Our recent experience with Grooming Garage was excellent -- in fact, I've just booked a second appointment. Jose handled our beloved toy poodle just the way we had requested, and Percy looked great. BTW, I found this place by asking fellow NJ dog walkers whose pups look good -- the best possible recommendation. And the price is right -- nearly half what I'd pay in NYC. Very happy I found Grooming Garage! Tried bringing my poodle to two other local groomers. One was ridiculously expensive and billed for "upcharges" seemingly pulled out of thin air, and the other was grumpy and rude. Third attempt at finding a groomer turned out to be a charm - Grooming Garage gives great cuts at a reasonable price and everyone there seems to enjoy what they're doing. Once last year I got in touch with them, but I haven't been able to this year recently when I have tried. I have tried NUMEROUS times calling this place for an appt - today alone I have called 4 times, it rings and then goes to vmail saying "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, this call cannot be completed as the party is temporarily unavailable". It's not temporary, I have tried several times and no answer. Since I couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone, last week I actually tried going there around 3:30 pm on a Tues or Wed. We have a very strong, large pit/lab mix who HATES having his nails trimmed. Purr and Pooch in Wall wasn't able to do it, even after bringing him back there again for a second try (and they still charged us for a nail trim!). We took Max to Grooming Garage and Jose was excellent. It took 3 groomers to trim his nails but they got the job done! Max loves going there now too, which I couldn't believe LOL. We have been there a few times with Max and each time has been excellent. We are taking him and his new sister Layla back tomorrow. Prices are very reasonable too! read more

Nice cuts. The thing is if you bring in two dogs they assign both dogs to same person so you end up having to wait a very long to pick up your dog. About 2 1/2 hrs per dog came to over 5 hours. From the first time I spoke to Jose to book an appointment for our 11 year old VERY anxious medium sized labradoodle, we have had very positive experiences. We have now been there 3 times. Jose has been professional, accommodating, thorough and nice. We appreciate that notes have been made about our dog so we know he will receive a consistent and careful cut. There is easy access to the store which makes drop off and pickup a breeze. Also, there aren't too many other dogs being groomed at the same time which is a plus for us since our dog gets nervous. We have felt very positive each time we've dropped him off and very satisfied with the results. My dog,Oslo is very anxious about his grooming. I spoke with Jose, the owner, when I called to make the appt and told him of our issues. He was fine with all of it and told me to bring him in within the week. From the minute I walked in until I came back three hours later I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the professional way the staff behaved . When I called about pickup Jose called back to reassure me that my pet would be ready to go. Krum explained how, because of the dogs, anxiety, that he used a scissor on his face as opposed to using the electric shears. I believe this is the first time the groomer was honest with me about what was happening and I totally appreciated the honesty.I will be using only grooming garage from now on read more

Yesturday on 2/16/21 I took my 8 month old puppy to this groomer(garage groomer is a great name, exactly where I felt I was in a shady place in a garage) That's where I felt like I was. Dropped my pup off at 11am, groomer called me around 4pm to come get him, that he was ready. Then called back to inform me that his grooming service was not complete they were only able to bathe him. When I arrived the groomer Jose informed me that they were not able to complete his grooming services. I'm like ok, where's my Marley. He then began a to tell me how he started bleeding from his eye. WHAT! Frantic I demanded to see my puppy. He brought him from the back only to find both of his eye vessels had popped. The right side being the only one that bled. I was angry and felt how could they leave the information out. I asked the owner 5x did anything happen, did you make a mistake and cut his eye, did he play with other dogs etc?..... He said NO, nothing happened, and tried to imply that I dropped him off like that. With a lm actively bleeding eye... no! He said the only thing that happened was he tried to jump off the table and I switched the leash from around his neck to his shoulder. But he failed to mention that the reason he did that is because the lease around Marleys neck choked him causing his eyes to hemorrhage and bleed from his right eye. I had to immediately take my puppy to the vet where the vet confirmed a mild chocking did occur. DO NOT EVER take your puppy to this place. They are liars, they are unprofessional, and a shady place. Jose knew from the moment I left what happened to puppy and instead of just being honest, he lied and acted like he couldn't see Marleys eyes prior to the grooming and couldn't confirm if his eyes were white when he walked in. When you bathe a puppy with hair the hair condenses vastly and you can see his big eyes, as they protrude that's his breed type a Shihpoo. His big bright eyes were white when he walked in, not bloody and red!!!!!!! Just lies after, lies from this place! If I could give 0 starts I would. If you love your animals don't bring them here. They don't care about animals safety at all. Almost killed my baby!! read more

I really like the Grooming Garage and have recommended them to many people. They are kind and gentle and do a good job with my little rescue. It is clean and Charlie comes out smelling and looking fresh. His haircut grows in nicely and I only need to take him every 6-8 weeks. I can generally get an appointment quickly and he is in and out within about 3 hours. The cost is comparable to other groomers and is very convenient to Bradley beach, Avon and Neptune. I would give them a great rating if they can be able to dremel Charlie's nails as they end up being sharp because he doesn't like the dremell on his toes. read more
