Tough rating on this one. The core item that I usually litmus test a Kabob place on is the Kabob itself! This was sub-par. The chicken was dry and not as tender as others. Not close to the same league as a Moby Dick kabob. That said, they did have the best falafel that I've eaten in the US. The bread and hummus were also above average. In the end, I have to give it a 3 since without a good Chicken, there are too many other places. One can not live on falafel alone. read more

So glad someone told me about this place. It is just a few doors down from a Thai place I love, but I never realized this place opened since a cajun, pizza and an afghan grill have all come and gone in the same strip mall section in the last year. Petra Grill's opening 3 months ago is a great happening for all people like me who want to eat heathier and love vegetarian food. It is owned by Palestinian folks who have had a Petra Grill at the Potomac Mills Mall for 8 years (I never knew that either since I avoid the mall). For my Saturday evening visit the place had a respectable number of people eating - in 4 groups. The server/register person/host was a well spoken, very nice young man who is the nephew of the owner and did a great job making sure the order was right and seated customers (in comfortable booths and standard food establishment tables) we were happy and had the sauces and other condiments desired. I order the traditional platter that came with hummus, baba ghanouge, tabouli, fattoush salad, falafel, grape leaf and pita ($8.99) and my other favorite - falafel sandwich ($5.99) which by itself filled me up and I had to take the platter home :) I had the mint hit tea to end a busy day. A friend had the chicken shawarma platter and loved it. Everything I ordered and ate there and later at home was fantastic! Being from NY City, where middle eastern food is almost as easy to get as pizza, I've been looking for a good middle eastern place nearby (I traveled to Burke an Fredricksburg to go to decent middle eastern place I've found there). I can truly say that Petra Grill is as good as they get in those places and on par with those in NY City. The food is fresh, tasty, healthy and reasonably priced. I hope more people find this hidden treasure and skip the numerous places claiming to be NY style pizza places. Middle eastern food is better for you and your pocketbook. And, it keeps well as leftovers. I will be a frequent visitor here as long as the quality and prices are good. I don't think anyone will dislike the food here. read more

The food is good, prices went up. $14.99 for a chicken kabob and you have to pay for sauces . But good is good.

We get takeout from Petra regularly. I don't normally eat couscous or Tabouli. But their couscous and Tabouli are the exception. The bread is very good too. I usually get the Petra Platter, side of tabouli. read more

The food is delicious! Take out is quick. My kids wanted Subway, so I popped into The Petra Grill and ordered 2 Gyro platters for me and my husband. We have been long-time customers of Petra Grill. We have always enjoyed their food. Today, we had to cancel our order and walk out. The manager was not properly wearing his mask. His nose was not covered and he would pull it down to talk on the phone to take orders. He was behind the food counter helping to fill the food containers and in the kitchen area checking on what was going on back there. I didn't see him wash his hands or wear gloves between taking money and touching food. One cook was wearing his mask below his nose and another was not even wearing a mask. This makes me sad that Petra Grill is not following simple rules to protect themselves and their customers. read more

In addition, no utensils, napkins or sides were not included in the bag... the "manager"blames the Uber driver. Lastly the naan bread looked store bought and not freshly made. I have been going here for about 8 years now, and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The owner is a kind man, and has seemed to have led the staff by example. His son is generous and the wife is the sweetest!! She always has a smile on her face and is equally delighted to help everyone. I've had visits where I didn't like an item, they were fabulous. I've had visits where I ordered from a different restaurant, and went here just for the garlic sauce, lol. If you can't dine in and you're looking for a restaurant where the food holds up well under take out conditions the Petra Grill is a good choice. Typical take out joints like pizza and Chinese get boring after awhile. We recently had 3 great appetizers. The stuffed grape leaves were briny delicious and the meat pies with their savory filling and crispy crust held up surprisingly well after the boxed ride home. We also enjoyed the hummus served with ample, still warm after the ride pita. I'm getting tired of writing so here's my take on the entrees quick. Chicken sharwma platter very good. Gyros were maybe wrapped too tight where the bread was compressed almost like a flour tortilla once unwrapped. They were basic, but good enough. The fries do not hold up well after being boxed, but I assumed that when I ordered them. Even though they were a little soggy and limp they still tasted okay. Next time I'll probably order rice or couscous. All in all Petra Grill is a good alternative to our normal take out/delivery restaurants. I'm sure dining in the food is even better. read more

Came here at 5:50 on mother's day and they were extremely busy! Cashier told us he wasn't sure he could even give us an estimate on when our food would be ready. I did a takeout order. It was my first time there, wanting to try out their menu. I wanted to sample a little of everything, but being only two people, the platter would have been too much. Pita is the densest dough I've ever seen, completely unpalatable. Grape leaves OK, more leaf than filling. Hummus has a good tahini flavor, and uses good flavorful olive oil, but what to eat it with? The pita has the density of a Cinnabon. Won't come back. read more

I've ordered from here on several occasions and always have the same complaint- ORDER ACCURACY. I call in my order and I always get hassled at the register. I always ask how many pita come with the platter so I know how many I should be getting(the amount changes based on who you ask) and I ask for more of the sauces. Which I'm fine with paying for. I wish there recipe was itemized so they could double check the order so when I come in to pick up and I'm expecting 6 pita and 4 tahini sauce I'm not getting dirty looks when I ask for what I ordered. I'm not trying to get it for free like they make me feel- I ordered it, I asked for extra, I assume I got charged for it so I want it. I just wish there was some consistency on what your supposed to get with platters and an itemized recipe so I don't have to rummage through the bag, open things and then have to get treated like I'm trying to get something for free when I ask for the extras I ordered that are not in the bag. read more
