He's a doodle and had some matting and she was able to shave just where he was matted and leave everything else fairly long (like I asked). Typically when I pick him up from other groomers, he is completely shaved from being matted but not here. He is so soft and fluffy. I also love that they are a stay and play!! So you can drop your dog off at any point, and pick them up at any point during business hours. No late fees, no extra charges!!! I love this- I always hate planning my day around when my dog is going to be ready at other groomers. It seemed like the dogs were just wandering around the grooming area and there was a little area for strictly playing, but it's not like they take them to a separate room or outside, but I still love how they socialize and aren't caged!! It was pricy- at other groomers I have paid $80-$90 for a groom and here it was $105, but that also includes getting to play and socialize for as long as you need, so I think it's worth it!! I will note, they charge a 4% credit card fee if you use one. But they don't if you Venmo or pay cash. We will definitely be back!

If I dropped my dog off at 10am and he isn't ready until 4pm that is ridiculous. I will not be going back .

Do Not Take Your Dog Here!…read more We took our puppy to Modern Pet Salon for the first time because we heard they use scissors instead of clippers, which we thought would be gentler. It turned out to be a terrible mistake. We specifically asked them multiple times not to cut too much of her hair, especially since she doesn't like it, but they insisted she had too many tangles and needed a full trim. Not only did they ignore our request, but they cut our puppy twice, both on her ears--areas where there was no tangled hair at all. They even called us during the appointment to say she was bleeding. Later, they claimed it was because she had an ear hematoma and that they had just trimmed it. That was a complete lie. We took her to the vet, who confirmed that the injury was a fresh cut from grooming and not from any medical condition. She did not have a hematoma. They hurt her, and then tried to cover it up. They also asked us to use an old sock to cover the wound, which felt incredibly unprofessional and careless. Since then, our puppy has been extremely uncomfortable. She keeps shaking her head, clearly bothered by her ears, and she has been very sad and withdrawn. This is the first and only time something like this has ever happened to her. I'm beyond disappointed. Not only should they have never charged us for this awful experience, but they should not be handling dogs, especially sensitive breeds like doodles, if they can't do so safely and honestly. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Please protect your pet and take them somewhere else.

This is the first time EVER (and he is 3 1/2) that anyone has been able to get out all of his undercoat. His top coat is shiny and flowy and he is much more comfortable. Club Fetch had the notes from the other facility and chose to give our boy a chance. They sent daily report cards evaluating his behavior with photos and took excellent care of our dog. When I picked him up they said that he was an angel and was welcome to stay there anytime. Club Fetch gives us great peace of mind. We are so thankful to have a safe and loving place to care for our dog when we have to be away.

They then proceeded to look at my records for my pet and stated "You need every single distemper shot in the series to be seen. NC state law." Upon a simple google search, the only shot required by law is the rabies shot (which my dog has). I was refused grooming for no reason by an ill informed staff team. Not to mention the lack of customer service by not having a booking system that works and lack of basic phone etiquette.

Been coming here for 5 plus years every 2 weeks for groom and or baths never had a problem. Everyone is friendly and does a very good job with my 3 dogs . Having said this I have read some reviews and that are not positive and I have to say these people that leave these reviews are either former employees or are hateful, mean and are liars or have left on the crazy bus years ago. I worked in animal sciences and veterinary medicine for years and to be quite honest many many dog people are crazy and have no basis in reality. They should not be allowed on the internet and will try and ruin someone because they are just that crazy. Sorry I live in the real world and love my 3 dogs and my 3 cats and would defend them without fear with my life but I also know the difference between right and wrong. I have been in this shop twice in almost 6 years and saw just insane customers go off on someone working there when they are only trying to protect your dog and everyone else's. I should have stepped in and said something but I realized quickly based on experience they were manic and would not listen to reason. Here is another point, your dog is your dog, he wants to be with you. If your dog has just been boarded or to the vet do not take them to a groomer for a week. Dogs are not people they want routine and to be at home and calm with you. Not dragged from place to place without you. When they go to a place enclosed with multiple dogs where they are being washed and electric razors are being used and not to mention blow dryers and their anal glands are being expressed it gives off pheromones and fear because it is not normal. Every dog is not a hero or fearless or brave as a matter of fact most are not. So try and think about this when you are treating your dog like an object and not a living creature that has emotions just like we do. These people at Whiskers Dog Spa do a great job and work hard and Diane is a very good person and will do anything to make you and your dog happy. I have been a customer since the first month this salon has been open. I have always had a wonderful experience. I can tell you owning my own business that finding good help is so hard. You have to pay 13 dollars an hour or more to get a decent employee and to get a good omployee15 dollars an hour or more. That's great pay it... but here is the thing, you will pay it as a customer. Rent goes up, supplies go up, everything goes up but the customer wants perfection but can not give perfection themselves if their lives depended on it. Dog bathing and grooming is a back-breaking hard job. I know I did it in high school. The snowflake lazy kids we have raised can not do it anymore. To be honest with you it's our fault. I know Diane does the best she can and works hard to do it every day. You want perfection but want to pay the minimum for it. Some of these reviewers would be horsewhipped just 50 years ago. They are liars and couldn't tell the truth if they had too. This place is still great and my dogs love it there. :) That is what matters. Another thing, many pets owners are mentally ill and have no business using the internet. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Whiskers. I love how they treat me and my sweet fur baby. It's a wonderful set up allowing the dogs to have space to roam after their grooming session, and I have to say that it makes my day to see my dog's face in the window when it's time to come pick him up. They went above and beyond today, though. I mixed up Dash's schedule, and my husband dropped him off even though his appointment was next week! Whiskers was so sweet and didn't make me feel bad at all for my oversight. They even took him and gave him a bath and grooming early! Their customer service is above and beyond, and they have lifetime clients in us :-) read more

I've always had wonderful experiences at Whiskers! About a year ago, I decided do try a cage free groomer after bad experiences at other groomers around the area. I have a King Charles Cavalier, and I feel like Whiskers really listens to my instructions and requests. After having one groomer cut off way more of his coat than was requested, I was hesitant to even have him trimmed again; however, Whiskers listened to my concerns and did an amazing job. We've been going back for monthly visits ever since. My pup also loves the employees and the environment. He never acts weird or skittish when I pick him up which hasn't been the case with other groomers in the past. read more

Friendly staff, compassionate and caring to my older dog and they manage my wild puppy with enthusiasm. They do a wonderful grooming job and they work fast. They return phone calls quickly and do there best to work you in. They are very busy but manage to accommodate. Most importantly, they treat my precious dogs with loving care! I give them the highest rating available and I have had dogs that I have groomed for many, many years. They are the best out there! read more

Whiskers is hands down the most professional and compassionate dog grooming company in Charlotte. My dog is always excited to go and looks handsome and happy when I pick him up. When he needed surgery a few years back, the staff at Whiskers couldn't have been more gentle and attentive to his needs as he recovered- I knew I didn't have to worry about him in their care. I have taken both our dogs to Whiskers for a couple years and I am very pleased. We are just disappointed that they don't groom un- neutered adult males anymore. Looking for someplace else to take him but it's really hard to trust just anyone with your baby. read more

She is just a rude and unpleasant person. There are other reviews of dogs being cut and her acting defensive and dismissive. Avoid at all costs!!. There are plenty of other groomers that won't slice your dog up and then blame you.
