great detail only to find out day off appt no one reads any of that. I never got a call ahead or reminder of the appt I made 3 weeks prior. Unacceptable.I brought in my first dog 1030am signed all the forms for both dogs and was told I would get a call for the muzzled dog shortly his appt was noon. 10 mins of noon no call. I walk in with him and am immediately man handled by an ignorant manager who has no care in the world to be proactive in preventing an aggressive incident. She told me to remove the muzzle. I said no way. Do you not review appts on new dogs ever? No. I said give back my other dog 1.5 hours after he was handed over they had done nothing to him. I offered to pay and was told they don't want my business. 2 dogs needing to be groomed 30 weeks a year, Petsmart, this is your loss. Get retrained and fire your managers. read more

My dog Gucci was BUTCHERED today, absolutely unacceptable, this has never happened before and we were even asked if we wanted her "usual cut" (refer to 1st picture) to which we said yes. Her face resembles that of a velociraptor and her ears are choppy and uneven. Do not take your dog here. F.Y.I. this is what they gave us after 4 hours. Took my cat here for years with good results--there used to be a groomer named Natalie who did a great job giving my cat a lion cut when needed. Always heard feedback that my cat was easy to handle from several groomers and I watched Natalie once give her a very good lion cut with ease . Today I brought her home after a lion cut out of season bc she isn't able to groom herself like she used to due to her age. This cut can only be described as nothing short of terrible. Patchy and uneven is being kind. She is elderly now so maybe needs a bit more help to shave due to looser skin but she looks like she was groomed by some pretty novice groomers. Not only was the lion cut bad, but she came home with mats still behind her ears. I am disappointed and only hopeful that how terrible it looks was the worst of it. Time to find a new groomer. read more

daughter experienced in small fish who has cared for a gold fish for 11 years wanted to buy a small fish in this store with a 3 gallon tank just to begin his life. seller lady refused to sell it to us because she claimed that tiny fish needs to go on a 10 gallon tank. we asked why they sell a 3 gallon if even this tiny fish shouldn't go on one she did not have an answer to that. we asked why their fish on display are all on tanks smaller that 10 gallons. she claimed that's because their pumps move a lot of water but there were a ton of fish in each tank. We asked if she literally was refusing the sail and indeed she said she didn't believe it "humane" to put this 1 inch fish in that tank eventhough we explained this would only be for the initial period just like we did with our 11 year goldfish. Do not take your dog! My dog got Kennel Cough, he was there for 6 hours, they charged me a "handling fee" because he was nervous (not violent, he was shacking). I would assume being in a cage for 6 hours and getting your nails cut soo short they bleed would be a good enough reason to get nervous. Next time please inform the parents of pet that their has been an issue with the visit instead of hiding it. My dog kicked his paw raw because of his nail being cut soo short. Please also keep facilities clean and visits short especially for the older dogs. My dog is 13 and has never gotten sick anywhere until this visit. read more

I was on my Petsmart account looking at the Grooming Department where they show pictures and statements of various Groomers implying they are at that specific location. I had been searching for a Groomer so I decided to call the Chelmsfor,MA location. BIG MISTAKE! HUGE! The young Groomer I spoke with to get information was EXTREMELY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and discourteous when I mentioned the Groomer Profiles on the PETSMART Website! She yelled at me insinuating I was ignorant and on the wrong website because Petsmart doesn't do that and hung up on me! When I called to report her to the Store Manager right away he had EVERY excuse in the book for her inexcusable behavior and hung up on me as well when I said I'm not tolerating this kind of customer service BS! I've never had my dogs groomed there since I've heard too many bad things about grooming at Pet Smart in General. Erin the Trainer is amazing. It's about the only reason to go into the store at this point. I primary send my dogs to Doggie Day Care. I used to board here but there were far too many complaints from other pet owners and my dogs, both veteran travelers and boarders, would come back shellshocked. Pet Smart recently decided that there would be no staff overnight with the dogs. Chelmsford claims to be one of the busiest Pet Smarts in New England but they are completely comfortable just leaving your pets by themselves. If anything happens, you're on your own. They advertise that they have 24/7 staff....at select locations. Chelmsford is no longer one of those locations. Pet Smart doesn't care about your pets and are willing to put them in jeopardy to save a buck. I'm no longer bringing my dogs here and will go to another local place for my dogs to play during the day. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I took my dog here for a grooming for the 2nd time. They must have done something to him because he wouldn't move he was so scared. They wrapped a leash around his head and front leg and pulled him. I told them to stop, and we left. Now he is limping and I have to take him to the doctor's. Also, she said it will be an extra $10.00 so someone can help lift the dog on the table. Are they making extra money on the side ? I will be calling Corporate. Louise the store manager was extremely rude to me after an item had rung up incorrectly. After I left a complaint on the website he proceeded to call me to "apologize" but instead began berating me asking why I even cared about the price of the dog beds if I wasn't going to buy it. My first intention was to buy the dog bed but the price rang up incorrectly, which I changed my mind and told the cashier to remove it. She insisted on calling the manager over to check the price. After he checked he still came back with the incorrect price hence why I didn't buy it. He was rude the entire time. I don't care about the price of the dog bed but the way he went about it. Our terrier had the worse haircut ever, really terrible, a complete disaster, at the Chelmsford PetSmart. We have been bringing Puffy there for the past couple of years and always had a good experience, but this time was different. The groomer started making lame excuses when my wife picked up our girl. When I saw the streak marks, bare spots, and areas that were missed I got pretty pissed off. I gave Puffy a bath and brush but it still looked just as bad. I called and had an appointment to get this fixed this morning, but when I got there and found out the same groomer was going to fix it I said no way is she touching my dog again. If I could give ZERO stars I would.... this place is highly unprofessional and ridiculous. My family and I went on a 4 day trip to PR. We left our dog Oreo at their doggy hotel. They said that they would inform us on how she's doing and assured us that she was in good care. Two days into our trip we had no call & no update about Oreo. I called to see how she was doing and the lady was clueless and said "I haven't been watching her but I'd have to go ask my colleague". She comes back to the phone after 5 minutes just to say she's doing great. I asked her has she been eating, drinking, getting along with other dogs? She then tells me that she doesn't see any report of her having any issues with other dogs and she doesn't see any issues with her eating or drinking. She mentioned at the end she hasn't pooped since we dropped her off. I was confused on why that wasn't brought up. I ask the lady if I'm able to talk to the woman or man that is watching her so I could get a better understanding. She tells me that the lady is busy and could give me a call back. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. A grooming service was included in the package that we paid for. They told us that they would have to cut a little more of Oreos hair off because it was a little knotted. That was fine with us. Oreo is a very fluffy, joyful, and hyper dog! She's a corgi, yorkie, shi tzu mix and is only 9 months. When we got her we couldn't even recognize her. She was SHAVED TO THE MAX. She was excited to see us but was much calmer then she was usually. We thought nothing of it and just assumed that she was tired. We we brought her home she wasn't eating and was very tired. Tht brought a little worry to us. Then around 10pm - 4am she had vomiting episodes. It seem like it was a bunch of food and other stuff. Now she's shivering, not eating, has a very high fever, isolating herself, tired, vomiting and is not acting like her self. We brought her to the Hospital to find out she has something in her small intestine and can't eat for 12 hours and is on IV fluids. We're hoping she's getting better tonight so we won't have to do any surgery and nurse her back to herself. This doggy hotel is a TERRIBLE PLACE!!! I picked my dog up after 2 nights sick with urine stained legs .Her entire tale , backside and leg fur was matted together and crusted . It was not yellow like urine but something else . Disgusting. Vet thinks she was aggressively humped by a male dog in camp . Which I did NOT want her in the camp ! I also take my dogs to the pet hospital and don't have any complaints. They look out for your dogs and make sure you are updated with report cards from their visits. We took our beautiful Maine Coon here to be groomed. Despite me specifying to NOT trim his fur, unless there were any mats in the nooks and crannies that could not be brushed out, they did. They trimmed his big, fluffy ruff and his long, luxurious fur. Yes, it will grow back, but apparently following specific instructions is too much to ask. Grooming service has gone down hill in recent months. What used to be a pretty good experience has gotten very bad. In the past you would get your dog back and ready for pick up in 4 hours, it's now like 6+ hours. They cancelled my last appointment because a groomer called in sick. Two groomer that I had used in the past quite working there and are now at other grooming shops. As I understand it, the working conditions are not good for the groomers, which make sense as to why groomers are leaving. Too bad the place is so poorly managed, Also, we boarded our dogs there in July. We packed plenty of food for their stay, measures it to be sure, and packed a little more just in case and included specific feeding instructions on the amount to feed them. We got a call from PS the day before we were scheduled to pick them up and they told us they ran out of the food we provided. This was not possible if they cared enough to follow the specific instructions we left for them. Anyway seriously considering not using PetSmart in the future. I have already found another grooming shop and now looking for place to board my precious pups in the future. Beware! read more

We ordered the complete package for our 7 month old puppy and was told the service would take approx 1.5 hrs. We were told we would be called when she was ready. 5 HOURS later we were called. When I picked her up she had been given no food and had not even been taken outside. This is an absolutely unconscionable way to treat a dog this young. To add insult to injury her nails were "trimmed" about 1/4 of the amount they should've been. If you love your dog, find a local groomer. Do not give a single red cent to a company that will treat your animal like this. read more

Do not go here!!! I took my Rottweiler Rico there to be groomed and have his nails cut. He had been there before and had not had any issues. Rico just turned one year old and is a very friendly pup. While grooming him the had him on a chocker or what ever they use but he was not cooperative and the allowed him to pull on his chocker so long that he hurt himself. The groomer should of stopped the procedure and let him calm down and try again but instead he almost ruptured his blood vessels around his eyes and and had to be taken to the vet immediately after leaving there. Needless to say I was extremely pissed off at the treatment he got while under their care and would warn people about taking their beloved pets there. Rico plays well with other animals including cats!! He is very friendly and for him to be treated like this was very upsetting!! read more

Been loyal to their grooming for years. They have canceled my appointments for my dogs two times in the past week now. Keep rescheduling, then the morning of the appointments they call me to cancel, twice now. They do a good grooming job but this place is completely out of hand. At least offer me a discount or send me to another petsmart that has grooming availability. Taking time off of work to take the dogs for their groom, only to have it be canceled multiple times is just a hassle nobody needs. I recommend going elsewhere for grooming. Most of the salon staff was fine but there is one young lady who needs to adjust her attitude. My puppy was nervous going in for a grooming which is fairly normal I would say. The other dogs yelping and barking didn't help and neither did her attitude. She was visibly not satisfied that I was trying to comfort my dog and told me to give her the leash and move across the room while rolling her eyes at me. When my dog barked she tugged on her leash and yelled at her to stay and when that didn't work scoffed that she wasn't going to be able to take her. Kindness goes a long way you guys, you should work on that! read more

This review is for the PetsHotel. We love having this option for our kitties if we need a place to board them. It's relatively inexpensive at $17/night per "kitty cottage," and the staff provides the litter box, a blanket, and lots of TLC time for them. All we had to do was bring the food with instructions. The PetsHotel asks for a Pet Assessment from the owner, which is pretty thorough, asking about the pet's behavior with new people and new animals as well as basic information about birthdate, gender, and where obtained (i.e., shelter, pet store, breeder, etc.). When we picked up our cat Macy on Sunday, she was eating. We excitedly tapped on the glass and waved to her; she looked up at us briefly and resumed her meal--which told us that she was very comfortable there! The staff also gave us a "Pawgress Report" (I'm not making this up!) to provide feedback on her eating, potty, and socialization habits. Apparently Macy was a party animal while she was there. Who knew? The PetsHotel is great. We don't like having to board our cats, but we feel very secure knowing that we have this option. =^.^= Kitty approved! read more

This is a review specifically for the PetsHotel, as I haven't used any of the other services here. I feel extremely comfortable leaving my two dogs here. My two dogs always seem excited when we walk in, and all of the staff is very friendly, and all seem genuinely interested in my dogs. Another plus is that they always seem to have availability. I have even called a day or two in advance for going out of town unexpectedly, and rooms are always available. The only downside is the price. It's about 60 dollars to board two dogs each night. On top of that, if you want them to be able to play during the day, it's an additional 18 dollars per day per dog. Not terrible for a weekend trip, but it adds up quickly! I am hoping to find a cheaper alternative that I feel comfortable with. read more
