I love this location. As soon as I walk in, I am greeted by my friendly reptile live feed customer service guru. She is always up and cheerful. I'm not sure how because she is usually working alone. Stocking, then dipping feeders, live mice, crickets, and fish for customers in the department. The department is clean and always receiving updates on stock. The store is in a great central location and a big private, well-lighted parking lot. The store is clean and stocked with every type of pet product. I am a fish and reptile person, so I focus on those offerings. The checkout registers are always fast. If there are a lot if customers, the manager will jump on a register to speed up service. Banfield hospital hasn't gotten to be a bear to deal with .. They tell you to call ahead for medicine . Once you get there a day later you still have to wait for over an hour to get medicine . Came at 2:15 said doctor just went to lunch .. Here over2 hours later and still waiting for medicine for dog !!! Unacceptable poor service read more

I don't adopt pets from here, I rescue them! Cashier even thought it was a good idea to put my Bettas container into a plastic bag with other purchases.. of course it immediately tipped over and spilt water all inside of my bag.. did he offer me a new bag? For grabbing quick supplies for ur animals yes this a good establishment for that- buying ur animals here- not so much. There's been so many times I've come into the store to purchase some fish for my tank and their fish are sick and dead every-time. I don't mean a few dead fish here and there I'm talking the tanks are completely quarantined. Really just watch the health of some of the pets before you decide to purchase as you may not realize just what kind of condition they're in. read more

This is one of the cleanest locations I have visited, it doesn't smell stuffy and like rodent bedding like some others I have been in. This petsmart was organized well and didn't have a film of dust on various bags of dog food like I have experienced before. All of the animals appeared well taken care of with no visible ailments. They have cats for adoption, an array of fish, reptiles, birds, gerbils, Hamsters, and a cute chinchilla. They always have a stocked discount section and right now they have a section of Fourth of July attire for pets. We will definitely be back to this location. read more

Staff not interested in helping the customer at all. When they do get tracked down to be asked a question or for some help, they act as though the burden is too much to bear. Yesterday I tried to adopt a turtle and buy some guppies. I have 4 turtles and a crap of guppies and mollies. I wanted to add some new ones. Well after being argued and asked a million questions by two employees, telling me if I wanted feeder fish then they had some but I was not allowed to buy any other fish because I have turtles and the other fish are not feeder fish. I've had turtles for over 12 years, my current ones don't even bother with the fish I have in with the turtles. At the check out, I finally was mad enough that I walked out. So Petsmart, you no longer have my services. You're employees don't know anything about fish or turtles or even baby snails that I kept asking about of what to feed them or something to produce algae. I would rather drive to Virginia Beach than drive 6 minutes to this one. Unbelievable and unacceptable. read more

Does anyone know of a dog groomer that doesn't act like they are doing you a favor? While I was enroute to the salon I became lost due to improper directions from my mapquest gps. When I informed them by phone that I was going to be 15 minutes late, they informed me in return that it would cost me $7 extra. Really? I wonder how much they made after I cancelled the appointment. I believe I have the correct one, if located in Chesapeake, VA. I never knew that a fun trip to purchase a pet for my daughter would turn into an unpleasant interrogation session. The staff I encountered were very rude, one manager, one associate. Neither of the two were wearing name tags to be identified. I won't turn this into a long story, so all I wanted to express is that you tighten up on customer service with some of the employees. Along with being rude, the employees treat you like you know nothing and that they know what's best. In my opinion the animals in their care are in poor health to not even last 3 days after purchase. When you return them they're hounding you about what you did to them. Seriously?! I've had pets since I was a child myself, I've always loved animals no matter what they are. I tend to stick with welcoming pets into the family that I'm familiar with. They've all lived happy lives up until old age. My Chiloh has been going there for a while now & they always do an outstanding job. Very friendly staff & store looks organized & clean. Not my first choice since the new Petsmart opened in Harbour View. I will say though that this location is a FULL service pet smart with a Banfield pet hospital. This store used to match prices online and are hurting their sales tremendously by no longer doing so. This isn't a company policy because other locations and managers have matched. My husband went in yesterday seeing if they could match chewey.com's prices (& if so we would buy all our bulk orders from them). Not only would the female manager not match it but she wouldn't even match petsmart.com's prices!!! My husband kept showing her the price and she insisted it had to be an in store pickup-- so he did that but she couldn't figure out her own system. Sadly, my husband was so annoyed he will never shop at petsmart again (which is a shame bc they support rescue-- hence why I gave any stars). All I can say is YES!!! This grooming salon is absolutely wondeful, especially Dominique, who took exceptional care of my sweet pup. We were running late, but Dominique made us feel welcome and valued when we arrived. My dog Nivia was bathed and trimmed and when I picked her up, she looked like a completely different dog. I will be returning to this petsmart, and using Dominique for as long as she works there. I've been coming here ever since. The groomers here are always so nice, they do a great job, and they get my dog in and out much faster. We have taken our boxer/bulldog to petsmart and banfield since we got her almost 7 years ago. More times than not, we are extremely unhappy with our experience and how our girl is taken care of. She has severe separation anxiety so she's difficult to deal with but is such a sweet baby either way if you hold her right. They never listen to me when we tell them that she chokes herself with their leash and to please use our harness. They refuse and do it anyway per "corporate policy". I don't think it is "corporate policy" to choke my dog. Secondly, out of the 7 years of taking her, only about twice has she come home and her nails been done correctly. Every other time, we get her home and she begins to limp because some ill-trained "groomer" has cut her nails down too far to the quick where she is either bleeding or holding her paw/leg up. UNACCEPTABLE. Also, any time that they have bathed her, we end up having to take her back for antibiotics for a yeast infection in her ears. (This happened 3 times before we quit having it done) I'll give it to them, their employees have always had a great attitude and very nice, but I'd honestly rather a rude employee and my dog taken care of correctly instead of vice versa. read more

Today I brought my yorkie in for his normal appointment. About an hr in I get a phone call telling me that they could only give him 1/2 of his haircut. She said he moved around too much that I was no longer allowed to bring him in bc he need sleeping meds to get a haircut. My yorkie is the sweetest most mild mannered, happy dog you will ever see. He loves everyone and has never had a problem getting a haircut before. He's had several in the 8 or 9 months. On the phone I'm told that I'll have to pay $15 for what they did do. I get into the salon and I speak with the girl who did his hair. I asked if she would please try one more time bc I didn't want him to have half a haircut. She says fine, I leave, Within 5 mins I get a phone call and they tell me he's done. I get my paper that has the price on it and the price went up $20. $20 for 5 mins of work and honestly it doesn't look like they did a thing. By this time I'm ready to just leave bc I can feel myself getting even more mad and when I get mad it's best for me just to leave. So I ended up paying 30 something dollars for half of a haircut. I will never go back to this place and I will Never recommend this place. If you can't handle a 5 pound Yorky then get a new profession. read more

So my wife grabs a bag of Blue Buffalo dog treats from the shelf and takes them to the register. The lady at the register rings up the treats and says it'll be whatever the full price is ($6+). My wife politely told her that they are supposed to be 60% off since they were part of the display. And there was a bunch of them on the display, not just one. So the seemingly dimwitted cashier looks at another cashier and asks, "What percent off are these?" The other cashier responds "I think they're 40%, just take a dollar off." My wife tells her again that they're 60% off and she rudely responds, "It'll be $1 off." So my wife responded that she didn't want them. No point in getting the manager, my wife said she's dealt with her before and that she is extremely rude. read more

I have been coming to this location for a few years now and have always had a pleasant experience. Today I decided to write a review because I had such great customer service. I went in to purchase a crate for my dog and the gentleman came to assist me with it to the register and then waiting to help me to the car. Well, unfortunately I was a little off on my measurements and it wouldn't fit in my backseat. The guy tried to make it work but then was very nice and took it back and held it for me till I could come back. I went back into the store and made sure to let the cashier know it would be a couple of hours before I could return and to make sure that was fine and she was so pleasant and helpful and wrote a note to ensure their was no problem if they were gone. Took my toy poodle there several times was always marginally satisfied until the last visit. The groomer clipped the skin under both eyes causing my dog a serious eye infection. Took two antibiotics and a substancial amount of money to clear up. Not to mention the pain and suffering my dog went through. Be cautious of going there. I certainly won't again. read more

I have used this petsmart to groom my yorkiepoo twice. First time, fine. Second, I was charged for all kinds of add ons and still left with a puppy with mats here and there and long nails. I feel like the only thing they really did was give her a bath and blow dry. Then when I picked her up, the groomer lectured me on how she did a bad job trimming her face because I haven't gotten my puppy used to trimmers properly. I feel that is more of her problem because no one else had difficulty. She didn't trim her face so that was her excuse. Since then, I have driven 20 minutes further to use the Petsmart in VA Beach. They are MUCH better, more professional, and sweeter to my puppy. Definitely go there instead! read more
