Food is always good! Usually the service is as well I don't know what was going on this particular day. But, everything was off. Called it in, said 20 minutes I arrived 15 minutes later. 2 drive ups before me. Employee asked if I had an order. "Yes" left and never came back. Knocked on the window about 5 minutes later. Someone else opened the window window. Asked my name. Came back and said order was ready But never brought it. Another 10 minutes, knocked on window again. Someone else at the window. Asked for my order that has been finished for 25 minutes now. Sorry I was working on our printer. ?? I hope the printer isn't waiting for an order. Yep Food was disgustingly cold. Spent nearly 50 dollars on cold food. No sweet and sour sauce for my sweet and sour chicken and the Gizzards were cooked to death. Onion rings barely cooked, Milk shake had melted. Clearly popular with locals in a tourist town, good sign. Came on Sat at 6, not too busy but line started forming to order as we looked over big menu. Ordered Chili Dog with works and wife a 1/3lb standard Cheese Burger plus tots. Place is dated, but cool with 40yrs of High School(Local) sports trophies, which as a HA jock from the 80's, I appreciated. Food took a bit, though we ordered during a frenzy of orders. Once the orders came, most everyone was eating. My hot dog was big, good quality, and clearly grilled, so high marks. Chili was good quality, not canned, but not spicy. Only knock is that chili was room temp. Wife's burger was good sized and reported as good. Tots were hot and crispy and well seasoned. The service, despite being a bunch of 18-21ish yr old's, was very good. Girl delivering food was quite friendly and sharing smiles. Most tables were full by time we were eating. Now despite the one glaring knock, my meal was still good enough I didn't want to wait for them to fix it. And the final factor was that our whole meal was $24, so very high on value scale for 2025. Great food, however it did take almost 30 MINUTES for our food to be brought out and it was not just inside at all. Probably two other customers besides my family of 3. The wait time is basically my main complaint, although I understand it is a small family owned business. Overall though, the food was delicious. Just definitely a little bit more on the heartier and heavy side, definitely a meal you can only have once a couple of months. But the fries were super crispy and when you bite into it you can hear the crunch. The burger was great too. Great food and service! Amazing place to get a burger! Their burgers actually taste like a burger should, I've been there multiple times now. I'll make a delivery across the road and run in and grab a burger. R&R Drive In is an excellent place to go when in Joseph. Burgers and fries are top notch and the prices are very reasonable. We have seen the interior in a variety of phases. We have been there during the summer and sat outside, but we have also been there in the fall when they have Halloween decorations up. Employees are always very nice and wait time seems to be lower than other places. Menu is pretty expansive, so I certainly have not had even close to everything. But what I have had has always been good. Large burgers with a variety of toppings, etc. Fish and chips. Milkshakes. A large fry is LARGE. Just so people know. We (2 people) were not able to finish it between the two of us. Fries are hot and crispy, which, if you have read any of my other reviews, is a big deal to me. R&R (or Double R as I like to call it, big Twin Peaks fan here) is a spot I will always stop when traveling to Joseph. Definitely deserving of 5 stars! read more

In the heart of beautiful Joseph, R & R is a good ole kickin it old school kind of place. This is the kind of stop, with a drive-through, where are you can get an old-fashioned real ice cream milkshake and a corndog. (Not that I eat that way all the time but when you come upon a place like this it just brings back the good ole days before things got complicated). :-) They also have a small dining room and outdoor seating. On the menu in the drive-through they are also serving up things like burgers, chicken strips, fries, tacos, shrooms and so on. Here's the kicker... Where else can you order chicken fried steak or even a ribeye in a drive through? At R&R you can. This is a serious drive-through menu. The food is good and the service is exceptional. They have soft chocolate cones as well which is one of the main things I have ordered here along with the shakes and burgers. You're in cattle country here so you're not going to get any fake beef ... People frown upon that here. read more

My group of friends needed food after a hike and we were incredibly grateful for this drive in. The food was satisfying diner-style burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The best part was the service -- we know out-of-towners can be a lot, but they were super quick, very straightforward, and very calm. We loved Bryson (or Ryson, we couldn't quite hear him when we shouted for his name as we were leaving). Absolute angels. And the other customers were also very pleasant. We waited 45 mins for our food and it wasn't even that great. Fries were very soggy and oily. This place is run by a bunch of teens who have no interest in working. When my family and I went over to order, the kids were looking at us but not helping us out and had to wait a while in line. Please hire better people. I've been getting chocolate ice cream cones here since I was a little kid. started coming here after summer camp in 2006 and R and R is still the first place I stop by when I'm in town. They've got tons of options on the menu, all of which I believe are amazing, and while the prices have raised over the years (a small ice cream cone used to be 25 cents!) the prices are super reasonable given how good the food is. There's a very local feel and the girls in the back give such good service - I hope this place exists forever so I can bring my kids back someday. read more

Want "fast food" eastern oregon style? This place is great. Outside seating, inside seating and a drive thru. Did I mention Fry Sauce?. If you are in town and want fast food this is the place to go (perhaps the only place?)... but great nonetheless. After a day in Hells Canyon there's nothing like driving thru here, getting some quick, yummy and INEXPENSIVE food, instead of cooking at the campground. They have it all here, shakes burgers and the like ~ get a small burger for your dog on they way back to your lodging, he's had a big day too! read more

Tonight we were charged $1.50 each for mostly melted ice cream and very poor customer service when I asked about the mistake using the menu! We left after getting our money thrown back at us.
