I'm glad we did. The dining area is nothing special, but it's clean and well-lit. This is not a place you come for luxury surroundings; it's all about the food. And the food itself was quite excellent. The falafel was some of the best I've tried in years, my beef & lamb sandwich (sub) was nicely stuffed and cooked just right. Even the fries were commendable. The beef and lamb doner was fresh, tender and so flavorful! It's layered over pita pieces and covered with tomato sauce with a few grilled tomatoes and peppers! I first visited Turkey in 1994 while in the Navy. We pulled into Antalya, a beautiful coastal resort. While the rest of the sailors ran off to find bars and McDonald's, I walked up to a Doner restaurant to try the local fare. 30+ years later, Enter Mediterranean Eats and Butchery where the Doner is as I remembered it sliced freshly from the spit with natural juices and four delicious grilled wraps along with plenty of fresh onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and red cabbage. This is by far some of the best food you can get in Northern Virginia. Not just the best Mediterranean food, or the best Turkish food, but the best food overall. I had it twice this week. After my first experience with their beef and lamb I was floored. I couldn't believe how flavorful and juicy the meat was. It was perfectly cooked. We literally stumbled on this hidden gem--turns out they'd just opened 4 days earlier! We stopped to peek at the menu posted outside, and the owners themselves came over to invite us in. Their warmth and friendliness made us feel right at home. They even offered us a taste of their beef/lamb and chicken... both were sooo flavorful and tender. Absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, we had already ordered food from another spot just a few doors down (we really wish we'd found them first !). We decided to buy some baklava to take home for dessert. It was incredible--sweet, flaky, and the perfect treat. We are already planning to come back soon for a full meal (and more baklava!) because this place is definitely something special.
