Brick location is awful. The only reason I go is due to my cat needing prescription urinary food. In order to buy prescription food, I need one of their special Banfield prescription cards to buy the food. Although annoying, it wasn't as bad since Banfield is in the store. Today I was told my card is expired and I need to get a new one. Banfield is only open 9-5, M-F. Most people work during these hours so I told the cashier this and she told me Banfield has opened a new location. So now, not only do I need this stupid card, to buy incredibly expensive food in an already overpriced time, but I have to go to another location to get a new card in order to buy said food. Utterly ridiculous. On top of this, the store is always disgustingly filthy, there is always only one cashier with a long line. read more

i stopped in today 8/21 around 4pm for dog food and left with 6 molly fish and a new tank set up. i have always wanted fish and today i was looking at them and asked the employee if he could help me - i asked a lot of questions and he was super helpful and knowledgeable about fish. i didn't get his name, but he said he has had fish most of his life, likes all animals (minus a certain geico because you're not supposed to handle them) he showed me products he uses for did tanks and he picked healthy, pretty molly fish for me when he was selecting them. he pre warned me since i haven't had the tank set up prior to today that i may lose a fish (he also informed me of the return policy) but with his help and googling a few things - my fish all currently seem very happy in the tank and i look forward to this experience. read more

Horrible experience with their pet hotel. Our dog was boarded here for 3 days and on 3 day was getting homesick and his anxiety started to kick in. He was panting and the hotel staff was convinced that there was something wrong with him. They called us when we were out of state and stated that the dog needed to go to their Banfield Vet because he was anxious and needed to be examined for it. They bring the dog to their Banfield vet. The dog doesn't like to be picked up or to have his undercarriage touched (like most dogs that experience anxiety.) The vet claims that the dog now needs full x-rays because he doesn't want to be touched so "clearly that means he's sick." We try to explain that he just doesn't like it when you do that. The pet hotel says that can't take him back because we are "refusing treatment" of unnecessary x-rays. The vet says that since the pet hotel won't take him back, the vet needs to admit him for observation for $300 until someone can immediately come get the dog. We have to drive 4 hours to get back to the state and when we arrive at PetSmart their vet says the dogs been fine, he just was anxious but calmed down after 20 minutes. The vet tried to explain this to the Pet Hotel, but they didn't want to hear it. The store manager left my 74 year old mother in tears saying that she was never allowed to board the dog there ever again because she "refused treatment." Refused diagnosis and treatment of an illness that never existed? I'm stunned at the unprofessionalism displayed during this entire experience and the amount of lies that were told by PetSmart staff to shift blame onto others. I can't wait to follow up with the C-suite of PetSmart about our experience. read more

Everytime you go to this Petsmart location the line is always long with them having only one cashier.Never any help in the fish department to help you. Also they recently had a sale on dog food and had tags with prices underneath and when I asked a worker after searching for one she said they placed the items in the wrong spot.I proceeded to say to her all of these bags and if the price was there, I showed you so you know I didn't switch the prices, you technically have to give it to the customers for that price.The girl proceeded to say no the items doesn't belong to the tag.I have worked in retail on my life and customers are suppose to be always right.You never said this to a customer and not try to make it right.I said ok and put down the other items in my hand as I walked out of the store. The Brick location is not well run, they always have a long line with 1 cashier and it takes forever. Also bc of my job i don't have a-lot of time, so for convenience of picking up canned food for my 3 cats, i order online to pick up on my way to work. Today i ordered around 12:30, says it takes 2 hours (for 6 cans of food ?!?!?) so around 2:45 i'm in the area and pull into the lot of the store and call in. The rude lady that answered the phone 1 couldn't hear me and 2 seemed inconvenienced bc i was checking on my order. She said it was never pulled and said they would "work on it" i said i'm in the lot how long will it be, she got mad and gave me more attitude said give me 5 minutes. After i clicked "i'm here" she walks out i said hi and i get an attitude and her body language is that i again inconvenienced her to do her job. She handed me the bag and walked away not saying anything. If i can find another store that i can buy single cans of cat food i will be going there. This has not been the first time this has happened and it gets worse each time. I only bring my 2 dogs here for nail trims and butt trims. They do a good job and I'm satisfied with this simple service. A nice girl named Brittany usually takes care of them. But ......... One day when I was waiting for my dog, I saw a small blond girl with a mean look on her face grooming a large dog. She was very rough with the dog and the dog even fell off the table while she was grooming him. She pulled him up, all while huffing & puffing. Have been taking my dog to be groomed at Petsmart for a while now. Never had a problem. The last time I took her to be groomed the girl looked her over, said everything good and I left. When I bring the dog I always leave the tip before the grooming. When I got home I had a message to pick up the dog that she had fleas and they could not groom her. They should have noticed fleas if she did have them when she was being checked in. Dog has never had fleas. Told me to buy flea medicine and bath her in Dawn and come back in two weeks. Very embarrassing situation since I have never had a problem before. Groomer never returned the 10.00 dollar tip and I picked up the dog. I took her elsewhere and had her groomed and will never go back to Petsmart again. read more

Would give a zero star review if I could. PetSmart will never see a dollar of my money again. I boarded my dogs at the PetHotel because I was told they could share a private suite together. The dogs haven't been apart since the younger was 8 weeks old. I was not informed of any breed restrictions at the time of reservation or check in. I was told twice they could board together. The dogs freak out when they're separated. Now I land in LA and I get a call from the manager, LINDA, who informs me the dogs will be separated because one is a bully breed and it's against their policy. What policy? The policy that no one informed me of? Oh that policy. This is undue stress to my husband and I on our trip and more importantly stress to our dogs. And to top it off the manager is now avoiding us and corporate does not want to help. I feel deceived and helpless as I have trusted this place to care for my dogs and it was not easy to choose to board them for the weekend. I never would have boarded them here if I was made aware of this policy. I wanted to make it as stress free as possible for the dogs and this pet hotel is making it worse. Had an awesome experience today at this PetSmart location. I took my puppy in for her first grooming appointment with Brittany M. She took such great care of my puppy Lily. I was so nervous about her going in since it was my first time having someone else give her a bath and she was so friendly and kind! She explained the process, what she would be using to bath her and told me she would call me when she was finished. She finished earlier than expected and Lily came back so clean and smelling great! We upgraded to the Top Paw Package and it included a cute bandana as well. We will definitely be coming back for future grooming visits with Brittany! read more

The woman was okay but the things she was teaching so basic, how to walk your dog on a leash, sit, come? I HAD to take these classes as part of the adoption requirement from the shelter. On a whim, I went to petsmart to buy things to start a freshwater tank - including tropical fish. The woman I spoke to seemed to know what she was talking about. She helped me pick out the tank with an air filter, as well as the water conditioner and accessories. I then chose my three fish, which she stated were non aggressive and could be placed safely in the same tank. I went home, sent everything up how she had explained. For the first week, all of the fish seemed happy and healthy, zooming around the tank. By the eighth day, I woke up to a half eaten fish on the top of the tank. I called petsmart and they did nothing, stating this is a rare occurrence and they apologize for the "inconvenience". Ok fine. Went back to petsmart and bought another fish to add back in. Within two days, two fish literally just went missing. The one fish left was ginormous, and I literally thought it ate the two others. Called petsmart again, they once again just apologized and said maybe the fish jumped out of the tank. Not possible, because I have hardwood flooring and checked every inch of space including the air filter in the tank. Win one fish left, and following the general cleaning steps of the tank, this one only lasted for about another week before it sank to the bottom of the tank and died. Petsmart definitely does not take good care of their animals - when I first fed the three of them, they would eat three pinchfuls of food in one minute, still looking for more. I've had some fish from local pet stores last over three years with no problem. I'll be taking my business back to a pet store that actually cares about their animals, big or small. read more

this is my "go to" store for pet supplies. they are close to my home and they have many products at various price points. i buy their brand dog food, it comes in a few different flavors and formulas for dogs of different ages and sizes. i appreciate that because i have little dogs with little teeth. they also have a vet clinic, and doggie hotel, and they house some cats that are up for adoption. they sell live small birds, reptiles, and fish. Not all of their prices are the cheapest around (i can get wee wee pads cheaper at Costco) but in general they have good things prices. read more

My husband recently adopted our cat through this PetSmart. The rescue shelter, SAVE, brings their animals here regularly to be adopted. The facilities here are very clean, the staff is helpful, and it's close to where we live, so it's convenient. I will say their only downfall is that they seem to be out of a lot of stock and never seem to have enough employees available. Even so, in the long lines, I'm never waiting that long. I do have my choice of pet stores near me, and this one seems to be the best and most reliable. Don't forget to check out SAVE while you are there! read more

*This review is specifically for the Banfield location within the PetSmart.* Last week, Lola (our Peke) had some tummy issues while we were visiting the Mister's family up in Manasquan. Since the problems persisted for more than a day (and because I like to take advantage of the wellness plan that I pay for through Banfield), I decided to take her in to the nearest location for a checkup. Within minutes we were in Room #1 and being attended by a nurse, who took Lola's temperature and was filled in on the incidents of the past 48 or so hours. Shortly after she left the room, Dr. Hordynsky joined us. Folks, the Doc's fantastic and I recommend that anybody who visit this location request him by name. He was informative and honest (where some vets might have encouraged me to spend hundreds of dollars on unnecessary blood work and whatnot, Dr. H gave it to me straight and said he "had to offer it" but didn't personally feel it was necessary). He explained things in terms of what the human equivalent of what Lola had was, and let me know what I could do to help avoid the same issue in the future. He also gave me some advice on how I could get Lola to eat dog food without fussing (she's got some pretty human tastes, that Peke of ours!) which has turned out some great results -- Lola's back at 100% and eating dog food like a champ! All in all, it was one of the more pleasant vet experiences Lola and I have had. Quick, courteous and professional, the staff at this new-ish facility rocks. read more

We've had two bad experiences here. The first was about a month ago with dog grooming. We booked for a basic puppy cut then we were misquoted a price for a conditioning treatment. Today we purchased fish. The special was to buy 4 and get 2 free. After looking at the receipt we thought we were charged for all 6 fish. Instead. The manager says no that we actually underpaid and we now owed $1.89! They made the mistake but now wanted more money, FU! Never going there again! read more

We boarded our dog at the petsmart hotel from Sunday December 24th till Tuesday December 26th. The only reason I am giving 1 star is because that is the least amount yelp allows I have many issues with this place #1 On the assessment paper there is a section for Are there any specific behaviors or requirements that they need to be aware of? (i.e. eats from a raised feeder, must use a harness) I wrote on the paper that our dog must use a harness as she has a collapsed trachea and can not be walked from around her next. I also told them this when we went in to board our dog. The only reason our dog has a collar on is for her tags. The lady told me that they remove everything from the pets and that they us a leash around the dog's leg. What is the point of asking if a dog uses a harness if they are not going to use the harness. #2 We were told that we could call to check on our dog at anytime. We called a number of times on CHRISTMAS DAY & NO ONE ANSWERED!! When asked both on the phone and in person the next day we were told by the lady that they are closed on CHRISTMAS DAY and that they were only there to take care of the pets and that they do not have time to answer the phones. I guess they have never heard of cordless telephones. I told her then we should not have been told that we could call at anytime. She then told us that they come in on CHRISTMAS DAY to check on the pets as a courtesy. UMMM NO IT IS YOUR JOB!! # 3 When they brought our dog out to us when we came to pick her up they brought her out with both her collar and harness on with her leash hooked to her harness. Which is fine, however she was walked out by a different leash around her neck even though they had been told that she can not be walked from around her neck. WE WILL NEVER BOARD OUR DOG THERE AGAIN!! read more

I forgot my dogs vaccination information and instead of doing what I would have done, What I do for my patients, take the dog then call the damn vet they turned me away. I even told them I was in a rush. Have to get on the road for an event on Long Island. Mind you as we speak it's raining/ hailing. Like I have time for this. Very bad business. Will NEVER use them again. And I think no one else should either. I am giving no stars because they don't deserve it. First impression counts!!! Guess I have to give one star. Disappointed in Petsmart for not having more oversight over the cat adoption area. I was in the store recently and a woman with a large dog was tapping aggressively on the glass to get her dog to jump up and notice the cats. She did this to each cat. The cats were obviously stressed: hissing, tails big. I asked the woman to stop because the cats were getting stressed by her behavior and her dog jumping at the glass. She said she didn't care and continued to entertain herself and her dog by harassing the shelter cats. An employee was nearby ignoring the activity, I hope she was just engrossed in her work. I asked her to put up signs to not tap on the glass and to say something to people who disregard the sign. Its disappointing that a business here to make the lives of pets better is not protecting the shelter cats better from rude and abusive customers. I should not have had to say something, it is the employee's job to speak up. But I can't stand by and watch animals get harassed. read more

I own the number 4 ranking Belgian Sheepdog in the country and have been taking him for grooming here for the last 3 years. We had thought the dog was having skin issues with the old groomer because he never had any coat. With in 6 months of using pet smart grooming he looked better than he ever did. His coat was full and beautiful like it should be. His groomer, Morgan, follows my instructions to the letter. Because of this Duke went on to finish his championship and Grand Champion in 3 months of showing. I can not praise the entire staff enough read more

They must not like cats here - or at least the employees don't. Woman was extremely RUDE upon pickup of our kitty and told us they don't want her back. How difficult is it to take care of cats?! Groomer named Kellie from store 1963 at 2 Brick Plaza in Brick, NJ laughs in your face when you ask for anything other than a clipper level 1 job ( in human terms described as a military cut!) I'm sorry I'm not paying over $50 for a cut I could have done at home! Don't go here for any type of styling or advanced skill cut, any specialized shaping or extra time put into your precious pet. Also prepare to pre-groom your longer haired dog at home, otherwise they will claim "matting" and will just shave the dog down to its skin. Terrible experience! They want to do little to no work for the same money you would pay at a specialized groomer. Manager Katie will back up her laughing groomer Kellie with no apologies for her poor decision in hiring. Also, asks that you place your dog on the floor (Covid 19 landing spot) to assess its coat! Excuse me...how about a table for safety of the pet and improvement of customer experience? The one other experience I had with this location was months back and my dog wouldn't stop itching her ear for more than a month. They offered to have their in house vet take a look at her and claimed she was fine. However her itching continued for another two weeks after. Horrible horrible grooming experience. Had a double appointment for both my dogs, got there 20 minutes early because I was told I had to update paperwork. Realized I forgot my vaccination record and as I'm struggling with a 100 pound dog and my smaller one, this little snit of a blonde starts giving me a hard time and just being nasty. I finally got control of my dog and was about to leave to return with the records when she shouts out to me "have a happy Easter!" I immediately asked for a manager and will not be returning if that's the kind of people they hire to work there. I have spent so much money between banfield, grooming and boarding and the store itself but I won't anymore. They lost out on over a $100 today between both my dogs for allowing some snot faced teenager to work there. I plan to complain to corporate as well, so uncalled for especially on Easter! The best was when the manager knew exactly who I was talking about and even said that she didn't know what to do with her. If I were her, I'd get rid of that girl before you lose more business for your store. read more

I don't usually post reviews but Petsmart has gotten a bad rap from some and I'd like to add my two cents. Brittany V. is our groomer and does a fabulous job on both our animals. Buddy is a grumpy 13 year old and Bella an "energetic" 6 yr. old. She listens to my concerns, takes great care of my animals, and is very careful and meticulous with both. I would recommend her and the Petsmart Brick groomers to anyone who needs the service. You rock Brit! read more

If I could give Banfield animal hospital is zero I would. They have awful customer service. Every time I call to make an appointment I am literally calling for over an hour because they do not pick up their phone. And then when you do get a hold of him with the sick or hurt animals they tell you it's days before they can see you. Obviously they don't care. read more

Don't take your dog to get groomed here! I took my dog here for a simple nail trimming because my groomer is an hour away. The girl working there put a loop around my dogs neck and instead of picking my tiny 6lb dog up she started to drag the dog on the floor pulling on the neck.
