Moved over to the west side three years ago and have yet to find anything close to similar to a Pete's Honda over here. The backstory is this: I was that anxious person who hated going to mechanics let alone the dealership because I knew I'd be taken advantage of. We moved to Liberty Lake in 2010 and I found Ken at Pete's Honda, I had a Honda Accord that I took into the Honda dealership in Spokane and was told I had this huge oil leak and it was going to cost me $5k to fix. I was a single parent and a college student at that time. I searched online and found Pete's Honda and the rave reviews. Ken reminds me so much of my dad and how understanding he is and helpful. He is knowledgeable and experienced and is easy to talk to about car things. He doesn't judge your lack of knowledge on cars either. Ken took the time to inspect my car and showed me as well as explained what he found, and result it was just a very little and slow leak that didn't need anything done just to keep a watchful eye. Later there was a recall on the part that was causing the leak and Ken replaced it for me. When I switched over to a Nissan Pathfinder and noticed cold air blowing when the heat was on I took it to Ken. Ken replaced the radiator cap with a metal one same day literally took 30 mins for him to get the part. Basically every single time I went in with a weird sound or called with a question Ken never hesitated to inspect, give me a honest/detailed answer, and never once price gouged or took advantage. We eventually took all of our vehicles there once our family grew. Although we've moved over to the west side and can't bring our cars in like in the past I still appreciate the client care and customer service Pete's Honda exudes. I called in this morning while have my car serviced at the Lynnwood Infiniti dealership (I don't have a choice since I can't find a reputable mechanic/repair shop over here:/). I became stressed when I saw the long list of things marked "critical/requires attention" on my Infiniti QX80 so I called in and hoped Ken would answer but I got Chris instead who was just as helpful and so understanding and kind! Trust. I go to Pete's Independent Honda because I trust them. Over the last decade of caring for my and my family's vehicles Ken and his staff have earned that trust over and over. I don't know anything about engines, but I know about earned trust. I work in healthcare, and people trust me with the most intimate details about their health and sometimes their lives. Earlier this year, my sister was quoted a brake job on her Tundra by a shop that claims to follow the golden rule. That quote was $5000. Ken fixed her brakes for less than $500. I drove in, told them my concerns, and within 10 minutes they had the car up on a lift and examined it. I was told the car is fine, the damage I did to the engine shroud was minimal. However, they did advise me to get my tires aligned. They charged nothing! And sent me off with a degree of peace of mind. If this is their regular M. O., i'm sold on this place. Pete's Honda is just about too good to be true! This is one shop we can go to with absolutely no fear of being ripped off, oversold , or taken advantage of. We recently took our 2008 Civic in because of a strange noise we thought we heard in the front end. They inspected the car and test drove it several times over a two day period . Couldn't find a problem and didn't charge us for all that work! They assured us there was no safety problem. Try to find a shop that will do that for you and not want to charge you for at least a couple hours of labor! Hats off to an honest , trustworthy shop! read more

Been using Pete's Honda for awhile now, finally decided to document the truth. I have a 2011 Subaru Outback. The dealership was always saying I needed this or that and was super expensive, even for standard labor, so I asked at work for another alternative. Pete's Honda was mentioned. From the 1st time I went in I could tell it was different. Super friendly staff, small but nice waiting room with a TV I could control and a free to play arcade machine. Pet friendly. Turns out Pete's would often say I did not need what the dealership did, or that I did not need it....yet. In every case over the last three years they have been right. I totally trust them with my vehicle and will never go anywhere else. From oil changes to brakes to computer system issues, they have never steered me wrong, and when I compare what I spent to what my friends have spent on similar issues I get the same answer; "we can't be talking about the same kind of repair", even though in the end they all agree we were. The only downside to this critique is I may have to wait longer for an appointment because they get more business from this (and other reviews). Oh well, either way, Pete's Honda is the place to go for fast, fair, effective work. They have earned this critique......hope it continues to work out for us both. read more

I love Pete's Honda. I don't even have a Honda, I drive an SC400 Lexus. A while back I was told that an o-ring was leaking around the oil filter and that it needed to be replaced. Because this car is hard to find parts for they had to special order it. When I brought it in for my oil change and to have the seal replaced it ended up that it wasn't the O-ring at all but a pin hole leak in the power steering hose, but was too small to worry about. What I like about this place is that they could have replaced the O-ring anyway and charged me for it. I never would have known otherwise, but that's not how these guys work. Though my Subaru had been serviced recently in LA I encountered some mechanical problems on my road trip up to Spokane, a shuddering engine with check engine light blazing. Anxiously I pushed through the last 400 miles and limped into town, fearing I had done some serious damage along the way. Pete's was recommended to me by a few friends, specializing in Japanese cars. When I called, Ken warned me that they were slammed and it might be a while before he could get to my car but less than 24 hours later he called me back to tell me it had been fixed. For what sounded like a substantial amount of work, unbolting and lifting out the engine to change worn out spark plugs and perform an overall tune-up, the price was extremely reasonable and now my car runs better than it has in ages. The folks at Pete's did top notch work at a great value and with friendly service to boot. I'll be a return customer and would recommend them to any other Japanese car owners. read more

A coworker sent me here when my check engine light came on. They pulled the error code in 5 minutes (vtech oil pressure switch) and did not charge me for the diagnosis. Then, before they charged me for any parts they cleaned a couple things and also did not charge me. The light came back on so I brought it back. Fixed it and for $50 under the original estimate. Absolute life saver! For anyone even considering buying a used Honda, you have to take the car here for inspection first! My story: I am not a local, I am in California. There was a very good looking S2000 that I was about to buy and then decided I needed to get it inspected before flying up there myself to look at the car. Ken's team was very thorough and they basically checked every nut and bolt for the previously replaced parts and repairs. They gave me an assessment and gave me good advice about the car itself. That saved me the headache (and heartache) of wasting a weekend to go up there for a car that was going to be very costly to bring back up to good driving specs. Moral of my story: This is the best insurance you can get when considering a used car. So many things can go wrong, but these guys can sniff it out and really give you peace of mind that you are buying a good one. Don't throw your hard earned dollars at someone else's money pit! The check engine light on a 1995 honda civic I just bought inexplicably turned on. I researched and called several local businesses looking for a place that would read the diagnostic code and or quote me for a diagnostic assessment. All places called were $90 and up and I would have to make an appointment. Not Pete's Ind Honda--free reading, same day. My problem? An errant wire that had popped out of its place, which they fixed on the spot. I've scheduled a comprehensive diagnosis for later this week (also free) for them to give me the full rundown on my car. This place is clean, their techs are friendly (both mechanics greeted me when I walked in) and attentive (I was helped immediately). I really like Ken so far, he seems very honest, very much a straightshooter, and watching him under the hood of my Civic, the man is competent as all get out. I came back from vacation to find my A/C in my CRV wasn't working. I made an appt to come in this morning & they looked at it immediately. They said my compressor had failed. They even checked the Honda website, knowing there had been a extended warranty on this because of the problems Honda had had. Unfortunately the warranty ended last year. Ken and team are GREAT! We drive all the way from the north side of town to Spokane Valley just to have these guys work on our van. They've done great work and have been fantastic with their recommendations, telling us which issues are more urgent to address, and which ones can wait a while. Ken even took me out to take a look under our car while they had it elevated to show me an issue with the CV joint, so that I could really get a feel for what was wrong. One time we brought it in with a problem that they couldn't replicate. They drove our van around at least 10-15 times that day, trying to replicate the problem, and even made a couple of small adjustments (greasing some parts, etc.) that they hoped might help. Then, when we came to pick it up, even though they'd spent time and money on it, they didn't charge us a thing! Funny thing is that, as we were pulling out of their lot that night as they were closing, the problem occurred. We ran back in and they came out and stayed late to help get the fix identified and the problem resolved. We feel so fortunate to have found Ken and his team and we recommend them highly! p.s. - the waiting area is very warm and comfortable, and the wifi is fast! read more

In July of this year we had Pete's replace the transmission on my son's car. It's a Honda Civic Hybrid, with a CVT transmission. Pete's and the transmission remanufacturer gave us a one year warranty. Unfortunately, just before Christmas we started having problems with the car surging and stalling, which were diagnosed as being in the transmission. Although supply chain issues prevented the remanufacturer from getting a "new" transmission shipped to Pete's quickly, Ken, the owner of Pete's, was great about keeping us informed and he pushed to get it here as soon as possible. Within two days of them receiving it, they swapped out the bad one for the new one. They were apologetic for the passage of time, and they didn't charge us any labor for doing the replacement. Some shops we've dealt with in the past would have found an excuse to charge us. The car is now running great again. Pete's earned our repeat business, and we highly recommend them. read more
