I love this store! There are five pets plus locations around me and I go to the one in Lansdale. They sell the best quality pet food at discount prices and you get a free bag for so many bags you purchase... of every brand! I've also adopted two kittens in the last year and they are the best cats we have ever found! they rotate animals that do not get adopted between their five stores to ensure quicker adoptions. There are always litters of kittens and puppies to choose from, and they are all rescues. The staff are very helpful and friendly. read more

This place is honestly literally one of the worst run stores I've ever seen. Pets Plus treats their employees terribly, They have low pay, way overworked, and zero respect. It feels like they expect people to just deal with anything no matter how unfair it is. Ontop of that The way minors are treated is truly messed up. Long shifts with absolutely no breaks is not okay at all. It creates a stressful, exhausting environment where people feel taken advantage of. And don't even get me started on management. The manager is not even the one doing the work or fit for the position of manager. Instead of working manager and assistant manager smoke in the car while they get there underpaid employees to do everything. The manager clearly doesn't keep up with basic responsibilities, especially when it comes to training. cleaning animal cages. And being completely understaffed (they quit for a reason.) For a place that's supposed to care about animals, it's honestly disturbing. The lack of cleanliness and attention is just unacceptable. Overall, the whole place feels neglected from the employees to the animals. At this point, it seriously feels like it needs entirely new ownership because whatever is going on now is not working. This happened a bit ago in the springtime but the experience still bothers me every time I pass this location. I was at the store shopping for a dog harness and had a question about the selection. Looked around the store to try to find an available employee to ask however there was none. Went to the front of the store and saw several staff members casually chatting. The closest one to me was a young blonde girl standing at the register not helping anyone so I politely said "excuse me" to try to ask my question. She looked at me with a disgusted look on her face, turned her back to me, and continued chatting with her colleagues. She then proceeded to genuinely pretend like I didn't exist. I put the harness back and left the store immediately. The experience put such a bad taste in my mouth that I do not plan to ever return. If I could give negative stars I would. They told us the dog we adopted was dog friendly, knowing we had 4 dogs already at home. Same dog consistently attacks my 15 year old puggle. I've contacted them many times over the 5 years we've had him and get no response back. They make you sign a contract saying you can only surrender back to them, but will not give you the time of day when you need to surrender them. What am I supposed to do, wait until he kills all my other dogs?! We've been to a behavioral vet and done training, nothing we can do is helping this dog and the rescue doesn't seem to care. He's not a bad dog, this just isn't the home for him. He needs to be a single dog in a calm home with a big, privacy fenced yard. read more

I came here this week to grab a few things and I noticed the filth the dogs and cats were living in. There were 4-5 staff members there doing absolutely nothing and hanging together while each dog pen had feces in it. I understand pet stores may have a scent to them but the overwhelming feces and urine even reaching to the back of the store is unacceptable. After calling numerous kennels and groomers to get outrageous prices to bathe my 3 dogs I asked my local Pets Plus during a shopping trip if they offered the service. I was told that for a reasonable price Pets Plus offers a DIY bathing area with convenient large tubs, dog soap, towels and blow dryers. With Mya and Maranda's assistance, I my 3 pups clean, fluffy and smelling great in no time. I would like to thank Mya, Maranda for all their help and Pets Plus for offering the service at such a reasonable price! Our first dog was a " beagle mix", from Lansdale pets plus she was great until she turned five she started showing her dominance, and it was definite that she was not a boxer, but a pitbull. Our second dog came from the Quakertown location. He was the same beagle mix. Needless to say they did not get along. The male puppy was rehomed. The male ended up needing bilateral hip replacements due to some genetic genes and the female ended up being put down by the age of eight due to other circumstances. I recently purchased a puppy & she had worms. I had called once & spoke to Dawn & she gave me medicine that did not work, so I called back today. I was told I would receive a call back within an hour. I waited 4 hours to call again & was hung up on. The manager (Kyle) has a terrible temper & mistreats the customers terrible over the phone & in house. I don't even know where to start. This pet store is horrible. I visited last night and what I saw prompted me to immediately report it to the humane society. The smell was horrible. The dogs forn"adoption were in filthy enclosures with no water, urine and poop everywhere. The dogs and cats looked frightened and sickly. Just moved to the area and needed cat supplies. I saw they had dogs and went to look and immediately started to get anxious. These poor dogs look like they want to die inside. Half of the dogs don't have any water and no proper bedding. About 6 dogs shoved into one room. The rooms were absolutely gross and definitely haven't been cleaned in a while. Travelled to three different pet stores yesterday and this is the only one my friend & I left crying. Do NOT shop at this store. I was searching for fish tank supplies (specifically live plants), called ahead of time, and was confirmed by the staff they had a supply. No problem here. [When speaking to the employees in person they were very friendly, helpful, and great at answering questions.] We walk in then head to the aquatic section to browse. Every single tank was extremely dirty. There were plenty dead fish in every tank. Sludge left in buckets lying around. Algae growing on every surface. A very small supply of healthy looking plants. Many of the fish looked sickly. I would NEVER purchase an aquatic product for here at risk of infecting my tank. Then we noticed the dogs being sold within the store and our hearts broke. The poor animals looked absolutely miserable and starved for attention. The cages were not the cleanest. It was as if some of the less desirable dogs were left off in corners and never interacted with. The overall condition of the dogs were worse than any shelters or rescues I have volunteered with. That day I had AMAZING experiences with absolutely nothing negative at Pet Supplies Plus and PetValue (clean happy animals). PLEASE avoid this store and spend your money somewhere the animals are treated properly. read more

I only come to this store to get my cat's nails clipped. Nikki and Abby are WONDERFUL! My cat won't sit still for me and have been coming here for nearly 4 years now, and they fix her up real fast. As for the store itself - it's cramped leading up to the grooming area, especially when they have pet events. I can only review what I actually have experience with. I have adopted 4 dogs from them. One of them had a negative heartworm test while in their care and tested positive when I got him home 4 days later. I immediately reported this to Pets Plus Natural and they paid all my vet expenses. I wish the new store was larger and easier to maneuver thru but it doesn't stop me from going there. As for the small animals; I run a small animal rescue. Try as hard as I can to sex the animals coming in, it's not easy. Their genitals are so small! Sometimes it takes 3-4 months to come up with a valid sex. Please keep in mind that some of these animals are surrenders. MOST of the time we don't get the most true answers! I had a rabbit surrendered to me that gave birth 3 days after I got her and another litter 5 weeks after that! Google rabbits and pregnancy to understand how that happens! As far as Guinea Pigs are concerned. They can and sometimes do come in pregnant! This is not know until they appear! Again please google pregnancy and Guinea Pigs. SO AS FAR AS THEM BREEDING THEM. YOU ARE WAY OFF BASE!! To find out if either of these small animals is pregnant requires an ultra sound. This is at the cost of $300.00 to $400.00. Vets DO NOT GIVE A DISCOUNT FOR THIS. Are you prepared to pay this price?! However, after your purchase of one of these animals, bring it to your vet to be checked. Before purchasing, ask if the animal can be returned if pregnant or if the babies can be surrendered to Pets Plus. They are not unreasonable. Lets move on to the dogs. There enclosures are checked every hour for food, water and cleanliness. Did you know that when dogs first come into the new enclosure, they can be very tired, and listless (almost drugged looking). Refer to google again for this. They can appear this way after their vet check. They have just come in from a traumatic experience or are traumatized by being poked, prodded, and given injections. PLEASE, refer back to your children going to the doctor. Also, and obviously you have no idea how transports work, learn about the process. I'm sure Dawn or Jamie would explain it to you! Multiple dogs come in to one store then a day or two are moved to another store. Lowing transport cost which is very expensive. I go here for supplies at least 1-2 times a week. The staff is continually cleaning. Small animals and dogs are VERY messy. I know ALL companies are currently under staffed. Why I have no idea. It could be hourly pay or lack of intertest. I HOPE YOU READ WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY!!! INSTEAD OF YELP REVIEWING. VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT WITH CLEANING OR JUST GENERAL ANIMAL CARE! Get off your band wagon and learn about your concerns rather than yelp reviewing what you have no idea about!! SARAH S. these exotic and small animals don't come from Mills. Do you have proof of this? I'm sure you can back up your claim with proof. Lastly, the price of a dog, Guinea Pig or rabbit, is determined by transport cost, initial vet care (it's not free) and the price charged by person or persons "giving/selling/adopting" the animal. Pets Plus I was not going to write a review about my experience with Pets Plus because it was too painful. However, after reading some of the other reviews I feel that I must, in the hopes that I can save at least one person some of the heartache and pain that my wife and I went through. We usually would do research on anyplace that we are going to do business with, but we were out on a Sunday at an adoption event. The animal group sponsoring the event did not show up. We were on our way home when we stumbled across Pets Plus and decided to go in. When we entered the store, we were informed that the place was overcrowded because they had just received over 50 dogs from out of state and they were in the middle of processing them. My wife spied what she would later say was the cutest doggie that she ever had seen. We named him Beau and we adopted him. They told us that we would have to put a deposit on him, but we could not take him home until he saw their veterinarian and got a clean bill of health. We were informed that he would not be able to see the Veterinarian until that Wednesday, so we spent some time with Beau and promised him that we would be back every day until we could take him home. We went back to spend time with Beau on Monday and took him out for a walk. He was really happy to get out of the place and it pained us to have to take him back, but we did. We returned on Tuesday and were informed that Beau had indeed seen the Veterinarian, and other than giving him heartworm medication, he was good to go. We were very pleased and gladly paid the $700 adoption fee and took Beau to his new forever home. We got to spend 5 wonderful days with Beau before he just stopped eating. He would drink water and seemed to just pee it right back out. On the morning of the third day of him not eating we took Beau to our Veterinarian, and it was then that we discovered just how sick our little guy really was. Along with heartworms he was suffering from liver and kidney failure, and as it turns out he had been sick for quite some time. Our doctors fought for days to keep our Beau alive, but in the end, they told us that at some point they would have to start advocating for Beau as he was really suffering and no matter how much money we were willing to spend there was nothing more they could do for him. At this point we had spent almost 5 thousand dollars trying to keep our little boy alive. I say all of this to get to this point, Pets Plus could have told us how sick he really was. What they did tell us was that he had seen their veterinarian and that he was fine. They made us wait 2 days before allowing us to take Beau home thereby shorting our time with him. It seems that they were more interested in taking our money than making sure that this little guy had a good, healthy life. read more

If it was possible I would give them a negative 10. I brought home my kitten, we named her Olive, the one with the long ear hair on November 23. By December 10 she was dead. Let me give you a brief history November 24 she was at the vet with a massive sinus infection. She continued to take her medication until December 3, by December 5 she had vomiting and diarrhea. Which prompted a stay at the Animal Hospital, she was released to my care on the eighth, on the ninth she was back at the hospital and died on the 10th. She weighted less than 1/2 a pound at time of death and had a blood clot that caused a stroke and she was brain dead. I incurred $2200 in bills . I contacted the store to make them aware that she had died from an unknown gastrointestinal infection and what it had done to her. I was promised that the manager would contact me. Two days later still no phone call so I called the Fairless Hills store and I was promised that a manager would call me, I waited 24 hours and no one called. I called back and finally the original store manager called me. It was requested that I send the bills over to her and she would see what she could do. They then offered me another cat. No I don't want another cat from this place! I sent the bills over as requested on the 15th and still have not heard anything. I even followed up on the 18th. My cat was in the care of PetsPlus on October 23, I adopted her November 14 and she was not given to me until the 23rd, because they said they were treating her for an upper respiratory infection. Their vet only does a quick cursory check and this infection could possibly effect other animals there. They have 0 concern for that. At this point due to their lack of responsiveness and common decency I will do everything I can to bring to light the deplorable business practices of the Lansdale PetsPlus. Side note: the black and white tuxedo did not go home with my best friend, instead she is with us. She has been on medication for a massive sinus infection and non stop diarrhea since December 8th and we brought her home on December 6th. She was also in PetsPlus care from October 23rd. My friend could not run the risk of incurring the vet bills like I did for my kitten. There was no way she was taking her back to that store. read more

My experience with this store is deplorable. I adopted a kitten from this store on 11/4, had to take it back to the store as they offered to take her to the Vet for care. When I followed up that same evening to see how my fur-baby was doing, I was told she was being kept overnight for observation. I called the VET that she was taken to and found out she was never taken there. I called the store on 11/5 and exposed them for the liars that they are and informed them I would report them for neglect and abuse. I was told someone would call me back but they didn't so I went to the store and it so happened they had just sent her to the Vet just before I got there. Was it because I was going to report them???? Anyway, on 11/6 I was told I can pick her up that evening and I did. All they gave me was my kitten and Clavacillin...no vet records. I've been asking for these records for the past three days and they are refusing to get me those records. What are they hiding? They allowed me to adopt a sickly kitten and will not release her records to me. Have other pets in my home that could possible catch whatever she's dealing with. How far is it for me or my fur-baby? She's being treated for something that I'm not being fully disclosed to. How can I make them get me those records? I need help as I want to expose this store and their staff for what they are..... read more

I purchased A mixed/mini Doxi at this location in February 19. They microchipped her for me and then seemed pleased there were w one less dog to care for. The kicker is as soon as I handed the "kid" my credit card he proceeded to tell me she was HEART-WARM POSITIVE. now I've had dogs all my life (55). Nothing could have prepared me for this bull***t. But love is love..as is my mini doxi. The mgr. Dawn Bateman, PRESCRIBED AND GAVE ME a 100mg of doxycycline for a 10 # dog of 10 months of age. . I was to follow up, w THE vet THEY recommended. Needless to say I DID NOT. I took her to my favorite vet, NORTH PENN Animal Hosp. The Dr. there told me she should be taking 25mg. "Cut the tablets into quarters", she instructed me. And OMG -the explosive diarrhea and vomiting stopped. Since then she has been in NP Animal Hosp several TIMES FOR INJECTIONS TO HER . The staff at NORTH PENN ANIMAL REALLY ROCK, EVERY EMPLOYEE!. Several hundred $$$ later.. (no regrets on vet bills) But I can now say after the fact my little girl is HW free. PETS PLUS has NO CLUE what animals they are receiving -selling and don't seem to give a sh**. Stay away. She is now healthy and happy, no more newspapers to poo on and a human mother that loves and pampers her. Thank God dogs have a sense of forgetting their unbearable past. My rating is based almost entirely on my experience with the groomers at this location. My dog really doesn't like having her feet touched, so it can be a bit of a nightmare to have her nails clipped. I have seen my vet struggle with her and I have had groomers at other stores leave her so distressed that it took her hours to calm down after a simple nail clipping, but I haven't had any issues here. The groomers here are friendly, great with animals, quick, and their services are very reasonably priced. Grooming aside, Pets Plus has a good selection of foods, toys, and other items for a good variety of animals. The prices on a lot of things are a little higher than they might be elsewhere, but that is to be expected of a smaller business. All of the employees that I have dealt with are friendly and quick to help. read more

I've been trying to adopt Greyson for a year. I got no response He's still in a cage and got fat. Really fat which is so unhealthy for a cat. Now I'm sure he's got really bad arthritis. I applied and nobody got back to me. I called and everyone said you have to talk to the people taking applications. This was in March 2021. Nobody calls. Why is this cat being held hostage? I want to adopt him and NOBODY cares! Nobody has called me. I have tried and tried to adopt him and nobody cares. They want to let the cat rot in a cage over $300. I'm going to have to take him to the Vet. He's a $50 dollar old cat. Maybe $100 but you don't give him a chance at life. You need to be sued. You're not giving pets a chance. A year in a cage. How is this different from slavery? Cruel. I know how to handle him. He needs to come home and live in peace and get comfortable with his surroundings.. So sad what you did to him. He's damaged because you just prostituted a cat. $300- GOD will intervene.I want the cat, what do I have to do to get him? I asked you five times. This cat is Not adoptable. I have given this place several chances but I always get an icky feeling when going here. The animal enclosures are overcrowded and dirty and the animals all seem to be starved for any kind of attention and do not seem well cared for. Many of the kittens that were there when I last visited appeared to need eye medication. The staff that I spoke to was friendly however they always seem to be understaffed. There are no information cards on the enclosures telling you anything about the animals. It seems they cash in on their status as a rescue by charging huge "adoption" fees. I feel that it is not fair to these animals that deserve a chance at a good home, and that they are more interested in making money than rescuing animals. read more

I adopted my 2 dogs and 2 cats from Pets Plus over the past 3 years and they are all happy and healthy. These animals are rescues from down south, one of my good friends has been a volunteer on the rescue trip to Georgia many times to transport these pups and kitties to Pets Plus. They do have an adoption fee which goes into the medical care of your animal and benefits the shelter. When you adopt you get a file of your pet's medical/rescue paperwork so all past or current issues, if any at all, are made transparent. The staff is kind and knowledgeable (especially about pet food!! Wow. I never got that help at petsmart where they'll try and sell me a name brand with no basis behind it). Sometimes a dog will poop in a kennel but I just let a cashier know and they take care of it promptly. As a very frequent customer I can tell you they don't deserve the hate! These animals are lucky to be at pets plus instead of a kill shelter. Visit a store and decide for yourself :) read more

My family has been going to see the pets here for many years. But now I can't get my children to enter the store due to the stench. They're also scared by the dead fish. The staff turns over often-this is a fact. If you're lucky enough to get some help, other than adoption, chances are that person will not work there next time. The prices of pet toys, fish supplies, reptiles, pets, and food is higher here than every other shop. We adopted a puppy 2-3 years ago from here. He had a lot of issues and a bad experience with the neutering. Ironically, we tried to take our puppy back to the store and he pulls away, will not enter. Yes, the place is dirty, very dirty. It is also obvious that this business is here for one reason... to make a buck any way they can. These are puppy mill pets. I am appalled the Board of Health allows this place to stay open. This facility really needs to be called "Pets From Puppy Mills." The last time I was in here was last year and the dogs were squeezed into 4 x 4 containers with empty food and water bowls and these rubberized holed mats. They would run in circles with no bedding or anything to make them comfy. This year, I come back, they had removed the 4 x 4 boxes and replaced them with 4 small sized rooms. In each room is one tiny bed, one water and food bowl, the floor is covered in shredded newspaper covered in pee and fecal matter and the dogs are all huddled together, scared to death. Signs advertise these dogs as $800 and up - or ON SALE with IKC papers. Anyone who has dealt with puppy mill rescue can tell you IKC is code for puppy mill dogs. The workers in this store are mostly high school kids from North Penn who haven't a clue about anything going on, working for that almighty dollar. They wouldn't know kennel cough from a human cough. Ask them where they get their pets - they won't tell you. Walk to the back of the store and you'll hear dogs whining and hollowing. That's where those 4 x 4 boxes went.. to house more dogs unsuitable to sell. This place is disgusting. Do not keep them in business -- they are money whores who are looking to make a profit off of sick dogs while their parents are still breeding more and more dogs for sick owners like this one. Well folks, I hate to leave this review, but you must know. I watched a sweet cat become mean. It's like he's at the anger point in the stages of grief. I put in an application to adopt him last week and nobody contacted me. Now I don't want him, because he's fed up and doesn't trust anyone. They ruined him. I go tonight to see if he's still there and I noticed they had feral kittens in cages with sweet cats probably domesticated. Greyson is now in his own cage. The one sweet cat, brown Tabby was absolutely petrified being with feral cat. What are they doing there and why? Why are they putting nice cats in cages with feral? Nobody watches what's going on either. Look at kittens eyes. They need medicine for an infection in their eyes and they are not getting treatment. So much for Pets plus. Move on. read more

Rescued my sweet baby Gracie a week ago. She is the sweetest thing. The lady that helped us was very in tune to what was going on. She answered all my questions. They ask that buy a bag of food the puppy is on. Totally fine any dog owner knows puppies being bounced around is stressful enough. Changing her food on top is NEVER a good idea until they get settled. Could use a few more workers on weekends. The poor employees were trying to do it all. So happy we choose to rescue my Gracie....best move ever!!! She fits right in*** All the pups are fix and up to date on shots. That is great!!!! $550 is a small price to pay to save a life and again can't stress enough...they are even fixed. Those that are complaining about the smell....um puppies potty all day long. You are going to have that at any place that is indoors. They can't stand in each pen 24 7!!! Place was clean when I was there. Or I wouldn't have rescued!! read more

The first 0-star-worthy place I've been to. The other 1-star reviews were not wrong. Dirty, apathetic, borderline rude staff. The puppies I saw were in small rooms with feces spread around the fluffy bedding. The water dispensers were empty. The groomer was on her phone with a dog tied in front of her. This place should be reported to the Better Business Bureau or the like. read more

horrible horrible horrible! please do not take your pet groomed here. took my cat in and her haircut looks horrible! i cant believe they haven't been fired yet! and worst of all, my cat has a huge cut on her right leg!!!!! this place should be closed down! read more

I have our dogs groomed at Pets Plus and just love the groomers. They have made the effort to learn our dogs on sight and know their issues (bad knees for my little one). They are gentle and do a great job on our nervous pups. I am such a basket case just taking them to get their nails cut because I know the dogs don't like it but Abby and Co are so sweet and friendly and make it easy. read more
