Though the Southgate Rd. Petsmart is closest to my home, I am most familiar with the Petsmart on N. Academy near Chapel Hills. Every week I transport adoptable cats and kittens from the no kill cat shelter where I have volunteered for several years, to Petsmart adoption center there. I set up the kennels and kennel cards, and submit photos of the felines for the shelter's social media. The staff is friendly and loyal to our shelter, adopting kitties from us. read more

I brought my dog to get groomed yesterday and paid $97 for a bath and a good deshedding. Completely disappointed, the hair is still coming out in clumps. i was able to fill a trash bag of hair today and still can keep going. If they couldn't do it i wish they'd just tell me rather than me wasting my money on her to look the same. Waste of time and money. read more

Horrible!!! Tried order online to pick up at store. Supposed to be a convenients, dead wrong!!! A seriously long line with one cashier. No one else around to get my order. Asked at the veterinary side, maybe to call someone up front. They said to walk around the store to find the other employee. After several laps I didn't find anyone else. Got in the seriously long line that isn't moving effectively to get my order. Unexeptable long line and not enough staff is typical at this store. So next I tried order online for delivery. Never again!!! Petsmart uses Uber drivers. Uber drivers do not have the codes or keys to get into apartment buildings for deliveries like UPS, FedEx, US postal, etc. do. Therefore cannot get into apartments with keyed entrances. Didn't think it was a problem because 3 parts of my order came. One portion of the order was left at my door, two other portions was left in the lobby of my building, not at my door but obviously got in the building. Another portion of my order the driver couldn't get into the building. There is a keypad to the right to get buzzed in. I get text messages from the driver but when I respond I get a generated message, 'Not sure who you are trying to contact, be sure to contact them directly.' Petsmart advised free shipping over $49 and I ended up paying shipping! Just don't bother with this company!!!! read more

This store is racist and discriminated towards me and my dog. The lady working in the grooming department claimed she was the "manager" whole time she wasn't and had to get the real manager after the fact. It's sad how they didn't want to do their job and get my dog in for a grooming when I had an appointment and it's vaccinations/rabies papers and email record. Their excuse was it was "hand written" but yet it had my doctor's signature with stamps. read more

My dog walked in perfectly fine for grooming and walked out a nervous wreck and an injury on her face, the most explanation i got was that they'll "review the cameras". It's really fustrating that i trusted these people with my pups only for her to be injured and scared. read more

I don't know why I continuously have to drive 25 minutes North to get the food and products I need for my puppy. This store is down the street from me and I basically never go anymore. They are always out of stock, not just on busy weekends. ALL THE TIME. I used to order food online from smaller companies but had major delivery issues and delays with every carrier. So I decided to go with a frozen raw from instinct. Every other store carries it. I hope the manager sees this and adjusts inventory. I'm tired of wasting gas and time. read more

I want to brag on McKenzie in the grooming department. She was very patient with my hyper lab mix. She was very kind, calm, and quick!

This PetSmart is probably the best I've ever been too. The staff is highly trained, if there's a long line the staff always helps on register, it's well stocked, and the habitats are always clean, I've never seen them dirty. read more

I used Tarrah for my dog's training, 16 classes. My companion and I obtained a pretty-far-gone 20-lb rescue dog on 5/29/2020. Our dog had huge abandonment and food-guarding issues, and bit me at least 15 times in all, usually with no warning. Tarrah is a dog trainer without peer! I posed at least 200 questions/dog training issues with her, and she additionally volunteered some 100 initiatives/suggestions--all of these adding up to turning our four-year-old dog (?), that had been in numerous homes and shelters, into a beautiful, loving, almost normal dog a RESCUED dog of immeasurable value! By the way, our dog, Baby, which I nicknamed Velcro because he is almost always within six inches of my companion, has not bitten me since I finished Tarrah's classes late last year! Tarrah is so skilled in animal training, she should be given national responsibility in training other Per Smart trainers, both in person and by video, all from her Southgate (Broadmoor) Shopping Center Colorado Springs, CO location. She is so skilled, and loving, in pet training, a trip across the United States for up to a three-week trainers' training course from her would be a lifetime achievement! If you are thinking of purchasing a cat through petsmart... DONT!!! I bought what I thought was going to be An amazing cat, and he was other then the fact they sold him to me very sick! I had to take him into the vet because he had tape worms and after that he was still throwing up and he passed it to my other cat, I have since rehomed him to a lovely family but now I'm paying astronomical prices for vet bills when I was told he was healthy and had no conditions, will be seeing what other action I can take against petsmart. I have loved pets for a long time and gotten many from previous Petsmarts that have been excellent in customer service and the pets seemed really healthy. This one however is a whole new experience. We moved here last summer and needed a new pet store for supplies and maybe a new friend. This was the closest one and since we had good experiences in the past we had no reason to suspect the worst. We visited the store the day before Black Friday with the intention of getting a cockatiel after our African Grey died of old age a few months ago. We visited the store and saw they had a good looking make cockatiel after asking if we could handle it we got a scared look from the girl helping us and who said to wait for someone who worked with the birds. We waited for about 10 mins for the girl who came and told us "they don't handle the birds so they don't get attached and can be a little over the top." Our African grey was rescued and mean before we could tame him but it was nothing like I saw this bird. As soon as she opened the cage he was screaming at the top of his lungs and biting the girl so hard she grabbed a towel and tried to grab it with one hand. I was appalled at how they treated the birds and how mean he was. We didn't get to touch him we were so afraid. You could tell the girl was terrified and dropped him numerous times. We were already worried at the thought of these birds being hurt when my mom saw a Green cheek conure in the bottom cage. She gave us the sweetest look and ruffled her feathers and we were in love. When asking about that one we got a new girl who seemed to be very good at handling them. The bird was terrified but didn't bite and let us hold her. We came back the next day to pick up the bird and we were greeted by two new girls we had not seen before. The one trying to get the bird out of the cage flinched every time she came near her hand and actually tried using a net to catch her! I myself went in the cage and without fight managed to get her out. The staff obviously didn't know how to care or handle the birds. When taking her home we named her Fiji and she was the sweetest thing. In a few days she calmed down and would let us do anything with her. She was a great bird that just needed someone to love her. Everything was fine until about 2 weeks we had her. I came home from work and she was dead. I was mortified and sad. I will never buy animals from here and request that you don't either unless you want to get attached to one that will soon die because of its treatment. Petsmart did nothing when I went that day to complain and instead gave me my money back because she didn't last more than a month. Horrible sick people read more

I used this PetSmart today for the first time to have my Border Collies groomed. I'm new to the area and this was the closest to my home . Rachel did a very good job! $150 (2018 dollars) for two Collies seemed expensive, but perhaps not for Colorado Springs and all that was done. They were washed with Oatmeal shampoo, deshedded, trimmed around the anal area, blow dried and brushed out. All in 3 1/2 hours. Before today's grooming, both were scratching constantly. As of this writing, five hours later. neither Collie has scratched. read more

This is not necessarily a one star for the supply store itself - I'm rating their grooming services. I have taken both my dogs there a few times due to convenience of location, but now I am more than willing to use a couple more miles to drive to another shop. Any other place will be better than this craphole. The last time I brought my dogs to their center, my terrier walked out with bald spots and nicks with dried blood (we noticed them once we got home). When we went back to complain, the lady behind the desk just told us to make an appointment with their vet in the store. Yeah, ok. Because your vet can do so much for your mistakes that we've had to pay for? My poor dog had suffered for months until her hair grew out and scabs dried off. My other dog just got his nails trimmed and ears cleaned, but they didnt even trim his nails properly - the ends were jagged and not even filed. At all. Never again, Pet Smart. I'll definitely be taking my dogs elsewhere. read more

Terrible service (just the grooming salon). My dog had an appointment at 12:30 for a bath, furminator, and teeth brushing. They always say 3 to 3 1/2 hours to get all this done. 4 1/2 hours later I decided to call to see what was going on with my dog. When I mentioned the name of my dog, they didn't seem to know who the heck I was talking about. After they put me on hold, they said that they would need another 40 minutes. Their excuse was that they had too many walk-ins and were delayed taking take of my dog. It took them almost 5 hours to take care of my dog. This in completely unacceptable. For the prices they charge, customers deserve at least a phone call to let us know that they are behind schedule. It does not make sense. What is the purpose of making an appointment if a walk-in can jump in ahead in the line? I will be looking for another place to take my dog. read more

So I gave PetsMart another chance after each salesperson in there fish department was telling me to add different things to my fish tank water. I started over with my fish tank and slowly added fish well twice now they sold me sick fish the fish would only live not even 24 hours and it's only one kind of fish to.. that is some bullshit.. I hate to say it but there fish are about worthless from there. I will be taking the dead ones back as they are under warranty still but I will talking to management about this bullshit. read more

This PetSmart has the worst customer service in the grooming department. I had my dog groomed there about a month ago and when I went to pick him up, he looked like he hadn't even been groomed and I paid almost $50 for essentially nothing. So I contacted PetSmart and they apologized for that and offered a free grooming with the manager Kelsey to make up for it. So of course I was happy and accepted. Well today was his grooming and we made it for 5 pm and they don't close until 9. Because when I dropped him off they said if you don't hear from us then give us a call around 8:30. So I dropped him and went about my night and an hour after at 6 pm I get a phone call from the manager Kelsey saying that she couldn't complete his grooming tonight. I was pretty upset about that, so I said why. And she said she was to excited and she wouldn't have enough time. I said you have 3 hours to complete his grooming (that's usually how long it takes for him) and she said she has other dogs there so she can't do it. So essentially they over booked, and I said okay well if it's a little later than that's okay. And she said they can't stay late not even 1 minute to finish. Which I don't believe. So now I have to go get him not groomed because she was too lazy to take the time to give my dog her attention. I'm sorry but when a grooming service can cost almost $60 then you should be giving him your attention and be able to complete his grooming. When I drop my dogs off they also are very rude and rush me. I don't recommend this PetSmart grooming at all! The worst I have seen! Ridiculous! Don't waste your time with them. read more

This is my favorite place to shop for my dogs and cats. Friendly staff and helpful too. They helped me put a crate together after I had to return one. I bring my Boxer here to get her nails ground because she is so fearful of getting them clipped. The grooming staff always remembers her and she is comfortable and happy going there for her pedicure. She also took two puppy classes at this store. I plan on taking my Corgi Heeler puppy there too for his nails. After shopping here for 10+ years I highly recommend this store! read more

I heard that this store has a new groomer for cats,so I called and made a appointment with Marlene. I was so happy to finally find a person that grooms cats. I drove 3 hours to this location, and was not disappointed. Marlene took her time with my cat ( Jasmine ) because she is a older cat 14 years old. I have a 8 month old puppy with a beautiful, long coat. We took her in for the first time to be groomed a few months ago. She is bathed and brushed regularly but her hair was starting to get a little long. When we were asked what length we wanted her coat we told them that we didn't want her shaved just trimmed up. The woman who did her intake agreed saying we didn't want to ruin her beautiful coat. When I picked her up I could've cried! They shaved her down to her undercoat. Even the employees couldn't stop looking at her and one of them said "She looks really different...". We called back to express our frustration and the manager was apologetic, offered us a free grooming and promised she would personally do it. The problem is her coat still hasn't grown back. read more

Scheduled an appointment for grooming. Dropped off our dog at 12 P.M. and was told to pick up at 4 P.m. We came back at 4 and was told he will not be ready till 5. I was pissed but had no choice but to come back. My husband and I went back at 5 and they still were not done. We waited in store and as we were waiting we saw the girl that was grooming our puppy rough handling our dog. My husband walked over and told them they need to stop being so rough with our dog. An hour later he was done at 1800. They really need to work on their customer service. We took our dog to the Pets Mart up north and loved it there. We thought we would get the same kind of service at this Pets Mart but definitely not the case. I will not be taking my dog here anymore! read more
