I called Jack and lucky for me he said to come over in a couple of hours. He has a nice, bright office next to his house, not far from the freeway exit for Trader Joe's. He's so easy to work with--smart, personable and clear. He knew exactly what needed to be done. I have a backup service, but having done a backup install before, I knew that would take days. Jack took care of everything and had my laptop back to me that same day. There is nothing like the security of knowing your computer is only in the hands of one trustworthy person instead of sitting in a backroom, handed off to someone you've never spoken to. Also, Jack is an authorized Apple tech and his fees are fair. He also helped me choose the right router (I was about to buy something I would have regretted). I have told all my Mac friends about him so I thought I should get around to posting here. Two things you should know: 1) Be sure to call first, he only sees people by appointment and 2) He takes cash and checks, no credit cards. If you have a Mac, this is your guy.

Luckily, Vito answered and was in the office, so I brought the computer in and he offered to replace the hard drive for $140, labor & reinstalling everything (by imaging the old hard drive which was just old, not infected) included. This was at about 4:00 PM on a Saturday, and he would have been able to return the computer that night!! But I wasn't in that big of a hurry and picked it up the next day so the guy wouldn't have to work late. Here's the 5-star part: I discovered that email would not under any circumstances display pictures, and that Windows Explorer/My Computer would not do searches. So using the image of the old hard drive had evidently not gone as well as hoped--the damage, whatever it was, caused some parts of the image to not transfer. Then after Vito did clean re-installs, there were further issues, and the short version is that Vito had to wipe the new hard drive completely and re-install everything from scratch. POINT: after the initial work, he spent at least 5-6 hours on the phone with me, in the office, and on his own getting the new hard drive completely working and all details the way I wanted, at no extra charge, and with no complaints or attitude or hinting that it might be my fault like some people would. We tested the speed throughout the house (3floors) and while the speeds were decent we were not getting the 1gig internet we are paying for. He suggested we try his mesh system router and bam that was the issue. With the router we tested we got the full speeds. He suggested we move to a mesh system over a conventional router and that is what we will do. He didnt try to upsell his systems he instead gave great advice on which ones to purchase. He was here for an hour, tested and figured out the issue while giving us advice on how to configure our new systems and what new system to buy. I would recommend him for any wifi and computer related issues.
