Walked in one day and talked to the owner Diane to ask about grooming. Picked up a business card. Scheduled an appointment via text a couple weeks later. Simple enough process. Took my dog to her appointment. The Front desk staff was not friendly or courteous. She had a bit of an attitude. The woman who groomed my dog, don't know her name, was friendly. They were prompt with messaging me when my dog was ready. Checkout process was easy. Grooming was good for a short-hair dog that just needed a bath and nail trim. Customer Service and a focus on customer satisfaction needs to improve. read more

Terrible hair cut! Our golden doodle was literally butchered! Shame on us as this was the second time it happened. The first time they assured us that the responsible employee was fired and they apologized profusely. Our dog was shaved down to his skin, knicked everywhere and has "clipper butt" according to the resulting visit to the vet. Most discouraging is his change in personality, he knows something is wrong and is constantly "skittering" around from all the knicks. There was plenty of instruction and dialogue on how to cut our dog but they still got it wrong. They roll groomers thru there without any skill at all despite their claim to specialize in Goldendoodles. Would not recommend this place at all for an actual dog hair cut. See pics attached. I am Black/African American. **Would NOT Recommend** for any Black/African American dog owners. ----Made an appointment 1 week in advance, changed the appointment to one day later same time. (No problems there.) I asked for Full Body groom & Pawdicure The grooming took about 2 hours & 15 minutes. My dogs hair was a bit long before grooming.. The groomers did nip/cut both the ends of my dogs ear. Which are still healing 2 months later. I did notice some of his nails were not trimmed(if they were, they were poorly cut). Prices are reasonable but, i Would Not recommend Pawdicure if you are already getting full body groom. You cant tell if anything was even done to their paws other than a Poorly done nail trimming... There are places that are cheaper and would do a much better job.. I wont return here... **Would NOT Recommend** for any Black/African American dog owners. read more

I unfortunately can only give Whiskers 2 stars because I have tried twice now to provide them instructions with how I'd like our doodle to be cut, and they have not followed our requests either time. Whiskers' process is that when you check in, they write down your preferences/instructions on a slip of paper and take it back to the person grooming your dog. You never get to speak with the groomer, you can never ask for the same groomer twice, and the only instruction that makes it onto the slip of paper is the clipper length. They're nice and my dog enjoys going, but I can't keep spending $70 on a doodle wash and cut when they ignore my instructions. read more

My Maltese received a full grooming here- bath and haircut. Her haircut looks... careless? They had to shave her body due to matting, but it is just very uneven and looks like i just took clippers to it. Very choppy around the neck & face area. She used to have a poofy tail that was not matted or tangled, and they shaved it for reasons unknown to me. Think "rat tail" now. She smells good and did in fact get her haircut... but yikes. Went for the first time today. Took in my two dogs for a nail trim. After getting home, I inspected the nails and found that my one dog was bleeding (cut too short). Just took my miniature schnauzer puppy to Whiskers today for her first professional haircut. Now, I know why they have 5 stars. Truffles is a 15 week old puppy and loves to bite, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked her up. I had groomed and bathed her myself before, so I knew what kind of a hard time she would give the groomer. I asked that they not use any perfumes or powders on her because of my allergies. When I picked her up, she was sitting in the store front window looking like an angel. I was extremely pleased with the haircut and cute little bandanna she was wearing. They did as I asked and did not put any perfume on her, which I really appreciate. I had a good first experience, but have to mention a couple of things that could be improved upon for my next visit. When we arrived to drop Truffles off for the first time, the lady helping us was making phone calls while we were standing there waiting. Then when I picked Truffles up, the same person said "he" was great, when I asked how "she" did. I'm guessing they were really busy, but the small details make a big difference. My suggestion is to be a little more attentive to the customer standing in front of you and know the sex of the dog when you make reference to him or her. I definitely recommend Whiskers Dog Spa. The price is a little more than Petsmart, but definitely worth it. read more

This place is okay with small dogs, they do an average job on the little guys but it gets pricey, for no reason at all the price jumps the following visit. I stop going there because my little one would panic as soon as I brought her there, she would literally urinate a little before getting picked up to go inside, dogs can't tell you what or how they are getting treated inside so I took it as an indicator of probably not such gentle treatment. I loved whiskers at the beginning but it continually grew worse over time.... after being a client for about 4 years. different situations have occurred almost every appointment esp the past 2 years... (always something!) 1. One day dropping my dog off the girl at the front asked me, "do you want the usual"? In my mind, the "usual" is the same groom treatment I get every time. Which I replied "yes please!" (My dogs cut is full groom +deshed we get every single time for past 4 years) when I picked her up, she was bushy still and it was $40-60 cheaper and I asked why she looked bushy still and why less $, they told me they only did a "full groom" and not the deshed... I replied that I had requested her "usual/same" haircut after being asked "do you want "the usual" as I stood there waiting for "oh I'm sorry let's take her back and finish or can you bring her back another time" I got NOTHING. So, I asked for Diane, the owner, she told me, "when you said the usual they did her usual groom, but the deshed is an add on treatment so it has to be requested". After telling her how the girl had asked me "for the usual", basically Shes still telling me "you are wrong/it's a special treatment that has to be requested" I was shocked!! After 4 years of being here!!! (During this time I was not yelling or cursing or anything ONLY asking and wanting answers, not being rude to anyone bc this is our usual place and I wouldn't want to be rude especially a place I frequent!) I was so upset when I left, I called and left 2 messages, also complaining bc I always ask them to give my dog water bc she comes home and drinks an entire bowl like she's been there for hours without a drop of water (I even would right it down on haircut instructions to please give water) so Diane never called me back, not surprised bc she told me I was wrong in person, but I thought maybe it had been a bad day/moment and I just caught her in a stressed moment so I'm thinking after she heard my message and my explaining I truly thought the usual was the same and don't believe it's my fault (the customer.. the 4 year long customer) and how upset, bc it could have been handled so simply and why my dog never is given water and if I need to send her with her travel bowl and a bottle of water I will! she still didn't call back... she could have easily rectified the situation by scheduling the deshed and an apology for the misunderstanding and for the future to teach staff to ask what you want every single time and not be casual and ask "do u want the usual" ( especially if the usual means something different at whiskers than it does in life and in Webster's dictionary) 2. After that experience I tried to reschedule and I left 6-8 messages and called to get an appt and she refused to call me back, finally I asked, if she didn't want us to return to please let me know so I could find other arrangements but she didn't have the decency or courtesy to call me back and say "hey find somewhere else bc we don't accept customers that question anything or complain" 3. My bf has to call and drop our dog off and act like we are no longer together and he just has the dog, so they will make an appt with him but not me, and over the situation I stated above...crazy! 4. Not this groom but the one before our dog came home looking like nothing had been done and we were so disappointed and couldn't call bc if you complain they don't take you back. (My dog isn't great in long car rides and gets anxiety so I kept letting my bf take her back bc they did a decent job 70% of the time and it's close and she knows them..) FINAL STRAW 5. Yesterday when my bf came to pick our dog up, while paying he noticed the bill was $10 more, he was not told when he dropped our dog off that the prices changed or anything and got the same services (the usual)we get every single time!! we pay $75 for 4 years straight which is very expensive!!! And all of a sudden they add on $10 ? We will be finding a new groomer now... we should have a long time ago but I really did like whiskers and Diane in the beginning.... the day the misunderstanding occurred about the haircut just blew my mind, that she basically stood behind her staff saying I should have said "and the deshed" saying it's my fault. I asked several several people after this happened and "the usual" means the exact same thing! Not HALF OF IT. But for Diane to be like that, when I pay as much as I do for the grooming, and been paying for YEARS, you would think that you mattered as a customer, hell as a person! My BF is going to call on Monday to ask what the extra $10 was and we are trying to get it back. It's not a lot of money but it's the principle. I should have wrote this review a long time ago... I really wanted Whiskers to work, and it did in beginning but after all this poor customer service/being treated so badly and the haircuts being bad on 3 occasions, and $10 extra for? DON'T TAKE YOUR DOODLE HERE! We used to have a really cute Goldendoodle until Whiskers Dog Spa mutilated his coat. We asked to have his puppy fur taken off, which should have left a good 2 - 2.5 inches; I even confirmed this with the groomer before we left. They ended up almost shearing him, there's barely an inch of hair, and it's uneven all over his body. I'm so disappointed! They even told us that Goldendoodles were their specialty... My family was a loyal customer for years. When I got my own dog, I knew I wanted to take him to Whiskers as a trusted groomer. However, that has not been the case. My dog has received a different cut every time he visited, and most recently, it was the most severe. He was completely shaved down to his skin. I received a call that they needed to go shorter than normal, but did not inform me that it would be down to his skin and bones. He was shaking from being so cold. I even called after and the receptionist even admitted that there must have been a miscommunication - but would not give me my money back. And on top of all of this, his paw pad is now infected from being cut so close to the skin. The prices at this groomer increased significantly over the past few months, and with that, the customer service and respect for their clients has continued to decreased. After discovering Whisker's Dog Spa about a year and a half ago, we have not been anywhere else to get Pockets groomed. I love that the staff knows our dog whenever we call to setup an appointment and always gets so excited to take him back. There have been a few times at other places where they have absolutely butchered our Yorkie Poo's fluffy hair. However EVERY TIME we pick him up he looks perfect, touched up with an adorable seasonal bandana print with Whiskers. Once in a while we will check in the window before we pick our dog up to see what he is doing. He is always wagging his tail, loving the groomer or watching the other dogs extremely satisfied. Even though you may have to wait for a call back to setup your appointment, it is well worth it! They have always been very prompt in responding to our voicemails and setup an appointment as soon as they have an opening. Just anticipate at least one week in advance, since this place has been doing extremely well... Whisker's is the best groomers in Charlotte. read more

I've been going to Whiskers for 5+ years with my MALTIPOO and no major issues. Unfortunately I will not be returning. I started bringing my Shepard in for baths and they did not inform me they separated her due to the fact that she was an "aggressive breed". Their excuse was she has larger teeth than other dogs and have had poor experiences with the breed previously. The facility advertises a cage free environment. Putting my very friendly but anxious dog in an unfamiliar room alone would have been nice to know. I went to pick her up and was informed she pooped all over herself and they needed to give her another bath. They also had forgotten to cut her nails and needed to do that the second bath around. If they had informed me they were separating her due to her breed I would have never brought her in the first place. It's just a little unfortunate they allow my maltipoo who is much more aggressive run amuck while my 11 year old docile Shepard is deemed aggressive due to external factors. But I was told to "not take it personally". Kind of hard not to. The fact that this was never disclosed makes me concerned as to what else I have not been informed of. In short, if you have a poodle or designer dog, you will love Whiskers. Just don't bring your "aggressive" Shepard. read more

I had used Whiskers when it initially opened and only had one bad experience where my dog had a cut. I know things happen but it would have been nice if they would have told me about it up front. I have just recently gone back and probably for the last time. I have a miniature poodle - granted he is a bit larger than a normal miniature but the cost to groom seems to increase by $5.00 everytime I go. It started at $65; then $70; then $75; then $80 and this last time they charged $85.00. For the most part they do a good job on grooming but I will go back to where they were charging $70.00. read more

This place does a decent job grooming dogs, but only go here if you like dealing with a business who's employees thumb their noses at the phrase "customer service". From the reservation "system" in which you have to leave a voice mail and hope they call you back when you have your phone handy because they will not call back again, to the interaction with them when dropping off or picking up pets where the customer is always wrong, dealing with this place is absolutely terrible.
