I ordered the Banku and okra soup at Asanka Delight. I heard about them on TikTok, and I was really excited to try their food. Overall, the food itself was good after removing the seafood from it, and the portion size was great, definitely enough to save for the next day. The staff seemed very nice, and the restaurant looked clean. That said, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the meats I requested. I wanted goat meat but got one tiny crab, two shrimp, and four pieces of beef. They also mentioned that all their okra soup is made in one pot, meaning all the meats are cooked together. This can be a problem for people with seafood allergies or certain religious restrictions. I don't eat seafood, so I had to remove it. I hope they can find a way to better accommodate people with dietary restrictions in the future. I would still be open to trying other items on their menu.

Asanka Delight is a definite VIBE. The Afro beats in the background were putting me in a very tranquil mood for a midday lunch on a Thursday. Felt like I was eating in a restaurant in Ghana (except for the rain). Dining area can accommodate small and large parties. There is also a bar where beer and wine are served. The West African dishes are great every time I come (2-3 times/month). The jollof and fried rice are good, but I get the fried rice with a side of the jollof sauce. Chicken is tender and juicy. Others prefer their goat. Service is excellent. When you're seated, your server brings a carafe of water and takes your order. Because I've been several times, I'm getting to know their awesome staff.

Asanka Delight has been catering and now has a restaurant. One of my son's bestie's parents know the owners and said their food was authentic and delicious. She recommended her favorites to me. I ordered Red Red (bottom) bean stew with plantains, egg, beef and fish! Huge portion with authentic flavors and the pepper sauce gives it some heat! Also ordered spicy turkey which is just as flavorful! I wanted to try the Omo Tuo but weekends only so guess I will be back tomorrow lol

We tried this spot for dinner on a Sunday evening. The ambiance is welcoming and the servers were great. The portions are large and the food is fresh and flavorful, worth the wait. We learned that they've been at this location for 3 months, but there was a good crowd of people (dine-in and carry-out) up until closing time, which is a good sign. This is an excellent option for authentic West African food and I can't wait to return.

I've eaten here twice and enjoyed both experiences. The food was flavorful, and the staff was welcoming and kind. My favorite dishes so far are the pepper soup and red red. The second time some substitutions had to be made from my plantains and chicken, but the staff cleared it with me before proceeding with my order. All in all, I would return to explore other items on the menu.

    Spicy turkey is delicious!

Favorites were the rich, thickly textured, moderately spicy palm nut soup with goat and beef, the dark and flavorful waakye rice and bean dish, the chicken suya, and the jollof rice. All the sauces were delicious. The fried turkey tail dish was well-prepared, but not my favorite. Portions were generous and every dish offered great value. We'll definitely go back. Dining in was comfortable but utilitarian and no frills. The pace was un-rushed--perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable dinner, but it wouldn't be ideal if you were in a hurry. If you've never tried west African food, I highly recommend this restaurant.

We came here on a Thursday night so maybe that's why everything didn't slap as much as I would've liked. The jollof didn't have a ton of flavor or spice, but they have tomato based pepper sauce a medium and an extra hot that adds flavor and spice to the rice. The meat and chicken was a bit dry and hard. The fish wasn't seasoned much. The portions are big and customer service was kind. They had a fairly big menu. We ordered: Suya rice 8/10 (best thing here to me) Attike w/fish 6/10 Jollof rice with chicken and beef 6/10

I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch. As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it. Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal. I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me. Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I was in town!

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I did not like the decor, it was a little run down and honestly did not match up to the prices. The service was also disappointing. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Maybe you can ask for the gravy on the side. The food is not bad, but given the physical establishment and the service I wouldn't return.

I ordered the "Mother Land" cocktail--it was very strong but still sweet and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service was a big letdown. The space itself is super cute, I loved the afrobeats music and the overall vibe is great. While the food was good, I just wish the service had matched it for a better overall experience.
