Came to Pete's recently for a first date from Madison, WI, where I am accustomed to having good Thai food. Pete's did not disappoint! I had the red curry with shrimp and my date had the Thai basil, also with shrimp. We ordered the fresh rolls to start and sticky rice and mango for dessert. Service was good, everything was delicious, the ambience and decor were great and overall a fantastic experience. The only bad thing was that I forgot my leftovers on the table! Every time we go, we appreciate it a bit more so I'm going from 4 to 5 stars. The meal choices are very good, as are the flavors and spices. The service has always been friendly and efficient. The chef has also been friendly to minor modifications to his recipes to suit our requests. All-in-all, this is an excellent place for Thai food and I highly recommend it. read more

Excellent atmosphere. Service was mediocre. We waited 10 minutes from the time we sat down to the time our waiter came with menus. Pad Thai lacked flavor and had multiple slices of uncooked onion. Overall pretty mediocre. I'd just go to Oolong. Better food and service. Atmosphere is comparable. read more

Just went to Pete's for dinner. We ordered five dishes, two were good three were very poor. The quality of the food on the three poor dishes,especially the chicken, was on par with Great Dragon. Very disappointed. This was my second time at Pete's. The first time was excellent and the food quality was very high. I don't know what happened. Be careful what you order. Delightful Asian funk eatery surprise; located in recently renovated area of Dubuque. Shared spring rolls and crab Rangoon with new friends. Thai Basil Stir Fry + shrimp and Shrimp + Pork Dumpling in Clay Pot did not disappoint. Shared coconut sweet rice with Thai egg custard was yummy. Food is mediocre at best. There is barely any cream cheese in the crab rangoons, and the meat tastes very cheap and low quality.

Can't go wrong. Pete's Thai was a very great addition to DBQ. 5 stars all around from the food to the service to the atmosphere. Everything is good. We tried a lot. For apps, the Crispy Wings and House Beef Jerky were out of this world. The Roasted Duck Curry was my favorite entree. We can't wait to be back. read more

We decided to take a motorcycle ride up to Dubuque and stopped at Pete's for dinner. It was really good! The staff was very friendly and willing to give explanations and suggestions. We ordered the Exotic Thai Basil stir fry with chicken and the Bha Mee Patt. Although both were spicy, it was not uncomfortably spicy. There was plenty of protein, veg, and noodles or rice. There is seating inside and an outdoor seating area. We will definitely be stopping in again! read more

Drove to Galena and decided to road trip to try a new restaurant. My family and I were happy to find Pete's! We started with the spring rolls and Thai wings for appetizer. Wings were crispy delicious with flavorful sauce to die for!! My daughter had the Kang jee ( delicious) ! We ordered the Tom yum soup, Thai fried rice and my wife had the beef salad . The service was still a little slow when we visited, but it was understandable with how new the restaurant is, and it didn't really take away from our good experience. Let me start by saying this: my wife's Asian, she's legit. And, we have 3 kids 8 and under. So usually when we walk into a restaurant we get this slightly subtle - yet not so subtle - look of: "oh dear...kids" look, an eye roll, etc. Well, not with Pete's. They greeted us with a friendly "hello!" Even though my two daughters had already climbed up on the bar stools and were doing some sort of original gymnastic move not yet invented. Anyways...they got us a high chair (thank you Lord!) and promptly sat us down. The ambiance, btw, is superb! Such a cool artsy vibe, yet authentic Thai look to the place. Okay...so the food came out really fast, almost so fast you start to question things...then you take a bite and OH MY!!!! Everything we had was A-Mazing! My wife said: "umm, yeah....I'd order that again in a heartbeat!". And I (with a mouth stuffed full of food) nodded in agreement. Friends, go to Pete's. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place sucks and is much worse than Lina's for Thai food in Dubuque. Their prices online are also cheaper than they are at the actual restaurant. My Green Curry had cucumbers in it when it wasn't advertised on the menu. The curry overall tasted like chicken noodle soup with too much spice, and I'm a fan of curry. Pretty good....had Pad Thai and it was good. I've had better and the price was little too much compared to other Thai restaurants frequented. The mango sticky rice was outstanding and I will go back just for that someday soon.
