I was disappointed in the food. I had a beef gyro and it was very chewy. The service was good, just disappointing food.

We absolutely love this place. It's a local establishment that I think is family run. Very old school hole-in-the wall vibes (red vinyl booths, no music - thank heavens, and counter service) but the food is terrific. We only have ever ordered the gyro plate with fries and drink, good price for an amazing amount of food. The fries are, in our opinion, the best in Dubuque and the gyros are massively loaded with delicious meat. The owners (?) run the kitchen and your food is delivered to your table fast and hot. We always like to eat local when we are out of town, and Zoro's didnt disappoint us. It's a family run place located on the street level of a corner building. Great old fashioned atmosphere and service with a smile. We ordered a kids grilled cheese, gyro with no pitas and a regular gyro with onion rings. It was a delicious, served nice and hot after just a few minutes wait. I thought the gyro meat was some of the best I've had, and the sauce was homemade (just a bit thinner than I like). Overall, we had a great meal for about 8 bucks each. It tasted great and was quick. They have a large dining room with booths or tables, so plenty of room for groups. We will definitely eat at Zoro's again, you should too. read more

I am generally not compelled to give negative reviews. I may give a 3 but generally not a 1. This time I feel I need to share. The owner was incredibly rude and snapped at us several times while we were there. I want to stress - we did NOTHING to incur this wrath. We only asked a few questions like "What is the difference between the Olympic Gyro and Regular Gyro?" We made an order and she announce to us that it was a "to go" order - I guess she didn't want us there. I order a burger and fries. When we got home - the bag contained NO napkins. There was NO salt on the fries and NO ketchup offered on the burger or on the side. The food was cold and stale. A order for two people - costing $24 and I personally have had better food at McDonalds. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place completely fits the "hole in the wall" definition but also fits the "best kept secret" definition. We come here often. Prices are slightly high but you won't be complaining about that after your first bite. I had the classic gyro with fries. Everything was hot and delicious! I left with some baklava to go and it didn't even make it home. Flaky, sweet and melts in your mouth. Don't let the appearance outside this place keep you away. Nice use of an old building. Very clean and neat. The gyros are awful. A good sized portion of meat is absolutely drowning in a watered down yogurt that in no way resembles tzaki. Besides, it is very salty. The fries are mediocre at best. I won't be going back as Arby's gyros are much better usually. read more

Came to Zoro's based upon Yelps recommendations. I ordered the Gyro and my husband ordered the Italian Beef. We always split our dishes, the gyro was good, the Italian beef wasn't great. The fries were basic fries. For the price it was fine, would I come again, probably not. read more

Love this place! If you like traditional gyros with fries or onion rings this is the spot! Always a very nice lady working behind the counter and what I would guess is her husband on the grill. They have fresh baklava and a verity of other "American style" cuisine, which I'm sure is good as well but always get the traditional gyro, also have a good chicken gyro! In town for my family reunion and was just looking for something quick to eat before heading back to the hotel. The surrounding area and the restaurant were pretty deserted when I walked in, but the owners (?) were very nice and quick to help me, of course. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger to go (just the sandwich), but my sister decided to grab something as well and wanted to eat in. I was pretty starving, so I jumped on the burger right away. It was so hot, it was almost burning my fingers, but that didn't stop me from eating it, because it was oh so good at the same time. I can't necessarily say what about the burger made it so delicious, but it really was. I was surprised. My sister had a BLT (minus the L), which she said also hit the spot. Even despite being a NYer, it seemed to have relatively decent prices and does a good job of filling its niche. It's also open until 3AM on Saturdays for the post-bar crew. Our only qualm was that they aren't open on Sundays for us to grab food before we head back to Chicago! But it sounds like they work hard and long, and deserve the day off. Cheap' delicious' and packed with love. When I show up to order the owner is very friendly and makes sure you get what you ordered. The food is amazing for the price and when your done eating you look at your partner and say "WOW, that was awsome and I'm FULL!" It's delicious cheap and recommended in my book. read more

Passing through on way to Cedar Falls, I yelp every gyro place I can find while traveling and Zoro's ranks in top 3 for me hands down. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but most gyro places aren't, what sets them above others is the customer service, and above all the food! Customer service from Steve, who I think was the owner/one man show, was awesome. He was Grecian, so very authentic with heavy accent. The gyro was outstanding, good price too for 8.99 got the gyro dinner with fries and a drink. Large think cut gyro meat fresh off the spigot, yum! I'll be stopping here everytime I'm in the area.
