The food was surprisingly good at this restaurant. I say "surprisingly" because it is right next to…read moreWallowa Lake, which is a pretty remote location. Usually, when I eat at a restaurant in a mountainous area, the food just isn't very fresh. This restaurant was the exception; the food was very fresh. The taco salad had real pulled pork on it and lots of fresh greens. My friend's mother had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich and fries, and she said it was delicious. The service was very good here. We did not arrive until roughly 40 minutes before closing. That did not stop the staff from politely serving us a quality dinner, which I really appreciate. We sat in the back, outside, at their outdoor seating, which was very nice cause it was a warm night, and we had a decently large party of nine people. I will definitely eat here again when I'm back vacationing at Wallowa Lake.

Easy walking distance between all of the lodges on the south end. I got the veggie patty on the ortega pepperjack burger and was blown away! Delicious, I need to figure out where to find ortega peppers! (I've just looked it up and all I can find online is it's a brand of died canned peppers but this was a large slice, so I'm really not sure now. I think must be similar to an anaheim. But either way, great burger!)

We stopped in for breakfast on a recent visit to Wallowa Lake. We had wanted to grab breakfast at…read morethe Blythe Cricket but it was closed on Mondays (even the 3rd of July). I love the Wallowa Lake lodge so I convinced my family to go there for a rare breakfast out before leaving town. We arrived and it was nearly completely empty(I should have taken that as a sign). I opted to sit outside since I love the porch and the backyard with its view of the creek. Our waitress was so cute and friendly but all of the menu items listed sourdough and she mentioned when I ordered (last of the group of 6) that they hadn't received their shipment of sourdough so the only option for bread was rye(which is odd since rye bread does not appear on the menu at all). She let me sub toast for a biscuit. The wait time was lengthy and when the food arrived it was mid. I ordered the veggie omelette, it was small and bland-not bad once salted but not generous in portion or well flavored. My biscuit, however, was the best part of the meal-flaky and a decent size. Our kids ordered pancakes and they looked (and tasted) burnt-like they had been cooked in a pan after cooking bacon-but no bacon flavor. My husband ordered the lumberjack and it would only satisfy an anemic lumberjack. It looked like only one egg was used for his scrambled eggs. The parking is convenient but I would def pass on breakfast here. It's edible but nothing special.
