1 week since my dogs' bad haircut experience: There is a spot on my dog's face that they "nicked" and so it was down to the skin. It must have been irritating to my dog's skin because he started scratching at it non stop immediately after the haircut to the point it was bleeding. Now he has a laceration and abrasion from it. I have had to keep a cone on him to prevent him from scratching it and making it worse. He also shakes every time he inhales and has been doing so all week. Doing some research shows that dogs get super stressed/anxious when their hair is cut very short after it being thick/long. This terrible experience has left my dog seeming miserable all week. None of this would have happened if they would have asked me about cutting it this short. I never would have allowed that. (And for those reading and concerned... I have been cleaning his wounds and bundling him up to try and keep him as warm and comfortable as possible) read more

Grooming at the Apex Beaver Creek location is a scam. I've been going to other Petsmarts in multiple states for years with the same dog and have always had great experiences. I've never had to pay more than $65 until going to this location. Twice now, I've had to pay this location over $100 for grooming a 14 pound Cavapoo because they claim she has matted hair. We take her to be groomed every 8-10 weeks and again have never had this issue at another PetSmart. I thought maybe the first time was a fluke so we tried again and the same thing happened. Curly hair does not equal matted hair. Poodle mixes have curly hair. This place is a joke. read more

I really have had a wonderful experience at this store, from puppy training classes, groomers and finding items. Although this store is no longer close to me, I will drive out of my way for the service. Puppy training experience has been great minus the covid factor. Our trainer Watson was great with all our puppies. The class social distanced thru each class. We definitely learned something new each week. Watson was great at offering advice and helped us find a great harness which has helped in our walks. The only complaints are things that are out of everyone's control: hard to hear with mask, noise around the store and less interaction with other pets during training. Groomers: the groomers have been super friendly and my puppy always smells fantastic after each bath. They staff had answered all my new puppy grooming questions. Booking is east online and in store. The petsmart in apex is a joke brought my dog in for a groom I got up near the veteran counter and my dog started to put the brakes on as she did not want to go in. So I apparently dragged her in the door and one of the staff members said that's dog cruelty even though I only took about 3 steps in the door. My brother went to the store and picked her up and that same staff member told him what happened and said she was going to call the police and report dog cruelty. I was very disappointed when I tried to drop my pet all to be groomed today. I was late to drop her off. However, I was told, because they are extremely short staffed they could not see her today. I was also told because they had a hostile animal in the back they could not leave it to help me. I would not have wanted my little Yorkie-poo to be around what Pet Smart considered a "hostile" dog. I was told they could not see me again for 19 days. I'm actually happy it happened. It saved me almost $150. I found a better place and will not bother with my neighborhood Pet Smart ever again. I brought my dog over for a nail trim/grind today but saw that they had a special for pawdicure plus which included teeth brushing, nail trim/grind, ear cleaning, and a cologne spray and choice of bow or bandana...all for $23 with the special! Although the groomer did do the nail trim and grind ($15 service worth), the teeth brushing was just a spritz of breath freshener spray, no actual brushing, there was no ear cleaning (unless I missed it during my two minutes away to pay at the counter), and no bow or bandana. The facility itself is clean and it looked like they had a lot of things stocked on shelves. The store itself was fine but I'm very disappointed with the pawdicure service. I should have just done a simple nail trim. I don't recommend the service packages because they won't do everything advertised. read more

We have been taking my dog Ace here for sometime now. they always do a good job on grooming Ace. Brenda is outstanding as a groomer. I would suggest when you walk in and everyone looks at you they should at least say hello. I never have understood if you walk into a place of business and an employee has eye contact with you , but they do not acknowledge you. I waited 5 min before someone said something. Another person came in with a dog to be groomed. The girl at the desk whom was there when I came in, said who is next. I said you looked at me 10 minutes ago , who do you think is next. If Brenda was not grooming there I would not bring my dog to them, but since she is, I will continue to come here for grooming. The store carries almost anything you want in pet supplies and pets. Snakes, Lizards, Hamsters, rats, birds, dogs, cats, and fish. They also have all the accessories that go with the animals. I did not see any Salt Water Fish there. read more

I gave Erin specific instructions and they had some from the previous Petsmart we use to go. Brought my dog here to be groomed. Before grooming we went over matting and my Shih Tzu was also brushed. My Shih Tzu is 11 and not new to grooming. When I came to pick her up. If I could rate this store location lower, I would. First off I took my pet here to get groomed, I've always used other Pet Smarts for 4 years. I got a call 2 hours plus later, stating that my dog was being Aggressive..I was like are you sure you have the right dog? Anyway, my guy is 4 years old, all the neighborhood kids come and play with him, he's with other people and dogs all of the time, and not one person would ever say he was any sort of aggressive. He's an Australian Shepard btw..she told me he lunged at her when she took him outside to dry off, but told my husband he bit her, but had no marks, scratches, a red place or anything to back up her story. I'm not saying she's a liar, but I wouldn't mind watching the video play back. Anyway, never would I ever recommend this place to anyone, nor would I ever bring my sweet pup back here again! Petsmart, Beaver Creek Commons, in Apex: After picking my dog up from grooming, I found a cut on his neck from the clippers, which were apparently used without a guard. Two days later he was at the vet and given two medications to avoid infection. Having used dog and human clippers in the past, I know it is unlikely that this would have happened had a guard been in place. Sadly, the last time I used a (different) PetSmart for grooming was several years earlier and my dog received a cut then too. I decided not to use your company again for grooming but after moving, I thought I would give it another chance. there will not be a third. I also find it unforgiveable that no one bothered to tell me about the injury, which was very noticeable to me and certainly was to my dog and the groomer when it occurred. If you go to a chain for grooming, just as if you go to Great Clips for a human haircut, in my experience, you are getting the least experienced "professionals." read more

Do not buy crickets here (petsmart at beaver creak commons)! They count Every. Single. One! They scoop them and vigorously shake them to count one at a time, to the point of touching them with fingers to separate them... the stress of this and transporting kills at least 10 in the first day, another few die over the next week (which is expected) ... I'm tempted to return the dead crickets to them! At $.10 each it adds up to over $150 of dead crickets a year!... crickets die easily... this is why every other store gives a generous estimate... read more

In August I adopted two female Guinea pigs for my daughter from the Petsmart in Morrisville NC. It was stressed to us that they only sell females and they don't have males in their store. I trusted what was said to me. One of our GPs began putting on a lot of weight around her abdominal area. Because we had two females I thought she was just greedy. No way she's pregnant. It know a couple months later. Tonight my daughter said mom I'm worried, she's really big, I went to pick her up and I felt movement in her belly area, a lot of movement. I immediately took them both to the closest Petsmart because the vet offices was closed tonight. When we got to Petsmart the person at the store said yes she's definitely pregnant, she looked at the genitals of the other GP and said this is definitely a boy. I called the Petsmart location we adopted the GPs from and spoke to Chase. Not only was he rude but he was very defensive and said you had 14 days, we wouldn't have sold you a male guinea pig. I'd say the 14 day rule shouldn't even be a factor in this case and she's pregnant so. Bottom line is we were told we were adopting two FEMALE guinea pigs and now have a male and female. We can only keep one of them because two is more than enough for our family. I can't believe Chase had the audacity to be that rude and defensive, they were the ones who lied! Whether intentional or not, they didn't check to make sure they had girls, but told us they'd checked! He continued to be rude and defensive so I asked for his name and got off the phone him. The women at the other location that we took the GPs to be checked was so nice and even said keep me updated on how the mom's doing. She wasn't a vet and didn't give up medical advice but she was at least kind and showed some empathy with our situation. This is so messed up. I will NEVER adopt another pet from Petsmart. I can't trust that they will be honest about there pets or honor what they say. Everyone makes mistakes, but when you do, don't mistreat the customer if you're in the wrong, own up to it. I can except a mistake, what I can't accept being treated like crap. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

This is for the Pet Grooming at the Apex PetSmart..... I've been dreading and putting off getting Nanook groomed. Nanook is my sister's dog who lives with me....and is a very fluffy and very long haired Siberian Husky. Because of his enormous amounts of hair, it usually costs upwards of $80... And I usually just end up doing the job myself...which is none too fun! So this time around, I caved because he really needs a good trim, and let's face it, I was not cut out to be a dog groomer. I was pleasantly surprised about the price when I called.... only $52! And I made sure to tell them what kind of dog...I was in fear of being charged extra at the end. So, for $52, they wash him, blow dry him, cut his nails, clean his ears...WOW! That's impressive! For an extra $15, I did the FURminator.... where they brush him for at least an extra 30 min, and treat his coat with anti-shedding stuff. I wish I had before and after pics! Brenda is the gal who took care of my baby and she did a fantastic job! Nanook is still nice and fluffy, but now clean and refined. It took about 5 hours, but Brenda really took her time to make sure she did the job right.! Overall.... a great experience and I WILL be back! read more

I've been going to the Petsmart for the last 5 years and all the employees care about animals and pets. Managment has always been available for questions and assistance. The employees are always willing to help carry out the heavy bags of litter which is a great deal of help to me. My only grip is there are always boxes or pallets in the way making it difficult to navigate the asiles. read more

I will never bring my dogs here for grooming again. They refused service to my dog because he gets anxious about having his nails trimmed, like many dogs. They have done his nails before and he was acting no different than he ever has in the past but they refused service anyway because they just didn't feel like doing their job. I had signed my puppy up for training and when I arrived for class we were the only ones in the class. So that defeated the purpose. The trainer, Emily, looked at other classes but I would be away for the first class and she agreed that the first class is very important. So she issued me a refund. I went back today to ask if there was anyone registered in any of the upcoming classes. The trainer, Emily, said I could not register for ANY classes since i was given a refund. WTF?! She said I tried to put you in another class. I said I know and I was away. She said well it was good for a year. She never told me that and never told me I could not register in the future once I was given a refund. What kind of customer service is that? They are supposed to help animals. This is unacceptable customer service. Needless to say Petsmart does not care about training. The trainer said it would hurt her score whatever that means.....guess it means she does not care. read more

First time to this location. I have a 7yr old maltipoo who gets groomed on a regular basis. I had him for 6years, and after getting groomed here, he devoleped severe ear infection where the side of his head had swollen so bad we took our dog to the emergency vet. This petsmart is much smaller than others. Their employees are very friendly and helpful but the store overall is kind of dark inside and sometimes useless. If you ran out of a bag of dog food or broke your cat pooper scooper coming here quickly for those things would be a good idea. If you need to restock your aquarium, work on your reptile habitat, or find a unique gift for fido this is probably not the place. I have noticed many petsmarts in this area are using smaller spaces like this so this store is not alone. Overall it is just kind of a boring experience though. read more

I decided to wait until my Karo's second grooming appointment before doing a review. Sara did a FANTASTIC job again with her grooming skills as well as how she interacted with Karo. Yes, I was a little skeptical about taking my little one to a large pet store instead of a smaller mom and pop operation. The only difference is there was just more people to love on my baby. So, thank you Sara for taking such wonderful care of Karo as well as the rest of the wonderful people there --shout out to Kevin who always takes the time to greet me as well as answering any questions I may have--in the salon. As a side note- although my dog is small (4 lbs.) , I did observe them today with dogs that were normal size-LOL- and they are very good with them as well. I feel totally at ease leaving my dog there and know that they will take excellent care of him. read more

Brought one of my dogs in for a nail grinding, they cut her nails but did not grind them so they are very rough. I attempted to call to speak with a manager but apparently a half hour prior to closing they set the phone to voicemail. This is not my first issue with this location, I brought my other dog in for the furmination treatment and she was as bad after as before. Erin is the best! Handles our two Basset Hounds with ease and they are always immaculate when we pick them up. Forgot to mention that the store manager is awesome and very customer focused. The previous two reviews talked a great deal about the grooming services that Petsmart offers, but I have never experienced the pet grooming services (other than to watch the dogs getting their hair cut). I love going in to pet smart and have purchased everything from natural dog anxiety pills to crickets. At my house we have two pets. We have a dog and a bearded dragon. Both pets are welcome at Petsmart and Petsmart has supplies for all of their needs. In addition to the wonderful policy of a pet friendly store and having all pet care needs their staff is very knowledgeable. When we first acquired our bearded dragon we went to pet smart and the employees were able to teach us a lot about our pet and our pet's needs. I should perhaps write a disclaimer that Petsmart is the only pet store close to my house and if I need a new dog leash or an aquarium I am going to go to the store close to my house. With that being said I do purchase more pet supplies at Petsmart instead of say Target or Walmart. The gist of this review is GO TO PETSMART! Take your dog, take your lizard, or take your snake and have a pet outing to Petsmart! read more

Imagine walking into this store to buy a gold fish for your little cousins birthday and getting denied. Impossible right? But nope, I was refused the 14 cent fish by the two younger associates. As I ended the weird conversation with them I walked away and continued looking, and my friend comes over and goes, " you know they are making fun of you right?" Obviously I respond with, "what are they saying?" These two kids had the audacity to make fun of me for having my own fish tank in my home. Once she said this I turned to look at the two children and they were laughing and looking at me too. I just turned and walked out of the store. I really considered talking to the manager about the two, but I got pulled away by my friends saying it wasn't worth it. Took my dog here for the first time for grooming. I got a call about an hour later saying that he was to "aggressive" that they couldn't groom him. I have my dog regularly groomed and have never been told this before. My dog was left with parts of his fur shaved in random spots because they "could not continue to groom him". A waste of time and would not recommend anyone to take their dog here! Also, the attitude and lack of customer service from the groomers is ridiculous. This is a good Petsmart location in the main. I shop here regularly for cat/dog supplies, and both prices and selection are good (except for some toys and almost all of the furniture, which are overpriced- but hey, that's chain-wide). Their groomers are some of the best I've come across in a chain location and always do a very good job for me. I've tried the Banfield location a couple of times for simple things when my regular vet didn't have a fit- in, and have also been satisfied with them. In the past, lines have been long at peak times while management and other employees just seemed to be standing around talking with each other, and they still have a few cashiers that're just a little TOO "Chatty Cathy" with people while at the register with five or so in line- but it's been getting better of late, hence the four stars instead of three. If it continues like this, they might get a fifth out of me by Christmas. :-) read more
