Wanted to love this place SO BADLY, but I think they specialize in small dogs or poodle type dogs (and short haired dogs). I will give 2 stars for how organized they are (when we arrived, the names of all the dogs and who is grooming them is on a white board and check-in is very easy). They were also very communicative prior to the appointment. Staff were all very nice. When I picked my dogs up after 3:5 hours and both were still a little bit damp. I noticed one dog had wet ears and a few knots behind her ears so I combed those out when we got home. Because she was damp upon pickup, she dried with her fur going all over. She is soft and fluffy though. My other dog, however, when I got home I noticed in the sun one area of his skin was super pink. I moved his fur back and noticed a whole patch of skin was raw. I'm not sure if they brushed too hard or with the wrong type of comb, but his skin was almost bleeding (the skin is a little broken in a few areas). The rest of his body seems fine but this one patch is raw which has never happened before. We just moved here so finding a new groomer and vet has been my biggest stressor. I know large dogs can be REALLY hard, but we had an amazing groomer back home so I know it can be done. They seemed to be doing great with the small shih-tzus and poodles and such, so I think if you have that type of dog, you would be okay. read more

We dropped off our poodle to be groomed at the dog salon. We found our Will would be our groomer. First thing I told him was Do Not Shave Him. We talked about cutting his curls down by half. Then we asked Will what he suggested and he said 1/2 inch. Before we left my husband said let's agree what we want, and we agreed to cut his curls by half which is longer than 1/2 inch. I would like to note that Will said he was not matted and he could do whatever we wanted. When we picked him up he was shaved. Not down to the skin, but about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of fur. You couldn't even tell he was a poodle anymore. Very dissatisfied. My husband did give will a tip because my husband is a nice guy, but I would not recommend this groomer. read more

I have a 7 month old Cavapoo who needed his first haircut. We found the dog salon as rated number one, so thought we would give it a try! I filled out the online intake form then called to schedule an appointment. The latest appointment I could get was early afternoon during the week, and due to work, that wouldn't work so I needed a Saturday. The first available was almost two weeks from the time I called but we scheduled it. When we took him in, it was very busy so they quickly took the dog and we left. They explained since it was his first time, he wouldn't get a full cut, just the "full spa experience" with a trim to see if he does good with that. I was surprised by this since when I called to schedule an appointment, I asked for a full cut and she hadn't mentioned otherwise. They said it would be 3-4 hours. They called us exactly 4 hours later and said he was ready. He turned out so great and I realized a trim was all he really needed anyways! They cut his hair around his face and eyes, his sanitary area, his paws and some matting on his chest. He looked like a different dog!! They also sent him home with a goody bag of an ornament, chew toy, and dog treats. And they gave him a Christmas tie to wear. They told us how he did and asked if we wanted to schedule our next appointment then. We will definitely be back! read more

I can't say enough great things about The Dog Salon! One of my favorite small businesses in Charlotte, The Dog Salon goes above and beyond for both your fur baby and you! My dog, Gus Gus, is a foxhound, and as such his coat doesn't need regular grooming, so I use TDS for their bath service. I could bathe Gus at home, and do sometimes in a pinch, but for regular cleaning I love taking him to TDS. He *loves* going there, and it's better for me to not have to make grabbing a hose or using my walk-in shower a potentially scary thing for him. The technicians at TDS always do a fantastic job getting Gus clean, including his coat, his ears, his teeth, a nail trim and a few other services that I'm happy to pass off. He is always so excited to see me when they get done, I can tell he enjoys his time there. They're quick, efficient and prioritize the dog's comfort in a fear-free environment. The Dog salon has great marketing but terrible follow through. Although we love our furry friends, this business lacks people professionalism. I filled out the lengthy client intake form with explicit notes & emailed my vaccination a week prior to the appt. The appt was confirmed twice . The day of my 8 am drop off appt, the manager made excuses as to why the paperwork wasn't verified before - noted they don't read the emails , just check to see if it's there and then attempted to deny me service bc there wasn't an expiration date for her shots shown on my dog's immunization records. No troubleshooting was offered before saying "we won't be able to see you today". I refused to be further inconveniences and went to another health portal to Get an alternate copy of my records that showed expiration dates. my dog was seen. Note: the original records showed that two months ago- all vaccinations were up to date. The alternate records included expiration dates in 2024! I had a brief consultation with the colorist before leaving my pup & a hour later , the colorist/ groomer refused to color her paws because she was "traumatized". I mentioned in my profile and during our in person consultation, nail cut should happen last since it's her least favorite part. The sound of the drill makes her anxious. She is not aggressive. He ignored my notes, cut her nails prior to doing color & cut her eyelashes although i explicitly asked for them to be left alone. She didn't look anything like what i intended for her to look like. I was upset during pick up but purposely gave myself space before circling back to talk with a manager. I called when i got back home to speak with a manager bc I wanted some time to process before reaching out for amends. The ppl here show a pattern of inability to think critically- seems like too much front loading and connecting notes to the purpose of the notes in the first place all while having a passive aggressive tone . One manager, Heather, asked for context since she wasn't the manager i previously met in the AM & then went into defense mode giving excuses every step of the way. She even screamed & cursed at me on the phone before hanging up on me simply because i asked her directly why was she using this time to defend poor service instead of providing some type of restitution. I attempted to reconcile service privately & The tantrum truly threw me for a loop and made me go to the extent of this review now . OMFurryFriend! This place is the real deal. Took my dirty dingy mud loving poochie here for his very first visit. Let me tell you, they have this pet spa down to a science. They are signing in our 'Boo-boos' outside to allow for freedom of movement. They introduced me to the pet extraordinaire service provider that would be handling my baby and ask all sorts of questions to insure he'd be cool and comfy. I'm not gonna lie, I'd planned on lingering around to see who and what was going on with my 4 legged child... Yet I was as calm as my lil dude was. 3 hours later they texted and said he was ready (and so was I. lol) I swooped him up, and couldn't believe how well he had been groomed. Our German Shepard mix is a bit anxious when going to groomers but always goes up to sniff Lori when she sees her, so I know she is comfortable. Having Indy receive monthly maintenance has been the best thing to keep her grinch feet tamed! As a small business sometimes it is hard to find a good time to catch someone on the phone, but when you do they're very kind and responsive. So don't let catching their voicemail deter you. Brought my fur son 2/7 and requested they plucked his ears (since you must request this service even though it is included with a full groom). When I picked him up, there was no plucking done. In addition they did not spray any perfume/spray or anything on him (this service is typically done when you take any dog to a grooming place). TODAY (not even 24 hours later) he smells like corn chips so I'm not even sure they completed a bath service. They couldn't resolve the issues when I was there since everyone had went home by 5:30. I called today to speak to the manager and they told me "they plucked his ears and since I had a problem with it to go to another grooming salon". We absolutely will! There is an AMAZING salon who can pluck dogs ears who we typically go to, however due to timing/traveling we knew we could get in here quicker. They lost a customer due to poor customer service and this charge has been disputed with my bank . In addition, they responded to my Google review and LIED saying how I requested a full refund for both of my services coming there. The first time we went I never requested a refund, I simply asked them to cut more of his hair at the top (which they did). Never ONCE did I request a refund. These people are liars and now I'm going to report them to the BBB. read more
