Organized, prices are clearly marked and there's almost always plenty of the specific food that my fur babies like. There's also usually a deal. The store is clean and bright. First they said they don't do meet and greets after 6 (not posted anywhere), then they said they don't do them on days they get trucks delivered because they're too busy, they she said the animals got there too recently and they aren't ready (only after I said the other two fake excuses were bs). Grooming services= Negative stars. You get what you pay for. Pretty sure they allow anyone with no training or dog knowledge whatsoever to groom. My own fault for trying to save some money this time and took my pup there for a full groom. Got very unlucky with the groomer that was available that day. First red flag-- they did not contact me to come pick my dog up for over 6 hours. If you don't have time to provide adequate service in adequate time, do not accept more appointments in the first place! When I came to pick said dog up, all groomers were standing outside on the sidewalk rippin a heater. So I had to wait for their smoke break to be over for several minutes before anyone came inside to assist. Cut was subpar-- could barely tell anything was done. Whatever, fine. I had already made up my mind that this was the last time coming here. Fast forward two days later and my dog is yelping the most high pitched scream I've ever heard her do as something brushed against her leg. When I tried to look at it more closely, she yelped more and proceeded to run away and hide in the closet. I knew something was really wrong. Vet visit next day + X-rays because the screams were so bad that I assumed something had to be broken. She had to be sedated as no one could come anywhere near her leg without her losing it. Scan showed some inflammation around joints and potential tears but could not be confirmed without more advanced equipment. Home with mild pain meds and ordered to rest. Few days later, meds seem to have kicked in enough to where dog is allowing me to more closely inspect her leg area. As I do, I'm able to feel down deeper into the fur with my fingertips. It's then that I notice bumps, scabs and lesions. Bring her back to vet next day for them to examine because I suspect that these skin irritations are actually the source of pain, NOT the inflammation or that there's potentially a ligament tear. They have to shave a big patch off her leg because the skin is infected so badly. She had a bad case of dermatitis/ hot spots that spread like wildfire. That leg area was the worst, but there were lesions and scabs all over her body. Do you know one of the main causes of this?? = Dogs becoming wet for long periods of time. As in when unskilled groomers wash a dog and leave them wet for hours without drying them which I'm betting money-- is what happened here in this long winded story!! Irresponsible. Cost me over $1k in vet bills and meds to treat this. And was obviously super painful for my dog. In summary if you're still reading lol--- DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS DUMP FOR GROOMING SERVICES. And no, I'm not going to name names because honestly like I said-- I think they just hire anyone. And that young woman couldn't care less nor does this store. She's probably working at dollar tree next door now (no shade I love that store). My point being, naming them is useless. And that concludes tonight's bedtime story. Sleep well, kids! read more

We only shop here for food and toys, but they do have training services and grooming services here. There's plenty of parking and the store is really never busy. read more

I've been bringing my fur baby in for grooming here for a couple of years now. PetSmart always does a great job grooming my rescue dog and always follow any specific directions I may give. They usually only keep her for two hours before she's all groomed and ready to be picked up! Their prices are comparable to other groomers around town. I always book my appointment online and pay ahead online so I don't have to wait after she's ready to be picked up. They've been nothing but great to her and she doesn't seem scared whenever I drop her off. I've had other dogs before that we also brought to this location and they always did a great job. They even do cat grooming one day of the week. I was able to find a $10 off coupon for my first appointment at the groomer online before I booked my first appointment. My fur baby always looks her best when she comes out of the PetSmart groomer. read more

I took my 10yr old papillon and asked to have her bathed and the hair on her feet trimmed back along with her tail and around her neck and ears. I don't think they did anything except bath her and trim her nails. Will not be going back to this location and probably not to another pet smart groomers. Will do more research next time. I opened this can of Cesar dog food this morning and was disgusted to find mold in it. My dog has been eating this for weeks and has had days where she's been sick. Never in my life would I have imagined that the Cesar dog food I got at petsmart could be the reason! If he is a "biter" how were they able to brush his teeth? Groomers Felicia and Mel were unhelpful and had attitudes; unprofessional. My pup is now 2, and had been groomed at Pet Smart since he was 6 months old. We will not return ever at any location. This was at the Rivergate location. This was my first time taking my puppy in for grooming and the experience was just okay. While I was checking in, I was trying to let the woman know a little bit about my fur baby and how he would react to certain grooming services (he's only a few months old). I felt like she wasn't listening at all and kept talking to my dog instead of engaging in conversation with me. She then told me that I would need to pay an additional $7 to have his nails short and smooth. I asked if nail clipping was included, which it was, but I was informed they wouldn't be short and they would be jagged. So what's the point of clipping them if they will still be long? The service turned out okay, he's clean, smells nice, but his ears are still dirty, the sanitary trim wasn't done, and some of his nails are still too long. I think I would rather groom him at home and not deal with the poor communication and mediocre service. read more

This is a great branch. I head out here often because they carry this special brand of milk that doesn't upset cats' stomachs, and my kitty really loves it. I also like to browse the cats that are up for adoption, even though I'm totally booked in terms of animals right now...it doesn't hurt to look, does it? I try to bring my dog sometimes, since they're pet friendly, but she gets a little freaked by the other dogs. If your dog isn't awesome with others, it's probably best to leave him or her at home, as the place is often packed with puppies. It's a good time. The prices are a little higher than some other pet stores, but it's worth it to be able to find everything you need. read more

Personable, friendly, amazing Banfield experience!!! The store is clean. The vet is kind. I felt completely satisfied with their care of my cat. They invited us back for the check up. The vet was wonderful and even gave my cat a treat. Other branch experience: The Banfield on South Sharon Amity was very disappointing. Ok, so I went out to Petsmart for their dog food selection since I was looking for a new brand/type of food for my dog. She's a 5 y/o shepherd mix, weighs 50 lbs on a heavy day, and has the build of a hound. She runs with us between 15-20 miles a week, and we have to work to keep weight on her, because she'll otherwise get quite skinny. In addition, she's having some problems with her coat, so I thought I'd try switching her to a lamb/rice formula A nice young man offered to help me, and he recommended Natural Choice brand (which I was already considering). I gave him the description of my dog listed above, and he suggested I put her on a senior, weight-control type of food. I repeated my description of my dog (she's very active, only 5 y/o, and we have a hard time keeping weight on her), and he still insisted that a senior, weight-control food would be the best choice. I thanked him politely for recommending Natural Choice and told him there was no way I was putting my dog on that particular diet. His second recommendation was the large breed lamb and rice diet, and this is what I bought. I just couldn't figure out why he would initially recommend such a bizarre diet for my dog. I've never been a huge fan of Petsmart to begin with, and this just adds to my dislike. read more

For a national chain, this one is pretty good. Certainly NOT the lowest prices in the world, but they do carry a very wide variety of products. I happen to have a Mountain Lion masquerading as a cat, so I have to buy more litter than the average cat owner (big stinker!). And since he's eating me out of house and home, I tend to switch up on his dry cat food which they carry PLENTY of. In fact, sometimes I've overwhelmed with the choices! But I guess that's better than not enough, huh? So this really is my go to store for pet products. OH....my TIP: STAY AWAY FROM THE ADOPTION CENTER!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I did not expect a 5-star experience from this big box store. First of all, like many chains it is huge and a tad overwhelming. This is from someone who has not stepped into a pet store in over a decade. From smells, to pets, to aquariums your senses will be on high alert. Once I got acquainted with the store, I quickly found everything on my list. The prices were very fair and they even offer a discount card as you leave (register your dog's birthday and you'll get something and plenty of coupons). The employees are most helpful. One in particular, Rachel, took time with us explaining the various training sessions they offer. For $109 you get 6 weeks of training. Bonus, the food section is stocked with natural and organic options (and they have all kinds and fully stocked). Yes, it is important that my dog eat healthy food and I am willing to shell out a bit more for it...a healthy dog is a long-living and happy dog, right? Not far from my house, this will probably be my last minute doggy needs go-to place because I am confident they'll have what I need and plenty of it. While it's not a local store, it is very convenient and they employees are really knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Our puppy has had diarrhea, has been peeing while sitting down, has a cut on one of his legs and acting really strange ever since we got him back from petsmart after grooming. I've frequented this petsmart for a number of years. The store staff is great! They take their time to explain their products. They are very honest and will actually match prices...Even if its online. If for some reason an item doesn't work out (pet food incl.) they take it back no problem. The only blemish on their record would be the pet training. I paid for the beginner' s class for my 6 week old pup. The training comes with a guarantee in which if your pet for some reason doesn't master the skills taught you get to repeat the class! Well my pup was too young to grasp many of the concepts. Also often times the larger dogs terrified my toy breed pup. The trainer gave us his number directly for contact. My husband I decided to repeat the class b/c my pup didn't master the objectives. We called and left several messages with the trainer so he could place us in another class. He never called back. I called the store to voice my displeasure and a woman that id herself as the manager, curtly informed me he had family issues. I insisted on another class as the policy stated. She was rude and offerred me nothing. She actually hung up on me!! The next thing is the grooming dept. I have a Maltese. There were a couple of times out of the 6-7 times I took her tot be groomed in which I was unsatisfied. The 1st matter was there were mats under the inside of my pups legs. They told me my dog was squirmy, and made a note of it. They were also dry and curt. The next issue involved a cut. I have to admit I noticed my pet's coat was uneven, when my fiance picked her up and brought her home. However; I didn't want to be a nag so I figured I would give it a week or so to even out. Well after a week it looked worse! I called and informed them of the same. I was told I should have mentioned it right away.. which I should have..but didn't want to seem difficult to please (no good deed goes unpunished). For the next six months my Maltese could not be groomed because she was pregnant. Once the puppies were weaned I called to make another grooming appt. I was told by the grooming mgr. that I was unhappy with the service. I agreed. She went on to say that I stated I wasn't going to bring my dog back....Which I had no recollection of. I admit the conversation about the hacking of my dog wasn't pleasant. I was assertive and very direct in what I expected. To wrap things up I was told my dogs were no longer welcome in their grooming salon! Really?! because I was displeased with the job they did. My advice if you use them find the best groomer as they have varying skill levels there as far as grooming. Last but not least address issues right there and then. I joined my daughter on her trip to PetSmart just to check out their fish department. Lucky for me, the guy that worked that department knew his fish! I've been to a local store specializing in fish and tanks, and twice was disappointed with the experience, knowledge, prices, customer service and return policy. PetSmart has the fish marked for compatibility, and a great return policy. I ended up buying 2 Bleeding Heart Tetras and 2 Dalmatian Mollys and they are all getting along "swimmmingly." Once in the tank, though, the tiger barb we had started nipping at their tales, so I scooped him up and took him to just drop off at the store. They were surprised, but we're all content now. I would go back there for all my fish and supplies. I gave 4 out of 5, though, because a lot of their decorative tank selections were extremely high priced. read more

I generally like this store. There have been a few visits where the people weren't the most helpful, or I couldn't find what I needed. But usually it's a pleasant experience. I have an 8 month Old English Sheepdog named Thor, he's a bit of a wild man, and deaf. I signed him up for the puppy class and our instructor, Christine, was awesome. She is so patient, sweet, and has a sense of humor that should be required to work with puppies. She really seemed to listen to my concerns, and trouble areas, and to encourage where my pup was doing well. The puppy class that we took was 6 weeks, once every Sunday afternoon. And they even had a little graduation ceremony when we were all done! *insert proud dog mama and pictures here* Store and puppy classes receive 4 stars, because I am a fan. However... The only issue that I've had with this Petsmart is the grooming department. I bought one of those Puppy Starter Kits for $20. It has all sorts of coupons for free dog food, $ off bowls, collars, harnesses, etc. And a free puppy bath! Thor has a LOT of hair. I scheduled an appointment for his first puppy bath and when we arrived I explained to the girl that he is deaf and may take some extra time to adjust to each stage. I also asked if she could just trim the hair around his eyes, and I would be willing to pay extra. She then explained to me that she only washes the dogs and is not trained to even hold a pair of grooming scissors. It made me a little uneasy that this young woman washing my dog was not any kind of groomer, but I wished Thor luck and asked her to call me with any trouble because this was his first time away from me (scared new puppy mama). I got a call about 2 hours later to say that Thor was finished. She said that he had been very scared the whole time and didn't seem comfortable, but he was clean now and ready to be picked up. I immediately went to the store to pick him up. When I walked into the grooming salon I saw the girl that bathed him and she went to the back to get him. 15 mins later, Thor came bolting through the back door anxious to go home. She told me that she had trouble getting his bandana on. Maybe he's spoiled, maybe I worry to much, but the whole experience made me uncomfortable and Thor will not be back for a Petsmart bath. There is one lady in the salon that I've spoken to a few times. Super friendly, patient, and really seems to go with what is best for the dog. They are always stocked well, but Petsmart in General is a little high in price knowing their customers are willing to pay more at a dedicated pet store. If you have special needs or need grooming ( well your pet that is) then they should have what you need. Groomers: just leaving your salon and I asked specifically to have my dogs nails trimmed. You said it came with the bath and brush. Her nails were not touched. Furthermore her fur was in all disarray when picking her up shedding more than when I dropped her off. I will not visit petsmart groomers again until it is clear that this staff has more training. read more

So after they Closed the one in Pineville this has been the only large Petsmart in Charlotte. This one has all the stuff that the one in Pineville used to. They replaced the one in Pineville with a smaller one down the road by the Popeyes in The space where the Petco used to be. This is the only Petsmart left with a good fish department based on the number of fish tanks. good fish departments are not in every Petsmart. I think this one is far better though because as I said The one down the road is smaller. Because of that, they cant Carry as much Stuff. read more

I have had to switch 4 groomers before i met the guys here. My dogs are real hard to work with and I highly recommend WALTER. He is a great guy with a ton of patience and gets the job done. read more
